The season watermelon cocktail was so refreshing and lite and packed full of flavor. The shrimp & grits were the standout--rich, flavorful, and definitely something I'd order again. The dip with toasted bread was perfect for sharing, the cocktails were creative, and the key lime pie was a smooth finish to the night. But the service really elevated the experience. Marco (aka "Tequila Time" ) was awesome, and honestly, the entire staff was amazing--welcoming, attentive, and made us feel taken care of from beginning to end. My girlfriend and I finally got together for dinner to not only catch up but also enjoy some good food! This was our first Magical Dining experience of this season! It's commonly known that there is an overwhelming amount of restaurants listed for Magical Dining, and The Pinery was our first choice! We have heard so many good reviews of this restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit fell short :( I want to begin with how lovely our hostess, bartender, and server was. I'm sure the reasons behind our negative experience is beyond their control. We were sat 45 minutes past our reserved dinner time. The short ribs from the main courses ran out. That was our top choice and we were saddened to learn of the sellout for the night. The bread service we ordered was terribly stale. The fried green tomato lacked taste and flavor. The shrimp and grits dish was delicious! I honestly don't think the cornbread was necessary for this dish. The tradition shrimp, sausage, grits, and gravy were perfectly paired and did not require the cornbread. The cornbread itself was part of the bread service, which lacked taste and appeared stale. The desserts were the star of the show. I was informed they make everything in house to include the desserts. Amazing job! Also, because of the delay, we were gifted an additional dessert. Thank you so much! I'd be happy to return one day to give it another shot. We had such high expectations based on the reviews we've heard from others. We stopped by The Pinery for happy hour and left with mixed feelings. If you're looking for wine, beer, cocktails, or simple mixed drinks, happy hour is worth checking out. However, I was surprised that the bar bites and appetizers were still fairly expensive, so the food specials didn't feel like much of a bargain. We started with the coconut shrimp, the short rib tacos, and the bread service, and all three were fantastic. The coconut shrimp was crispy and flavorful, the short rib tacos were packed with flavor, and the bread service was the perfect way to start the meal. Everything was off to such a great start that we had high expectations for our entrée. Unfortunately, the chicken-fried steak (which is actually made with beef despite the confusing name) was a huge disappointment. The meat was incredibly tough, to the point that it was difficult to chew, while the breading ended up being the most flavorful part of the dish. The broccoli tasted like plain steamed broccoli without any seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were just average and didn't add much to the plate. The entrée was disappointing enough that we asked for it to be taken back and chose not to have it remade. What made the experience more frustrating was how it was handled. Neither the owner nor a manager came by to ask what went wrong or gather any feedback. We were also offered dessert in a way that made it sound complimentary, but it ended up being added to our bill, which was confusing. One other thing that stood out was seeing the owner speak rather sharply to an employee over a white towel hanging from his pocket. It may have been a minor issue, but it could have been addressed more privately. On the other hand, every other staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere and is definitely a nice spot for a date night. I can absolutely recommend stopping by for drinks and appetizers, especially during happy hour. Friend and I made reservations last minute, on the day of, and got a great time slot. Pulled up and decided to do complementary valet. Best decision ever as there weren't any parking spots around. Walked in and was greeted and seated right away. Damian was our waiter. We literally sat down for all of two minutes, and Damian started us off with some water. 10/10, would recommend sitting at his area. He was attentive. Knowledgeable about the menu. And made the experience a good one. I might butcher his name, but the manager, maybe named Cameron, skinny guy with glasses, walked around and checked on the tables and even suggested a new drink that was the drink of the month. By this time, my friend and I have had already two or three drinks. So I couldn't tell you specifically what the drink of the month was, but I do remember it having tequila, frozen, strawberries, and it tasting really good. 10/10 recommend. All of the food that we got on the fixed menu for bite30 was a hit. My side of cream risotto wasn't as good as I anticipated, but it was edible. Some of the risotto, was a tad bit too crunchy for my liking. So I probably wouldn't order that again. The appetizers were so good. The drinks that we ordered we're also so good. Some good and bad about this place. They have complimentary valet which is helpful because the street it's on seemed very busy when we got there on a Saturday morning. Look for the red umbrella. We didn't see it and parked and found this out after the fact. It took a really long time to order our food. We ended up getting the appetizer after we were done with our food. The server said he was new so we didn't make any complaints as he was very nice and could tell her was learning still. We got- steak and eggs, crab dip, and a kids burger with fries and a brown butter cake. The highlight of everything was the steak. It was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. The brown butter cake was also delicious. Extremely sweet, but good enough to share amongst three of us. Our eggs and potatoes were actually cold, the bread served with the crab dip was stale and extremely hard (crab dip was just ok). Went to The Pinery for a Saturday night date with my husband. Food was good and the service was the same. Nothing outstanding but happy for a night out! It was very busy and there seemed to be quite a few regular diners there from overhearing conversations. We had the Crab Dip - it was fine. For $18 you would expect more crab and less bread crumbs. It had very little crab and enough dip in the shallow dish to fill 4 of the crostinis it came with. It was good to split as 2 people to try, but I wouldn't get it again. We ordered French fries as an appetizer too. They came out cold. Drink was okay, nothing outstanding. We appreciated that they had local beers on the menu. Our server, Joey, was very good. Pork chop entree was good. Truffle risotto didn't taste like truffles at all except for the shaving of pure truffle on top (nice touch, just wish the risotto actually tasted like truffles too). Not the best risotto we've ever had but not the worst. The grilled chicken on top of the risotto had a nice char-grill and the plating was attractive! WOW! What an amazing 5-star experience! Two other Yelpers and I made a Bite 30 reservations and we all walked away extolling the extraordinary dinner adventure we had. We were seated in a corner booth next to the bar. The atmosphere of this place is warm and inviting. The bar itself is also something to see. Very cool! Our server was Joey D. and he himself provided 5-star expertise, which enhanced the evening. He made great recommendations as well as giving us enough space to enjoy the meal and our conversations afterwards. Now for the food. Since there were three of us, we tried the entire Bite 30 menu and shared each plate. Course 1 consisted of Coconut Shrimp, Zucchini Fries and Ivanhoe Short Rib Tacos. Each item was amazing and was more than sufficient for the three of us. The Short Rib Tacos were stuffed with delicious tasting short rib. We were at 5-stars right off the bat. Next, came Course 2, which consisted of a Pork Chop, Casa Verde Mofongo and Chicken Fried Steak. The pork chop had a succulent brown sugar glaze and came with sautéed green beans and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. The pork chop was juicy and delicious. The Casa Verde Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish (which I just learned about this evening), consisting of sautéed bell peppers, red onions, sweet corn, and mashed plantains in a spicy remoulade. One of my friends is Puerto Rican and gave this dish high marks as did I. Finally, the chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked and came with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, broccoli and sawmill gravy. We enjoyed these three dishes immensely. Course 3 consisted of the following desserts: Key Lime pie, Midnight Chocolate Ganache and Banana Bread Pudding. The Key lime pie was excellent as was the banana bread pudding. We thought the midnight chocolate ganache was a little too sweet for us, as it was truly a decadent dessert. However, you will not get any complaints from us about this restaurant. What we also liked was that the portions were the normal dinner size not a reduced size for the Bite 30 event. As stated previously, we all had plenty of good food to enjoy. The overall meal and experience was truly five stars and this restaurant is highly recommended by all three of us. My partner ordered from the Bite 30 menu, short rib tacos for the starter. These were a very large portion and were excellent! He got the chicken fried steak and key lime pie. I ordered from the regular menu, nice salmon with risotto. The fish was very good, better than the chicken fried steak I think. Due to a schedule conflict, we canceled our reservation at a steakhouse in Winter Park and celebrated Mothers Day on Saturday, a day early. We found The Pinery and wanted to give it a trial. The only spot open was at 4:30 pm, so we made the reservation and showed up, valet parking and came in. We were sat immediately. The hostess seemed stressful, without any smiles, she took away 2 out 4 silverware and plate sets on our table for a party of 3. 12 minutes went by. The crowded dining room had 2 servers. A booth of 6 next to us were waiting for their drinks patiently. I finally got up and let the hostess know that nobody stopped by. She said someone would be with us soon. About 4.minutes later, a lady stopped, said sorry, and took our drink orders, a Pineapple Sugar, a Macha Mojito, and a glass of Napa Valley Chardonnay. She also brought us 3 glasses of water. More servers started coming. Finally, Mark introduced himself, took our food orders. The food was delicious. We shared the Steamed Clams and Brie and Petal Honey. They were so good that we had to ask Mark fir extra crispy bread slides. For entrees, my wife had the Brussel Salad with Anchovy, and she loved it. My son had the Pork Chop while I tried the Crab Stuffed Salson. Excellent food and temperature. We were quite full for desserts, but Mark insisted, so we decided to order a Humingbird Cake and was informed that ithere was no more. Then we took the today's special, which was a strawberry pudding. It took 15 minutes to get the dessert with 3 spoons because, according yo Mark, they made a new patch. In my own opinion, this operation was not well prepared for a such busy Saturday on one of the busiest events. We saw the manager being the server assistant delivering food for his servers, while he was super friendly, and we and the servers appreciated him, he should have led his crew. Was looking for a restaurant that has a great view/sunset and when I found The Pinery, I knew I had to try it! There is a dock across the street where you can see downtown in the distance and also sunset. The restaurant itself has outdoor and indoor seating. On a Tuesday evening it was actually decently busy. We were seated inside and the service was quick. We ordered the bread service as an appetizer I think the buttermilk biscuit and cinnamon honey butter is makes it - unfortunately the southern fry bread and jalapeño bread were dry and not as good. I ordered the smash burger as an entree and it was okay, nothing to write home about. While I didn't order a dessert, they seemed to have some great options. The fry bread was overcooked, but they gave us some more cornbread. My husband ordered the key lime martini that could have been a dessert. We wanted to celebrate my autistic brother getting his first job in Orlando and found this spot through my Chase credit card rewards. The location had complimentary valet as the street parking can be a little challenging in this area so that was a huge plus. We enjoyed their half price wine glasses during golden hour, such a great offering. From the start of our meal to the end, the food was exceptional. What made it even more of an experience was the awesome waiter (Merlin) we had. He went above and beyond to take care of us. Started with the crab dip and little toasts and it was great, high quality crab (not fishy) and cheesy! Would highly recommend. He recommended the special for the day which I ordered and holy crap, it was amazing. Huge grouper cooked to perfection with a light curry and creamy corn sauce that had just the right heat. All of this over some jasmine rice... we were in heaven. Parents got a fried grouper sandwich that was huge, and had their amazing wedge salads. My brother got the pork chop that had a perfectly sweet exterior, mashed potato's and carrots. We ordered the hummingbird cake and it had so much flavor with the cream cheese frosting and toasted pecans. Our waiter surprised my brother with their butter cake that was cooked to melt in your mouth. If you want to explore Ivanhoe Village area and want an incredible meal or snack, head to this place. The Pinery was an unexpected delight, ranging from the quality of their dishes to the friendliness of their staff... although my wife did find our server's cell phone in the ladies room right after we arrived, so we started off on a winning note. The non alcoholic pineapple sugar was sweet and refreshing, and would have went well with rum or vodka. The alligator tacos were tasty, albeit somewhat dry, and the bread service was a filling appetizer. There were two dishes that were absolute knockouts, the first being the Brussel Caesar Salad. Perfectly cooked, perfectly tasty with homemade croutons and pork lardons, topped with a Parmesan medallion. The second knockout was the grass fed filet, which my wife was quoted as saying, was the best filet of her life. I didn't know what a mofongo was, so I went with the Birria Mofongo. Still don't really know what it is, but it sure was scrump. Bonus: the manager stopped by our table to chat and dropped a hot little hint. Came here on a Friday night around 530pm and had reservations. Parking is a bit tricky unless you do their valet but we were able to do street parking a short walk by. We were surprised the place was quite busy for the time slot but I suppose that's one of the perks for being on the Michelin guide. The vibes are southern upscale, but still to a point where we felt comfortable with our 2 year old and our 2 week old baby at the restaurant. Ordered the pot pie and the market price grass-fed filet for our mains, as well as a side of the Brussels sprouts. The filet was tender and perfectly cooked to our medium-rare order; the bacon wrapped asparagus accompanied it well. The Brussels sprouts were ok. The pot pie was a big miss; the chicken chunks were too big and overpowered the rest of the ingredients, and the gravy inside was more of a broth than a gravy. 3.5 stars but will round it up to 4 as they were accommodating of our children and the service was top-notch as well. This was our first time visiting the Pinery and we were very impressed! We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were seated in a booth right away. The restaurant was open and spacious and not too loud which we liked. Our server Alex came over to greet us and take our drink order right after we were seated. She asked if we had dined there before and since we hadn't, she went over some of the options for us. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare and the Whipped Brie and Petal Honey, both of which were excellent. I would have preferred a softer bread for scooping up the whipped brie, but the toasts worked. We ordered the Crab Stuffed Salmon and the Pork Chop which came out piping hot and cooked to perfection. The pork chop was tender and juicy, and the mashed potatoes were a nice side. The green beans were firm and snappy and not over cooked which is the way they should be. The Crab Stuffed Salmon left me speechless, it was one of the more flavorful seafood dishes I have had in a long time, and it literally melted in my mouth - Amazing! Alex was fantastic, always checking to see if we needed anything and refreshing our waters and drinks as needed. Cameron, who I am guessing is a manager stopped by to ask how everything was and he actually took the time to talk with us, not some cursory walk by. The anniversary dessert was a wonderful touch which Alex and Cam did without us asking. We will definitely be going ack to the Pinery and recommend you give it a try. read more

I've avoided trying this place for several years (I had my reasons). I finally went for brunch yesterday when my plans for the day had to be scrapped. So glad I finally broke down. The only reason it's not a 5 is the service. The waiter just didn't seem interested. It was toward the end of brunch, around 2pm, so the restaurant was pretty empty. I had to go in search of things for myself rather than waiting for Jonas. But EVERYTHING else was fantastic! The venue is beautiful inside and out. I ate outside and it was perfect. The bartender was cheery and full of information. She even got the chef to make an item for me but available normally on the brunch menu. And the food was scrumptious! I had the crab dip which is served with a nice toast for dipping. And I had the chicken & biscuit prepared "chef,s way,"!meaning add bacon, cheese, hot honey to an already superior dish. I made reservations ahead of time, and upon arrival we did valet parking (street parking seemed limited). The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and the ambiance is perfect for a date night or a nice dinner with friends. When we checked in, we were told there would be about a 10-minute wait since other reservations were running behind, but it wasn't bad at all. Once seated in a cozy booth, our server, Marlon, greeted us right away with waters and gave us time to look over the menu. For drinks, my friend ordered the Lady Russell and I had the Tropical Passion Fruit Moscato, which was refreshing and light. Since it was Magical Dining, the menu was a $40 three-course set. For appetizers, my friend had the pork belly tacos (which were decent but had a bit of a charcoal aftertaste), and I tried the broiled blue crab dip, which was delicious and creamy. For entrées, my friend went with the Wild Mushroom Truffle Risotto, while I ordered the Shrimp & Clam Perloo. I had pictured the dish differently in my head, but it still ended up being flavorful and enjoyable. This was my first visit to The Pinery. It exceeded my expectations. The service was lovely and the ambience nice. You could enjoy your food and have a conversation with your friends. We went for Bite 30 and I had the Shrimp Tacos, Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans, followed by the peach cobbler. The chicken fried chicken was exceptional. It's not something I would normally order given it's usually dry. Not this chicken. What ever they are doing in the kitchen they are doing right. The only misstep of the night was the peach cobbler. While the puff pastry was flaky and had a great flavor. The peaches could have been cooked a little longer. And the ratio of peaches to pastry was off. But, over all I truly enjoyed my meal at The Pinery. And will definitely visit again. They also have complimentary valet parking which is a huge bonus given the location. read more

Went here for New Year's Eve dinner and had a lovely experience! The Pinery has a beautiful and swanky dining room, great vibes all around. Our table was delighted by the menu. It offers something for everyone and at varying price points, which I always think is nice! Had the beet salad with shrimp as a lighter option, chicken pot pie and the chicken sandwich- all great! Stopped by the pinery for a date night and it was okay. The service was great but the food lacked a bit of flavor for me personally. We had the chicken pot pie and the prime rib sandwich for our entrees. Those I felt were mid but I did enjoy our appetizers. We had the Brussel Caesar salad, and shrimp ceviche I loved the brussel salad! I would probably come back during happy hour. read more

Immediately from arrival it felt very welcoming. We received it right away and welcome by our waiter Merlin (I could be spelling it wrong but he's the guy from Turks and Caicos) since it was a girl's Meetup, we haven't seen each other in a while. The waiter gave us ample time to kind of catch up with each other and go to the menu. We never felt rushed. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my friend ordered The steak and eggs. The steak and eggs needed a little bit more flavor but after a little bit of seasoning did not disappoint. My shrimp and grits were flavored perfectly well blend it with just enough kick. We ordered the pinery sunrise. But was very bitter and had to be sent back but the waiter understood and bar tender came over to help with other options. Mid way thru our drinks a bee landed and the bartender with out asking replaced the drink. (Which was unexpected) Overall awesome brunch experience hands down would recommend. We did an activity across from the Restaurant, I was so hungry we literally walked in and asked if they were still open. The restaurant was a little empty because it was close to closing time. Nice ambiance, could be a little casual but not too much, also would make a good date spot. We ordered: Chef's burger(medium) with truffle fries: Cooked perfectly, it was soo good!! And the fries nice and crispy just like I wanted. Sweet Tea Brined Chicken, it's a chicken sandwich, the chicken was so light not heavily breaded like most places tend to do, and perfectly fried, though the burger was great, the chicken was excellent. I don't remember what my drink was but it was delicious:) I read after that it was a Michelin Restaurant and I can see why. I don't want to be mean, because if you want a place to grab a snack and a cocktail their bartenders are on point and some of the best I have encountered in Winter Park/Orlando proper. However, despite their menu, their food is always wanting in terms of timing and quality despite the ambiance of the space. Honestly, if I wanted a meal to help me break up with someone or maybe repair a relationship this is where I would bring them because of the share frustration of the kitchen not meeting the quality of the menu. Not to go into a full diatribe, but the smoked duck is a perfect example of everything wrong with the Pinery on the food side of the business. Normally it takes more than an hour to get to the table after ordering. The Brussel sprouts are burnt and borderline inedible even for a person who LOVES char as a flavor accent. The duck is rubbery, even the fatty bits. The literal best part of the meal is the mushroom rice which after the failings of the main dish feel like I'm getting played and they are like some variation of instant rice pilaf with rehydrated mushrooms. I just have no idea how they can be this consistently bad. Again, apologies to the bartenders who carry the restaurant despite all of is glaring failings. read more

Its very unfortunate that there are no vegetarian or vegan entrees other than a salad. I would think that they could at least offer at least entree. Very frustrating to nibble on my sad salad while the carnivores in my group were chowing down. read more

This was my last restaurant for the 2025 Bite 30 season, and I am very happy that I ate here. It was a bit hard to find with the night crowds near downtown on a Saturday, but I was able to find it and use the complimentary valet parking. When I checked in, I noticed the live musician in front. I was seated in a table near the restroom and kitchen area. For my drink, I tried the vodka drink called Pretty In Pink. I thought the name was a bit odd as the drink was more yellow color, and I didn't taste the strawberry syrup advertised, but I still enjoyed it as it was citrusy and refreshing. It first tasted a bit light, but it did buzz me a bit afterwards. Maybe they gave me another drink by accident, but I still liked it. For my appetizer, the shrimp ceviche was great. I used the plantain chips to scoop it up, which was quite enjoyable. The shrimp, avocado, and other diced vegetables tasted fresh and the citrus juices enhanced the flavors. My main dish was the salmon, and I was surprised that the portion was quite generous. It had an ample filet, nicely roasted and flaky. The salmon had the light fishy flavor I enjoyed, and the orange glaze had the right amount of sweetness. The lemon orzo with wilted spinach was soft and light. I was so happy with the portions that I took some home to enjoy for the next day. For dessert, the creme brulee was the perfect end. It was bruleed just right that I could easily crack open and enjoy the refreshing cool orange flavored creme. I wished it was portioned a bit more because I loved it so much. My server was friendly and helpful, but she did seem a bit busy and tired. She did check up with me and was professional the whole time. The atmosphere looked more upscale and darker than I remembered. I wonder if they either expanded or renovated since the last time I visited. I really enjoyed the live music and the social crowd. It made my dining alone less lonely. This restaurant completed a perfect 4 out of 4 with 5 stars on Yelp from me for the 2025 Bite 30 season. I really loved the food, atmosphere, service, and value. The live musician was a bonus too. If they participate in magical dining in September, I would highly consider in dining here again this year. read more
