Confession: I prefer LJs to The Pines and came here occasionally when LJs was located here. Last night I joined a group of friends who had planned an outing at The Pines and out of the few times I've been, this was my favorite. Our server, Annie, was so gracious, helpful and attentive. I ordered a couple of things from the Starters: Pakora Fritters and Homestyle Stew. At a glance, my choices might seem an odd pairing but wound up being very good, plus both are gluten free. The stew was much more brothy than I was expecting so I broke up a couple of fritters into small pieces and tossed in to thicken the broth. Hey, it might not be for everyone but I would definitely order both and do the same again next time. Their lighting is a bit dark so my pic isn't great, but I finished every last bit in my bowl. read more

Very surprised by the level of food here! They started by bringing out a bowl of seasoned popcorn that was a nice touch. We had this huge arugula salad and then tempura cauliflower. And then... we had this pot pie that legit blew my mind. Like this shouldn't have tasted so good! Cocktails were on point cause I ordered a soda water with lemon and lime and they legit brought me basically a fresh squeezed lemonlimeaide lol. That really impressed me. 4 stars only cause it took forever for our server to greet us. I always get bummed out when a table that's seated after you gets the service first. I recently moved to Lake Stevens and had read great things about the Pines (I had already been to LJ's and was blown away there). I decided to swing by for a quick drink since I had one of those rare hours to kill. First impression: A very nice place with the perfect balance of class and comfort. Big fan of the low lighting, bar setup, seating, etc. I grabbed a seat at the bar and chatted with the bartender Brandon for a bit. This was a busy night, and I was amazed at how fast and efficient both he and the rest of the team was. More importantly, Brandon makes a world class cocktail. He is also extraordinarily knowledgeable in this area. I am pretty picky about my old fashioned, but he made one of the best I've ever had. I didn't have much time that evening but I told him I'd come back with my wife the following Saturday for date night. Second impression: On Saturday my wife and I dressed up and went to the Pines again, as planned. We had dinner and plenty of drinks. Brandon was there again to wow us with his expertise. His Manhattan was just as good as old fashioned. In fact, he even made an old fashioned with a creative twist of his own making which was every bit as good as the well-loved classic. In summary: This is a great place and it has a top notch Bartender in Brandon. Give him a raise---Do whatever it takes to keep him there forever. If I was opening up a classy joint myself, I would stop in and try to hire him for whatever price I could manage. He knows his stuff, is super friendly and conversational, and makes a top notch cocktail. You can't beat that! read more

This is one of the best restaurants in Snohomish County! The bar is excellent. My faves are the margaritas, rotating frose, and as the you had me at Prosecco. The food menu is great too. My fave dishes are the chicken sandwich, French fries, chicken wings, and brisket sandwich. I love coming for happy hour and late night dates. read more

Beautiful restaurant in Lake Stevens. The interior is reminiscent of a Yellowstone lodge, with a peeled log and exposed beam interior complete with fireplace. Food is always quality. If you can catch a pop-up night by one of the local chefs, be there. read more

We were so excited after our first bite into our fish tacos! The BEST fried fish I've ever eaten. The pitcher of Cadillac margarita was Devine and not overly sweet. The server was sweet. Can't wait for next Thursday to have fish & chips. read more

Friendly staff with a midwest sportsman vibe. I shared a salad and the chicken dish with my lady, and when the chicken came I made a joke about how small it was and if they were using baby chickens.... But it was quite good, very flavorful and satisfying. Next time I go I'm going to sit on the patio which was quite lively, we will be back! read more

Came here on Election Night. Reminded me of a London pub mixed with a Brooklyn bar--hip layout with a twist on the standard pub food. The service was attentive, the food was tasty (garam masala popcorn as an appetizer! Well-plated chicken and quinoa!), there was a lovely array of beers on tap, and the prices were perfectly reasonable! Oh, and no politics on the bar TV--just classic movies. ;) read more

Been to the pines twice now, once with friends and once for takeout. Both times were great service! We loved the small cozy atmosphere when we dined in, and the cocktail menu is pretty unique and awesome. The food is really good though the menu is somewhat limited. The popcorn they serve on the table (And it comes with takeout as well) is simply delicious! And such a fun idea. The food was out quickly both for dine in and carry out, and it was definitely really good. Anything on the menu is a winner! We loved the unique dishes and the weekly specials are awesome. Fantastic staff, great drinks, and amazing pot pies. This is our favorite spot for a night cap, or a delicious snack.

It was my first time at Pines with my wife. She came here with friends and loved it and recommended it. The service is good the food I ordered was great, the Mezcal cocktail was awesome. We finally checked out The Pines after loving their sister restaurant, LJs for a while. I'm so glad we did. It's super cute- almost like like a "fancy dive bar", if that makes sense. The professional bartender, Brandon was amazing, funny and great at his job. It's so refreshing to see someone so committed to his craft! I told him to just surprise me and I'm so glad I did. Stopped by for drinks. My hubby asked for a gin and tonic. He was given a gin and soda. We asked what tonic he used and the bartender pulled up some bottle with no label. He said he had no idea. We told him it wasn't tonic and the bartender asked "well is it drinkable?" Not worth going here. read more

I want to start this off with saying I love ljs bistro, I adore Lindsey and her bistro staff and part of her pines staff. The food is decent at the pines. Nothing compared to ljs, but def up there. Drinks are good. Even Jonah, and the staff are great. My issue is that one of the workers, Nolan, has a quick tongue. One that should be watched as he may have issues when he is in his 20s. Dude, just watch what you say, your tone, and how you speak to customers. Or one day, it won't end well. Especially towards women. Yeah I overheard you being crude to a woman and it's not cool. I guess that's what we get from that generation? But, the rest of the staff are amazing here and at LJs. read more

The Pines is my favorite place to come to for drinks and food. I'm here nearly every Thursday for flight night and I have no plans on changing that anytime soon. It is a little bit on the pricey side but in my opinion it's definitely worth it. The staff is great along with the drinks and food! Outdoor patio is very nice and it's heated! I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with fries which was $18. French fries were way too salty and sandwich was okay. Reluctantly giving this place 5 stars. It's my go-to watering hole, and I don't want it to get too busy. I don't eat the food here, just enjoy the great beverages and atmosphere. This is a great place. Seating outside was not an option because of the air quality. Inside was spotlessly clean and inviting. Wait staff was outstanding. Started with a jalapeño peach margarita that was as good as it was interesting. I had the Tri tip and it was outstanding. Aggressive seasoned and cooked to perfection. Great salad and wings. Desert was a chocolate tort with homemade rum ice cream. Best new place we have found. This will be a new favorite. read more

Being fairly new to the area we're always on the lookout for restaurants to try out. In doing a search for places with takeout, I saw a Yelp listing for The Pines. The first online menu I found had entrees in the $11 to $13 range. That must have been a lunch menu because when I found the menu through Yelp the entrees were different and the prices ranged from $19 to $22. Seemed a bit spend, but for a great meal and something new it would be worth it. We ordered the Tri-tip steak which came with French fries and fresh vegetables. The second choice was the pot pie which came with mashed potatoes with a funny name. The order was ready right on time and the bartender who got the order for me was very nice. Got the food home and unboxed it and was a little surprised by what we got for our nearly $50. $50 still seems like a lot of money for dinner for two at a very casual restaurant. The steak was supposed to be medium well done but was still pretty bloody. The fries were pretty dark brown like they'd been overcooked and were super salty. The fresh veggies were three partial cobs of corn that tasted like they'd been heated up from the day before. I was looking forward to the $19 pot pie. What I envisioned was a big homemade version of those big Marie Callendars frozen pot pies. What I got was a Banquet sized pot pie complete with the aluminum foil pot pie dish and a big helping of (once again) very salty mashed potatoes. I happen to like salty food so I enjoyed the potatoes and the pie. I just didn't $19 enjoy them. Bottom line is the serving size of the entrees and the quality of the food do NOT justify spending nearly $50. read more

Move on if you want take out. Smoked Cod chowder had "0" fish in it. In order to qualify as Cod Chowder there needs to be Cod! Just leeks and broth. Not worth $9.00. Fish and chips was average flavor wise and came with 1 tiny tartar. With tax and tip, it was not worth the over $30 we paid. Unfortunate. I have been there a few times and I have never met a more rude, disrespectful person in customer service than the clearly full of himself bartender there! One time a few weeks ago he was even badmouthing the owner!! I am surprised he has a job at all. I wanted to complain to the manager because of the way he treats his customers, each time I was there it was something, or the way he talks to his coworkers, which was more rudeness, but I wasn't sure who it was, and my friend was too embarrassed to complain and said he was like that a lot. I really don't like to give my patronage to a place that would employ someone like that, especially when there are so many worthwhile people out there, so I definitely won't be going back. I wonder how many others have done the same without speaking up. People in my friend group had the same ooinion. It's quite sad, he is taking up a position of so many who understand good Customer Service and how to treat people and who would work hard and be so much more deserving. read more

We bought tickets to the Prohibition costume party. We were extremely disappointed after dressing in costume, we were seated away from most of the people. We inquired if there was going to be a costume contest, our server told us they were not having one, which surprised us since it was advertised that they were. A few minutes later the waitress invited a few people sitting next to us to go into the room next door for the contest. She did not invite us. We were surprised that she didn't invite everyone. We also had to ask for our complimentary champagne, which should have been automatically given to us upon arrival. We were surprised that it was called a prohibition party, since there wasnt a host or anything out of the ordinary about the restaurant bar. We were very disappointed in the event, which we were really looking forward to ., and took extra time coming up with a good costume. read more
