    Shrimp Cesar

I liked John's but felt like they could have done more. For a steakhouse with a view, most people here were in sweat pants and there were a lot of kids. This definitely brought down the overall vibe a lot and made it feel more like a chain restaurant than a steakhouse. I got a shrimp Cesar and it was totally average. The shrimp was seasoned well, the lettuce was fine. It's not really something that can be made spectacular so my expectations weren't too high. The staff was fine. They were attentive but forgot a few things. Our waitress also asked my mother in law how she'd like her salmon cooked which was odd, then doubled down and said that most people order it medium rare...which I doubt. The chocolate mousse was great but served in an odd cup which made it hard to eat out of. I probably won't return on my own but wouldn't turn down a free meal here from the in-laws either.

We arrived around Noon on a Sunday and were seated right away. The hostess, who was also our server, was pleasant and attentive. Food: my boyfriend's burgers with fries was very good. The eggs on my avocado toast were perfectly poached, and the tomato chutney was divine. However, the toast was small, thin, and burnt and the avocado was not quite ripe like. I chose fruit as a side. It was a sizable portion of fresh fruit, which was a nice surprise. The setting is quaint and peaceful. The sticky floors were gross. For the price, I expect a solid avocado toast and clean floors. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for good service.

Very cozy , upscale and quiet restaurant. Wouldn't recommend coming with small kids. Despite having a hungry toddler, the service was prompt and welcoming! Food flavors were top notch, in a dark candle lit ambiance . Portions were on the smaller side and they ran out of the fresh bruschetta on the menu. We had the seafood linguine- 10/10 recommend Salmon PNW- 6/10 . Over priced for a small piece of salmon with roasted potato. Clam chowder- 8/10 . Rich with clams and corn. Studded by bacon bits. Either the bowl was too tiny or we couldn't get enough Wrapped up with a brownie sundae for dessert.

After a few attempts to celebrate my husband, we finally made it back in and it was awesome! From start to finish the service, atmosphere, drinks and food were spot on. A chef local to the area and a server with my husbands name? You got us! My husband is a lover of the Diamond Knot IPA so it's awesome it's on draft. I was shown the perfect wine to pair with my shrimp salad. Which by the way was my second choice as they had unfortunately ran out of their salmon special, but that just goes to show you how amazing it is. My husbands steak melted in our mouth yet again and my salad had the perfect amount of dressing. Our water glasses stayed full and helped us decide on getting dessert, it was lemon and it was good! They gifted a sundae to my husband for his birthday and promotion gift, super sweet! Looking forward to going back soon! MUST TRY! Remember to make reservations to ensure a nice seat!

John's Grill is a hidden gem. Situated right off Mukilteo Speedway next to the ferry terminal with some view. My wife and I have been here before thus the repeat business. This restaurant is a must try for anniversary, birthday , romantic date night, etc. as the ambience is romantic with dimly lit lightings and decor. The main reason for us to come back here is their crab cakes. They have the best crab cakes locally and I've had others but not as good as John's. The breading is light with a slight crunch and not oily. The crab meat portion is generous and the sauce is perfectly seasoned. I highly recommend this appetizer. For entree, we ordered the Seafood Linguine and an 8oz Filet Mignon. The seafood linguine, pasta not overcooked, shrimps were good size and not overcooked, scallops were fresh and not dry. The cream sauce was delicious with the right amount of seasoning. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. Some places cooked medium rare either too rare or too well done for my liking. Cutting into the steaks was like a hot knife through butter. Paired with the creamy mashed potatoes with a hint of chimichurri sauce just melts in your mouth. The vegetables were cooked just right and not mushy. I don't like overcooked vegetables. For dessert, we had the Orange cardomom bread pudding. John's use Macrina Bakery brioche topped with a hint of orange and cream sauce with caramel and the bread was baked nicely with a little bit of crispy crust. Overall sweetness is just right for my taste. I would rate the sweet level 4/5, 5 being too sweet. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. The host was well informed about their specials. Waitress and hostess were very friendly and welcoming. This restaurant isn't for everyone as their prices reflects quality, service and a fine dining experience. This is not your stop and go, it's more for special occasions or it just fit the bill for some. Compared to other high end restaurants this place does justice as we don't have to drive to Bellevue or downtown Seattle for fine dining and to justify the price, this place is actually reasonable.

Huge crab cake, full of crab meat with a slightly crispy seared crust. Delicious.

One of my favorite things about traveling to out-of-the-way places is the occasional outstanding meal that comes as a complete surprise. Tucked away in Mukilteo, John's Grill is a small but cozy and welcoming restaurant that seeks to offer something a little higher end. Its specialties are seafood and steak, but you can add fantastic service and excellent cocktails to the list. The friendly staff attended to us even though we got there after 8 p.m., and they close at 9. The menu is small but focused, which means they put all their effort in a few very strong dishes. We were waited on by Tyler, who also happened to be the restaurant's general manager. He recommended the crab cake and roasted broccoli to start, and I (having eaten a lot at lunch) ordered a Caesar salad with grilled prawns while my brother opted for the swordfish. All I can say is, if Tyler suggests something, listen to him. He knows what's up. The crab cake was both crispy and tender, very meaty with lots of crab and not a lot of filler. It's a big crab cake, so definitely good for sharing among 2-3 people. The broccoli dish was one of the most interesting dishes I had ever eaten, with a spicy aioli and a delicious pecan paste that was so good I wanted to put it on everything. Our entrees were also outstanding. My Caesar salad was lightly dressed with a very tasty dressing, croutons, and nicely seasoned local prawns. My brother's swordfish (freshly delivered from Costa Rica and handled on site) was delicious, even though a little on the salty side. But the things we'll remember the most are Tyler's attentive service, and what was perhaps one of the best vodka martinis we've ever had. Martinis are simple but notoriously difficult to perfect. The vodka martini at John's was worth the trip by itself. Tyler is also very knowledgeable about wine, so it was fun to try his suggestions. All of this to say that if you're looking for finer dining (or just a special meal) and excellent service and cocktails, John's is the place to go in the Mukilteo area.

This place over charges for very little accommodations. No bottled, purified water options, no bbq, no pickles, no chalupa, no zapatio, no, no and no are the consistent answers. Why are you charging $25 for a chicken sandwich without any inventory??

I came here recently with my wife and mother-in-law for dinner. The dinner was very good and I would go back. The highlight was the clam chowder with corn, absolutely as good as any chowder I have had. My wife had the highly acclaimed $28 crab cake which is huge, but was a disappointment, basic shredded crab with heavy breading and she prefers lump crab cakes. For a main, I had the seafood linguine which had lots of seafood (scallops, lump crab, and shrimp) and good sauce/noodles. My wife had the salmon and said it was amazing. They have a solid wine list including Caymus and even Quilceda Creek ($245 a bottle). We settled for some Michael David Freaksbow which was really good.

Not my normal stomping grounds , but while dating a lovely man who lives here, i have become spoiled by these little diamond dining places in the Mukilteo area he has been taking me to . It was Thanksgiving eve and he said "dress up, I'm going to take you somewhere romantic" And he did. And it was . Very understated , top tier feelings evoked! The room, darkened & candlelit . Sexy private booths, understated but all premium bar , linen napkins and the food was just divine! Get the crabcake & share it as an appetizer , Id recommend the prawn Caesar and the salmon , and i'd give the whole thing 5 stars all around .

Ribeye, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables and a mushroom gravy.

The setting is hard to beat, especially on a nice day when you can take in the scenery while dining. The seafood was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, and the overall food quality was excellent. Food was definitely better this time around. I opted with the seafood salad, which was what it sounded like. The one thing that stood out to me were the smoked scallops, which I could have just ate a whole plate of. There was a fair amount of seafood amongst the plate. Tip: Mondays are half price bottled wine, which was probably the best deal of the night. Now for my salad and bowl of soup I think was around $50+. I'm not afraid to spending money, but I can say you must be paying for the view, and I get it. But the overall price we paid. Idk. The service was a glaring issue, in which I think there were a total of maybe 10 tables that were taken in the whole restaurant. The server was nice enough, but not attentive at all. Now I'm not going to lie the birthday boy set up his dinner for 7pm on a Monday. We did not know that Ivars closed at 8....and no one even told us at any point. I get this was to be polite, but had we known we probably would have been out of there a lot earlier. We did end up leaving at 10 to 9, but probably could have been gone a lot earlier had anyone mentioned that they closed at 8 or we didn't have to wait for our bill for 20+ minutes. I did feel bad after knowing we stayed so late, but like I said there was a definite lack of communication. Also one last thing. Charging for the bread, I don't know if that's new, but seems rather silly to me. I feel like I'm being generous with the 4 star review, in actuality closer to 3.5, I just feel bad making them stay until after close.

In short Great deals on great drinks, food is really solid,…read moreand the setting is nice and friendly. Only drawback is that the hours are limited. In long Lately we've been seeking out places that are literally quieter--less volume on the music, more space between the tables, and so on. I'd been wanting to check out 5x5, anyway, since it's the only spot around with an exactly perfect rating score. It looked like it'd fit the bill for a low-key place, and off we went. We came in shortly after they opened on a Saturday (4:00 PM). You're in a larger business-traveler hotel here, aimed at Boeing and Boeing-sub folks traveling for work. The building looks kinda generic from outside, but there's plenty of parking, and the lobby has a high-ceilinged atrium vibe for sure. Nice floor tiles, nice carpet, tasteful furniture. Everything's in perfect shape. You don't feel the lounge vibe right away, but there's a gigantic fireplace ahead of you, warming both sides of the room from the middle. Around that, there are lots of sturdy, shiny tables under the lofty ceilings. Off to the side, there's a little lounge area, then another one. Everything in the lounge is bar-height seating, and there are a few flatscreens, probably showing the game. Most folks are in here, sitting around the bar in the middle of the room. We posted up at a table just outside the lounge. Lindsey was behind the bar, and cheerfully answered every single question we had about food and all their cocktails. She's super friendly and makes a great drink for sure. She seems to have a bunch of regulars who aren't staying at the hotel, which is a great sign, no doubt. We checked out the warm pretzel--such a decadent treat. The waffle fries (and especially the aioli that came with them) were awesome. The pizza was a great choice; we added pickled onions to the Speedway. The crust could be a little crisper but we took home what we didn't finish and it's great here, too. Service on food and drinks was really quick. The cocktails here can be really creative, and there are lots of classics with house twists on the recipe. They even have a pisco sour they've tweaked--that's a fair bit of work for a bartender to make mid-shift. We got 5 great drinks and 3 nice plates of food for $96, and I don't think we even ordered anything from the HH menu. This is a very easy place to add to the rotation.

Way too expensive for a hotel lobby bar. If you want locals to come hang out make it affordable.read more

I ordered the French toast and requested it extra crispy. It arrived perfectly golden brown, topped with fresh berries and real whipped cream--absolutely delicious! I also had over-medium eggs that were seasoned perfectly, although they were a little closer to over easy than medium. Still, they were very good. The only item that fell a bit short was the chicken sausage, which was average and could have used a little more flavor. My husband ordered the pancakes, and they were delicious.
