Just what I needed! I was feeling like crap this morning and couldn't make it to brunch but my husband brought me back a biscuit egg sandwich and it was perfection. The renovation here is fantastic; really transformed the old Tiso's into something rustic and hip. Too hip. $15 for a burger, and when I ordered it, there was no bun...so the skimpy portion looked even smaller. No sub offered; just 2 pieces of lettuce. Everyone's mains were so small, at least put down some free bread or breadsticks or beans! Even beans! The prices are way too high for such small dishes. Our server, while nice, did not bring out the appetizer till we were eating our mains; and the place was NOT crowded. I don't see how they will get crowded when charging so much money for so little amount of food; everyone does local; artisanal now; but even Woodnotes at the Emerson is cheaper than this! Great for breakfast. I'd like to love the bar, but the exorbitantly priced cocktails come in tiny glasses, and the whole thing makes you feel like you're being ripped off in some hipster charade. read more

This place is eclectic and homey and warm and friendly. It is everything we expected from the Catskills. We ordered the burger, lentil burger, the chicken, bibimbap and fettuccine. I can honestly say everything was SUPER DELICIOUS!! The burger was moist and flavorful, the lentil burger was the best veggie burger I have ever eaten. Chicken was spot on and moist. The fettuccine was real tasty. The bibimbap was the star for me. It had all the elements and taste of a classic Korean bibimbap but kicked up a notch. The grain (quinoa or something) mixed in with the rice gave it a great texture and all the other ingredients created a party in my mouth. Finished off with chocolate pudding and gingerbread cake. Super cute spot to get coffee and a delicious biscuit. They make a good Bloody Mary and love that they did not give me a plastic straw (I pack my own but often forget to request "no straw"). My wife and I had the most delicious meals here on Wednesday night! We shared the pasta pappardelle with lots of fresh squash and zucchini and the Thai chicken curry which was outstanding! Had two Uncle Tobias cocktails which were unlike anything I've ever tasted before. Our server Danielle was attentive and friendly despite being the only server. Post-dinner included a fun night of Bingo hosted by a greatly amusing guy! One of the best dining experiences we've had in some time! A friend did the murals in the bathrooms at this restaurant, so he and his family brought me there for dinner. The place has a nice local vibe, with a small dining room with some families and bar next to it with a few singles enjoying a drink. Very cozy and rustic and the staff were so friendly and nice. And it was truly amazing - both the food, and the murals, which are certainly worth a trip to the bathrooms! Check out both of the gender-neutral bathrooms to see this incredibly detailed work of art by a local artist. Okay, as amazing as the bathroom murals are, you can't eat them. I ordered a burger, but because I was with the artist of the murals, the owner brought our table all kinds of extra delicious treats. A yummy salad with walnuts, fresh herbs, and I think faro. Also some insanely delicious tarts, one was onion, I can't recall the other but both were so good. Especially the crust, which was a true work of art, as far as pastry crusts go. The burger I ordered blew me away. I don't generally eat beef but was tempted by the local aspect. It was the best burger I've eaten, served with perfectly cooked thick-cut French fries. And then we had a delicious peach dessert tart. The baked goods here are without comparison. It's too bad I live in NYC and not anywhere near here, because I could see myself becoming a regular. I don't even like bars nor do I drink, but when I peered into the bar, it was obvious that this is a friendly and comfortable place where anyone could stop in and enjoy a snack and a drink. My wife and I stopped by The Pines for an early dinner on a Friday night. The dining room is very "cute" as my wife put it, very intimate and rustic. Our server was very nice and helpful. I enjoyed a couple of local beers recommended by her and a cheese platter they offer as an appetizer which was excellent. My wife tried a spicy pasta they had on the menu name slips my mind and I tried The Pines Burger with fries both were delicious, portion wise the entrees are on the small side not enough to leave me hungry. The food consist of local ingredients making everything so fresh tasting. Later we both had a coffee and tried the two desserts on menu a tiramisu and hot chocolate chip cookies. Overall this was a great stop and I we most definitely will come again and I would recommend The Pines to family and friends read more

I went back on my promise to never return and am glad i did! The dinner experience was way different than brunch-waiter service, felt more lively and the food was excellent! The Pines is practically in my backyard and has become a favorite very quickly. The bar area is delightful for dinner or just a drink and a friendly conversation. I also enjoy sitting at the dining tables when there are more than two of us. The food is incredibly fresh and well prepared. So far our favorite is the hamburger which is not too big & not too small, it's JUST right. The sriracha mayo is fantastic! I've had and loved their tomato tart. Think rustic pizza. Yum! Had brunch here yesterday with my husband and one of our best friends. It's such a nice spot--we were in the Catskills for a week and I wish we'd know about it sooner. Had a filling salad of local lettuces, super fresh green beans that felt just picked, feta, and avocado, with a truly divine blueberry crumble muffin (that's what a real crumble should taste like!) Cozy spot with lots of windows and cool furnishings. The staff were fantastic and really friendly to talk to. Outstanding, delicious food, friendly atmosphere and excellent service. We had dinner here twice over a weekend getaway. Friday night in the dining areas (with reservations) and again Saturday night at the bar. Both times the restaurant was full but did not seem overly crowded. Jeremy the owner was a gracious host and chatted with us over drinks. We also met and chatted with some very friendly folks at the bar. Hikers, campers, locals, family and friends of the staff. All very nice. The food was amazing. Over two meals we tried the roasted chicken, pines burger, butternut squash soup, and the sausage tart. All very flavorful and served quickly. when the pines first opened, i wrote a bad review somewhere , dont remember and have not been back since. Now, its totally different, the food was delicious, the portions generous, the wait staff friendly and attentive and the drinks, which were horrendous my first trip were perfect fresh juice with real booze and enough to make it a real cocktail. My husband and I went to this place for dinner on Friday night. The place was amazing. We both ordered pine burger and it was cooked to perfection! The beef patty was juicy and thick with a lot of flavor, the Siracusa mayo bring out the sweetness in the beef patty, the spring mix and pickle add a very nice finishing touch. They also have decent beer selection too. There's a guy playing guitar while we were dinning there and he was pretty good too. The restaurant has a good selection of local farm food. The decoration is very unique and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. We definitely will come back to the restaurant on our next visit to the area. read more

So.... we heard a lot about this place and were urged to go there by a few different people. If you have never been to Woodstock the food there is world class so the bar is high. We have it 4/5 stars because the menu is super limited and a few items normally on the menu were not available and the competition is so fierce. We had a tomato tart which was truly excellent but it was the last one available. My wife had the chicken which was perfectly fine but not out of the ordinary. I had an egg and rice dish which was very good. No seafood was on the menu at all. Overall a perfectly good place high quality food but nothing that made us feel we had to go back another time. read more

We stumbled onto this place driving from Phoenicia back to our place in Woodstock. It's an absolute gem. Terrific food, a kind staff and the perfect mountain inn vibe. I'd go back just for the French fries, but the lentil burger, farro salad and bibimbap were delicious too, all priced super reasonably. Lovely place to hang out -- I had a dinner there recently where I felt there was an effort to put things on the menu that both felt more luxe and were more homey and affordable. Everything is fresh and locally sourced, and the food is delicious. There is a wonderful selection of wines and the wait staff are knowledgable and helpful. There was live music and a relaxed vibe. The area where the bar is located also has a cozy communal table with an incredible bench made out of one long piece of wood. The woodwork/craftsmanship throughout The Pines is striking. In the morning, the bar was converted into a breakfast spread featuring a dazzling selection of fresh baked goods -- the chubby squirrel is not to be missed -- and where omelets and egg sandwiches could be ordered. The coffee is delicious -- I got to meet the man who roasts the coffee beans. The service is wonderful and the proprietor and staff couldn't be more friendly. I will be back. read more

This is probably the worst restaurant I have ever been to. It opens at 6 sharp. We arrived a few minutes early and we forced to wait in the parking lot. Not much of a good first impression. The menu was a huge surprise. Main course entrees were 4. 2 burgers, a veg. Dish, and brisket. The others were considered appetizers or something to share (very Small portions). Now the wait begins. I approached the manager/owner? To ask when our food would be coming out. He did not have the decency to come back to tell us so I went up again and he said 4 minutes. 1 hr later the food arrives but not for everyone. I ordered the brisket which had 1/2 of the plate with cold mash potatoes and a few vegetables that were over cooked...the brisket was all but 3 bites of fat. I sent it back. My husband had a sausage tart which was doughy and uninteresting. French fries were salty. You could not order a green salad. No bread was served. Limited choices. Our friends ordered the chicken soup which was served lukewarm. Service was spotty, water is served in wine bottles but ours was not refilled until we were leaving. A disaster. Finn read more

It sits on a B collect 3 acre setting across from the beautiful Esopus river. This up and Connor features live music and will soon have lodging as well. Last night, we dined at The Pines and the experience could not have been better! Clearly, they've put a lot of thought and work into the kitchen and the food coming out ranks among the best in the Woodstock/Phoenicia region. The Pines creates an atmosphere that carries me back to "old Woodstock" and is filled with amiable, hip locals and weekenders alike. I felt like, any minute, Paul Butterfield was going to stumble in and slide onto a stool in the charming bar area. [On an earlier visit, we did meet a musical celebrity at The Pines, but I'm not one to name drop!] Our meal was delicious from start to finish. We began with the charcuterie platter (to be shared by three people) and the variety of cheeses and meats was tasty and well-selected. Also, the portions were generous and the homemade pickled vegetables and blood orange chutney were superb. Two of us got the Bolina Bowl, which is a well-seasoned, juicy burger with melted smoked blue cheese over a lightly dressed green salad topped with an egg. It was fabulous! My daughter got a vegan risotto with roasted beets and lemongrass that elicited several groans of yumminess. All of us are meat eaters, yet this savory and flavorful vegan dish was a huge hit with the table. The handcrafted drinks were delish and a gooey, hot chocolate chunk cookie was the perfect finishing touch on the meal. We couldn't have had a nicer experience and will be back soon!
