I came here to lunch today with family You seat yourself, which is fine The menus are sitting on the table. It took a little bit, so I went up to the counter and I asked the owner/manager if they still have pulled pork sandwiches here he walk away as I was talking and waiting for an answer?? He started no we don't as he walk away from me and went to the table to assist other customers. I thought that was very odd and rude because he went to where my family was sitting so I went and sat down and then I asked him again and he said no we don't so we started ordering then he said I'll be back came back to our order. He was very disorganized very rude AnyWho I thought that was rude and odd of him. He took our order. I did order a half BLT with the soup $10.89 other family members ordered a mushroom burger / french fries $13.89 other family member ordered mozzarella sticks $7.89 bar like Food (simple food) The services was very poor&slow and at the end we paid the bill $41.00 total I was like for WHAT......... So I ask why (the owner/manager) did you charge us that much He said that we got extra I'm like noooooooooo Any who if it cost extra for cheese on a burger or if it cost extra for your french fries and if it cost extra for dipping sauce for your mozzarella sticks, stay away! Not once when he took our order that he told us there was gonna be extra cost for any of the extra stuff he claimed we added to our order I guess you can't assume that you get french fries with your burger you assume you get cheese on your sandwich or you get dipping sauce for your mozzarella sticks! I politely asked him Why didn't you let us know that there was extra cost for these items? I don't mind paying it when somebody let you know (courtesy)anyways he ended up by returning $3.00 dollars of the $8.00 dollars over charge and told me never to come in the restaurant again, all I'm saying is be AWARE of extra cost people are just trying to get away with whatever they can. Loved this place growing up in cottage grove so decided passing through town to order takeout and the gentleman on the phone was very unpleasant to speak with.. Once I picked up my food, there were multiple small hairs all over my burger.. melted into the cheese and two stuck to the bottom of the bun. It's pretty much a burger place. Reasonably priced with nice side options. It's also coffee shop and ice cream place with a bar sectioned off in a corner. Staff Barbara was friendly and helpful. Everything was hot and pretty fresh. read more

wow! This place has amazing burgers, my favorite being the bacon blue cheeseburger oh yeah! They've got a nice full list of beers on tap homemade ice cream here so great milkshakes my favorite being the hot fudge peanut butter. The fish and chips are really great. Severely understaffed I can't give it a 3 star because I didn't even get food or a drink. why you might ask because we sat there for 30 minutes without even getting asked if would like anything to drink. I ended up walking to the counter and politely asked if we could be helped and I was met with a response of i'm the only one here and I have to help other people first Which on its own would've been fine if the tone of her voice would've been polite but it was not. Cold ice cream, luke warm coffee and dry as the Sahara burgers... The portions are very small! And it doesn't matter that they use 'grass fed, local beef' because cardboard tastes like cardboard. They cook all the flavor right out of the burgers. There's an up-charge for everything, but if they're out of an ingredient, you still pay full price - which is ironic since they're located in the Safeway parking lot! Ambiance: Cozy, eclectic, and fun. Big tv for games. Family friendly with lots to look at for the kiddies. Service: Started out well, but by the end the staff were a little surly. A staffer's attitude made me feel uncomfortable asking for the drinks included in our meals. Food: Burgers - on point!! Had a bleu cheese burger add mushrooms. Stopped in for a quick dinner - was very disappointed in the food quality. Had the rib sampler with portions of baby back and St. Louis style pork ribs. Sauce was tasty but the ribs were extremely tough and rubbery - perhaps they were just pulled out of the smoker too early, but the meat was essentially inedible. Portion size was also lower than expected. Sides were nondescript - mashed potatoes with a somewhat bitter brown gravy, and beans. My son had a burger - decent but nothing special. This place serves a pretty good lunch, all in all. I ordered a sandwich with a side of potato salad and was fairly impressed. The sandwich came on whole grain bread that was really yummy and the potato salad was definitely not scooped out of a plastic bin from food service land... both the sandwich and the potato salad were very tasty. As for the ambience, it's pretty quirky but definitely local. Lots of signs abound reminding folks that "this is NOT fast food", but it's not like it took forever. I didn't notice the wait, let's put it that way. It's more expensive than fast food, but I thought that I got what I paid for. This place would probably not be something that I could afford every day for lunch, but an occasional trip is certainly affordable. Plus they have good ice cream for dessert if you want to splurge. One final note about the ambience: I didn't mind most of it, but I could have done without the too-large television that dominated the not-huge dining room. My real objection was that it was tuned to Fox News (with the sound turned down, thank the deities). Larger-than-life Neil Cavuto staring back at you is sure to turn a stomach or two, or at least mine. If it's a decent day, consider sitting outside. :-) read more

My husband and I visited Pink House today. ( who usually has some pretty good burgers ) TONIGHT WAS HORRIBLE. the service was slow to non existent ( asking for water 3 times and when there were only 3 tables being served including ours ) didnt get our water until AFTER our food came. And only after the third time my husband asked about it. We ordered 1 orange and 1 strawberry lemonade to go with our meals. When they were FINALLY brought, without ice, and watered down. They tasted like watered down Country time powdered lemonade. The "strawberry" flavoring was grenadine?!?! My husbands burger was beyond sub par with burnt bacon on his bacon blue cheese burger. Now, we shall discuss mine.... no pastrami for the pastrami burger so i changed my order, and I ended up ordering the Hawaiian burger, but asked for teriyaki instead of sweet and sour.... only to take a bite and pull out a HAIR !!!..... UGG and to make things even worse ... when I told the waitress, she argued with me .... saying i dont know whos hair that is ....she asked the cook, and yhe cook said "it couldnt be mine, I have short hair" who cares you served me a burger with hair, i dont need you to argue with me ..... that was so gross !!! i am more than disappointed and if i could give -10 stars i would ...... so disappointed we ended up going next door to Safeway to get food to make ANOTHER dinner at home. This was the WORST DINING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. The food is awful, the service is awful, the building is awful. We sat down and it took them 30 minutes to come take our order, they never brought water, they brought out our food one at a time, when we asked for water she rolled her eyes, when our food finally arrived the BURGER WAS NOT COOKED. The fish and chips were clearly fried in VERY OLD OIL. The cost for an uncooked burger and a basket of rotten fish and chips was 25 dollars. Outrageous. They were so rude. We came for lunch. My mom had a Ruben with a side salad, I had the BLT with the potato salad. The sandwiches where great. The salads lacked a lot to be desired. The side salad was limp and brown. An my potato salad was flavorless unless you count the overwhelming onion. My problem was with the service. Our table was dirty, sticky and greasy. She brought out coffee and cream, but forgot the spoon. After asking several times. I finally went up and got one myself. Then comes the waitress just randomly setting the plates down. Kinda a free for all set yourself up. Then after sitting 20 minutes with no refill after again asking twice. I again had to get my own. It seemed as though she had a lot of busy work that needed to get done, and I was interfering. Oh and I like cool room temp, but wow it's freezing in here. My experience at the Pink House was mediocre at best. A co worker took me there for lunch for a Garden Borger. Service was slow,the potato salad had way too much garlic in it...I love garlic but this was way overboard. Everything was just a litle bit off...I ,too, did not enjoy the enormous TV blasting Faux News (Fox) I like supporting small,local businesses,but the chances of going back are slim. I really wanted to like this place. The menu looked appealing for what I was in the mood for - meat with meat on top of meat with a side of meat. I ordered one of the large sandwiches and it was reasonably large as advertised... but unfortunately lacking in flavor; just a lot of meat with coleslaw piled on some toast. Side potato salad was similarly meh. Not worth the $10+. They do have a good selection of ice cream and I grabbed one to go to give my tastebuds something to get excited about. The food is AWESOME! The burgers are fabulous, on a soft bun with crisp lettuce. The fries are handcut potatoes and soooo yummy. So why did I give it 3 stars? THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!! The WORST service I have ever had. Tonight they forgot one of our parties tater tots and when she brought the check we brought it to her attention. She wanted to "send them home in a box since we were going to pay for them". Who wants cold tater tots? She never once refilled our drinks until we asked and the whole restaurant is FREEZING cold. I used to love this place good burgers but one day took visitors there for dinner and they all got beef and pork ribs they where horrible tasted like they've been frozen for months and gamee. The sandwiches and food we got was great. It was a cute little place we found on yelp and a local said was good. Too bad we didn't get very good greeting or hospitality from the staff. There were about four staff members an not one looked up to say hi or greet us. We had to ask if we were supposed to seat ourselves and one said I think theirs a clean table. We went in say down at a table and waited about 5 min then I walked back up asking if we could get some menus. Apparently we sat at a table where there were no menus Nd were supposed to sit at one with them. I mentioned when we first arrived we had never been here and were from out of state and didn't know if we were to seat ourselves. Once we got menus service was a little better but it really appeared the staff catered to locals or the server was mainly hanging out at one table in the corner. I had to ask for the bill and to oh container. Overall for as slow as they were there really was no reason a proper greeting and some hospitality couldn't have been included but if you want a good sandwich and don't care about service it's a good place to visit. read more

The menu is huge and meandering (not a good thing - too much variety = not enough focus on craft). The service is notoriously horrible and the food has consistently gotten worse over the last seven years. It's been over a year since I've been and my last visit was probably just that. My last visit. It's too bad because when I first ate here I was certain I had found a go to trashy (in a good way) dinner joint. Not so much. Derp. I had heard this place was good from friends but I was pretty reluctant to try it because it looked like a dive. But I decided to give it a shot and I am glad that I did! They have amazing homemade hamburgers, home made fries and yummy fry sauce! You can customize the size of your burger, customize your toppings, and cheese. They have a large variety of toppings and cheese. I had a 1/4 pound burger which was plenty for me, and my boyfriend ordered a 3/4 pound burger. They have quite few types of fries to choose from, and delicious homemade shakes! The prices aren't bad, and you should check out the bathroom it's pretty cool. read more

I was hesitant to go there based on the reviews on here, but decided to give it a go anyways. The server there was VERY attentive and approachable. I ordered a Peppy Deluxe and was very pleased by their quality of meat as well as the freshly cut curly fries. My wife had their ribs and they seemed a little on the older side. My husband and I took our daughter for lunch. Two of us ordered cod and it was okay. However, the fries were awful. The other lunch was a chili burger which was good except for the bun which was rock hard. The service was terrible. We weren't asked about drinks until we ordered, got our food (after a long wait) before we got forks. I asked about types of milkshakes and was told to go look at the ice cream. I've been going to the pink house since I was little and I always remembering it being great till last week. I went in a little after lunch and first thing I wanted to do was use the restroom, a common thing at 9 months pregnant. When I asked for the restroom key the waitress threw it at me and sighed really loud. I came back and was told to sit myself so as I looked around all the tables were either taken or dirty so I cleaned a table off so I could sit down. I waited 20 mins for service and never got a server so I finally left. Very disappointed! read more

This is a distinctive restaurant in a small Oregon town. They have great breads & rolls, an extensive menu, great burgers and other sandwich items and fine service. My only reservation was the BBQ pork which, for my taste, lacked a smoked taste and required more of a fine shredding to really be considered "shredded". However, I would certainly eat there again. There is too much to like about this casual eating restaurant to let this small reservation keep me away from it. A fun place. By the way, the coffee is also good! read more

I would actually give The Pink House 2 and 1/2 stars. The waitress was really nice and attentive. I would give her 5 stars. I had a hamburger that had so much mayonnaise on it that it was all over my face, hands and it dripped all over my pants. I used about 6-8 napkins to get the mayo off my face, hands and pants. I think I might have enjoyed the burger if it did not have soooooo much mayo. I would give it another try and maybe ask for no mayo or perhaps try another meal. read more

The Pink House has been in Cottage Grove for as long as I've lived here about 15 years. The first time we tried it the food was not good at all. It was not served hot. The pork was dried out and not too good. Five years later we decided to try it again. My daughters chicken nuggets were deep fried way too long. They were blackened and looked like rocks. Maybe we will try it again in another 5 years. The worst food in Cottage Grove is my opinion. read more
