The food was just okay. My husband said his pizza was good. I got the Antipasto plate and it was pretty sad. It was rolled up meats, slices on sandwich cheese, and some olives and banana peppers. It was not worth the $16 I paid. The service was what would make us not come back. I believe our servers name was Emmie and she was all over the place. Three of us shared a 12" pizza--Hot Pig and Pineapple; one had a Rueben (she wanted soup, but there was none available). Service was not good. My son in law had a whole conversation with server about ordering chicken Alfredo and to leave off chicken and onions. Basically pasta and Alfredo sauce is all he wanted. He brought him a bowl of it with onions and bacon all over it. He had to pick them all off since he didn't have time to wait for them to remake it. We all had tea and it had no ice. The Pitch was buzzing with activity when I arrived to grab a table. I got seated shortly and ordered a grapefruit cider. These two events were the only things to go right the entire evening. We ordered the curry poutine, which was delicious, but arrived without the goat cheese. The server went and got some cheese and brought it to the table. We placed our orders...and then we waited for over an hour with no food at the table. The server didn't stop at our table once that entire time. No refills of water glasses, no "sorry, we're backed up" courtesy, and my friend who had ordered a Dr. Pepper still hadn't received it. I went to speak to someone about the situation and was told that the kitchen was backed up. I advised that a beverage ordered an hour ago still hadn't come to the table and that I hoped the food would be hot when it arrived. I also asked for our bill to reflect the service received for the night. Within 5 minutes, the food arrived. I had ordered the Executive Grilled Cheese (3 types of cheese, pork shoulder, bacon, and a fried egg). The cheese wasn't melted, the egg was very well done, and you could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The cider and the poutine were great. The rest of the experience was painfully broken. To their credit, we did get a 25 % discount on the bill. I, unfortunately, wouldn't recommend. read more

My sister in law and I stopped here on our road trip from Texas to Michigan. We ordered a bunch of different items- fried pickles, spinach artichoke dip, the Ruben, Mac and cheese, two pizzas- the scrum add goat cheese and the popeye. HOLY MOLY. Everything was AMAZING. Fried pickles were cut long wise like fries and had garlic aioli. The spinach artichoke dip is thick and creamy with fresh parm shaved on top it was to die for I could have eaten it with a spoon. The Rueben had thick sliced corned beef that was juicy and the kraut was bomb. Mac and cheese was Smokey with Gouda cheese. The pizzas were THE BEST. The decor was nice, and for it being a 'sports bar' it was pretty quiet. Unfortunately the food just didn't do it for the wife and I. Our friends really liked the fried cauliflower and their food, but The Hot Pitch burger just didn't do it for me. It was a bit dry, and the bbq sauce was too tangy and overwhelmed the the taste of the burger. She said her Mac and Cheese was bland. The wife also had a cup of their ham and bean soup which she said tasted strange and the beans weren't cooked through. We all tried it and none of us really cared for it. Most of the party thought it had a strange flavor, like some weird seasoning had been added to it but I actually thought it tasted off, like the ham had turned. We mentioned it to the waitress when we gave her back the fairly full bowl as she asked us at the time if we liked it. I don't know if she talked to the chef or not to bring our concerns to his attention but looking at the previous health scores on this place I'm inclined to go with my first instincts and say it was probably bad. The waitress also knocked a ramekin of bbq sauce over in my direction, which required additional clean up. Overall I just wasn't how I wanted my last meal n town with friends to go. My final report card is that the restaurant atmosphere was acceptable, but I have to give it another go to see if they were just having a bad night and if the food can be improved upon. Recently tried the smoked wings and pizza here before a game. The mango habanero sauce was very good, and there was plenty of meat on the bone. My only wish was they kept from dropping them in the fryer at all. The pizza had good flavor for a supreme, with two meats and four veggies. Service was very good as my glass was never empty. A true hidden gem in Springfield! (It's got construction outside, and there's no sign on the front right now!) Both the food and the service were excellent, we will definitely be back! Food was amazing. We had the Brussels Sprouts appetizer first- roasted, served over baby potatoes, drizzled with balsamic and goat cheese. Try them with the Founders Porter. So good, we had to pace ourselves for the pizza to come. We tried the Mediterranean- chicken, pesto, artichoke, olives, sundried tomatoes- and one of the Hawaiian ones- Canadian bacon, pork, pineapple, hot peppers. The crust was thin and crispy, but really flavorful. The topings were abundant, and the crust held up to them. At the risk of sounding tawdry, you haven't lived until you've sampled the 22 inches of unspeakable goodness that is The Pitch's large supreme pizza. It is an absolute masterpiece of flavor, decorated liberally with Italian sausage and giant pepperonis, fresh cheese and vegetables that somehow manage to maintain a fresh, juicy texture despite their time in the oven (my guess is they cook them separately and add them to the pie before it's served). That it comes served on a crispy, thin crust only adds to my enduring fondness. Although I ordered this circular-shaped nectar of the gods to go, I did get an opportunity to scope out the interior of the restaurant itself when I picked it up, and I'll definitely be returning to experience that, as well. They have a local farm to table themed menu, promoting locally sourced ingredients. Friendly staff, super clean place, plenty of space. The food seemed priced correctly, beer and wine, on the high side if you are just there to casually drink with friends. Even with happy hour pricing it just brings the prices down to what they should be. I'm mixed on the food a bit, talked to some people I know who had also eaten here as well. We all kind of had the same opinion, it was "ok". As I said in the beginning they are new so will give them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes with a new place things just need to be tweaked a bit. Think that is the case here because the concept of locally sourced fresh ingredients is a solid one. Was highly disappointed in this place. Party of 7 decided to stop in here because of the 4 1/2 star rating, but it is definitely overrated. The only real plus to the whole meal was the pickle fries and cheese curds. Both were excellent, but for the price, I would have hoped for twice as many cheese curds than the 7 small ones served to us. We also had the bruschetta, which I felt was a bit soggy with too much balsamic drizzled. Upon entry, I was overtaken by an unpleasant smell, and I wasn't able to decisively decided if it was because they allowed smoking in the restaurant (not sure if they do or not) or it was something in the carpet or coming from the kitchen. I had the Pitch Pasta, which was recommended by the waitress and it was Meh. The sausage inside the pasta had an overwhelming oregano flavor, which took away from the dish as a whole. The marinara was alright, but I couldn't distinguish an actual flavor for it froķm the oregano. The pasta was cooked well, it but overall, I would pass on this dish. The Reuben wouldn't make it into a Top 10 list, the "cornbeef" on this particular sandwich was not good. Complaints about the pizza being overly salty and lacking in general was the consensus. Mixed reviews on the burger and salad. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. She kept our drinks full and brought out our food in a timely manner and continually checked in on us.
