We have frequented this pizza press since it opened and have always had a great experience. Tonight's trip was enough for me to never come back. They had to make me 3 different pizzas because each time they started they were out of something... this included ricotta, chicken and tomatoes. Why not tell people this before you start making pizzas? The girls making pizzas were horribly rude and unapologetic about the situation. I asked to speak to the manager, but there was just a shift lead. She continuously apologized for the lack of toppings as I stated over and over that the problem was the bratty employees working the pizza station. She finally understood and ended up giving us a card for a free pizza but I will never be back. I don't know what's gone downhill here but it's sad. Used to be a really good spot. The only redeeming factor was the cashier that was very polite and the shift lead that was apologetic once she realized how offensive her other employees had been. Like I said, I will never be back. Don't use the online ordering system. They make it when you get to the store so that's kinda pointless. the pizza itself is ok. nothing really special and nothing to make it stand out against all the other pizza places like pieology, spin, blaze, etc. i don't think they have as many topping choices as pieology or even pizza rev. and i think one of the biggest reasons why it takes longer to get your order is the conveyor style oven. other places use brick ovens which cook pizzas in less than a minute. this setup takes about 3? something like that. anyways, the craft beer selection is a plus. read more

Had to come check out the hype. I've had all of the other Create Your Own places and this is the best one... at least, I thought it was. My wife was underwhelmed by all of the Create Your Own pizzas and she just doesn't like any of them. She prefers the gourmet freshness that all of these places lack. I liked the pizza, although, I agree that the toppings aren't super good and taste processed. So, even though they use a tortilla press for their pizza press, the tortilla thin pizza crust isn't thin enough to keep my wife feeling bloated after eating a couple slices. For a conveyor belt oven, it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I made sure to pile on a lot of toppings to see how the oven handled it. It did a decent job that I did not expect at all. So, I was impressed and shocked. I liked the fact that they had 6 cheeses to choose from (Gouda, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Feta, Blue Cheese and fresh mozzarella). I did think that some of the toppings were underwhelming and were disappointing, but for the Create Your Own One Size Pizza Wars, it was enough to be king. They had a very impressive craft beer setup. If I were a beer drinker, I probably would've been more impressed. I did ask and they said each person can have up to 3 free samples. That's pretty generous considering I know how much each keg costs and they are not cheap! My wife wanted to give this 2 stars but I wanted to give it a 4 stars. It didn't feel right to give them a 3 star rating as the king of all of these Create Your Own 10 Inch Pizza popping up in the last couple years - so I just gave it 4 stars, anyways. I felt that, this place can be improved if their toppings weren't marinated in something because all of those flavors work against each other. Stumbled upon this place by accident and I am SO GLAD that I did. This place is so incredibly yum and the atmosphere is great! The prices are amazing... $8 for whatever you want on your pizza! The employees always have a great attitude, big smile, and are so welcoming. If you want a cheesy pizza with tons of toppings, make sure that Armando is making your pizza! He was my favorite so far. He packs on the toppings without question and has a smile on his face the entire time he's doing it! The staff seems very inexperienced and not trained properly. There were 5 people in front of me and it took 45 minutes to get my pizza. They obviously haven't thought much about speeding up the process but with Blaze down the street, they might want to! Also, the build your own salad idea is a great one. I love the pizza press! The dough is great and I love the options for ingredients. Don't expect to zip through the line, as it is usually crowded and good pizza does take time to make. I did have an issue the first time I went at the end of the line when the pizzas came out. There did not seem to be a system for recognizing to go orders when they come out of the oven. An order came out that had all the same ingredients I had put on my pizza but a different sauce (which I could not tell from looking at it). When it came out of the oven both the employee and I assumed it was mine. It was not until after my friend took it to our table and the next pizza came out (which was mine) that I realized the mistake. The employee was visibly annoyed and put the blame on me which is frustrating because there is no way I could have known it was a to go order. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they had just opened this location and were probably still training staff. That's when she said there was no more spicy sauce, left off one cheese i clearly asked for, tried to throw in my pizza without putting anything but pepperoni on it, and did not put on one topping I most clearly asked for. Management really needs to find a better method of making it go faster. We waited approximately 35 minutes after we got to the entrance. The standout is definitely the BEER!! The Pizza Press has a great space in Old Towne Orange, including an open-air front patio. The craft beer selection is also choice; if they don't have it on tap, they also have bottles. The staff is also friendly. The pizza is terrific: the crust is thin and just right, and you can customize your pie anyway you choose. So why only 2 stars? It's simple once you go visit: their process is in inefficient shambles. Let me explain: The first time I went I waited over 45 minutes in line to order and receive my pizza - no exaggerating. Do not go here if you don't have unlimited free time. This is an "avoid" at lunch rush on the plaza. God forbid you try and take your kids. Good luck with this disaster. The second time I went I waited 20 minutes in line (just to order my pizza) and there were only 2 people ahead of me. And then I waited another 15 minutes for the second person to ring me up....while my pizza was already done. My pizza was handed to me luke warm which is crazy because my pizza beat me through its automated oven before I could even get up to pay for it. It sat for 10 minutes in the open air cooling down while I stared at it through the glass partition. Not in a box, not with a lid. They have no intelligent way to tell which pizza belongs to its customer. None. Each time I've been there I've seen them hand over the wrong pizza to someone in line. Do not pay for your pizza without lifting your lid (should you're lucky enough to get a box)....chances are you're saving yourself a lot of grief by checking, beacuse they are not. Even though their pizza is good, the headache and frustration of going into their restaurant isn't worth the grief. I predict they have a limited time to fix these problems before the always fickle Old Towne crowd bounces to the next restaurant opening...tick tock tick tock. read more

Pizza Press is a great DIY pizza place where the bold sauces, fresh toppings, and plethora of meats and cheeses allows for endless pie creations. The employees are super nice and create pizzas in a quick and precise fashion. The add as much or as little of sauces/toppings as you want (you must specify though). The baking time is like 5-6 minutes if it's not super busy...but it does get super busy. SUPER BUSY. I like the flow of the operation but sometimes I think that if they were to use a fire'd oven like Blaze, the pizza would be better given Pizza Press's ingredients are fresher in my opinion. (Except for the overlain mozz that Blaze uses). The beer selection here is always great. They have a wide selections of general favorites, local breweries, and unique flavors for the bold drinker. They also do beer flights which is awesome. The staff is also well versed as too what the beer varietals are and usually make good suggestions. The line can get long during peak lunch/dinner hours, so plan accordingly. read more

It was my first time coming here and it honestly did not disappoint. We came in an were greeted by a nice guy who welcomed us warmly named Trevor. He made my boyfriend's pizza and talked to him the entire time while he was being helped. He was so nice and super helpful. I was helped by a sweet girl who said she was new, Nahnhi.
