Have been to this location multiple times and there's always a huge wait. Most of the time it's not a problem, but this morning I just decided to order in. The staff member who took the order did not have good customer service. They told us they charge for to go boxes which was okay, that's a part of their business. They did not tell me when my food was going to be ready so I just had to go in and wait. They gave me more to go boxes then I needed which felt a little disappointed about seeing as they charge me for each box. My food was the only order that I felt like was just not good. My family enjoyed their food. Loved it even but the brisket was definitely off this morning. I'm the future I'd definitely order something else and would dine it. I am a fan of diners so I wanted to check The Place out. It's located in the corner of a decaying strip mall on the edge of Glendale and Phoenix. Trying to keep the outside appearance of the restaurant looking nice, which it does. The inside looks almost like a cafeteria with not much decor to make it stand out with character. The food to me was greasy(which is desired for diners), but I wasn't getting the great flavors to match it. This Place may be a local favorite for many people. The service may be the reason that keeps patrons coming back. I on the other hand will continue to look for other restaurants that know how to execute on all levels. read more

We absolutely LOVE The Place. It has become our favorite weekend spot. We just recently moved here and discovered this spot recently. We now make it a weekly trip to ride our bikes over and have brunch! The food is amazing, the wait staff are incredibly friendly, just all around great service. Went today early afternoon (Memorial Day) it was busy and the wait was 45mins was not sure if I wanted to wait ,but it was a pleasant wait the staff at front was so friendly and professional, two chairs came available at the bar which was great because the staff was very accommodating, it's been a long time since I have seen people enjoy where they work.The food is so good Holly a worker recommended the pork green chili burrito which was fantastic!! Her personality was very welcoming and so helpful her service was spectacular as my friend and I watched her service others with such kindness and such focus on what she was doing , she answered everyone's questions and helped everyone that came across her path it was amazing to watch it was hectic and busy but she handled everything with such control and grace. I found out she was the manager and it all made sense that she controlled the temperature of the restaurant , Iam sure the way she trained her staff was why I got great service and I saw others have that as well. I was going to give "The Place" 5 starts because the food was delicious and the portion size huge, more than we could eat in fact, but 1 thing bothered me from the moment we walked in. None of the employees were smiling. The hostess seemed totally bored and disinterested and she never smiled, our server was efficient but never once smiled and a manager came and ask how we were doing and if the food was okay ? You guessed it he didn't smile either. Puts a bit of a damper on the experience when the employees are so unhappy. Went here for breakfast with a friend and was pleased with the experience for the most part. The service was really great as were the portion sizes. Everything was very tasty and seemed to be fresh. I'm giving only 4 stars because my eggs were not made as I ordered them. Also oddly enough they don't serve the biscuits with the gravy on them and the small cup of gravy was not even close to being enough to cover the massive biscuit. I am writing this review for lunch: The other day for work a few of us went to The Place for lunch. I had the Avocado burger and fries. I can't say anything about this burger was really good or bad. It was just an average burger with average fries. My coworkers ordered another burger that looked average and a club sandwich that looked like any other club sandwich you get at a diner. We have eaten at this establishment for years and have always loved it, but things have been going down hill. I never post or complain but I do want to know what has happened. When we sat we were given utensils only to find old dried food on our spoon, one small piece I can ignore but this was disgusting. With our drinks, on my wifes cup she had, yes dried food! The food has changed like most things, but when you ask for two eggs and what is brought is 2 yolks with little egg white cause it has been cut off with a knife....Hash was burnt, and toast was not sourdough. These are small but seem to show a change in how the place is being run. One last thing, while trying to eat, please keep waiting groups out of dining area standi g around. The two groups I saw were just in the damn way of guests and staff, standing next to diners eating, and staring at people while they ate while staff let them just congregate rudely. BUT, in the rare occasion that I do want some breakfast, this is my go to spot. Their Arizona omelette is the best and the I can't even begin to explain on great the sides are. Their hash browns are crispy but soft at the same time and no I don't mean soggy. Their biscuits and grave can be a meal on their, I usually save those for leftover for lunch or dinner, not as good when they are fresh but still tasty. I recently found out that you can get your food to go to which is nice. They have a great place to sit, and wait is never that long unless you go right smack dab in the middle of Sunday brunch then we'll you might as well go somewhere else. We love this place..the food is great, the servers are fast and friendly.....but today we weren't so happy We were seated at a "new" table that was basically a booth table added on to the end of a row of booths. This table was awkwardly LONG for two people..like we had to scream to have a conversation long.
