Great spot for brunch! Food is decently priced and delicious. Service is good and they offer indoor and outdoor seating with great views of Shem creek!

Came here on a very rainy Saturday with my husband before dinner. It was pretty slow , so we got sat right away. The restaurant inside is really nice, we got sat by the creek view, so we got to see all the action. Our server came pretty fast as well to take our order. I ordered the cesear salad with fried chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. The cesear salad was good, dressing was creamy..I just wish they added more of it. Chicken was fried nicely and juicy. The sweet potato fries were crisp and not soggy which is always a plus. My one complaint about the service is that our table didn't get bread, every other table around us got bread. I didn't realize until we were almost done with our meal though. My husband got shrimp and fries, it was kind of pricey for a lunch and just okay. Nothing super amazing. It was nice to sit inside and get a view with it raining though. I will also say the cole slaw was really good...I know that's random. Not sure if we would come back, we may if we are bored with the other restaurants.

Overlooking the bustling water, this Shem Creek classic offers consistently good food and service at a relatively good value. We have dined there many times. We brought some visitors from out of town that enjoyed the experience and food. There is a good variety on the menu. We were promptly seated for our reservation by a kind host. Our server greeted us and provided drinks in a timely manner. We had a variety of appetizers. For dinner the shrimp & grits is excellent (benchmark against all of the local restaurants). The crab cake dinner is tasty with plentiful crab. The Shrimp scampi was a healthy portion and a solid choice. My mother enjoyed the fried shrimp dinner that was crispy with sweet potato fries. The server was hard working and friendly, but stretched between at least 3 large parties. While the interior may be somewhat dated, the experience on the water and consistently very good food makes this an excellent option. It is a solid -4- that is a good value and consistent. There are lots of options around Shem Creek - Water's Edge provides a predictable, good experience.

Great meal today! Our BnB host recommended this place, and we're so glad she did. Our server Amy gave us solid guidance on the menu, and we tried the Ahi Tuna salad (she was right about the salad dressing, yum), and Cubano (served with mojo sauce on the side like a French Dip, and they don't skimp on the pickles). Starters were oysters (we got the brinier option, from Canada, and they were fine. But I'm picky about my oysters) and Bang Bang Shrimp (husband says they are the best he's ever had. Very smart wine list (Merry Edwards, Paul Hobbs) that is fairly priced. And I know this seems like minutiae but I really liked their iced tea. We haven't seen them yet, but Amy says the dolphins come up the creek and hang out right outside the restaurant.

Such a good experience! The appetizers were delicious, our waitress was attentive, and the food came-- for the most part-- in a timely manner. Water's Edge has a great atmosphere with even better views. Would 100% return.

Delicious luncheon on Shem Creek at Water's Edge Restaurant in Mt Pleasant SC with my beau, Marc Cardinal. I give our experience 5s for food, service, and ambiance!

Our server was great. We went for dinner. The views were amazing as dolphins kept going up and down. Great local beer selection. As appetizer, we had the boom boom shrimp. Not very spicy but delicious. For entree we had the red snapper special. Delicious!!!

What a great place this is and they have great seating options. We went on a Friday evening after making reservations earlier in the day. The hostesses were very professional, even though being approached from all sides they remained calm and gracious. Our food was amazing, we weren't rush at all and enjoyed our evening thoroughly. Even ordered some desserts.

They also didn't have their HH menu updated online so there were things we wanted but couldn't get because it was a different menu. We ended up getting a couple dozen oysters, smoked fish dip and crispy tuna rice. Oysters were fresh and nicely chilled, tuna rice was well seasoned and the fish dip was ok, didn't have any smoky flavor or element to it and lacked in flavor. We ended up moving back down with our friends who had dogs so they ordered from the regular menu. The server was very accommodating and friendly. My friend got the burnt ends Mac n cheese and that was delicious! The place itself was huge and I could see it being a great spot for private events. Overall we had a good time.

Everyone at our table loved their meals -- burgers, fries, and sandwiches all around with rave reviews. Instead of cake, our group brought blueberry pies and vanilla ice cream, and the staff graciously took everything to the kitchen, sliced and plated the pie, added generous scoops of ice cream, and even placed birthday candles on each slice. Such a thoughtful touch that made the celebration extra special. The atmosphere along the water made it even better. Watching kayaks, paddle boards, and boats pass along Shem Creek while enjoying lunch was the perfect backdrop for a celebration. This has definitely become a new favorite spot for our group! Given no chance to explain that I did not order or receive any of the extra drinks on my tab, and no chance to reason with anyone who had the decency to listen. The story is as follows: I had accidentally left my credit card upstairs with the bartender after I opened a tab, and then moved downstairs for a table reservation. After dinner, I realized this had happened and asked the bouncer if I could go back upstairs to collect my card and close my tab (moving past a line to do so). I waited about 3 minutes to speak with the bartender upstairs, which is not an unreasonable amount of time, and as I was closing I was tapped on the shoulder by a bouncer and told I was "taking too long", and that I "had to go". Mind you I was still in good standing prior to this interaction. I was then escorted downstairs to where my family was sitting, and still nobody had the thought that maybe I was telling the truth and actually did have a table downstairs, even as it was right in front of them... Not only this, but Reds also does not have a working customer support email. It was such disturbing treatment of a paying and respectful customer. Both overcharging and removing my group without any explanation. Safe to say I won't be returning to this poorly run establishment.

I was a little worried when the website said call ahead seating was on hold thinking they would be slammed, but forged onward!' It was Sunday afternoon. I have read about nightmare parking but did not experience that at all. Zoomed right in. Yes, it was eleven bucks. I don't mind paying and refuse to get myself worked up over it. Ask for an outside table and no sooner did we sit down, the dolphins showed up!!! I consider myself an expert on dolphin spotting and had to show the table of 5 college age young ladies where they were located. They loved them as well. Who knew they would be so active in the middle of a busy waterway? As a former boat owner, I love watching those huge honkin' boats parallel park in between the baby ones. I do not have that skill , but it's entertaining to watch. Tyler was our server and was nice and attentive. Drinks were cold and quite good. I ordered a house Chardonnay and it was Cambria. Not crazy expensive either! Had shrimp tacos and steamed shrimp. So many steamed ones that I had a full meal the next day. I look forward to trying many more dishes. What I enjoyed the most was being part of a fun atmosphere in a fun place. Not a sad person in the place. That's always my attitude near any body of water. It's right on Shem Creek so almost all the fish is caught locally. We started with boiled peanuts - strangely addictive - and fried green tomatoes. I ordered fried scallops which came with red rice, a hush puppy (both meh), delicious cole slaw and good/salty hominy. These were some of the best scallops I've ever had. I sampled my nephew's fried grouper (delicious) and my husband's fried oysters. Also good. They offer beer and wine and also dessert (but we passed on that). Yes, this place is known for being a dive, but we had a monsoon outside and not only was the ceiling leaking, but there was a huge puddle on the floor. Same layout, same "falling down" looking building on the outside, same rustic charm inside, and our waitress was once again terrific. Still, I have to admit it felt a little less magical than before. Mrs. K. ordered the clam chowder. She told me afterward it was still flavorful, but only warm. I wish she had mentioned it at the time, though we are not the type to fuss. I went with the shrimp and scallops combo. The scallops were impressively large and cooked just right. The shrimp were smaller, but still tasty. The plate came with their seasoned rice, cole slaw, a hush puppy, and a fried hominy square that was surprisingly good. The hush puppy had a serious crunch to it, which some folks love. And yes, it was all still served on a paper plate. [Review 1410 of 2025 - 1353 in South Carolina - 24961 overall]
