We stopped here for lunch on the way home from the beach. What a lovely place to sit outside next to the water and have delicious and fresh seafood. I really loved the outdoor seating area and would come back the next time. I'm in Charleston. I had a plate with the fried seafood and ended up leaving feeling stuffed to the brim. Stopped in for a late lunch after a long walk. Man, so glad we did. Cute place on the water. Seated indoors (baby, it's cold outside) with a nice view. We came for dinner on Wednesday and had a waitress named Pierson. She was absolutely fantastic and had a great personality. Was very attentive t our needs and her recommendation on the shrimp and grits was spot on. The meal was great and so was the atmosphere. Came here on a very rainy Saturday with my husband before dinner. It was pretty slow , so we got sat right away. The restaurant inside is really nice, we got sat by the creek view, so we got to see all the action. Our server came pretty fast as well to take our order. I ordered the cesear salad with fried chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. The cesear salad was good, dressing was creamy..I just wish they added more of it. Chicken was fried nicely and juicy. The sweet potato fries were crisp and not soggy which is always a plus. My one complaint about the service is that our table didn't get bread, every other table around us got bread. I didn't realize until we were almost done with our meal though. My husband got shrimp and fries, it was kind of pricey for a lunch and just okay. Nothing super amazing. It was nice to sit inside and get a view with it raining though. I will also say the cole slaw was really good...I know that's random. Not sure if we would come back, we may if we are bored with the other restaurants. read more

Overlooking the bustling water, this Shem Creek classic offers consistently good food and service at a relatively good value. We have dined there many times. We brought some visitors from out of town that enjoyed the experience and food. There is a good variety on the menu. We were promptly seated for our reservation by a kind host. Our server greeted us and provided drinks in a timely manner. We had a variety of appetizers. For dinner the shrimp & grits is excellent (benchmark against all of the local restaurants). The crab cake dinner is tasty with plentiful crab. The Shrimp scampi was a healthy portion and a solid choice. My mother enjoyed the fried shrimp dinner that was crispy with sweet potato fries. The server was hard working and friendly, but stretched between at least 3 large parties. While the interior may be somewhat dated, the experience on the water and consistently very good food makes this an excellent option. It is a solid -4- that is a good value and consistent. Great meal today! Our BnB host recommended this place, and we're so glad she did. Our server Amy gave us solid guidance on the menu, and we tried the Ahi Tuna salad (she was right about the salad dressing, yum), and Cubano (served with mojo sauce on the side like a French Dip, and they don't skimp on the pickles). Starters were oysters (we got the brinier option, from Canada, and they were fine. But I'm picky about my oysters) and Bang Bang Shrimp (husband says they are the best he's ever had. Very smart wine list (Merry Edwards, Paul Hobbs) that is fairly priced. And I know this seems like minutiae but I really liked their iced tea. We haven't seen them yet, but Amy says the dolphins come up the creek and hang out right outside the restaurant. read more

After strolling along Shem Creek Boardwalk, we stopped by Water's Edge for some drinks over the water. There's an outdoor bar overlooking the water, which was nice but not the best view in town. We were here during happy hour, so well drinks were only $3.95. It sounds like a steal, but damn you forget how bad well drinks can be. If you're in college and looking to save some money on alcohol, this is great. Otherwise, I'd rather pay more for good alcohol. It's a decent spot, but felt the vibes seemed to be better down at Muddy's. read more

We were glad we had made reservations here for dinner during the busy Cooper River Bridge Run weekend. Our party of six was seated immediately. We had all perused the online menu already and knew what drinks we wanted. Unfortunately they did not have the beers we had seen online nor a cocktail that my friend was excited about trying. I would suggest they keep their online menu updated or don't post drinks on it at all. I ordered the barbecue salmon which was tasty but I ordered it medium and it was well done. Accompaniments of rice and asparagus were good. Husband ordered the seafood pasta. He said it had a good flavor but was skimpy on the seafood. Service was good overall but when we got our checks (3 for table of 6), all our drinks were mixed up. You did not have to pay for parking in the lot. Possibly the worst fish sandwitch I have ever had the misfortune to put in my face. The bun was VERY stale and the fish incredibly dry. Ordered the signature crab soup and it showed up half way through the meal. I normally don't leave negative reviews , but in this case I feel compelled to do so. We went to the bar (we just wanted a quick cocktail and snack), no draft beer. Wine selection was fine. Ordered steak bites and boom boom shrimp. Nothing great there. Presentation was in a steel bowl. Steak was over cooked. Shrimp... ehhh. Listened to staff and management argue. Heard there aren't any bartenders, bar backs tonight. My mom used to take me here when I was a kid, and went back for the nostalgia. It's not bad. We were seated with a nice view of the creek and marsh. 70s rock thrummed in the background. Had a nice salad and the crab soup, which had a decidedly southwest kick of chipotle and corn. Shrimp and grits were a little spicy and rich, but a solid Cajun interpretation. Service was reasonable. We had a great experience and a delicious meal at Water's Edge Restaurant on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. The food was fresh and flavorful, the service was friendly and attentive, and the waterfront setting made the lunch extra special. The fish and chips were excellent with a wonderful beer batter over fresh fish! I switched up the traditional and got the sweet potato fries which were fantastic! My husband got the shrimp scampi which was very flavorful. The waiter even mentioned though not locally caught, the shrimp is fresh caught sourced from Equator. We appreciated his candor. We shared a slice of key lime pie which may be my new favorite as I have tried many. My only "negative" was the calamari which was very chewy though in a tasty batter it definitely was pre frozen which was a shame being water front. But not enough to take away from the 5 stars overall experience. I just wouldn't order it again. A wonderful spot to relax and enjoy both great dining and beautiful views! They have a Cabana Bar on the dock level. It was fun to watch the boats come and go. It's a high activity location with several water front restaurants side by side. I would have given this place a one star if it wasn't for our sweet server and the views of Shem Creek. From the minute we walked in, I regretted not choosing another restaurant. The hostess was extremely rude and not accommodating at all. We ordered the "special" of conch fritters which was basically all breading with hardly any conch meat. The tuna appetizer had an overly fishy taste, and my paella entree was bland and disappointing, especially for the price. Unless you're just having drinks at the outside bar, save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Water's edge is a cute restaurant located in Shem creek! I went around sunset and it was beautiful! We sat at the bar and at first the bartender seemed a bit annoyed (it was an hour until close) but he warmed up and gave us awesome service. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The bartender said it was spicy but I'm sure that's just for the tourists! It was right up my alley. The grits could have been a bit creamier but that's just for my taste buds. 3 stars for the food, 4 for the service, and 5 for the location. read more

I was excited to try this restaurant because the menu looked good! I dined here on Monday (9/30/24) my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary ! We asked to sit on the patio because the weather was nice and we wanted to enjoy the view. Our server was Chase and he greeted us, a while after we sat down. We ordered a drinks and the Calamari as an appetizer and we also gave our entree order. The Calamari was Delicious and it came with a Curry dipping sauce ! 10/10 but when we got our appetizer our server didn't come back to check on us. Our Sodas were empty as well as our waters and we didn't see him for about 20 minutes when he brought out our entrees. My wife decided to try the whole flounder and I ordered the Cajun pasta. The flounder was perfectly seasoned and fried crispy, the Cajun Pasta was also very pleasing, shrimp were cooked perfectly and I also got mushrooms added for more flavor. The food was 10/10 but the service was not. I still dream about that delicious Calamari everyday. read more

We waited over 45 minutes for the food (for a table of four), which was lukewarm when it was delivered to the table. We just happened to google restaurants in Mt Pleasant SC and the menu looked good so we tried it! Boy, are we glad we did! We had some wonderful seats on the porch overlooking Shem Creek. We started with the chilled crab dip with Captans Wafers for the table. It was very good and enjoyed by all. The whole baby flounder was the best I've ever had.... thick, crispy and beautifully scored, and the collard greens were the most perfectly seasoned I've ever had in any restaurant! I got the mango sauce on the side of my fish because I prefer tartar sauce. We finished up with the most delicious thick and rich key lime pie and Creme Brûlée with fresh berries. Dined here with my family on a Saturday afternoon. Parking is easily accessible and validated for customers. The restaurant is located on the water and has a super scenic view. Our server Victoria was outstanding, often doing things before we could ask. We had an amazing brunch at Waters Edge on Shem Creek today! From the moment we were seated, the experience was great. Our server, Amy, was absolutely incredible as she was friendly, personable, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. We are locals and we rarely go Shem Creek during the season but it was very relaxing and they didn't rush us. We started with the beignets, which were warm, fluffy, and the perfect start to brunch. The Bloody Mary bar was outstanding with lots of garnishes (loved the pickled okra) and a great way to kick off the meal. For entrées, we tried the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict and the Denver Omelette, and both were absolutely delicious. Everything came out hot, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Of course, the view of Shem Creek is unbeatable. Sitting by the water created the perfect relaxing atmosphere, and to top it off, they even validated parking. We went back to Water's Edge and had a wonderful experience again. The food, seafood platter with light battered and fried oysters, shrimp, and flounder. My wife loved the whole fried flounder. The only miss was the paella , my guest did not enjoy it, the rice was undercooked and the seafood was bland. Amanda gave us attentive without being obtrusive service. We had a great window table so we could see all the action on Shem Creek. The young folks on the rooftop balcony at Reds, boats and dolphins swimming by.
