One of my favorite places on Folly Beach. With ocean views and a nice breeze, the rooftop is where it's at! My husband and I were able to snag seats at the bar on the rooftop on a Sunday afternoon while live music was playing. We ordered hushpuppies, spicy tuna rolls and the peel & eat shrimp. All were great but the shrimp was my favorite! They were served warm, easy to peel and were well-seasoned with excellent flavor. We also had frozen slushie daiquiris that were perfect on a hot summer day. I would definitely recommend checking this place out! :) read more

I really hate leaving reviews like this, especially because the food here is actually GOOD. In fact, I liked it enough on my first visit that I specifically wanted to bring my mom back before we left Charleston. We even canceled dinner plans with our friends who live here because I had been telling my mom about this rooftop, the view, and how much I wanted her to try the sushi I had loved. Unfortunately, after two visits, the service completely overshadowed the food. On my first visit, I complimented the bartender on how amazing it must be to bartend with that beach view--I'm a bartender myself and joked that I work in a dungeon with no windows. Instead, I spent the next 10-15 minutes listening to him complain about his job, the construction, liquor sales, etc., while other guests were visibly waiting to order drinks. At one point he was showing us a bottle of Jim Beam speaking about who knows what and continuing the conversation while people who had been given menus several minutes earlier were still trying to get his attention. It was strange, but the food was great, so I brushed it off. I also had to inform him how to make a simple well known shot. Tonight, my mom and I tried to come back. We just missed getting a table by one party, so rather than going somewhere else for dinner, we literally spent HOURS killing time at other places for drinks and an appetizer because we specifically wanted to return here. When we finally came back, we immediately felt rushed. The bartender, Jess, was talking over us to another employee asking what time they closed while we were trying to order. We hurried and ordered the crispy shrimp tacos without even processing that we had ordered tacos--we actually told the server bringing them out that they weren't ours before realizing they were. They were unbearably spicy. And I LOVE spicy food. My mom does too, but she also has a hernia, so after trying a couple of bites she very politely told Jess, essentially, "Just a word of advice, you may want to let people know how extremely spicy these are." We did NOT ask for them to be taken off the bill. We did NOT demand anything. We weren't rude. Jess responded, "Oh, sorry, my bad. I didn't realize some people can't read." Excuse me? My mom had been nothing but kind. There was absolutely no reason to insult her intelligence over a polite piece of feedback. Jess later looked at me and said she had taken the tacos off the bill and that she was "just joking." We appreciated that she removed them, but we never asked her to--and comping an item doesn't undo speaking to someone that way. We still tipped her. That's what makes this so disappointing. I work in this industry. I understand late nights, closing duties, difficult customers and how exhausting service work can be. We weren't difficult customers. We were two people who had waited hours to come BACK and spend our money here because I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant the first time and wanted to share it with my mom. The sushi was great. The view is great. The service on both visits was the problem. We've spent our time in Charleston talking about how incredibly kind and accommodating everyone has been everywhere we've gone, which made this interaction stand out even more. There are too many wonderful restaurants and hospitality workers here to leave somewhere feeling like you're an inconvenience, or, worse, insulted, for simply being a customer. Went here on a whim because we wanted to try something new while we were in town. It was a really convenient location to Folly Beach and we were able to walk here directly from our spot right next to the ocean. We went for lunch not long after the opened and were sat and waited on immediately. The food was so fresh and delicious. I would 100% recommend the hush puppy basket. The honey butter on the side was so good. My friend got the Charleston sushi roll and said it was really fresh and filling. The only good thing about this place is the rooftop bar. It's a wonderful view. This was our first time there and it was disappointing. My boyfriend ordered a coors light and I ordered a virgin piña colada since I don't drink alcohol. On the menu, an alcoholic piña colada was $11. Since mine didn't have any alcohol, I assumed it would be around $6 or so. Nope. Still had to pay $11 for a frozen drink I couldn't even finish because the frozen ice chips in it weren't blended enough. The picture I have attached is what my drink looked like when I was leaving. Half of it was ice. I paid $11 for barely half a cup of piña colada. The blue on the cup is just to show it's cold. We visited Folly Beach today before leaving to go home. We chose to have dinner on Folly Beach and today we chose catch 23 because it had the option of Sushi as well. We browse their menu, which is set up outside, very convenient. The reason I'm giving four stars is because their process seem a little bit over the top for a portion as well as what they're serving. Me and my two grands went inside we were seated immediately. We did ask to be just inside and not up top, which I'm assuming is very nice as well if you want to watch your sunset and just have a good view. Our Server was very sweet and helpful, answered all my questions and was honest in her own opinions. I always appreciate when people give me honest feedback, especially when it comes to me spending my money. My granddaughter had. The Charleston roll and she did really enjoy that it's very similar to one she has back home. The other grand had kids tenders, which seemed to be in-house hand breaded with fries. They were very good and fresh. Not too thick on the breading I could tell they were not frozen. I had crispy shrimp tacos, which I asked for the habanero sauce on the side, thank goodness. It is a very good tasting sauce, but it does have quite the kick and I'm glad she warned me of that. You do not get a side with those three tacos.. we all had water which is typical for us. The ambience was nice. It wasn't too loud. They did have the FIFA World Cup playing on the TVs. Our food came out rather quickly. We eight and we're on our way. My boys and I dined here on Sunday evening and Anthony was our server. Highly recommend!!!! We were promptly greeted and seated upon our arrival. We were seated at table close to the entry/exit point of the kitchen. The table was fine but I felt we were in the way. Our server, Anthony, was top notch!!!!! He was so fast, friendly, always a step ahead. We didn't have to ask for refills, he already had them coming before we could even mention. Everything we could need, he already thought of! I can't stress enough how much he made our "last night of vacation dinner" such a wonderful time! Do not eat here! After seeing the owner's response to my Google review, I felt it was important to share my experience on here as well. The food quality was extremely disappointing--from the wilted iceberg lettuce, tasteless chicken, and cold, undercooked tortillas to the overall lack of flavor, the meal was genuinely inedible. We barely touched our food, left hungry, and both felt sick afterward. To make matters worse, the owner's response was dismissive and unapologetic rather than taking honest feedback as an opportunity to improve. It is unfortunate to see a business owner become defensive rather than acknowledge concerns and strive for better food quality and a better overall experience. Our group stopped by for lunch today while visiting Folly, and we couldn't have picked a better spot. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and the service was fantastic - super friendly and impressively quick. We decided to keep it light and ordered a bunch of appetizers to share after our dolphin tour. Everything came out fresh and hit the spot. I got the "Folly Lover" sushi roll, which was absolutely delicious - perfectly rolled and full of flavor. A lot of folks in our group went for the frozen drinks that came in fun souvenir cups, and everyone was raving about them. We also shared plates of fried calamari and chicken nachos. Both were packed with flavor and great for passing around the table. The atmosphere was laid-back and exactly what you'd want after a morning out on the water. Paid a pretty penny for the blackened mahi meal - took one bite and the fish was like chewing rubber. WILDLY overcooked - it almost tasted frozen and like they reheated it multiple times. The rooftop is a great spot to see the sunset with a view of the water. Well, this didn't go well. I'm not from the area, but judging by number and date of reviews, this is a new establishment. They gots some work to do! We stopped in craving some fish and chips. I'm partial to beer batter and the server assured me they were. The fish itself is cod. We also got a couple sushi rolls, hush puppies, and an order of snow crab along with some drinks. I'd say the restaurant and bar was moderately busy. We didn't have to wait for a table on a weeknight during spring break. It took a looooong time for the drinks to show up -- close to 15 minutes. They were fine. The food showed up a little after. When it did, sadness ensued. I knew when the fish & chips was put in front of me that I'd been had: this was not beer batter. Sigh. No matter, let's try it out... My first attempt to cut the fish with my fork barely worked. The batter was hard as a rock, and the fish inside was stringy. Obviously, seriously overcooked. It was completely inedible. I rarely send food back, but this was an exception. The server took it back to the kitchen where it was agreed this was a disaster. She apologized and comped it, which was nice. The hush puppies were flavorless bread balls. My friend who ordered the snow crab had to go at it like an animal since no crab crackers were provided. What a mess! We couldn't believe first of all that they forgot to bring them, and then couldn't locate a set anywhere in the restaurant. Umm... you guys are serving crab. Wtf? Fortunately, being from the northeast, she was able to shrug it off and get it in her mouth regardless. The sushi was probably the best part of the meal. Our last night at FB. Decided on Catch 23. Beautiful decor inside. We had the blackened chicken pasta, salmon, caesar salad, chicken sandwich, and appetizers. All delicious. A Super Cool waitress named Summer took excellent care of our table. Summer provided five star service throughout the meal. Our order was correct, she frequented the table often, and did it all with a beautiful smile and great attitude. First of all, you come inside this place and feel the toxic environment. Secondly, customer service is horrible! We had a bartender that gave us attitude for wanting to dine in instead of taking out. This is a pretty nice upgrade from Snapper Jacks. The bartenders were friendly and attentive, we had a great experience! They have sushi. It is somewhat elusive, as they don't give you a sushi menu or have it online. It does exist though, and I'll post a pic of it since you can't find it anywhere else. We had the Tobago Roll and it was honestly much better than I expected it to be. I'd say it was on par with any of the really good sushi rolls I've had. It's much better than it should be for sushi on Folly Beach. You can tell the chef takes pride in the rolls and it shows. The sauces were all delicious, worked well with each other and the fish. Very nice execution. My only complaint (other than parking because, well, Folly...) is the draft beer list is only visible on a monitor in the corner that cycles through several other screens. It's not visible long enough to read it so you have to try and snap a picture. It should be on its own monitor or post it to Untappd, etc. read more

First, our server was very polite and thanked us for our patience multiple times. In all honesty, he was amazing, but management set him up for failure. We arrived at Catch 23 and ordered drinks and an appetizer. As our server brought out our drinks he said that he put the appetizer in, but the kitchen needed a break, and we had to hold off on ordering. I asked if we could place our order and that they process it when they could and he said no. Ok, fine, we enjoyed the company (we are on vacation) and the game. When he came back and allowed us to place our order and as he was entering them he was telling us that those items were now out of stock. Many other things besides the burgers were sold out: crab legs, hush puppies, and one other thing I can't recall- it was a side but all things we ordered or was in an order we not available. In the meantime, a table that sat down after us and after we were told multiple times the kitchen was almost ready to take orders received an entire food order- we were both a party of 6. In all honesty, our server was so nice and attentive and he clearly followed what he was told and if it were not for him the experience would have been horrible. The food was basic fried bar food, which was disappointing when you planned on crab legs. I have never been to a restaurant who said you can't place an order right now because we can't handle it. This place will only survive on one trip tourist. We sat down at the bar and were not approached for right at ten minutes. The bartender was complaining to another bartender that she was "dealing with it and remember it was her first day". Super slow service. Food menu is all over the place. We ordered a House Salad with a grilled chicken breast. Salad showed up without the chicken. We ordered a Spicy Tuna Sushi and a Spicy Salmon. Not sure what fish they were made out of but they were the same roll. They had the roll up doors/windows open and the front door wide open. It was so windy that napkins were blowing all over the place not to mention how loud it was. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. There are way better places on Folly Beach to eat. read more

I'm not sure what's happening in South Carolina, but the overall quality of food and service across Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Johns island Kiawah Island and Now Folly Beach has been consistently disappointing. Too many restaurants seem poorly managed, with food that lacks care, consistency, and basic quality. In my opinion, a major part of the problem is the labor pool being hired and the standards being tolerated. Many businesses appear to prioritize filling positions quickly rather than hiring people who take pride in professionalism, cleanliness, customer service, and basic work ethic. The result is service that feels careless and disengaged, which directly affects food quality and the overall dining experience. When nearby areas like Myrtle Beach--long associated with drug problems and poor oversight--feed into the regional workforce, it's not surprising that those issues spill over. Instead of enforcing higher expectations, many establishments seem to accept subpar behavior, questionable presentation, and attitudes that reflect poor judgment and ideological distractions rather than a focus on doing the job well.
