Food was good. Service was HORRIBLE! Restaurant is very loud, not the people, the building amplifies sound easily. The views is probably the best selling point to this place. Waitress forgot to put in our appetizers, so we had to reorder them. Waitress got one of our dinner orders wrong but it was fixed easily. Calamari was very good, hot crab dip was okay, very little crab but a lot of cheese. Ordered she crab soup, came out cold. Once warmed up I'm sure in the microwave. it was good. Food itself was fantastic, I got the fish and chips, best fried cob I have ever had. Caldo de mariscos was good as well. The CHFH does had an amazing view of the uss yorktown and the harbor. Perfect to be at sunset it is truly beautiful. All in all food here is delicious if served correctly. Service wasn't the best but friendly staff nonetheless, and restaurant can't become very loud. We've held our annual reunion dinner at Charleston Harbor Fish House for four years now, so this visit was disappointing compared to past experiences. The food itself was good -- no complaints there -- but the customer service side struggled throughout the evening. We had reserved a private room in advance through the manager, but when we arrived, that had been changed without any prior notice, and we were placed in the main dining room near the kitchen traffic. That created a situation where staff frequently needed us to move so they could get by with food, which made the experience feel rushed and awkward for a group dinner. There was also confusion around splitting checks. We were initially told checks could be split (as has been done for our group before), but during the meal there was pressure to combine everything into one bill and divide it ourselves, which added unnecessary stress to what should have been a relaxed gathering. The interaction around billing ultimately felt punitive toward our group rather than accommodating. At one point we were told that if we chose not to return next year, that would be understood -- which was surprising to hear given that our group has been coming for several years as a tradition. For context, I've been a Yelp Elite member for 10 years and have certainly had meals with mediocre food before, but it's rare to encounter service challenges like this across an entire evening. We also learned there may have been a recent ownership change, which could explain some of the inconsistencies -- but from a customer perspective, communication and expectations are still important, especially for returning groups. It's unfortunate because our group has enjoyed making this a yearly tradition, and the location and food are still strong points. I hope management can address the service and communication gaps so future guests -- especially repeat groups -- have the experience we've had in years past. read more

We ate there as a large party of 16 people. The restaurant location is beautiful and has great views. The food was tasty but my husband ordered the scallop dinner and we were shocked the meal only contained 3 midsized scallops! That seems insane for $45. The service for our table of 16 was lacking, I guess they knew they were getting the mandatory 20% for the party over 8 and took it easy. The restaurant was empty so that's all I can guess. Spent our last meal in Charleston at the Charleston Harbor Fish House! Overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant is super cute inside but wasn't too busy. The views were unreal! So so pretty! (We got sat right next to the windows!) For an appetizer we got the hot crab dip. It was good but very salty. I felt the need to chug water afterwards. I am a rather picky eater which usually is not a problem, the waitress/waiter usually provides ways that I can adjust current options to fit my restrictions. It wasn't really the case here so I ordered my only option of the hot honey shrimp appetizer for my main course. It was good, very flavorful, I just was bummed that there wasn't any other dish that could be adjusted (I guess that's on me!) Overall, I might come back. The service and food was decent. However, the wait time was abysmal. My father ordered his burger medium and it came well done. The kitchen forgot some of our food, and our waiter was double sat with us(we were a large table) and another large table, which should not have happened. Their was accountability quite nice, ensuring the forgetten meals were still served and were taken off our order. Manager was pretty rude and argumentative when questioned why the same server was sat with 2 tables over 10 guests. Very disappointing experience will not be returning. read more

Jumped off the water taxi and tried this place. It is very bright and clean inside. We sat in the bar by the windows which had a nice view of the Yorktown. The bartender was by himself and was definitely working to cover everyone and make drinks. We had the hummus and pimento dip platter which was good as well as the spicy honey shrimp which were tasty. This is an elegant, quaint restaurant overlooking the Charleston harbor. The views were spectacular and the meal was delicious. My husband and I ordered the shareable dip platter (the pita chips had to be homemade because they were top notch) and the lobster ravioli. The ravioli were rolling in flavor and there were chunks of lobster mixed in- it was definitely worth the price. Our only complaints were related to the staff- the hostess didn't acknowledge us and instead answered the phone when we walked up for our reservation. After attending the Fort Sumter boat tour we decided on the Charleston fish house for lunch since it is right across the parking lot. If you paid for parking at patriots point for the Yorktown or Sumter tour just walk right across the road. If you drive the turn is almost right where you come into park for the tours except on the left. You'll pay $10 to grab a ticket and go through the white parking gate. Just walk. The food was amazing!!!! Literally everything we got was delicious. Adults got the fried shrimp and oysters platter and the fried grouper blt. Melt in your mouth! We didn't know there was a children's menu, but you can get a child's burger, chicken tenders, grill cheese or butter noodles. Kids serving is a good size. You can dress to impress or not (lunch specific) for people coming from the boat experiences. read more

This restaurant is located at a resort nearby (within walking distance) to Patriots Point Museum, making it a great stop for lunch during a tour day. You get great views of the Yorktown ship in a restaurant with fish house vibes. Tables are adorned with maps of the harbor. Service was good, and food came quickly. I had the burger because I wasn't feeling seafood, and it was really good. The fries reminded me of McDonalds fries (in a good way). My wife had the calamari and enjoyed them. Charleston Harbor Fish House is house in an absolutely stunning space, with an upscale coastal flair and nautical decor. The views are absolutely to die for, with an incredible perspective of the harbor and sunset!! The Bridge Bar was unfortunately closed for a private event but we were seated next to the huge windows overlooking the USS Yorktown. Our server, Danielle, was incredible and super attentive. The manager checked in on us a few times and made the experience memorable. Portions were generous and the plates were all reasonably priced. The sad part about our experience at this place today is that it could quite easily have been outstanding, but it seemed like they were trying hard to keep that from happening. The location is wonderful, with a very nice view of the harbor and the amazing Yorktown aircraft carrier museum. Easy to get to by car, easy parking ($$ but validated). And the food was very nice - quite acceptable even by Charleston's extremely high culinary standards. Unfortunately we found the general staff attitude to be fairly lackadaisical. We arrived towards the end of lunch hour though the restaurant was still serving lunch; it took a bit of time before anyone even noticed that there were customers waiting to be seated - and this set the tone for the entire experience. We asked to be seated on the patio - which is a lovely space with lovely views and the ability to catch the refreshing harbor breezes on a beautiful day like today - but we did not realize that they had their big patio doors all closed and the air conditioning set to about 55F, thereby turning a beautiful patio space into a hermetically sealed meat freezer. Multiple requests to adjust the air conditioning to a more human range of comfort - or preferably open the big doors to bring in the fresh air - were met with a variety of responses ranging from "not really my job but I'll see what I can do" to an actual sharp retort that the staff prefer it that way because they are running around working. By the time those doors were opened and the meat locker became an actual outdoor space, we were paying our check. And there was quite a bit of time for that to have transpired, because: The food took quite a long time to arrive! It seemed like we were waiting an unreasonable amount of time for the appetizers to be served (note to wait staff: when taking appetizer orders from three guests, make sure to take the order from all three and not just two of the three before walking away).. which gave us plenty of time to read and re-read the menu (it's not that large!) to decide our main course dishes, which also took quite a long time to arrive. (It's not like the restaurant was full of patrons - this was late in the lunch hour on a Wednesday). I'm going to reiterate that we liked the food -- I just wish I could be raving about the whole experience. The food is the hard part and they got that right!! This restaurant is in a lovely location and is very charming, but the food was just awful. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of Parmesan fries to try. I got a plate with two pieces of cod with Parmesan fries and regular fries on the side. When I brought the mistake to our waiter's attention and shared that the Parmesan fries were just awful, he said " I'm sorry"..... and walked away. EVERYTHING was so salty, that it was hard to eat. We stayed at the resort next door for four days and only went to the Fish House once. Never again! read more

This experience was unfortunately a let down. My salad was inedible. The lettuce was not fresh and also lacked any flavor. The tuna tostada appetizer had the sticker from the avocado tucked into it. And the Brussels sprouts were so fried that they had no taste other than the grease they were cooked in. My husband ordered a white fish (I forget the kind) on top of a mushroom risotto, which was really wonderful. This was a very good dish. The Manager was very nice and took the salad off of our bill (I did not ask for that!), and apologized for the slow service. It was prom night and it seemed like perhaps they were short staffed. Went for the views stayed for the food! The patio seating was enclosed, but the tables still faced the sunset. We viewed the sunset from the roof top bar and returned downstairs for dinner. The grilled salmon was very flavorful over grains, but the menu was very limited in fish options with salmon or the days catch. Sitting along the window right before sunset was a bit hot and bright, but once the sun went down behind the clouds, we enjoyed an amazing sunset over dinner and drinks. We shared the smoked fish dip and the seafood fettuccini plate and it was quite good with plenty of fish and pasta to fill you up. Portion sizes were sufficient for the two of us (we have smaller appetites) Our server was quite attentive and she seemed to understand it was a date, so she checked on us at the perfect time the whole time. The best thing about the place is after dinner you can go up to the rooftop bar and enjoy the couches and continue to enjoy the evening view of the sunset and the ships in the harbor. Beautiful! I wish I could leave a review about the food but unfortunately we never made it to that step. As a party of four we were seated in the enclosed patio area, close to the entrance near the bar. The was a large party wrapping up the bill and two other tables with two to three guests each. The single waiter was hustling back and forth past us but never once acknowledged our presence. We felt invisible as though this was an intentional tactic to force us to leave. I kept an eye on my watch and told the wife at 15 minutes of waiting we'd depart. Sure enough, at 15 minutes and no acknowledgement from ANY EMPLOYEE we left the restaurant. Unfortunately, reading reviews, service seems to be an issue. Just like there are no bad dogs, only bad owners, there are real no bad employees, just bad managers. Had the waiter at least looked at us, or spoke to us, or even glanced in our direction I may have been inclined to wait longer. Went for dinner with a group of six after a day of sailing. Service was a little on the slow side even though we were seated immediately. The menu was not extensive but they had enough options that everyone in our party could find something they wanted to eat. We started with 2 orders of the calamari and 1 cornbread with honey butter for everyone to share. Both were good and I liked the marinara that came with the calamari. I ordered the flounder special which was pan seared and served over a vegetable medley & creamy sauce. The flounder was a bit dry but the cream sauce helped. The flavor was good. Hubs got fried shrimp which was served with french fries & slaw. The shrimp looked good & portion size was good. I was not a fan of the fries as they were the skinny shoestring style. We paid around $200 for 4 of the entees, drinks & the 3 appetizers so price point was not bad. Overall, I would give dinner service 3 stars & food 4 stars.
