Looks like a great neighborhood place, cozy but with an upscale feel. Great location if you want to avoid the busy downtown Niantic area. That said, the Eggplant Parm grinder I ordered was flavorless, including the cheese. Disappointing, but I may return for the pizza to give it a try. read more

Fantastic place for a quick bite! Stopped here grab some dinner while doing some laundry at the laundromat that is directly next door. There was only one waitress and she was very friendly. We were the only ones in the restaurant & our service was quick, but I can't speak to wait times during a rush. But I will say that the food was great! The portion sizes are large so we were able to take our leftovers for lunch the following day & they still were delicious. read more

This was my first time here. I have been driving by for quite some time. I decided to make this night, the night. My friend ordered a caprese sandwich. She wasn't impressed. I ordered the black point special pie. It piqued my curiosity. At first glance it looked amazing. It smelled amazing. When I finally took a bite of it, there was an explosion of flavor. I loved the garlic, I loved the calamari. The cherry peppers had a very faint flavoring on this pizza. The one spice that unpleasantly stood out was salt. The pizza was way too salty. I had asked the waitress if there's salt added to the food and she really couldn't be bothered. It's a shame; the location is cute, the wine selection was descent for a neighborhood spot. I feel that less salting of food would have made me bring my leftovers home and really want to revisit. read more

Fabulous little neighborhood pasta & pizzeria ristorante. Small & charming with booth & 2 & 4 top seating as well as a 8 seating bar. The staff welcomed me as soon as I entered & invited me to sit wherever (it was a quiet Sunday night). I had read the reviews & the chicken Marsala over penne looked & sounded divine. They quickly brought over ice water drink order & I inquired about their houses wines. They kindly offered me a tasting. I settled in the house red Montepulciano which was a solid medium body red for reasonable cost at $7- glass. they brought over some homemade warm Italian bread rolls with real butter which was a nice touch. The bread was light & pillowy but had a nice light brown top. The menu had a nice variety of selections to pick from: appetizers, salads, pasta dishes, pizza & Stromboli. I ordered the Chicken Marsala over penne. (Entrees come with a side salad or a side of penne with red sauce). There was a lively group at the bar. Definitely a group of local patrons enjoying themselves with friends. The server came back to check on me & see how I liked the wine & asked if I wanted more warm Italian rolls. About 12 mins later, the server brought out my entree.it was a generous portion & reasonable at $19- It was warm & had the lovely flavor of the sweet Marsala wine & the earthy flavors of both fresh sautéed portabellas & button mushrooms & some lovely Italian spices. It was lovely. I sipped on my wine & enjoyed the relaxing neighborhood charm of this local Niantic trattoria. The staff could not have been more gracious, helpful & efficient. I loved this place. Grazie Mino I was heading into town from Black Point for a quiet dinner alone. I hadn't been to Niantic in some time and while I was driving, I noticed Black Point Pizza next to the laundromat. I was tired and didn't feel like driving far. I was thinking, "Another pizza joint in Niantic." Oh well....I'll have a couple slices and head back for an early night. I'm so happy I stopped. This restaurant is so much more than just a pizza place. It's a great little restaurant that happens to have pizza on the menu. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Christine. She poured me a glass of montepulciano wine and a warm Italian dinner roll. I had the Chicken Marsala over penne pasta for dinner. Thin chicken cutlets sautéed with beautiful fresh mushrooms and just the right amount of marsala wine. Chef/owner Mino perfectly cooked my dinner. I completed the night with a delicious piece of tiramisu and a nice conversation with Christine. My wife and I tend to sit at the bar wherever we go because you always get the best service and conversations. My dinner experience was so good that I went back the following night. Once again, great wine, food, and conversations. This time I wanted something with sauce. Christine made a few suggestions, but highly recommended the eggplant Parmesan over penne pasta. Eggplant parm is one of my favorite dishes and Mino far exceeded my expectations. The eggplant was so tender and the sauce was incredible. Mino sat for a few minutes and we also had a nice conversation. I highly recommend going to Black Point Pizza. It's now my Go-To restaurant in Niantic. Italian food done right. read more

Best pizza in town. You can find your good New York style pizza, your good greek pizza, and even some bad pizza in town. But this is where you find your delicious Italian trattoria pizza. Not the puffy crust and floppy slice you'll find in Naples, but the crispy thin crust that holds up better to toppings, exactly like you'd expect to be served sitting at a little cafe in Rome. Glad to see others mention how delicious the sauce is, I ask for a bit extra on mine both because it's awesome and I think it makes any leftover pizza better. And the cherry on top? The staff is so nice! Friendly and kind as can be, they'll make you feel welcome even when the weather outside might not be as inviting. read more

Got the black point pizza it was fire! Very nice employees I got the pie before they closed. I had to reheat it because it was soggy and sloppy but I gave them a extra 10 min after the time they told me to pick it up. I'll just make sure I dine in or just make sure I get the pie right when it's out the oven next time. Keep up the good work! read more

What a find! My daughter tipped me off to this gem and boy oh boy! First off.. staff was friendly. Jocelyn was knowledgeable of the meals and was just plain wonderful. The pizza toppings fresh and first rate! Check the options... unbelievable! Thin crust was cooked perfectly, salad delicious. Lastly, this place is SPOTLESS. Cool interior, modest pricing. Everything on the menu is excellent! My husband and I have our favorites the salmon and Mino chicken. We love the clams casino and mussel pot appetizers too. We do enjoy the pizza occasionally with friends. The lobster ravioli and eggplant are are also delicious. The quality is always consistent whether we take out or eat in. Had a very good experience. Just returned full and happy. You have to try the fresh and very tasty calamri with gorgonzola cheese and special tometo souce. After that we ordered the pizza very good crust and wonderful sauce. Then my husband ordered the salmon. Ala plancha chrispy and yet moist. Served with poteto and vegetables very healthy dish . i helped him to finish the salmon so no pic of that but i do have some of the pizza. Enjoy. read more

Pizzas were good (cheese and popeye). Italian grinder was like a "wish" sandwich. I "wish" there was something between the bread.

Poor take out service. Pizza is good but twice they failed to enter my takeaway order in the system and had no record of it when I arrived. The first time I waited 15 mins in the restaurant. The staff gave me a free soda, but really? The whole point of takeaway is that it's ready when you arrive. The second time I cancelled my order. Management did not show any interest in managing the situation although he witnessed both incidences. Too bad for them because we WERE local repeat customers. read more

We've heard lots of good things about this relatively new local pizza (and more...) restaurant. We've consistently heard "good food but uneven service". I must say that clearly the off-season has mitigated the service issues and the food is excellent. And you can't beat the price. My wife and I stopped in on a Tuesday night. The place was about 1/3 full. Katie the waitress was relatively new but very friendly and accommodating. She was honest. When we asked "what's good and popular", she explained she was new and hadn't tried everything on the menu yet...we decided to split a Caesar salad and we split an entree, Polo di Mino. The salad was very large and easily satisfied the two of us. The dressing was excellent...tangy and hint of lemon. My only complaint was that the salad could have used a little less dressing. The salad was served with warm homemade rolls. They reminded us of Bertucci's rolls made with pizza dough. Irresistibly delicious! They are served with those commercial butter packs....a small dipping bowl of olive oil would have been a welcome and nicer alternative... The meal arrived pre split. This is a very nice move that too few kitchens offer. The split portions were plenty adequate...after salad and rolls especially! The chicken dish was very flavorful...chicken cutlets pounded and dredged in seasoned flour, sautéed and finished was a delicate lemon wine sauce with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and a touch of tomato. Excellent flavor, moist and not overly spiced with garlic or onion (a mistake many pseudo Italian restaurants make...). We enjoyed our meal with a couple of very generous glasses of Chilean Pinot. All in all a great meal for two for slightly more than $40. Can't be beat. If I have any complaints it's the fact that the place needs to take itself more seriously, despite the facility (formerly a gas station and quick mart) and location. It's not nouveau gourmet. But with a few touches it could raise its game beyond just a pizza place with good dinners. For example, the TV near the bar was set to "Wheel of Fortune". No one was watching it, the sound was on ( annoying) and it's not separated from the dining room. Either turn the TV off or set it to that burning Yule log with music. Anything but the game show. Also, the waitress was great, but we sat at a table set for 4and the other 2 place settings were never removed. And we had to remind the waitress the turn down the lights. It was way too bright when we entered and the lights ARE on a dimmer. Someone needs to be attending to the little things. It will make a big difference. One last peeve...the picture of the dining room on the website is a generic restaurant...looks so warm and homey. It's unfortunately not what you find when you walk in. Again someone needs to focus on the little things. But remember, the food is great and for the price it's a bargain. We will be back. read more
