Sadly, I fell for the "nice guy" that the person presented him to be. After my last experience with a Rheem water heater that lasted over 20 years, I knew I wanted another Rheem. Sadly, I worked with a King County program and this is "who / what" I ended up with. (The Plumbing Joint) BIG MISTAKE. The "nice guy" installed the lowest quality / crappiest water heater on the market. (Bradford White - water heater - ICON - E) TAKES FOREVER BEFORE "HOT WATER" comes through the pipes. First, the Plumber was great! Fantastic and professional individual. Second, yes, it was a Friday at 8PM but when you have sewage backing up into your front yard you don't really think clear. Contacted them and asked if it is just a service all price and hourly rate. They said yes and the tech will notify me of the rates. His iPad said 110/hr and 199 for service call. Ok, sweet! I'll do 400.00 for 30min of work and 30min of drive time. Well, not true. First, it was 298.60 for service call which included first 30min. (Tech called at 8:36, said 30min drive time and was on site at 9:11pm) then, it was 165/quarter hour for overtime and 110/hr overtime plus 99.00 for camera inspection and charged us for rags, gloves etc. Total bill was 1403.62. Gosh dang man really?!?!?! I had no choice to pay. Being a tradesman working for a large electrical contractor this is ridiculous. Our rates even for emergencies are half that for the time!!!! I understand the numbers side of this. Paying the employee including benefits, gas, insurance and overhead would equate to 475-500.00 tops. Add a 10% mark up for profit total bill should have been 550-600.00. Yes, more than I first thought but way easier for my family to swallow than 1400.00!!! They made over 800.00 off us and their employee by taking advantage of that situation. Integrity is becoming non existent. My customers rely on my honesty and up front prices before I perform the work including if it's an emergency. I want repeat customers. Continuously over charging customers looses them. It's too bad cause I really liked them. Should have rented a snake from Home Depot for 76.00 and done it myself. read more

My tenant is the one who noticed bec he did not know it flooded due to protective gears he's wearing and only paid attention to the bucket he was filling. Incident escalated and summoned LT from what he's doing, and the property management was contacted while damage is underway. Plumbing Joint did not pay anything for the damage because LT twisted his story and it was conveniently used by the Plumbing Joint to AVOID responsibility. LT's story implied that the disconnected hose was done on purpose by unit occupant and that tenant did not clear the path under the sink never mentioned in his story that he left his trainee (Trevor) to do the work unsupervised. Property Management downplayed the flooding incident also but arranged for mitigation same day which resulted to cutting and opening infected dry walls. Mitigation process took a week and a half to complete and cost the condo HOA $2,400 and my out of pocket cost of $2,500 to repair the damage which took six (6) months to find someone to fix the damaged areas. Insurance claim went all the way to intercompany arbitration but because it was labelled he say/she says so the company avoided paying. I will never let anyone from this company do work in any property of mine even ongoing maintenance contract via the Property Management or HOA unless one or the other signs off on pre-work condition. Customer longevity has no meaning anymore. Our company has been using The Plumbing Joint exclusively for many, many years. I called them due to a water leak we had, the person came out looked at it, told us what we needed and said the parts needed to be ordered. Couple days later, we got a bill for $395.98. They called us to let us know approximately how much the Backflow unit would be and some of the labor costs. They sent out a Journeyman plumber and an apprentice to do the job. We then got the bill for way more than expected and they charged us again for a Service Minimum and Technician labor. When I went to the office to pay, I spoke with Ashley about the double charges and she said, "the first guy did some work" He did not, our guys exposed everything for the first guy to see. She told me she would talk to Hailley (the manager) and have her call me. She never did call, so a couple days later, I called back to speak with Hailley. I wanted to talk with her not only about the two invoices, but also the discrepancies in the hourly billing amount. The first invoice (# 155949) has $110.00/Quarter hour, and the second one (# 155988) had $95.00/Quarter hour. But the hourly remained the same at $440.00, when the second invoice should have been $380.00/ hour. Ashley asked who I was, checked with her and Hailley wasn't available to speak with me. Ashley then told me that she was authorized on behalf of Hailley to clarify my concerns. I told her that we spoke when I was in the office and that my concerns were not met and that I wanted to speak with a manager. Original customer service on the phone was great. Friendly and helpful. Unfortunately....We just had someone out to empty our septic tank. Our appointment was at 4pm. When I scheduled I was very clear that I wouldn't be home until 4pm. They showed up almost an hour early which meant I wasn't home and my husband had to leave in the middle of a meeting to help them. The cost ended up being $880 when we were qouted $699. The mess that was left behind was outrageous and disgusting. One of our dogs immediately rolled in it, which was even more disgusting. I wish I would have read the reviews before hiring The Joint Plumbing. I am very disappointed not only by the quality of service, but the lack of responsiveness, and manner of professionalism. Attached photos to show the poor quality of work. STAY AWAY!!!! I hired Joint Plumbing to install a whole home water filtration system. They came to my home, took off twice for materials and still left a pile of garbage that needed to be torn out and installed by professionals (see attached). They did not mount the filtration system to the wall and left the main water line dangling flimsy in place. Their hours of operation are not correct. They say they are open 24 hrs on Sunday but when I called and spoke to the service I was told they are closed Sundays. I asked "what about an emergency?" The Plumbing Joint stands out in class, service, and honesty among all the plumbing companies that I called around. I had a bathtub drain leak in my 2nd floor condo, a random J&M plumbing sent by the condo's HOA took a video clip and gave me a outrageous quote to replace the drain pipe which already has the wall opened from the downstair. I am very handy around the house myself so I understand the scope of work but I am out of town at the moment and felt like I am being taken advantaged off by that plumber. I then called around sharing the clip with a bunch of plumbing companies, the plumbing joint is the ONLY company who would take a serious look, and provided a very reasonable quote. All the other companies, in my opinion, were either incompetent or inexperienced to understand the problem. They all insisted to come on site inspection to just get a quote which in my case is inconvenient because it requires arranging appointments with the residents in the below unit, and is also inefficient given I have already shared a video clip. Working with the Plumbing Joint's office manager was fantastic, (s)he is on point, highly professional, polite and responsive. The technican came out on the next day, everything was done efficiently, the most amazing part was that the repair was completed in half of the time of the initial estimate, which IMO is HIGHLY HONEST. Most plumbing companies would just go with the estimate instead of the actual work performed. They did not intend to take advantage of me being out of town at the moment. I saved over $1K working with Plumbing Joint compared to the random plumber. In summary, The Plumbing Joint gave me +Time and money savings. +Experience is outstanding. +High honesty and integrity that are very rare in these days. Super responsive, came next day for what I'd consider a non-urgent issue. My gutter underground drain lines were clogged and it was starting to pool next to the house. It seems that this company caters mostly to emergencies and their pricing reflects this. A guy showed up on time, and was here for maybe an hour and a half or two hours. There were four drain lines to look at, he was able to clear them but couldn't find the output. The next day, it rained hard, and two of them were clogged again and overflowing. Because he couldn't find the output, all he did was stir around all the junk in the lines or push it to the bottom of the system. The service is probably the biggest waste of money I've shelled out as a home owner. If clearing wasn't possible, I would've preferred they told me, and I would've dug them all up and replaced them for the same cost or less. I don't think I would be so upset except that it cost me over $600 and there was a $10 fuel fee. Shame on me for signing up- I knew the first half hour was almost 200, but didn't understand the 75 per quarter hour after was going to be so painful. Would have appreciated an estimate or heads up that they were counting minutes for billing. If I knew the danger I was in based on their billing structure, I would've kept a stopwatch, and kept my eye on everything the guy was doing. read more

I recently had a whole-house generator installed. The Plumbing Joint Inc. was the sub-contractor for the gas piping to the generator. Because they were the sub-contractor, I had no contact with the office, customer service, or any staff other than the plumbing Technician (and a "trainee") they sent out to do the work. The job involved running gas piping through the crawl space, penetrating out through the wall of the house, dropping down into a pre-dug 2ft trench that went out around behind the generator, then coming up and connecting into the back of generator. When the Technician "finished" the job and left, I had numerous issues with what he had done. I contacted my Project Manager, who contacted The Plumbing Joint Inc, who then sent out the same Technician who had created all the problems in the first place. I had hoped they would send out a different, more qualified Technician to make the corrections - after all, the original guy thought he had done it "right" the first time, so why would the company think he would be capable of even identifying let alone fixing these problems ??? Wanting to be fair, I had my Project Manager, a general contractor neighbor, and my own plumber come over and look at the situation prior to this second visit. All agreed that it may functionally work to deliver gas to the generator, but overall the job was unacceptable. The Technician returned for the 2nd visit, and I pointed out all the issues that had been identified. For each item listed he blamed the "trainee" for having done the work. After 1.5 hours, the Technician said he needed to order another "part," and would schedule to come back for a 3rd time. After he left, I discovered that he had spent the time digging under the corner of the generator and undermining the pad. I later discovered the damage done to the new insulation in the crawl space. At this point I decided to cancel any further work on my property by The Plumbing Joint Inc. Instead, I had my own plumber make the corrections/repairs, and re-do the gas piping in the trench from the house to the generator. My list of issues: Cut the strings and tore down parts of the NEW overhead fiberglass insulation in the crawl space Knocked the foam sleeves off of water lines in the crawl space Failed to paint exposed black iron (=rust) Trapped my garden hose behind the gas pipe Gas pipe was expected to exit the house and run parallel to the already installed electrical line - it did not Metal bar spiked into the corner of the generator pad, potentially weakening the integrity of the pad Large wad of tracer wire left wound around the pipe above ground Rather than follow the existing trench, dug under the corner of the generator and undermined the pad by 7" Piled the dirt from his digging up on the pad and up against the side of the generator Did not caulk any of the wall penetrations PHOTOS: 1. The plumber did not know how to connect draining pipe during initial visit. They came for a second visit saying that it was completed. Several months later, we realized that they directly connect it to the pipe right outside of the house. The water filter system will generate 60 gallons of water every time which forms a lake outside of our house. This issue is hard to identify due to water generation schedule is 3am midnight. Then they refused to provide any fix solution other than extra changes for the visit or contact manufacturer of the product knowing there is nothing wrong with the product. read more

Reliable, courteous, attentive and expensive. Kitchen faucet turned out to be broken and (replacement faucet with them would've been $350 for the faucet alone. Similar faucet at HD $100-150. So I asked the tech to tape it up for me. He did so kindly. I had a bathroom sink stopper broken, and stuck. The rusted stopper was removed. A second bathroom sink was replaced with a new faucet that I had already purchased at a big box store. My water heater had gone out and the quote from the Plumbing Joint was very reasonable (time+parts) and they were able to accommodate the installation quickly which was amazing. The office crew was extremely helpful in getting me set up with an appointment. The gentleman who came out was quite nice, however, the end result did leave me pretty upset. I'm not sure where the breakdown was but now it is going to cost me more money. The original water heater was installed incorrectly (I knew this going into it). Prior to work starting, I told the plumber that I believed there were things that needed to be fixed and to please do what needed to be done for it to be correct (I would have been happy to pay for it as it was time + parts). He completed the work and did fix a few things but the most glaring was not moving the water heater so that it could be properly strapped to the wall. Upon completion and seeing that he just reinstalled the water heater in the same place, which according to him did not meet code. I was honestly really shocked as I did state prior to work being started to just make sure it was correct as it was not in its previous installation. When asked how much it would be to fix it he said that he would have to start over and it would be another 2-3 hours + parts. Essentially I would need to pay to have the work done twice when it could have been done correctly the first time at a more reasonable price. I paid for the work done ($900+) but am really disappointed that it was not done properly and that I'll have to pay to get it fixed again. Shame on me for not asking more questions, monitoring the work more closely, or apparently knowing the plumbing code to know to specifically ask to have it moved. However, if you're hiring a licensed plumbing contractor you would assume they would alert you to an issue like this before starting and ensure it is done correctly. read more

The apprentice was great and super friendly but the other guy was quite standoffish. I'm giving this 3 stars because they did do good work but they charged me an extra $75 because they included the walk from the car to my unit and included the time spent getting more parts from their van in the time charge. The plumber man doubled down on this even when I pointed out that I had timed that they were gone for 10 minutes to the van. They claimed that this time was spent walking to and from their van. Why am I being charged because they couldn't find a better parking spot? Due to the overcharge of time the work was $100 more than the high end of the estimate I got from the initial scheduling phone call. I'm glad to have it fixed but it was overly expensive. read more

Mixed bag. I was all set to have a wonderful experience with the Plumbing Joint today. I called them because they have been around a long time, are local and seemed reputable. They were the company that my landlord called when I was a renter with a leaking water heater on a weekend. The fast and professional service that I received then stuck in my mind. So, as a new home owner needing a water heater replaced and a leaky tub faucet fixed, I called the Plumbing Joint too. I called and spoke with Hailey (who was delightful to talk to) to get an estimate for a new water heater. She gave me an estimate of 1696.45 and said it would take two hours. My purse cried a bit, but I thought...."OK. Just get it done! The home inspector said to make it a priority before it becomes a problem. And it includes the parts, labor and everything." So I took the day off to make it happen. Ashley called to say that Robert was ahead of schedule and could come early. "Alright!!!" I thought. He arrived bright and early at 9am, called me and I came out to meet him and show him where my unit was and where to pull up to unload and where to park. He was masked, took his shoes off...Perfect. He looked at what I needed to have done. He took apart the faucet and told me that I needed some parts. I took them and ran to Lowe's to pick them up while he started with the water heater. At some point while he was working, he said it was taking longer because he had to replace hoses and stuff and bring things up to code. I wasn't surprised because I suspect that the heater is as old as the place which was built in 1976 and said so. But, since I had given them the serial number, I thought they knew what to expect and that the estimate reflected that. Four hours later, what I did NOT expect, was the bill, which was $2409.50!!! :-0 What if I had only had $1700? Was I naive to expect that the reason that you get an estimate was to help you to know how much to budget for your project? I thought that the purpose was to have a realistic idea of how much it was going to cost, so you can choose whether to do it or not and know if you can afford it. Or, was it dumb of me to not stand there breathing down the plumber's neck asking 5 million questions and asking if it was extra or how much was it going to cost every minute? Maybe so. But I sucked it up and paid it. This did NOT include the bathroom. He had to leave to move on to the next job and couldn't finish the bathroom because he needed a connector to attach it to. He wrote down the two items needed. Before he left I called Ashley to see if I could get him to come back to finish it later today. She said they were booked up but he was available on Saturday and the earliest appointment was Thursday. But I couldn't take off then. So I asked her to put me on a waitlist, with 2 or 3 people on it. Then I started to call around to see if someone else could come out to do it today. And yay! I found the aptly named service I Need A Plumber Now! BUT... while I was waiting for them to come, I decided to do a load of laundry. And there was no water to the washer. Called the P J, who called back to say turn on the water valves. Ok, phew....danger averted..... UNTIL I noticed my new $2400 hoses were LEAKING water! I called the P J and told them what was happening. Ashley said she'd get somebody out there. I did not feel real secure in my purchase right then, especially since my old crusty water heater that was probably held together by rust NEVER leaked. Robert came back and the other plumbers were there. Awkward... They deferred to him since he had already started the work and mentioned that they had seen another P J truck down the street. So he thought to call dispatch and got that plumber's number to ask if he had the needed part. He DID! So he went and got it. OK, good looking out Robert!! Then he went to the water heater and tightened stuff, and it still leaked, and leaked. I started wiping the hoses with paper towels to see if they were still leaking. He said that the rubber hoses sometimes have problems with the washers inside them. He changed the rubber to a metal hose but didn't say that ahead of time or tell me that it added $30 to the tab. He worked on the bathroom for what felt like a LONG time. He wrote up my bill and he told me something about how the connector in the wall was too far back and crooked and the wall may have to be torn out at some point to fix it. But by then, all I could do was politely thank him and pay the additional $471.98 that this adventure cost me. The winners today were my credit card companies, who will get interest for months to come and the P J. As I clean Robert's footprint from my shower curtain/tub, I just feel broke and tired as what I imagined as a few hours and 2 grand became all day and 3 grand. I would have liked better communication along the way to know what was being done and how it impacted the costs. I can only hope that the work is now solid. read more

We rent, but in exchange for a relatively low rent, our landlord wants nothing to do with repairs. So, plumbing issues have been piling up, and Kathy found these guys online. At first, our appt was 3 to 5 with a 3hour window. Then we got a call this morning; they have a fellow who finished a job early; could he come now. Perfect! Robert showed up, wearing a mask (loved that!) And removed his shoes at the door. I showed him everything we needed, and he went to work, right away, taking care of things, one by one. Last item, our kitchen sink leak, turned out to be a faulty faucet. Gave us options; we ended up letting him install a new one off his truck (after I googled faucet prices and found their price in line with Home Depot). He was done in very good time; no messing around, no phone calls (like movers we had once; charged by the half hour, but both had so many personal calls til I got angry and told them, no more calls), very informative (we always rent; first experience with a plumber), and very amiable. I also need to mention his cleanliness; after he fixed our tub blockage, he totally cleaned that tub so no sludge remained. The Plumbing Joint was the only plumbing service that was willing to tell me their rates before coming out for an emergency repair, so I went with them. And I'm so glad I did! They were friendly, professional, worked quickly to resolve the problem (a valve had broken in my bathtub faucet, so the water couldn't be shut off), AND . . . were much less expensive than a different plumber who I previously had over to fix a leaky faucet. Needed water heater install. Unfortunately I did not take their bid. Sent them photos of the entire area and was happy working with them online. The bid was reasonable and I was very happy with their responsiveness, reaching out over phone and attention to detail for the different configurations I requested. I had a slightly better bid with a company that provided similar help and went with that one. read more

Dakota was the service person they sent out. He did a great job! He was on time, did he work in a timely and clean manner. He offer other services but in a low pressure way. At the end of the appointment I was happy that our pipes weren't clogged anymore but after a few days, I though about the $760 bill for an 1 1/2 worth of work. Below is the invoice. I agreed to the $189/hr and then $65/ 15 minutes, what I was surprised by was the price of the use of the jetter, I don't understand why I'm paying extra for a plumber's tools. He quoted an hour and used it for 1/2 then still charged me the full price. We are so grateful to have found them. When we had an unlocated leak, we had trouble even finding someone to come check it out. Some people told us they could be here in 2 or 3 weeks. Some didn't return phone calls. One had an inquiry form on their website...and took 3 or 4 days to write back and say they don't service our area. Of course, I'd read on Yelp about some other plumbing companies that gouge people, so we didn't bother with them. The Plumbing Joint came within a couple of days, then were able to schedule us about a week after that for what turned out to be a fairly major project, involving excavation in our front yard. We had insurance for it, and they communicated with the adjuster to get that squared away. They also credited the cost of the first service call to the repair project. Everyone we talked to--both in the office and the workers here--was so pleasant and helpful. Mask guidelines and social distancing were followed. The guys even took a credit card on site by me showing it to them out of the window. Their office is only about a 7 minute drive from our house, but we didn't know about them. I scheduled a repair for my 90 year old grandmothers toilet, and $400 later her issue remains and The Plumbing Joint has forgone all responsibility but gladly took her money. This is shameful and will be taking our business to a company that doesn't take advantage of elderly customers. **Randy thank you for your reply. However, in this situation an upheld warranty is not what we are looking for. Your technician confirmed with my brother the issue was fixed, which is false, so leveraging a warranty on a part that didn't fix the issue doesn't make her whole. read more
