My wife and I try to get as much grouper as we can when in Florida and there are two unique dishes we ordered that were just delicious: Stuffed Grouper and their "Cafe De Paris" prepared Grouper. The AuGratin potato side dish went well with our entrees and house vegetable. As much as I like key lime pie, their sorbet version was nice but I wouldn't write home about it. Our server was pleasant and on point without being overbearing. No question one of the premier restaurants in Sanibel/ Captiva Island.

The vibe in this rebuilt / relaunched place was uplifting. We ordered a grouper sandwich, crab cakes and some of freshest oysters I've had ever. I also tried the shrimp bisque that was so delicious. Unfortunately, the newly erected sand dune/burm blocks the view to take in a sunset. Don't let that stop you from coming here for a satisfying experience on Captiva Island.

Service was a little slow and a bit curt, but despite us coming at an off-hour (~3pm), the restaurant was pretty full and lively, so I'll give service a pass. We started with the calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was excellent! It was served hot and each piece was tender - no notes. I also sampled the shrimp bisque but it was quite chunky/thick and not creamy. It felt like the texture came from puréeing the shrimp which I found to be off-putting. It's served with oyster crackers. My friend and I ordered the seafood platter, which is big enough to share. It came with clam strips, fried shrimp, peel and eat steamed shrimp, a piece of fried fish, a single bbq shrimp, French fries (similar to McDonald's shoestring fries), coleslaw, and all the necessary condiments - tartar sauce, cocktail sauces, and an aioli. It was quite filling. My favorites from the platter were the fried shrimp and steamed shrimp - they were cooked nicely and had good texture. While we were eating, the table next to us ordered the shrimp platter and crunchy shrimp - both looked really good. I was least impressed by the lone bbq shrimp - it was a grilled shrimp and topped with bbq sauce, which didn't add anything. You'd think because there was only one piece of shrimp, that it would be something special... it was anything but. Our table also ordered the Chicken Marco Rosa (chicken breast with goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, basil, and a lemon butter sauce, served with potatoes and green beans) and shrimp tacos. The lemon butter sauce was very tasty. The shrimp tacos come with two tacos and are also served with chips and salsa. The tortilla chips are comically and obviously store-bought. Overall, I would say the food is good, but nothing exceptional or worth going out of your way for. The grouper sandwich is market price, which was $40+ (which I find absurd). The Mucky Duck is "THE place to be" at sunset, but when you come at a time other than sunset, it's pretty average.

It used to be one of our treats to eat there for breakfast instead of at our house during our summer vacations. This past visit - we missed the breakfast cut off and had lunch there. I opted for the grouper sandwich. Something about a fish sandwich on an island is just luxury to me. They offer it grilled, blackened, bronzed, or fried. Bronzed sounded intriguing to me which is a mix of savory with a hint of sweet. Wow. It was awesome. I also ordered a bloody mary which was delicious. My sister in law got the ribs and loved them. Everyone else got the fish sandwich. Service is so friendly, and they usually have live music going on. A great, affordable place to enjoy a meal. They also have a lot in front for parking, but it's very walkable if you're staying in a house nearby or even the south seas resort.

The food was good, nothing stellar but it was decent. It was altogether an enjoyable morning with the colorful setting. We also just walked in after dinner one evening and one of the servers got us rang up and got our dessert pretty quickly which was nice. The key lime was lovely. It was the right amount of tart, along with the whipped cream and some tart raspberry /lime syrup and it was a splendid combination. It was the perfect dessert to enjoy after a nice beach day and staying in paradise on Captiva.
