The bowl was lacking flavor and they were very cheaky with ingredients. The price was more expensive than other comparable poke shops. The seaweed salad was extremely thick and chunky. The rice was too chewy and gummy. The fish could have been fresher as well. My partner and I both loved the our poke bowls here. We found it to be tasty, filling, and good value. Only complaint is that they close at 5pm on Mondays and Tuesdays so when we tried to go again on a Tuesday after work, they were closed. I just love Poke! It's one of my favorite things in the world. This place is great... fast, fresh, and reasonably priced.

It's the little details. They had the little bits and pieces of herbs, spices and bulb flavours to sprinkle at the end. I had dried onion and a seaweed, hot pepper mix. Umami type sesame dressing tied all the greens and fish together. The rice is f***king perfect. The ingredients were fresh and we were in at nearly 5pm. Far from being the best poke I've tasted. Walk by and thought to check it out but it was rather disappointing. I had the big bowl which was $10.95 with two base and unlimited toppings (Small bowl is one base and five toppings.) The fish is extra ranging from $2 to $2.50 per scoop. The toppings were however less than what I've seen at other Poke shops. What was the biggest issue however was the freshness of the fish. My opinion is that it wasn't fresh enough for the sockeye salmon. I had a strong fish taste throughout the bowl. The portions are generous however. I ate a few bites but didn't like the overall strong fishy taste (fresh fish will not smell or taste fishy - yeah go figure!) Ended up turning the Poke bowl in to stir fry which actually tasted quite good after it was cooked. (didn't want to risk getting a stomach ache if the fish wasn't fresh enough so needed to fry it. The mix of rice and veg with the fish was pretty good once cooked.) It could be a one off experience since I came towards the end of the day around 6 PM but overall I don't plan on returning. The service didn't seem very friendly either. Overall the bowl of poke worked out to about $17 after tips. Reasonable but not the best value in Vancouver. The one I quite liked was West Coast Poke. It costs about half of that and was fresh with quite a few options; they let you mix the base with the small bowl still which this doesn't.) read more

Great small business starting out in Van! I highly recommend you check this place out because the poke is excellent and the owner is very friendly. My partner and I walked into this place not knowing that it is actually opening later this weekend, and still the owner Jak happily welcomed us in and treated us to some poke! The poke was excellent since the fish had been pre-marinated, and the staff offered us lots of different options to customize our order, including choices of rice or salad, fruit toppings (I got my favourite - mango!), vegetables, and even sauces/sesame seeds. We both had a hard time choosing. I especially liked that I could mix rice and salad together (the best of both worlds) with mango and avocado. The poke remained the star of the meal for me. Jak chatted with us throughout our meal, and he certainly knows a lot about poke. He explained how poke comes from Hawaii, but there are variations throughout the USA, especially in California and New York. My partner has had poke before on a trip in San Diego, but he thought this poke was equally great! Great to try out a new place and love that poke is becoming popular in Vancouver. Nice decor, friendly staff, delicious poke! Got the 'Big Guy' with albacore tuna, sockeye salmon and scallop poke. A variety of mixings, sauces and toppings to compliment your poke perfectly. My only gripe is the long wait time to order during lunch hour. It took about 25 mins to get to the front. When you only have an hour (or 30 mins in my case) it may not be the best choice. There is good reason for this though, as each bowl is carefully assembled to your exact specifications. I guess good poke comes to those who wait. read more

The staff I encountered were friendly, informative, and patient through the process of picking your toppings. The only downside, and why I'm not giving the full 5 stars, is their limited hours. First of all, I was served by the owner who was super personable. He gave me an extra scoop of poke for agreeing to wait, which I think is a pretty classy move. I mean, fish isn't exactly cheap. The poke was delicious and I was pleased with the number of toppings I could choose. The cardboard box was practically busting open from being filled to the rim.
