A friend and I were looking for a cute holiday event to attend while she was in town, and the Merry Moose pop-up at the Virgin Hotel Pool Club fit the bill, so we decided to check it out. Maybe it was because I had zero expectations, but the experience turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As soon as we arrived upstairs, it felt like we had teleported to the North Pole. The entire space was surrounded by Christmas trees and twinkling lights, with cozy furry and plaid textiles everywhere you looked. It wasn't very busy, so we were able to get a table without a reservation, and the service was relatively quick. Our hot cocktails arrived in adorable seasonal mugs, and our cold cocktail was garnished with a festive sprig of rosemary. The food was a bit pricey, but our group really enjoyed the tangy crab dip and the sweet-and-spicy Brussels sprouts. We would have skipped the pork belly if we'd known about the small portion size and how bland it would turn out to be. It was too cold to go outside during our visit, so they weren't making fake snow at the time. That said, the skyline views from our table more than made up for it. I'd be open to coming back for another pop-up event, but without the festive decor and seasonal cocktails, I'm not sure the pricey food would be worth the trip despite the epic view. read more

We had a group of seven and had a reservation a cabana for two hours one evening at The Pool Club. We were a little disappointed because they said they were out of propane and could not light our fire pit table. They did offer to seat us in a another location, but we preferred the cabana so we stayed. Later they offered to pull over a heater which was night. The service was not great. I felt sorry for our waitress. She had to serve most of the tables by herself, and they definitely needed more staff. The drinks were good and served in fun cups. The hot chocolate was amazing. We came for the Merry Moose pop-up. Everything was decorated really nicely, but the outside area & pool were closed so there was no fake snow or anything as we saw on the IG post. We appreciated that they sat us an hour before our reservation. The bedtime story drink with buttered rum tasted watery, but I definitely loved the Jack Frost. My husband liked his hot tod, but again watered down (needs cider). All drinks were potent which is better than a weak drink. They had a DJ that thankfully was not too loud and had good music. We had made a reservation 2 days in advance fior a group of 9 at a fire pit table. We arrived to find out the table top fire pit was out of gas and they lacked any refills. For a roof top bar there was not much of a view. The pool looked inviting but it was 50 degrees outside. They were short staffed so the manager took our order. It's in incredible disheartening when you order a MOCKTAIL & you are served alcohol. literally have a whole section on the menu that says 'zero proof'. I'm actually pregnant so when I ordered a mocktail , it wasn't supposed to be taken lightly! And even if I wasn't pregnant, people may be sober, have health conditions, or may be under 21- when you order a non alcoholic beverage you should be served a non alcoholic beverage. The waitress was apologetic and made me another but at that point I really couldn't trust anything. They also brought my ticket out with the mocktail included and I told them I absolutely wasn't paying for it since it came out with ALCOHOL and i repeatedly expressed I did not want another one. Went for a good friends birthday brunch. Our waiter Lexie was great, for her to have been new she did really good and only made the mistake of bringing out one item wrong. Explanation below. Upon ordering I ordered the tacos but then changed it to the Baja bowl after the waiter mentioned it was better choice. I was unfortunately brought out the tacos though. The really kicker was the drinks. We specifically asked about the mocktails ingredients and nonalcoholic "spritzers" inside of them. When they came out we double verified which drink was nonalcoholic as one person could not drink alcohol. That drink 100% had alcohol in it even after double checking and ensuring it did not. The other waiter (NOT Lexie) did not seem phased by the fact that they just gave alcohol to someone that can not have it and just remade the drink even after we said we just didn't want them any longer. She didn't apologize just said she'd remake them. After paying we asked one of the hostess for the validation code for parking and her response was "I think you should ask your waiter for that because I don't know" although we were told the code was right at the hostess desk. When we told her that just for reference so that she would know she got pretty defensive. The customer service just wasn't great. I honestly am bummed at my experience the waitress you could tell did not want to serve our group and was not the friendliest. She acted more as we were an inconvenience while we were so nice and a very chill group that does brunch once a month around town and usually have no issues with separate checks. She would not do separate checks and claimed they didn't do it but I saw a much happier waitress do it for another table no problem. I could see if they were busy but the place was maybe 25% full and I think we were the only table for our waitress or 1 of 2 she had at the time we were there. The staff was hanging out together so easily had the time to do checks for us. The food was actually really good but could have been a bit better with small improvements, grilled cheese was a little burnt on one side and on the colder side when it got to me. Truffle fries did seem to not have truffle they tasted like regular fries. I had a free drink coupon from a previous event but since we couldn't split the bill I paid $40 for a grilled cheese since easiest way was to just divide service fee and tax which I understand and don't blame group for. Service for the price and experience just didn't match. Parking on street can be a few bucks or valet for $10 with validation at hotel. They had a fun cabin vibe. Also the music was so loud if you're going with people to talk this is not a great spot because it's very hard to hear each other over the music. read more

I really like the views and decor of the rooftop at the Pool Club. I've been in the spring and in the winter when it was decorated for the holidays and found it to be a really cute place to bring friends for a drink. As with most rooftop bars, the drinks are pretty expensive. I was in Nashville for the weekend with a group of 6 and we spent more here on two rounds of drinks than we did at any other location for drinks or dinner during the weekend ($350). There are quite a few fees added to the bill. I would still recommend if you've never been or if you want to get a drink and take pictures or look at the view. read more

I've never had such an unappealing experience at a rooftop! I would NOT recommend this spot at all. Grace was our server for a reserved dinner and was rude and inattentive the whole experience. She would only take the orders of half the table, wouldn't come back until later with their orders and STILL did not take the full order of the rest of the table -- even when we politely told her we were ready. We had to grab her attention again just to get our food orders in -- acting annoyed like a child. Then as we were leaving, she motioned "shoo" at us out of our table. We weren't even at the rooftop (which was not busy) for long at that point either (half of the time spent just trying to get our orders in properly). While the decor is nice, the food is incredibly mid for the price, and music was so loud that you can't enjoy chatting with your friends. In Nashville, you can definitely find other rooftops nicer than this place, for even a cheaper price. read more

I visited The Pool Club on the rooftop of the Virgin Hotel for brunch this past Sunday, the name is cabin club for winter months. With an early reservation at noon, the place wasn't super busy yet, which made for a relaxed experience. The holiday décor was charming! The space was beautifully decorated, with festive touches throughout, including the seating area. They also had a holiday-themed drink menu, a DJ playing upbeat music, and plenty of decorative seating that added to the cozy vibe. It's a great spot for photo ops, both indoors and outdoors (though it was too cold to sit outside this time). The food menu was limited but thoughtfully curated, with a mix of breakfast and lunch options that fit the brunch theme perfectly. We both tried the short rib tacos, and they were excellent--juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The fruit and granola were fresh and delicious as well. Drinks were a bit pricey, which is typical for the area. My hot chocolate cost $13, and I made it boozy, which bumped it up to $18. Despite the cost, it was delicious! The marshmallows were a bit over-toasted, but I just removed them and still enjoyed the drink. Service was great--attentive yet laid-back, matching the chill, cozy atmosphere. While there's a 1.5-hour limit for brunch seating, we didn't feel rushed since it wasn't busy at the time. Overall, I'd recommend The Pool Club for a fun, festive brunch experience. Very cool rooftop bar for some drinks. Came on a Wednesday evening so it wasn't super crowded. DJ was spinning 80s music which was fun. People were sitting outside chilling and a few were at the bar. Bartender was super cool and knew her stuff when it came to cocktails. Even though it was a slow night we still had fun. Drinks were good, music was good, Brie was killer. Would come here for a pre dinner or post dinner drink for sure. would come here with a larger group of friends to party too. My friends and I can here Halloween weekend to check out the Queen of Hearts brunch. The vibe was very cool. We loved the decorations and that some of the staff dressed up. We thought the DJ was awesome as well! However the food was really disappointing, especially for a $200+ bill for 4 people. Three of us enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and those were excellent, as were the truffle fries. But the fruity pebbles French toast, hot chicken and waffles, and the breakfast wrap were less then enjoyable. We didn't get a chance to talk to our waiter about the food, as the staff were stretched thin for how many guests were there. We came a week or so ago. When you enter the virgin hotel (where this bar is located on the rooftop), front desk staff monitored capacity and we waited about five minutes until there was room for us. Then, they sent us up the elevator. To our surprise, upstairs was sort of a free for all- we expected to have a table waiting for us, and had to flag down a server to ask if this is a seat yourself type of place. Cocktails and food were delicious- left off a star for covid procedures. While there was no bar seating, people were walking around at their will, and tables were sort of just grab one if you can- not a ton of distancing. read more

Honestly can't complain with the quality of the hotel bar food here. Was it the best cheeseburger in the world? Not necessarily but definitely comparable to burger places in the city. Also had the grilled cheese and tomato soup and was satisfied. Everything was spaced appropriately due to COVID. The waiter gave great service and the scenery is great! We had to try out the newest addition to the Nashville rooftop bar scene. We stopped in around 5pm on a Saturday night and were told we would have to wait about an hour which was expected. They have another outdoor bar on the ground level which helped us pass the time. Once allowed up, we were able to see the beautiful interior just in time for sunset! We sat outside and the tables were well spaced out and CDC compliment. The drinks were delicious and our waiter was extremely friendly. My only complaint is that I wish there were outdoor heaters because it did get quite cold as the sun set! read more

Went there for brunch, and the food was comically bad. The guacamole & chips were $13 and it is store bought, Holy Guacamole brand....our entire group recognized it and we thought it was a joke!! The rest of the food was absolutely terrible as well. The chilaquiles were plain chips with cold egg on top. My friend could not even eat the scrambler. She described it as bad cafeteria/camp food. Last night a group of us were at the bar inside the pool club and I went to get my first round of drinks for my friends and I. The bartender Nicole, walked by and laughed "no" because my group was "bad tippers." My friends and I have all worked in the service industry before and I can assure you she wasn't getting stiffed. However, being a bartender in the past, even if I was, I wouldn't / couldn't refuse to service someone because they weren't tipping to my standards. I will start by saying I addressed this with the manager, also known as "Life of the Party" and she assured me she would do whatever she could to make things right. Have I heard from her since? Of course not! We had very high hopes for our day and we were very disappointed. When we arrived and ordered coffee to start our brunch, we were brought coffee in to-go cups, and our waters were brought to us in solo cups. For a place you have booked for 3 hours with a minimum cost, we expected a little nicer set up. The table beside of us had actual coffee mugs. We could've looked past that, but the biggest issue was our service and experience. We were told when we booked (we reserved a table with a $500 minimum) that we would have a personal waitress, a DJ would be playing, etc. Our waitress had to be tracked down and we had to get her attention for EVERYTHING. Meanwhile, she was scrolling on her phone at the bar. When she actually brought things to our table, she rushed, sat the stuff down, did not make eye contact, and walked away immediately without asking if anyone needed anything. When we booked, we were told 11-1 was the time to book if we were looking for a good time to day drink and have a good time. The DJ didn't show up on time and by the time he set up, was only playing for 45 minutes out of our THREE hour booking. We ordered an app of guacamole and chips and the guacamole was store bought and not good. Again, something we could have easily let go, but our friend specifically asked the bartender/waitress if the avocado toast had the same avocado spread on it as the guacamole dip and she assured her it did not. My friend even asked to verify that it was fresh avocado on the toast and was told that is was. When they brought the avocado toast, it had the same store bought avocado spread on it so she asked nicely to please have them take it back and she ordered something different. The bartender/waitress got smart and tried to tell her there were different seasonings in it. That wasn't the issue. When one of the managers came by to check on things we expressed our disappointment in the atmosphere and the DJ not being there and her response was that since it was a rainy day he was just late. No offer of anything to make our experience better or to make up for that. We will never be returning nor will we recommend this place. OH, and we were charged for the avocado toast that was NOT what we were told it was. Terrible service and attitudes from wait staff the entire time we were there. read more

I have never written a review before because nothing has been worth the trouble honestly. I made a reservation here last week for Easter Sunday, so two weeks in advance. I told my friend that's where I picked and she said absolutely not - that maybe we can go there for drinks but that the food is store bought (confirmed by an employee) and the service is horrible as far as wait times and disrespectful staff. That obviously didn't sound ideal so I just cancelled the reservation... literally an hour after I made it. I had already prepaid for a surprise dessert since it's also my friends 22nd birthday. When I cancelled the reservation I didn't get a refund for the dessert but no big deal - I just called and left a voicemail. Nobody called back so I called once a day for about seven days. I left seven voicemails saying the same thing. Nobody will call me back. Based on the other reviews about absurdly up-charging store bought food (Holy Guacamole brand guac for $13 lol), I realized that they're pretty stingy with money. Obviously they're required to give me my money back eventually, but it seems like they're hoping I'll just give up if they ignore me for long enough. I walked into the hotel since I live close by and the hotel guest agent gave me the managers email, so I'll delete this if she gets back to me. If you're going here just don't prepay for anything, it seems like you can't trust it. Update: the email given to me was the manager at the Dallas location. I feel bad for the bluntness of my email to her for a problem she can't solve. But I will have to start the whole process over which is even more frustrating. It's interesting to me because my neighbor was telling me she called a couple days ago about making a reservation and they got back to her. We stopped for lunch on a beautiful April day. The restaurant was packed - indoors and outside with the pool open for those staying at the hotel. While the menu was reasonably interesting for a hotel restaurant, the execution was really less than stellar. The lobster roll was not very tasty and the roll very bland. The chicken salad sandwich (minus the croissant b/c there were no gluten free options) was also bland. And the mound of home made potato chips, while abundant, were not very good for all the effort. Great potential due to the setting and views, but the food quality was terrible and the music was so loud I couldn't hear anyone at my table. The menu has very few options and being a large party we tried most of it. The guacamole was small and tasted processed, fruit was unripe and canned, scrambler was tiny and consisted of meat and potatoes rather than scrambled eggs, and the chilaquiles was basically just a bowl of tortilla chips. And to top it all off, all the food was extremely overpriced. The avocado toast and salad were good but would recommend going to the coffee shop on the first floor for breakfast food instead. read more
