I went to an event here and it was a nice vibe. The space itself was nice. Because it was cold, I can't really rate the atmosphere on the actual rooftop but I plan to go back when it warms up. I had truffle fries and tasted my friend's wings and they were good. I didn't like that the women's restaurant had a stall down so it made for a long wait time. Be careful if you're wearing stilettos in the outside area as the bricks aren't mounted down or didn't have anything between the cracks. All of the ladies who worked the bar were nice. Typically anywhere from 4 to around 6 or 7 is happy hour around the country, so why is this place so unhappy during "happy hour?" I couldn't tell if "Misery" the clear head person in charge/bartender was racist or just really unhappy with her job. I am the last person to pull the race card so I'll just assume she was miserable, but my experience still made me wonder. Since we were staying at the hotel below, My friend begged me to go with him, since he never sat and enjoyed drinks/food on a rooftop bar. I went and regret wasting my time. Walked in and sat at the bar. And that's all we did was sit. So I suggested moving to the other side. We walked all around the bar and sat on the opposite side and continued to just sit. Not a greeting, a hello, a smile, or any acknowledgement whatsoever. Another female employee came in, saw us just sitting there and handed us menus. The miserable bartender literally snatched the menus back and scolded the young lady saying they were the wrong menus. I felt so bad for her. She said those were what she was told to give. (I later asked if she was new/training and she said yes) "Misery" then looked at the menu, realized they were the correct ones, placed them back in front of us and says "HaHa, just kidding" Now, she asks us what would we like to drink, while we haven't even had a chance to look at the food/drink menu. We ordered drinks. The Ecto Cooler and The Whiskey Thief Punch. They came in capri-sun like pouches rather than a glass and I thought that was pretty cool! While making or drinks, two non ethnic people walked in and "Misery" goes "Hello, you guys can have a seat anywhere and someone will come over to you!" I'm like we can sit anywhere? Why didn't we get greeted like that? Heck we didn't even get acknowledged after sitting at the 2nd location.... So then we go to order food. The menu consisted of nine items printed, and some handwritten items on the bottom. We want one of the Flatbread. "Misery" says we're out of Flatbread. That's 3 of the 9 items on the printed menu. My friend seeing how annoyed I was ordered fried pickles, "Misery" says they are out of that too. On a Friday???? You're missing almost half the menu, not counting the handwritten nondescript items? I questioned if they were really out or if she just wanted us to leave. We did move to the outside part of the rooftop right before the food came out. The young lady who was responsible for the outside portion was warm and provided excellent service. My friend trying to save the evening ordered the black truffle fries. When they came out, there was clearly no, black truffle oil or "fresh cilantro" on the fries. Couldn't tell if the "fresh garlic" was present as I was over the whole situation at this time. Item not as described. I had to leave . There are plenty of rooftops in downtown Nashville, but I would have loved to enjoy this one since it was where we were staying. The look was there but It was definitely not in line with the Marriott brand. There were so many other things wrong with the situation but this review is long enough. "Misery" because I don't know her real name made this an impossible place to enjoy. I feel bad for the people working under and with her. And I feel bad for anyone experiencing this place as their first welcome to Nashville.... I had a blast at UP rooftop lounge which is located in the Gulch on top of the Fairfield Marriott away from the ruckus with stunning views of Nashville. The hospitality was amazing!! The F&B director Roy really wowed us with exceptional service. We will definitely be back our next time in Nashville. I love the lounge vibe with music and the fire going and relaxing without huge crowds. The drinks were great and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the truffle fries and their crisps! DRINKS: Really good, really boozy Pricing made sense in terms of context (upscale place and located in the city). COVID SAFETY: The lounge is outdoors and it is a really modern looking set up with fun chairs, neon lights and gas fire pit tables! Since it was outside that made us feel better about attending. Employees were all properly wearing masks (covering their nose) and hand sanitizer was available at both the hotel entrance (where you come inside) and at the restaurant hostess stand. OVERALL - Had a fun night! Have never been to a rooftop bar before and this was a great introduction! The view is beautiful and we got lucky to see the sunset from up there! Do not recommend this place if you're looking for a dinner spot especially if you're a bachelorette group. We made a reservation months in advance for our party of 10 people for my bachelorette. We showed up 5 mins before our reservation to a completely empty restaurant and the hostess/waitress took 10+ mins to set up our table which should have been ready for us considering we had a reservation. Already annoyed with us, our waitress put us out on the rooftop in the direct sunlight on a 95 degree weather day. We politely asked her if we can move to one of the lounge areas out of the sun and she completely disregarded us and went back inside. Since the restaurant was empty, we split our group into 3 smaller groups and sat in the shade until we could ask our waitress if it's okay since she was no where to be found. Our waitress came back 20 mins later slamming our waters down on our tables very irritated that we moved seats. Then as we were looking over the menu she was throwing and dragging the tables and chairs back since we decided to not sit at the high tops in the sun. After she made a rude comment under her breath we decided to get up and leave. 10/10 do NOT recommend this place. The staff was very very rude considering we were the only people in the place especially considering it was 4PM!!!!!!!!! read more

I made a reservation for a night the restaurant was apparently closed for maintenance! There was no indication online saying we could not make a reservation due to maintenance, there was nothing on the outside of hotel saying restaurant closed, and no sign on the elevator saying it's closed. We went to the rooftop and then realized it was closed, went downstairs for the receptionist to say so sorry come back tomorrow. We waisted $12 parking to drive somewhere else and pay for parking again. Reviews on this place were VERY mixed and we wanted to give it a chance, so much for that! UP, a rooftop lounge is located at the top of the Fairfield Inn in the Gulch. The Nashville city skyline is on display and makes for a breathtaking view. On a warm night this venue is ideal for either a date night or with a couple friends to come to mingle and to sip on a signature cocktail ($13) or wine ($7-12). Don't let it deter you that it is a hotel bar as it is a cool scene and not just for people visiting the hotel. As you enter the hotel use the furthest elevator away from the entrance and it will take you straight to the 8th floor. There are several tables (my only beef with this place is that the chairs are not comfortable) situated for prime sunset viewing. Service has been excellent each time I've been, and the most recent time our server kept bringing us napkins and refilling my water. I've been here a couple different times both on a weeknight and a weekend and it's been equally as packed. I have ordered the Bee's Knees which is a delightful and light drink (gin, lemon, sage, ginger and a honey syrup). I've also gotten a Moscow mule (vodka, ginger beer, lime) which was slightly sweet and not too tart. I have not tried the food but they do have small plates like fries with dipping sauce and tacos. Street parking is available on 9th street and there is also a pay lot off of this same street. It's a brief walk across the street to the lobby of the Fairfield Inn. This is definitely a hidden gem in the Gulch. It was in what I, as someone not from Nashville, would call the ghetto of the Gulch. The Gulch feels a bit seedier as you approach the Marriott. However, this is a great place to come to for a light dinner and/ or for a cocktail. We brought a group of 4 people to check out the new space and had a very nice experience. The biggest downside was an overly miked singer whose volume was too loud for such a small space. There weren't any actual dining tables but more of a lounge atmosphere and we were able to snag a small table with 4 easy chairs. We ordered some cocktails; I had a gin concoction and my BF had a bourbon sour. They were both very good and they had a nice wine list too with a variety of wine options at different prices. Let's just say that we ordered a lot of food. Some of the plates were pretty large and others were smaller but all of them were interesting. Some of the table favorites were the cheese and meat plate, the pork belly, vegetable dish, and I loved the mussels. It was all very good, and had a French meets Southern flair. The head chef came around to ask how we were liking everything and that was a nice touch to the experience. The real gem of this place is the outdoor patio with fantastic views of the Nashville skyline. Dropped by UP back in August during our first visit to Nashville, and the spot is kind of secluded but near a hot chicken spot Party Fowl (we loved it!). Didn't wait at all, but service was unfortunately mediocre and extremely slow even though it wasn't that busy. We ordered some drinks, but got tired of the wait (25-30 minutes with nothing?) and walked out. I was blown away by this bar! The ambiance is stunning and the views of the city are phenomenal!! The chef came out to personally thank us for our service and after speaking to him for a few minutes... he told us about his secret menu! He whipped up these bad ass wings. Drinks are pricey at $15 a pop. I wouldn't complain about this if the prices were supposed to be justified by the view, but I felt both view and product weren't enough for the hiked up priced. Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet at one of the coolest bars you'll ever visit. About a year ago, a friend told me to come meet her on top of the Fairfield Inn in the Gulch for a meeting, and I thought OK... this will be boring. Couldn't have been further from the truth. I have held not one, but two events here... and both were outstanding. Everyone from the valet outside (free when visiting up) to the bartenders, the event staff, and even the folks working the desk I just randomly met were great. People come here for the view. And wow, it's awesome. Up is a bar with an indoor loungey-vibe that's awesome, and if the weather is cooperating and you want to head outside, it is the place to be seen. A great skyline, comfy chairs mixed with hightop stools and semi-private cabana type areas... what more could you want? There's also a meeting room that has great views out its windows that means pretty much whatever event you are wanting to hold there... they can do it. Seems like from the reviews there are a few folks with some minor complaints here and there, but speaking as the person who has had 100+ people there twice, two thumbs up. Beautiful little rooftop lounge in the Gulch area at an unassuming 3.5ish star hotel. Come at sunset! The vibes up here are so cozy, especially around the mini tabletop fires, with blankets to keep you warm in case it gets a tad chilly. The drinks aren't cheap, but aren't outrageous either. I am not huge into drinking but I think my friends thought they were just okay. We had just eaten so we skipped out on food, but they had some options that sounded pretty decent. Great view of the Nashville skyline from here, the 8th floor rooftop bar on top of the Fairfield Inn & Suites. It's in the Gulch part of downtown, so not quite an easy go from the major downtown hotels. But there's alot over here in this area, so well worth a visit. I just had a beer and watched the sun play against the glass until it set. No great sunset though, because downtown is to the East. read more

This rooftop lounge was the highlight of my trip to Nashville! I loved that it was a pretty "low key" place to be, yet still made you feel like you were out for a night on the town. I came here on a Thursday night so it wasn't crowded. Staff was extremely friendly. One Hot Mess!! In a town that has an amazing nightlife scene this place needs help! The view is awesome but the service stinks! Walked in at 6pm on a Saturday evening for a drink or two before heading out downtown Nashville. Wait for outside seating was 25 mins(or so we were told) so we opted to sit inside. No Big Deal because the view is still great. Waited for about 5 mins watching the 3 bartenders and 5 waitresses at the bar joking around and cutting up. Waited a few more mins and then asked one of the servers if we could order some drinks. To which she walked back to the bar, cut up some more and the returned to take our order. Drinks were okay but it took quite a while to get them. We had allotted ourselves 2 hours to have a few drinks before heading out and only ended up having one. Really enjoyed this place. Don't be fooled by the fact that it is on the top of a medium priced hotel. I was reluctant because of that. I was wrong! Here, its about the view and the drinks.
