I can't judge the lunch here but the breakfast is great! Not only is it delicious, it's affordable, too! This is a small and cozy little place downtown and definitely not a good place for groups. They have a few booths and a few tables and a small place to sit and wait for a seat. They also have outdoor seating during the warmer months. My favorite thing about the restaurant besides the great service is that most of the food is homemade. The toast and beans for example. The prices are amazingly affordable and everyone there is friendly. I was able to bring in my own Nutella and order bananas on the side for my pancake there, too. I highly recommend them for a very filling breakfast with great coffee. I'm looking forward to trying the lunch! read more

If you're looking for a no frills diner feel then the Post has you covered. I got the meat pie with eggs and a side of homemade corned beef hash. Surprisingly the only thing that I didn't love was the hash, as it carried over an aftertaste from the blacktop. If you haven't been here yet, you absolutely need to (especially if it's a nice day out)! Everything we had here was not only delicious but presented beautifully as well. I had a benny with home fries and my partner had pancakes; we also shared a side of biscuits and gravy (which was to DIE for). The side of home fries I received was honestly way better than any of the ones I've had recently. Usually they're either undercooked and under seasoned OR perfectly cooked and bland. These were the best of both worlds: very tender and crunchy and perfectly seasoned! The outdoor seating was very nice and our service was fantastic! Post is a breakfast-available-all day type of diner. It's pretty simple setup with a big menu. There is something for everyone. The wife and daughter ordered breakfast items for lunch. I ordered a Black and Blue Burger. My burger was pretty good. Nice beef patty topped with lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, and blue cheese dressing. It is served with French fries. Overall food and the service was good. The restaurant was full, but for this style of diner our order took an extraordinarily long time to fulfill. I ordered to go and got my panwich with an over-easy egg, swiss cheese, and home fries. The pancakes are a little bit bigger than the size of a biscuit and come with maple syrup. It wasn't quite a sandwich, but the pancakes were as expected. It was a good portion size that I was able to finish everything without feeling overstuffed. Start off with the food was ok. My omelet was good but others did not like their meals. We got there and were told we couldn't sit at one table on the patio because it was closed and moved us over one. Another party sat at the table that was reported closed about 10 minutes later. They were attended to almost immediately for order and drinks. We ended up getting attention about 10 minutes after they ordered. It then took about 45 minutes for the food to come out. That other table got theirs 20 minutes before us. Our server was ghost protocol almost the entire time. If this were dinner fine dining, the prep time would be fine, but this is a diner feel. We were only in town for the night and found this breakfast spot. They said it was a half hour wait so we walked a bit around town and then sat on the benches out front. It was very busy but everyone was friendly. I think they just didn't have enough staff because it took a while to get our drinks and the waitress had forgotten what we ordered. I stopped for breakfast at The Post Downtown, which is the sister restaurant of Newell Post in Penacook. I'm glad to see a full service breakfast and lunch option in Downtown Concord. I've enjoyed their homemade hash and fried seafood at their other location. I walked in here around 7am on a weekday morning and sat myself in a booth close to the counter area with open kitchen/grill area. I was given a menu to review. It took a few moments for the waitress to take my order and return with my water, who was also serving customers sitting up at the counter. I ordered the Toutiere Meat  Pie ($10.79 plus tax) with 2 eggs (scrambled), home fries and whole grain toast. The food came out nice and fresh in under 10 minutes. The minimal ice in the water cup melted quickly, it was just water only quickly. The portion of food was a good amount with Toutiere Meat Pie slice (ground pork & potato in a flaky crust), soft fluffy scrambled eggs, deep fried fresh cut potatoes, and thick slices of whole grain toast (homemade bread) buttered. There were Smuckers preserves packets on the table. I finished my food up and was given my check promptly. Overall, the food here was pretty good and the service was adequate during a less busy time, an early weekday morning. I was able to park in front of The Post for free too! Found myself in Concord, NH early On a summer, Sunday morning. The Post was recommended as one of the main breakfast places to check out downtown. Well, my party was looking for breakfast and we chose here. The first good thing was that it was summer, and there were outdoor tables! More good: the menu is expansive for breakfast (on Sundays important to know that they ONLY serve breakfast), and there are some quality dishes. In fact, they offer some classic French Canadian dishes which were great: poutine, tortiere. The tortiere pie was so good! Lots of clove and nutmeg inside, but very good. AND, the hands down BEST dish was the homemade corned beef hash! Everything else was pretty standard. So why the three stars. Drawbacks: it was Sunday, and seemingly their operations were just OFF. The hostess just seemed confused as to where to sit us (I don't understand why) and finally our party asked "can we just sit outside" - she said , "oh yeah, that's fine". Once outside, it took at least 10 minutes for anyone to check on us. FINALLY, the older waitress asked the younger, "has anyone checked on them yet". Since I overheard, I motioned my head "no". Once our order was taken, it's literally took 40 minutes for our food to come out. Do the math. From the moment we arrived for breakfast, it took 50 minutes to eat. Waiting this long for food in a not too packed place, the food was judged by the wait. And to wait 50 minutes, it was just breakfast. For example, Helen's in Concord, MA I would wait 50 minutes for.... not this place ... no matter how good the corned beef hash was. Also, many dishes homemade, but they need to change the recipes. Came in on a Sunday. We were seated in the middle by the door. My friend was bumped several times and the draft from the door was unreal. Waitress even commented it was the worst table. Other open booths. Ordered coffee , chocolate milk and water. Took over 15 min to get coffee. Meanwhile 10 min in the table next to us was seated . Different waitress took drink order and brought it right over. Didn't get my coffee until I asked that waitress if she minded bringing me a cup. Our waitress came over 3 min later with coffee and chocolate milk (which was milk with one splash of chocolate). Started drinking coffee just to see a long hair entwined In it. Had to flag host down to get a replacement. Also never refilled coffee. Had to ask while other waitress filled her customers. Took another 10 min to get water. Friend ordered double meat breakfast wrap . Got the quesadilla instead. Sausage gravy biscuits were good. Definitely a long experience, but dependent on which waitress you end up with. The steak bomb was amazing and the waitresses were really nice! The location is right at the heart of Concord so it was a wonderful place to take a breather after walking around town all day. They choose not to accommodate allergies at all to any degree. We could not even order a side of eggs for breakfast. Their reason was that they were too busy which on Sunday afternoon seems somewhat reasonable except there were multiple empty tables around us. This was the WORST breakfast I have ever had. We were shopping downtown and decided to try this location. The original location has never disappointed. We ordered omelets, nothing grand. I had a grilled enlglish muffin, so dry and hard. My sister had a homemade biscuit, like a dry puck. We couldn't even eat the "homefries" because of the extensive seasoning and they were not fresh as described. We left the food as is. The only good thing was the staff. Our waitress was amazing. We went here last Saturday for brunch around noon time. I had the Benedict Omelet, which was made of 3 eggs, broccoli, ham, cheese and hollandaise sauce. It was delicious. We sat outside which was nice because we had our dog with us. The service outside was a bit rocky. But we managed to get everything we needed eventually in good time. We had to ask for more coffee, more utensils, etc. My daughter's meal came out cold- so we had to ask to have it heated up. All and all it was a good experience. read more

There are few restaurants in downtown Concord that serve a full breakfast. This was our second visit to The Post, sister to Newell Post on Fischerville Road. Second not because I liked it the first time, but because I like to give a place another chance. Mistake. Too salty hash, over easy eggs done over medium almost hard like rubber. Server was very pleasant, but kitchen was slow (guess they needed more time to ruin the eggs). First time here I ordered the "Maryland Crab Cake" breakfast. We went this morning for fathers day, walked in and the restaurant was half full. Stood awkwardly in the doorway waiting to see if your supposed to seat yourself or be seated?!
