A great local bookstore and cafe. Came on a Sunday right after opening and it was nice and warm (in a chilly day) a few people here which made for a really nice breakfast where I could read some books and drink tea. No downsides to this great shop. They had great music (soft) playing in the background and had great seating options lining the windows (lots of light and great for people watching) and At least ten tables for outdoor seating Highly recommend getting anything with the house made biscuits. I got to breakfast sandwich with bacon and it was overflowing with egg (yum)

This place is super cute and hip. I love the books all around the area. To me the book choices weren't very interesting. I did find a really cute cookbook, but not a lot of books that are out on the shelves. So if you are looking for a book that is not very popular, definitely a good spot for you! I love the way that they serve their food instead of giving you a number they give you a person with some facts on the back. The service is really great they'll help you pick out something. That's just right for you! The only reason why I didn't give them five stars is because I don't think they have the best coffee, very water down very weak super sugary. However, the food is delicious!

Burrito was delicious. Cheesy, fluffy eggs, well-seasoned, super warm, potatoes cooked to perfection. Everything went well together, especially that SAUCE - made the burrito come together. Customer service was great and the food came out quick! I also ordered an oat milk latte, and although I don't drink coffee, it was quite pleasant. I'd definitely come here again :)

Really cute little book shop and cafe! It's a quiet spot to read or work. Not to mention the food and drinks are great.

What a gem! My friend hyped up Potter's House so much and let me say, it did not disappoint! The vegan breakfast bowl was so tasty & the iced vanilla latte was just how I like it with the perfect amount of sweetness. Confession, this was my first time ever trying a biscuit and wow... it was so buttery and flaky. The book shelves-cafe aesthetic is super cute and makes for a great study spot. And I love the mission and concept of the organization!

10/10 for the location and large space they have inside. Adam's Morgan is a prime neighborhood for hanging out which is why even though I live in NoMa, I prefer taking "bus 90" and get some work done here at Potter's House. Easily accessible! 10/10 customer service. Special thanks to Kenneth who allowed me to borrow his personal iPhone battery charger. Employees are friendly and professional at the same time. 4/10 for working hours. Today on Wednesday they closed their doors at 2:30p which is slightly early in my opinion. I believe extending their working hours could attract more customers for them. A fact that may and may not convince the business owner to altering working hours: when I left the coffee shop at 2:30p today on Wednesday, there were 5 tables occupied by customers which means there was still a demand. Other than working hours, this shop is great! Overall, good location, good customer service, but there is a little room for improvement with the time they close. Thanks a lot Potter's House!

During COVID-19, it's so nice to see my favorite coffee shop and bookstore back open. Modified hours Wed-Sun,9-2pm. You can order online and have contactless pickup! All I have to say is chocolate crossaints !

I'm so sad it took me so long to visit Potter's House! I think the main reason I love it... Pay it Forward! They embody that culture as a non-profit organization. You can pay it Forward with $6 and that pay for two meals! On top of that- coffee, books, food! Plus outdoor and indoor seating! Yes! And the staff! Amazing! I can't wait to go back and try the delicious sounding food options

Love what Potter's House does for the less fortunate and for book lovers as well! We came just to get pastries and coffee and we ordered the Pineapple and Goat Cheese Scone which was delicious and their Breakfast Burrito. The breakfast burrito lacked flavor and tasted pretty plain, I don't think I would get this again. Just my thoughts though! Love the ambiance and vibe, great cafe!

Half eaten chocolate croissant, banana loaf, and chai. Iced coffee and berry loaf in the back.

I was surprised to find a "Grumpy cat" stuffed animal with a Georgetown tshirt on, as well as Boo, cutest dog in the world in similar attire. The books/textbooks are upstairs, clothing and computers are downstairs. They have numerous employees wandering the store asking if you need any help. I asked one for a medium sweatshirt size and she promptly went to the back and retrieved the right fit for me. They also have a great selection of birthday cards, snacks, baby accessories, and general school supplies. However, in terms of the amount of swag - there's plenty to go around and there's a lot of variety. In terms of books, well it's a student bookstore. You can get plenty of academic related items here and other stuff too if you're in a pinch for say, a bookbag or seriously need some stationary. However, what I like about this shop is the decent variety of clothing options and the fact a lot of noted name brands like Nike, Under Armor and other companies all offer their own line of GU apparel and you can find it all here in one place. Oh btw ... Hoya Saxa!

We both love to read and love bookshops. I love big bookshops, little bookshops, romance bookshops... Lost City Books was a wonderful surprise and immediately became one of my favorite bookshops in DC. Why? It isn't huge, but it makes such good use of its space that I found it to be one of the best stocked independent bookstores I've visited in a long while. I always try to support local independent bookstores when I can, and some of them are tiny (if your neighborhood bookstore is one of the tiny ones, remember they'll probably place orders for you if you want/need something they don't have in stock). But - at the risk of sounding silly - we got lost in time at Lost City Books. We meant to just pop in and quickly pick something to take home. But we wandered through their fiction section and staff picks, pointing out books to each other we loved or have been meaning to read and all of a sudden a half hour had passed and we only really explored one tiny section of the shop. We walked out with four books between us, too. The customer service was friendly to boot. Just a great independent bookshop and another reason to love Adams Morgan.
