Last week, Brenda and Todd each provided such prompt and competent service they deserve special recognition. I spoke to Brenda mid-afternoon on Thursday, May 12, describing a problem with our riding lawn mower (worked perfectly all of last season and started easily the day before I called but when I tried to release the brake, the engine would die).  I suspected the interlock requiring the brake to be set. Not only did Brenda accurately relay to Todd my description (which became obvious when speaking with Todd the next day}, she said she could have the unit picked up the next day, Friday May 13.  Based on prior experience of how busy businesses like Diuble's are in the spring, I had expected a couple weeks delay just for you to pick it up. She also said she would ask the technician to at least quickly check the unit in an attempt to identify the problem. We did not hear or see the truck and trailer arrive.  The first thing we heard was a loud backfire from the unit.  By the time I could greet Todd, he had diagnosed and repaired the problem which was no mean feat.  A splice of wires I had made years ago to bypass the interlock otherwise requiring someone to be on the seat to engage the blades  or transmission had loosened enough to not make contact.   However, the splice was concealed by tape which therefore appeared perfectly fine. But "Detective Todd" was not deceived by appearances and quickly found the problem. So instead of needing to retain a lawn service for a month (which I expected to be the case when the problem occurred},  I mowed our lawn later Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after first speaking to Brenda !!!!!!!!! Nearly 1 month later, they still hadn't been back to fix. I had checked in a couple times for an update and the guy that answers always seems bothered and says there's nothing they can do since they can only order from ONE place. so. I ordered the parts off Amazon, they came to replace and the guy was just as uncomfortable as the first time. this time he implied the parts may never have even been ordered. any ways, he got the dryer running but now it makes this God awful screeching. There are some projects that are larger, which require professionals. But dammit, some things I should be able to do myself, even if I lack the knowledge or the tools. But going to the big box home stores fills me with a sense of dread. They are overwhelmingly large, it's hard to find anyone who can help you, and the whole experience leaves me drained, dizzy, and nauseated. So I had what I considered a fairly clever idea. Why don't I just call the small, local, neighborhood hardware store, and see if they can help me solve my minor home repair and maintenance challenges? I'll confess that I called another store first before reaching out to Jack's. But it was at Jack's where I found the help, patience, and expertise that I so desperately needed! Project number one was removing the gunk from between brick pavers on my patio, filling them with silicone sand, and other spring yard maintenance. I had no tools beyond the phone in my hand. But Dan, on the other end of the line, walked me through the tools and equipment I would need. He told me the prices, took my order and payment over the phone, and had everything ready for a semi-contactless pick up! That went so well, I returned for project number two, replacing the window well covers that had cracked. Now I am the proud owner of my very first ratchet set! At least, I think that's what it was called. I thought I was going to need some power tool to do the job, and was prepared to drop a lot of money, but I walked out with a bill of about $30... and a Twinkie. Don't judge. It was for my daughter. Needless to say, I have no intention of ever setting foot again in one of those big box home stores. I have Jack's, and it's fantastic!

Was very happy when they purchased Rowell's and brought quality products and service to Jackson. Two months ago I bought a new Sebo which was a great vac but only used it 3 times before new carpet was installed. Despite bringing home carpet samples, we found to our shock the installed carpet was WAY thicker than what we thought we were getting. So the Sebo model we just bought was not going to cut it. Rowell's allowed a trade in for a different Sebo that does work without any hassle and Rex was thorough in his guidance. What a relief! This kind of service does not exist at the big box stores. You might think you are paying more for your vac but remember they service what they sell and will keep it running for many years which is real value.

I've had a bunch of tree work done over the years, and what I have come to learn is there are a lot…read moreof different ways to tackle the problem of removing trees and branches. My experience has ranged from a single guy with ropes and a chainsaw, to a dozen men with heavy equipment deployed by a general-like figure barking orders and managing the job. The one redeeming part of my experience with The Lumberjacks was that they were able to get my large dead tree removed relatively quickly in the midst of a global pandemic. Originally it was going to take several weeks for them to arrive. But when I asked if there was any way to expedite the process, I was told "yes" if I was willing to pay a rush charge of $50. On a job that was going to cost over a grand, that was the bargain of the decade. The Lumberjacks brought a three person crew along with a lift that looked a little bit like a tank. We walked around the property to talk about other work I wanted done beyond the tree removal, and was quoted a price on the spot. I agreed, and the crew spent the rest of the day cutting wood. After they were done, I asked to be walked around to inspect the work. What I didn't see at the time was the damage that was caused to my property. I spoke to someone at my insurance company. They told me to call the tree trimmers. After calling The Lumberjacks to discuss the matter, I was unceremoniously directed to some fine print on the bottom of the estimate that said the company was not responsible for damages, or some such. Well, that just sucks. Now, by solving the problem of the dead tree, I have another problem to solve. And we're still in the midst of a global pandemic, which just makes everything harder. This was not the kind of experience that would encourage me to call The Lumberjacks again if I need additional tree work, nor would it give me the confidence to recommend them to others. I'm sure they work on lots of houses without doing damage. I'm sure mine was a rare fluke. And ultimately, it's less about the damage itself than it was about how this unfortunate situation was handled.

I thought the installer was going to contact the store about that, but I guess not. 4 days later I called to make the final payment, and the store was not aware of the wrong material being installed. If the right fabric would of been installed, they would of got a 5 star rating. So if you order an awning......make sure the right color choice is going to be installed.
