Checked out The Press while looking for something outside of the more crowded parts of town and I'm so glad we did! I had the steak salad and my companions had the buffalo chicken sandwich, the prime rib sandwich, and a mahi sandwich that was a special not on the regular menu, each sandwich was served with a side. When the food arrived, the portions were generous. The prime rib sandwich in particular could easily feed two people. To say that everyone enjoyed their food would be an understatement. I don't think my husband left a single crumb on his plate! The steak on my salad was tasty, very tender, and complimented the grilled vegetables and blue cheese crumbles very nicely. My friends with sandwiches raved about the bread. I'm low-carbing it these days so I didn't try it but it looked wonderful. I also didn't try my husband's bread pudding but he didn't leave any of that behind, either. There were choices for so many dietary needs and preferences. Vegetarian, low carb, low fat, etc. They had an extensive beer list and wines as well. Had the meatloaf dinner special last night. It was very good, but seemed a bit expensive. Was my fault for not asking the price of the special before I ordered. $26.95 seems a bit much for meatloaf!! Ford's Garage is 3 miles away, and for $16.50 you can get the same amount of meatloaf, and 2 sides. Great server. Super dessert (chocolate cake with orange glaze)!! Great place for burgers! Update: 11/15/18 we've been back again and my chicken sandwich was fantastic. I would def recommend them. Staff was very polite also. I went their when they first opened and I wasn't very impressed but since then they seem to have improved a lot. I've heard a lot of really good things about them. I'm excited to try then again. This place has hands down some of the tastiest food in the area. They do a great job providing plenty of options on the menu and even have daily specials that ALWAYS sound amazing! Because this is close to where I work, I come here pretty frequently. There is really no other competition on State Road 16 for a local restaurant with delicious food. They also have beer, wine, and sake mixed drinks (which also makes it the perfect stop after work!) I love the ginger calamari appetizer--it's unique, full of flavor, and always hot and delicious. The Asian pork skewers are another favorite. The meat is so tender and the sauce is divine. The flatbreads that they have are my favorite thing to order. They are each loaded with flavor and toppings--pro tip: order one and have your significant other order another then share to try more than one flatbread! They are all so good! Overall, I would recommend The Press to anyone looking for a nice meal full of flavor. I enjoyed this little bar and grill! Claiming the best burger in St Augustine I just had to try it out. Quite the pleasant surprise when I sit down and see fresh rolls come out on bread racks. I judge burgers starting with e roll and these things were perfection. Fresh ingredients to include the sliced jalapeños (not pickled) really showed me a dedication to quality execution. I've been by The Press for lunch twice in the past couple months, and I'm still on the fence about it as a burger place for me. On my first visit, I stopped in based on the outstanding Yelp reviews. The restaurant is a bit small, and when busy, the bar is available for solo diners. Without digging into the menu, I asked the waitress if they had a signature dish. She told me that would be the Conquistador, which is a pretty fitting name for a sandwich in St Augustine. So I ordered that. When it arrived, I felt like somehow space-time had warped, and I was suddenly in a "Man vs. Food" episode. I was so shocked, I forgot to take a picture of this monstrous sandwich, a burger with datil peppers mixed in, with bacon, chorizo, onion straws (kinda like onion rings) and other items on top. And fries. There's absolutely no denying the flavor packed in the sandwich, no denying you need a fork and knife while trying to eat this thing, and no denying the silent apology you offer your doctor while you're chewing. This was my fault for not checking the menu. Fries are completely unnecessary with the Conquistador, and honestly, came across as not so good when directly compared to the onion straws in the sandwich. Today I went back and actually looked at the menu, and went for the Black and Blue. Remembering my experience with the regular fries, I opted for the sweet potato fries. This particular burger comes with blue cheese crumbles and a splash of buffalo sauce. It arrived cooked as ordered, and tasted just fine. The sweet potato fries were passable, but definitely not worth the $2 upcharge to me. But I'm still not getting the world rocking burger experience like the other reviewers are getting. I'm not sure why... maybe it tastes better with a beer? Overall... decent burgers, fries seem average at best, and a bit pricey for a burger that hasn't rocked my world yet. Given their proximity, I'll still randomly visit, but I'm not sure I'll be a regular here yet. Based on reviews, the gingered calamari will probably be what I would try next. read more

Every time we stop over in St. Augustine we make a special trip to this restaurant. I had the best Swiss Mushroom Burger I've ever had. Mushrooms sautéed in wine sauce and oozing with cheese. My husband loved the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. Homemade rolls were the best. We had to try the White Chocolate Bread Pudding and it was fabulous. Somebody in that kitchen knows how to cook! This could be just another sports bar with beer, burgers and pizza. It has all those things but don't stop there. A very interesting menu with creative options. There's a flatbread with steak, spinach, caramelized onions, and cheese. But not just mozzarella or Parmesan cheese, but small slices of manchego. Makes it special. My wife had one of the daily specials: blackened shrimp with rice and sauce, served over a hunk of cornbread. Unusual but it worked. My burger was very good. Medium rare, as requested. The bun (an underappreciated part of a good burger) was particularly tasty. Others have mentioned the bread pudding. Fantastic! Save room! Service was quick and very friendly. We were in the area less than three days and ate there twice. read more

I was brought some take-out from The Press last night and my angus burger (cooked perfectly medium, as requested) was delicious. I got the burger plain, because I wanted to see if it would hold up on its own, and I can honestly say it doesn't need anymore than the homemade bun, lettuce, and tomato it comes with. It's a half-pound burger, so it's hearty, and it comes with one side for which I chose French fries. The fries were a little thicker but still crispy, which can be a hard thing to accomplish (especially when the fries made the trip in a take-out container). All of that for only $9 was definitely a steal. I hear they have a solid beer list and some TVs, so I think I'll need to dine in next time to catch a game of some kind and try something else on the menu. read more

Went for dinner yesterday. Access is easy from almost anywhere, and parking is of zero concern as there is plenty of it. The atmosphere is pretty cozy. I had the Blackened Pasta which was fantastic It was super creamy and yummy, the spiral macaroni was fantastic. The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. Wifey had the shrimp Po boy and super satisfied as well. The staff is most likely the friendliest I have ever experienced in a small family place. The only downside is it was hot and humid inside. Not sure if its due to the kitchen being open to the establishment, or lack of AC usage, but all the customers were inside wiping sweat from their brow. all being said 8/10 would go again read more

We went on Tuesday night and had fantastic food, service and a safe environment. I have a beloved conquistador and it was everything that it was built up to be. The mixture of flavors was fantastic and the burger was enormous. Cooked to perfection and served by her wonderful waiter. My wife had the lemon butter mahi and pasta and oh my goodness was it great. Server offered to replace it right away but it wasn't a big deal. Everything was very fresh. Only thing we got a laugh from was they used Chinet plates and plastic-ware.
