The prices here are on the higher end ($27 for a salad with protein), but at least you're getting a good quality meal. I got the cali salad with added chicken, my husband got an old pro burger, and both my kids got a kids mac n cheese. We also split an order of the cheddar biscuits for the table. The biscuits were warm, cheesy, and soft. It came with some creamy butter and house made pickles on the side. The burger was cooked perfectly and was a nice ratio of a thick, juicy patty with the other ingredients to really bring out the flavor of the overall meal. The mac n cheese was made with cavatappi pasta with crispy breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. The cheese that they used tasted a bit like gorgonzola which has a stronger flavor. I rarely write negative reviews, but after two World Cup experiences at The Pro, I feel compelled to share this. The Pro calls itself a sports bar, but in my experience it was one of the least sports-focused sports bars I've ever been to. The first time we went was for the Mexico vs. South Korea World Cup match. Most of the crowd was understandably supporting Mexico, but there were also several tables of Asian fans there specifically to support Korea. Once the second half started, the bar switched the commentary entirely to Spanish. At that moment, it felt like the bar simply decided one group of fans mattered more than another. We were all paying customers, but apparently only some fans counted. I was disappointed, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back two days later for Japan vs. Tunisia. That turned out to be an even worse experience. There was a private event happening that night. Even after the World Cup match started, the bar continued blasting dance music instead of turning on the game commentary. When we asked about it, the owner told us directly that the private event had paid thousands of dollars, so they could not switch to the game audio. Think about that for a second. This is supposedly a sports bar during the World Cup, and customers who came specifically to watch the match were told that the game was less important than another group's event because they spent more money. By that point, we had already ordered food and drinks. Our options were to sit there watching a World Cup game with no commentary while dance music played over everything, or leave after paying for food and drinks we barely had time to enjoy. We chose to leave. Before leaving, I gave a subtle signal to a nearby table of Japanese fans. They immediately understood what was going on and left shortly after as well. They looked just as disappointed as we were. Imagine showing up to support your country's World Cup match at a "sports bar" and being told the soundtrack of the evening is a private party playlist. What frustrated me most wasn't the Spanish commentary or the private event itself. It was the feeling that some customers were treated as second-class customers. If you're going to market yourself as a sports bar, fans should not have to wonder whether they'll be treated equally depending on which team they support or how much money another group is spending that night. We left and went to a real sports bar. The difference was night and day. The game was the focus. The commentary was on. Fans were engaged. The atmosphere was welcoming. Japan ended up winning 4-0, and we had a great time watching it there. I've watched sports all over the Bay Area and have never had an experience like this. Sports are supposed to bring people together. The atmosphere should be open, inclusive, and equal for all fans. Unfortunately, that was not the feeling I got at The Pro. I won't be returning, and I certainly won't be recommending it to friends looking for a place to watch major sporting events. If you're planning to watch an important game here, ask yourself one question first: will you be treated the same as the customers the bar considers a higher priority? Those are the two World Cup experiences I had at The Pro. I hope this helps others make an informed decision. More details: We still paid the full bill despite barely having the chance to enjoy the food and drinks we ordered. We left shortly after kickoff, missed the first goal of the match while relocating to another sports bar, and received absolutely nothing in return--not even an attempt to acknowledge the inconvenience. The message seemed clear: once our payment was collected, whether we actually got the experience we came for no longer mattered. My friends and I stopped by earlier this week after a workout and we had a great experience! I grew up going to the Old Pro, so I'm happy it's back in this new, more elevated way. I really like that they use the QR code ordering system, as it makes it easy to have separate tabs when you dine with a group. I ordered a salad, one friend ordered wings, and the other ordered the burger. We also had a margarita, a beer, and a glass of wine, and we all really enjoyed everything! The fitout post-renovation is seriously nice. Great viewing angles to the screens, nice lighting, comfortable seating. I ordered a burger, and it was quite tasty (good sauce, good vegetables), although the surcharge for adding a second patty was pretty extreme. Chips were very nicely done too. read more

I grew up in Palo Alto, and the Old Pro was always a constant for me. From family dinners to high school reunions to countless afternoons watching games. It holds a lot of memories. The new Pro is nice. The remodel is well done and the space feels fresh and updated. I do miss the old U-shaped bar where you could see and chat with people across from you. But overall they did a really nice job. We only had drinks this visit, so I can't speak to the food yet. The cocktails are definitely on the pricey side, but they're creative and fun. My friend ordered a cosmo that came with a bubble of citrus smoke on top, which was a fun touch. I had a dirty Shirley (with three cherries, appreciated!), and we finished with espresso martinis topped with gold flakes. The drinks were good, just be prepared for the $$$. One thing to note: from 3-5pm they only serve a very limited menu. With sports on all day, it would be nice to be able to order full menu items during that window. Hopefully that's temporary, but it's worth knowing if you're hoping for a full meal mid-afternoon. We'll definitely be back to try the food. read more

I had such a great time here! It resembled The Old Pro, but felt much more clean, renovated, and spacious. The bull is even still there, but he's "retired" (not rideable anymore). You can order samples of beers and ciders, and you can easily modify menu items to fit your dietary restriction. I loved the battered fries. The new Pro is solid! 4 Stars +! Just objectively it's a solid upscale sports bar perfect for downtown PA. It's beautiful inside, with a friendly staff. The Poutine is among the best I've ever had. I've been to every incarnation of the Old Pro going back to the one in that crazy hangar on El Camino. Thjbgs have come a long way. The folks from Zola took over and for years it was rumored to open. Well it's now open just in time for Super Bowl madness. I think it's been around for a week. But after a meeting we walked by and dropped in. Always down for a good burger and a cocktail. So much to love here! I was an old Pro fan back when it was around and oh boy! They transformed the interior in a way that pays homage to the OP and turns a page to what it is now. I saw sports fans, former Stanford alums, locals, families, it was nice to see! We did not eat but the cocktails were on the higher scale $ yet very tasty! My only minus here is - beer pricing - what in the world!? $12 bones for a draft that costs them a couple bucks to pour - mmm, nah gonna buy a beer & that sucks as it's the Pro! In my opinion a pricey brew is $9, a great price is $7, and an acceptable price based is around $8. They have one Old Pro beer for $6 and you bet I had that! I had a couple cocktails and that's where this place shines! The Sazerac, Espresso Martini and Old Fashioned are exquisite and worth it based on both taste and presentation. They did a really nice job renovating the Old Pro but it's pretty unclear what this place is now. Its supposed to be the remaking of a legendary college bar, but its in no way shape or form a college bar. High prices and fancy menu items, no beers that college kids would order. There is Stanford memorabilia all over but do people actually watch Stanford games there? The food is excellent which is what the Old Pro was missing. I think they went a little overboard on the fancy LA vibe, I wouldn't describe the ambience as cozy or welcoming. Also needs more high top seating like the Old Pro had. Giving 4 stars because I think they've done a lot right with the food, TV's, podcast studio, location still amazing but theres definitely a bit of an identity crisis here. read more

Sausage flatbread was a favorite. Will definitely go back to try a few more things. Lack of Guinness on tap is a huge miss. Non food related, the remodel is quite nice. The 5 brand new unisex bathrooms are a big plus. Several large screens. The Pro is no longer a sports bar. The food is good for bar food and the drinks are fine, but the atmosphere is more club-like, nothing like the Old Pro. We went on Sunday at 5:30pm to catch a college baseball game. Caught by surprise with a drag show taking place. Not at all an issue until the drag queens began aggressively soliciting tips and blocking views of the tv's for those not tipping. They also criticised NOLA restaurant for no longer hosting them....not sure customers need to hear their gripes while trying to take in a game and eat dinner. And I'm not sure the restaurant owner of the Pro would appreciate them tearing down another Palo Alto restaurant. Won't be back. i live down the street and was super excited to try out this spot last week! i've been really into the WNBA and specifically the Valkyries lately and so was looking forward to hopefully watching their game vs the Fever last Thursday and enjoying a drink or two and some snacks at the pro. unfortunately they were unable to have capability to show the Valkyries game and so i didn't end up staying...i was pretty disappointed! however i would absolutely love to regularly catch the Valkyries games here since i live so close! really hoping this can be remedied since i know others would also want to watch and they are having an exciting season so far!! read more

However, I was shocked to have been charged $6 for an iced tea plus an additional $3 for a refill. $9 for iced tea is obscene in my opinion and totally unnecessary. The bar taps are filled with craft beer obscurity. Beers that are unknown and unpronounceable. Very few beers available in bottles. No pitchers and no beer towers like in the former iteration of this bar. The "coaches corner" feels like an intellectual property grab rather than an homage to the legendary Bill "Coach" Campbell. It's an effort to appear like they are catering to Bill's followers when in essence Bill would never drink in a bar like this one or even set foot in a so-called fancy sports bar. The food menu resembles items found in a classy upscale restaurant not in a sports bar which this place isn't. This place even proclaims "come for the food and stay for the games". It's really a high class restaurant that happens to have televisions showing sporting events. The upstairs "member only private lounge" is exactly what Bill Campbell railed against. The culture of wealth in the Silicon Valley and the separation of classes. He was all about egalitarianism. He drank with anyone and everyone. This lounge has created a two-tier system with special food and special alcohol for the "privileged" that are allowed into the private lounge. If this is the sports bar for the 21st century as the owners proclaim I and others should go elsewhere. read more
