I came across this amazing place when gonging to the nearby VDN. I'm so glad I stopped by to check it out. All their food looks so delicious and the menu displays the macros for every item including the shakes and desserts!! The foods I have tried so far are amazing! At one point I was stopping here almost everyday after work just to grab a PB lovers or Muscle Madness protein shake. There is seating inside and outside. When you dine in it's like a regular restaurant, they bring your food to your table and actually have silverware(not the plastic utensils). The staff is always helpful and very inviting. Okay, I may be rating this place a bit harshly, but hear me out. Also, if you have gone by my reviews in the past, you know that I am pretty fair. I actually went back and forth on two or three stars; if they would let me, I would've probably met them in the middle and went with two and a half stars. First, I actually went to this place thinking I could get a good keto friendly meal, and it was my first time so I asked about the best recommendation from the gentleman at the front counter, and he set me up with the Power Salmon Bowl. I do take some responsibility for ordering in a hurry, I admit that, but if you are going to have a place called The Protein Source, you might want to expect and plan for folks coming to you wanting low carb options. Almost everything on the menu is packed with carbs; even when you get a cabbage roll as the wrap source, most of the wraps have some sort of grain or starch (quinoa, sweet potato, etc.). My bowl was mostly wasted since it had quinoa, a lot of peppers, and pineapples in it; definitely not keto. So, that's that little rant, lol. Beyond the lack of knowledge for the menu, the food was not impressive either. The salmon was actually seared beautifully... unfortunately, it was also lacking seasoning. The vegetables, again, were cooked perfectly - had great crunch - but again had almost no seasoning. I believe the chef relies on the teriyaki-style sauce for the flavor, which was only on certain parts of the dish. They give you extra teriyaki, but I couldn't go for it when trying to keep my carb count down. Atmosphere, not sure what to say here, and my first opinion may not be the restaurant's fault. Music was super loud, making it very hard to even discuss the menu with the gentleman at the counter. I only found this mildly annoying, a lot of places have loud music. What was really annoying was the obnoxious, foul mouthed group next to me, who seemed to have to yell that much louder to hear each other over the music. So I guess it was a combo of things. Decor was cool, and I liked the layout of the place overall. In truth, I usually give a place a second chance. Maybe they were having an off day in terms of the food. I'll be back to see what they are cable of... And this time, I will take it upon myself to review the menu and low carb choices.
