Some drawback because flavor somewhat bland. But remember, this is a healthy eats place and fat is flavor. So not all their fault there. Can only do so much without fat or sugar. If you're looking for a healthy alternative to the burger you were thinking of getting, this is it. And no knocks on it. Was a damn fine burger 50% less calories than double double. If I could select zero stars I would have I really wanted to like this place because I stopped by after my workout looking for a healthy, high-protein meal. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The food was mediocre at best, and my protein drink was served warm instead of cold, which was especially disappointing. The dining area wasn't clean or inviting--the furniture looked worn, dirty, and unappealing. The biggest concern, though, was watching the cook eating while preparing food. Seeing someone consume food over meals that are being made for customers was very off-putting and raised concerns about food safety and sanitation. At a minimum, it doesn't reflect good food-handling practices. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and don't plan to return. This was my first time ordering from Greens and Proteins. I've been trying to get more protein in my diet so I thought this would be the perfect place. I ordered the Thai Chicken Bowl. It had chicken, squash/zucchini, mushrooms, and peanuts, tossed in a peanut sauce over Basmati rice. It was ok. A little bland but I got the 55g of protein I wanted from it. My husband's Bulgogi Korean Steak Bowl was much better. It only had 38g of protein but had much more flavor. The beef was tender as well. He also got the Chicken Lime Soup. It had lots of vegetables in it and came with a side of basmati rice and lime. It was like a meal by itself. It was also a Bogo offer on door dash which was great because he loved the soup. Like many vegans, I support omni restaurants when they offer good plant-based options, but switching to beef tallow is a step in the wrong direction. (Avocado oil was just one example; there are other proven, more cost-effective, vegan fryer oils like rice bran or refined olive oil, that are already in use across the restaurant industry.) Fries and tofu are staple vegan choices, and using beef tallow not only cuts them out but is also just plain gross. This raises even more cross-contamination concerns since animal fat is messy and can splatter onto utensils, prep areas, and other foods. END OF UPDATE ***************** The owner Greg messaged me, "Sorry to disappoint you with this change. We changed the fryer oil only due to a concern of using processed seed oils that are very harmful. All of our menu items are cooked with integrity and concern and still are "vegan friendly". As a vegan for eight years myself, it is important to me. Only the tofu fries and French fries are cooked in tallow. It's disheartening to me to bash us and give us 1 star for a business that has offered so much to the community for 15 years. It's only 2 menu items out of 69 items. There was no one in front of me, so I expected it to be quick. Instead, I waited a little over 15 minutes just for fries. Which I find delicious. The customer service was ok. Nothing to exciting. However they were attentive to my needs. The food was mid at this location. However the stars of the show were the pancakes and the tofu fries. Tofu fries are a MUST!!! Overall I would still come back and get a healthy meal anytime. Not a single complaint. My first but surely not my last visit. I was greeted promptly upon my entrance. The lady taking my order made great suggestions and I decided on the chicken teriyaki bowl. Fairly priced it seemed like a good economical choice. Upon first bite, I noticed how piping hot the food was. I had to slow down but it tasted so good I endured and powered through. The chicken wasn't very seasoned but the teriyaki sauce made up for it. It really tasted like a healthy meal. Next time I order I may ask for additional teriyaki sauce on the side. Got the buffalo chicken vegan wrap and I didn't taste any blue cheese at all so that was a bummer. The owner reached out about this and one of the Uber eats online menus wasn't accurate as the Juhl location menu said blue cheese in the vegan wrap when in fact the vegan one doesn't have blue cheese. I would've def asked to add blue cheese had I not been under the impression it was on it bc your girl loves a stinky cheese. The buffalo sauce was overwhelming, it was almost too much sauce but tbh it's better than not enough buffalo sauce. The tofu fries were actually super good and exceeded my expectations! I didn't get the dipping sauce in the vegan version so I took my husbands sauce when he was done with his (yeah sloppy seconds womp womp) and it elevated the tofu fries for sure.
