Great little place for lunch right on the river. Staff was very friendly and service was pretty prompt. Really enjoyed my chicken sandwich with the jerk seasoning and the Cajun waffle fries were nice and crunchy. My wife thought the tacos were good but didn't like the fry/seasoning on the okra. The mock/cocktails were really good and the key lime pie was a great way to finish off lunch. Definitely a great place to stop for lunch in Washougal.

Been coming to this place for a while, and it's always really good. Their signature soup is well-seasoned and a bit spicy, which I like when a place just makes it the way they want. And they will warn you. Today, got a fish sandwich and my friend got the scallop basket. Very nicely fried on both dishes. Service is great and super friendly, as they welcome you in and check on you often. The only thing, which is not service-related, but more of an FYI, Ive come here in the past, and had to wait until all members of my party were there to be seated, which is fine, just plan on it, if still a thing, as it can get hot on the dock in summer. But always a cold glass of water is just one ask away. Can't beat the location and the view. Right in the water, and lots of boat activity to watch. Ramp can be a little steep sometime, so plan accordingly, but seems very ADA-accessible.

We found out about this place from a local at the Pendleton Milll. What a treat! We were right down on the water, sat outside, loved it!! Our waitress was a sweetheart. He had grilled Halibut fish tacos I had Pork tacos. The Halibut in his tacos was huge! Really generous portion. He loved it. I loved mine too, the combo sounded odd for a taco , Pork, ginger, etc. but it was good!! We both don't like Okra so that went uneaten. Next time I would ask for a third taco hold the okra. The hibiscus iced tea was fire! Loved it and would definitely return if in Washougal again.

Great little place. Found from another yelp review and not disappointed! The atmosphere is laid back, tons of quirky things to look at, food was good, will be back! Also if you're visiting and not from the area at all, be prepared for some amazing views of Mt Hood if you travel east from Vancouver! Great spot for pics of Mt Hood from the Puffin Cafe area as well!

Another great experience at the Puffin. Great service, great ambiance, great food. The nachos were the crowning jewel of our experience.

Loved this riverside restaurant! Servers were pleasant, there wasn't a wait, and I loved the Caribbean theme of the restaurant. Food was excellent, and the vibes were very calm and relaxing. A great experience! I especially loved the drop down treasure chest feature for the kids.

Went to a private party here last Saturday night. It was a blast!!! The food and the service was amazing. Everyone who works there is super cool. I think I was best friends with all the staff by the end of the night. I tell you if you wanna have a private party on the water this is the place to have it at. I cannot wait to go back.

Empty tables while staff refused to see us there. Due to dinner rush.

Party of six. Went there for the view drinks and food. Was told we cannot sit in the area with river view due to no tables. refused to sit us at the table that we requested with a view as they said it was reserved for eight people. The entire night that table sat empty while we're tucked away next to the entrance podium with no view. So unfortunate. The drinks were good. Which made up for the mediocre food. This has been the second time that I visited where they have declined to seat me at a requested area or table.

And their chef is talented AND personable as well. I enjoyed bantering with them, fun people!! Food was great! I had an Adams St. BLT with a side salad. The salad was not mixed greens thrown in a bowl, heck no! There was fresh mixed greens but they had company! Like cucumbers sliced bite sized which was genius. I'm stuck of having to gnaw off a huge round all the time. Roasted red peppers, shredded cheese, slices of red onion, excellent balsamic vinaigrette. Sandwich was tastyyyy! Thick slices of tomato, avocado, shredded lettuce (special!) some type of special aioli and crispy bacon. This was hearty!! Bread was dense and thick, toasted to perfection. Hubs had French dip plus bowl of clam chowder. I snagged a bite of his sammie -- tender beef, soft fresh bun and generous amount of au jus! He didn't run out! He said the clam chowder was tasty too. He orders it a lot so he would know. His pale ale was good too. (Okay, I did have a tiny sip!) Prices are reasonable on top of everything. Zero complaints from me! A sensor's world…read more Sight. Smell. Sound. Taste. Touch. Kann was an experience for all five senses, from the moment we sat down at the chef's counter. First came the sight. The colorful contrast of plates and bowls against the kitchen island immediately caught my eye, while the open-kitchen design gave us a front-row view of the chefs and kitchen staff preparing each dish. With about a dozen seats at the counter, we could watch everything unfold right in front of us, including the pastry chef's station in the kitchen. And the smell began to make its way. Even the pastry station had its own sensory signature. I could smell the toasted, almost campfire-like aroma of the charred meringue from the Baked Haiti dessert drifting past us. Sitting near the pastry corner definitely had its advantages. And then there was the sound of the crackling and roar of the live fire. The chefs moving around the kitchen and calling out dishes. The bartender shaking and stirring drinks, with the unmistakable sound of ice. Conversations from the dining room humming in the background with happy customers surrounding us. Every so often, a chef would give a dish the final okay before it made its way out. Next to the kitchen was a wall of chopped wood, a fitting visual reminder that the "behind the hearth" dishes were made with live wood. The restaurant describes itself as a Haitian live-fire restaurant that combines Haitian cuisine with ingredients of the Pacific Northwest. The food was just as vibrant in touch and taste. We started with the Akra, crispy taro root fritters served with remoulade. The outside was wonderfully crisp, while the taro gave the fritters a soft, satisfying interior and a little spicy kick. The Griyo, Kann's twice-cooked pork which is the national dish of Haiti, comes with bannann peze, avocado, and pikliz. The combination of rich pork, crisp plantain, creamy avocado, and bright, spicy pickled cabbage was fantastic. The pikliz (pickled cabbage) in particular added exactly the kind of sharp, acidic contrast that kept the richer flavors balanced. The Epis-Brined Chicken was beautifully cooked and well seasoned, served with corn, tamarind barbecue, and basil. The epis marinade gave the chicken layers of aromatic flavor and was cooked nicely with crispy skin. Then came the Ribeye...one of my favorites of the evening. The beef was rich and deeply savory, paired with ti malice, blistered tomato, and garlic confit. The tomato brought brightness while the garlic and Haitian flavors added another layer of depth. And of course, dessert. The Baked Haiti combines coconut sponge cake, Bavarian cream, Haitian-spiced pineapple, charred meringue, and basil. The smell of the toasted meringue reached us before the dessert even arrived, and the combination of warm, caramelized flavors with the tropical pineapple was a wonderful way to finish the meal. Kann also has a full cocktail program, zero-proof cocktails, wine, and beer, so there is plenty to explore beyond the food. I can absolutely see why Kann received the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in 2023. Chef Gregory Gourdet brings Haitian heritage, live-fire cooking, Pacific Northwest ingredients, and an incredible attention to sensory detail together in a way that feels complete. And for a sensor? What a playground.
