Well, we love it so much that this is our fourth time staying here. We have stayed in Blue Skies Villa, Villa Aurora, Villa del Palma, and checked into Shangri-la yesterday. Each villa is charming in its own way. The property management team gives a special welcome by setting the mood with mod sixties music playing on the surround sound speakers, providing a bottle of wine, cold bottled water and soft drinks, a fruit basket, ground coffee and pastries from their local bakery (Aspen Mills), which can I tell you, hands down is the best blueberry muffin I've ever had! Since this is our fourth time back in 9 months, Ginny (lovely property manager) had a fresh bouquet of fragrant Lilies waiting for us. The fruit basket contains two small cups of yogurt, a few small bags of nuts, banana, lemon, limes and a citrus fruit picked from one of their many citrus trees located throughout the villas. Shangri-la has a grapefruit tree. Villa del Palma has an orange tree, Villa Aurora has a grapefruit and orange tree and Blue Skies has an orange tree. Ginny is very attentive. When she found out that the cranberry loaf was my husband's favorite, she's had this waiting for us upon arrival. Each villa we chose to stay in has two bedrooms/2 baths, its own private pool and jacuzzi, two car garage, front patio with BBQ, surround sound stereo with built in speakers throughout the whole villa and each is equipped with cooking utensils/dishes, washer/dryer (detergent provided) and pool toys. Villa Aurora has a walk in spa with essential oils to help enhance the experience and Shangri-la has a third bathroom. The average nightly rate is between $325 - $395 (weekends have a higher rate). There is also a separate daily $35 utility surcharge. Not bad for everything!! I'd say that's a deal!

All of the beds are SO comfortable, our guests were super comfy and rooms/property were clean upon arrival. The host was so helpful with our entire wedding weekend and was available in case things went wrong. We had a breaker go out upstairs while all the bridal party was getting ready that was fixed within the hour. The toilets did get backed up a few times over the weekend, some were able to be fixed while others became unusable but overall we had enough for the wedding event. Just a note since the house is older, I guess this happens often there. The property fit our 100 guest wedding perfectly. We also had 40 guest stay on site and everyone fit with plenty of room. The main house is huge and the parlor room and theater are awesome! We did our ceremony in the backyard our reception down on the big deck in the backyard. We brought outside vendors for all our chairs but the host had round tables and an ice machine available for us which was amazing!! (Photos below of round tables). We also had vendors come for catering without any issues. You do need to get event insurance if you book for a wedding but that's standard practice. All in all, we had a great weekend and it was so nice having our guest stay on site with us. The host was super nice and helpful and we'd recommend booking here!

Within two months so much had changed that these other reviews i see don't even come close to the experience i had! this was one of the most beautiful venues i have worked at. The space provides a really familial vibe for the party & it was so much fun. Everything was clean, organized, and things were easy to find. The property manager is on site and responded very quickly. He checked in on the event several times. He was always keeping up with client requests prior to the wedding and always had a smile on his face. I definitely recommend this venue if you are looking for a very "homey" feel to your wedding experience.

Close to everything I wanted to do. If you haven't been to France, and always wanted to, stay here! If you expect Mid Century Modern, this one isn't for you. But you will feel like you're in France or perhaps Spain . Beautiful, calming, magical. So many lovely touches. Hummingbirds! So many, and they are used to be around people. So, they land and you can actually see them rather than a quick glance like usual. So cool. The grounds are beautiful with lots of natural food for them. They sleep in until about 8 am, although there are a few early risers. No children resort, definitely a plus for us! Quiet and Peaceful. The 'rooms' are centered around the pool, and just has a great feel to it. I say rooms in parentheses because they are so luxurious and comfortable, not like a hotel room. Lovely breakfast, with wine and cheese in the afternoon. Lots of special touches, such as cold water poolside. When have you ever found a blow dryer with attachments? Seriously? Attachments? You girls (and maybe some guys) will totally get this. Cookies In your room upon arrival. Very welcoming. I can't speak to of all of the rooms, but ours had a bidet. I know what one is, but never used one. I understand they're supposed to be fire. Blanca is a gem. She works very hard to make sure your visit is perfect. We can't wait to go back.

However, it got a bit better later, mainly because the manager was really great with the way she handled matters. I would give the place a 2 starts and her attitude and work ethic a solid 4.5 starts. Overall this averages out to 3.5 stars. First the disappointment part: In my opinion this is not worth the price it definitely left a lot to be desired in terms of quality of rooms. Our 2 room suite had broken furniture in the living room, bathroom and the sliding door between the room was broken. The bathroom window curtain rod was broken and actually came apart and fell down while I was showering with rusty nails falling in tub. There was no walk-in shower which might be okay but the tub was also not cleaned well and a bit rundown. For people traveling with kids or lot of luggage, please be aware there is no concierge service/bell boy or carts, there is also no way to disembark from the car with luggage before parking. Parking is a walk away, so be prepared to walk with luggage. There is a valet service which will help out at extra cost. The room service ends at 9pm. On the first day, the customer service was not good. We got more "No" than "Yes" from the front desk but the customer service improved next day and the hotel manager was really great (Henrietta) which made up for the first day and drove me to give it a 3 star review). We requested a roll over extra bed/mattress. I don't have a comparison of the quality of this in other hotels but the bed we received was like a hospital bed and very uncomfortable to sleep in. The suite faced the front road so lots of traffic sounds and road sounds through the night. The redeeming part: The hotel manager was super helpful and understanding when we expressed our concerns. She saved the day for us, upgrading us to a bigger suite for the next night. While we ended up having some issues there as well, she was sincere enough to remit us one night's stay due to all the issues. Note that the suite we were upgraded to was historic and beautiful. If you like the haunted history associated with this hotel, this would be the suite to book. We did not experience any spooky stuff but the charm and age of the walls and the medieval castle feel was enchanting enough. The suite was surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains. It was lovely. Overall, beautiful, historic place with charm and a bit of intrigue but I don't think the pricing per night is a reasonable fit for the quality of the rooms and services offered. The rooms could use renovation and modernization without impacting the historic quality and architectural elements. Better staff training to ensure all staff are courteous and passionate about customer service, better upkeep/maintenance, pest and insect control and longer hours of room service /dining would be great. Great manager, thank you Henrietta for your professionalism and service, your attitude and saved the trip for us.

Really loved the fact they have "skinny drinks" on the menu. Our room was pretty big and right next to one of the pools which was super convenient. We also opted to pay for parking and park right next to our room. It was about 110 degrees so we spent all of our days in the pool. Pool side food and drinks were on point. Their salads are amazing! One of my only complaints is there was a perm sewage smell coming from the shower and bathroom, it wasn't constant but we would get the whiff time to time. There seemed to maybe be plumbing issues. We noticed when the people staying above us were obviously using their bathroom, there was a really scary loud boom in our pipes behind the toilet. Other than that we had a good time. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, despite the air-conditioning not working properly. Unfortunately, management's handling of our reservation was disappointing. We were offered a complimentary bungalow upgrade to secure our booking, even though we had not requested one. Upon arrival, we were told the upgrade was no longer available because of an air-conditioning issue and that only our original reservation would be honored. When we explained that we would not have booked without the bungalow, the manager responded combatively and dismissed our concern because the upgrade had been complimentary. The property itself is nice and a great location, but management should take greater responsibility for commitments made to guests and handle such situations with more professionalism.
