I am allergic to zucchini, so I would have appreciated knowing what was in the stew before ordering it. They brough our entrees before they brought the stew and the waitress sent the food back until we had our stew. Then before we were finished with the stew she is asking can she bring the entrees. The entrees were luke warm. I had chile rellenos, the chiles were tough. My husband had the fish tacos, the fish was tough. I ate here recently one afternoon on my way back home from Santa Fe. Walking in to the place I was told there would be a 20-30 minute wait for a table, or I could sit at the bar. I settled for the bar where there were 2 booths empty, but didn't think twice about it. The young lady behind the bar took my order and the Blue Corn Tortilla Chicken Enchilada with green chili was fantastic, the sides were hot and delicious, and I left the plate completely empty. The freshly brewed iced tea was very satisfying. 10 minutes after I sat at the bar a single person was seated at one of the empty booths in the bar area. How did I feel about this? Mixed feelings, I was satisfied with the meal but didn't leave there completely satisfied, even though the meal and the service was more than great. When ever I walk into a restaurant there is an unspoken pact, that I will happily pay for services I receive, and expect nothing more than an honest effort from the restaurant's staff, both front and back of the house. I had breakfast here with some friends while on a recent trip to Albuquerque. I enjoyed the decorations, and the service was good, considering they told us when we talked in that they were understaffed that day. I had the huevos rancheros, partly because the description said it came with a blue corn tortilla. I was confused when it was served with a folded flour tortilla on top, but quickly found the blue corn one under the eggs. I enjoyed the beans and potatoes as well. Excellent food! Great portions! Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. We ordered the Range Chicken and Buffalo Chicken Wrap and they were both delicious! Disappointing. After returning to NM from a long trip overseas I decided to have a re-entry late breakfast around 10 AM at the Bernalillo Range. The green chile huevos rancheros with a side of bacon was quite disappointing. Range breakfasts are usually served hot. Most of what was served, the range fries, beans and bacon, were only room temperature while the eggs and flour tortilla were just warm at best. The bacon was especially unappetizing, a bit burnt and all fused together and probably had been sitting around in the kitchen for some time. Not my anticipated homecoming. read more

I love The Range. It's quirky and fun, but it's also familiar and everything you love about eating in New Mexico. We most recently went last Saturday and sat near the bar. A super talented instrumental group brought the best energy to the room and played until 9. I ordered the prickly pear margarita, which was as good as it was pretty, and the relleno plate. It was definitely a winner. My fiancé is still talking about the range burger (it had ham, too, babe! HAM!) He also managed to get in his order for cherry berry pie before they ran out, a common occurrence we were told. It's a favorite! Dessert was amazing. Our server was helpful. The Range has been one of our go-to places since we moved here. Tonight I placed a phone order and braved the construction traffic on the 550 to and from Rio Rancho to pick up my order. I ordered a taco salad with their yummy green rice, instead of black beans, with shredded beef on top. It came with no rice and no shredded beef. Ugh! All the highlights of the meal were totally missing! 99% lettuce in a taco bowl with a smattering of diced tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, and shredded cheese. There was a small side of extremely spicy salsa. My husband ordered a hamburger with blue cheese and lettuce and tomato on the side. Asked for their wonderful onions rings. Well, the Range doesn't do onion rings any more, but put smashed onion rings on the burger instead. The side of French Fries then was totally missing. Both meals were messed up. Called and spoke to manager. Wanted me to come back and make a correction! Are you kidding! Did I want to spend 40 more minutes to traffic for this? No way. Told me, he would knock a few dollars off and credit my debit card. The whole meal was a huge disappointment. It just was a really bad experience! We have enjoyed eating at The Range near I-40 many times. We kinda accidentally drove by this one and decided to try it out. Wow!! We are certainly happy we found parking and come inside. We loved the ladies in the front and the cute little shop next door. The place was clean and the food was delicious. I had the veggie omelet which was cooked to perfection. Take a bite and you'll expose the layers of carrot, onion, and celery within. I like dipping my sandwich in ranch then taking a bite! Yum! I chose the side salad option which is in itself a large portion. There's nothing basic about this salad and I love the jicama crunch in every bite. Had the cheese danish for dessert and was pleased with its presentation of a sweet strawberry on top and cheese not just in the middle of the danish but evenly distributed to every edge so you get the delicious cream cheese in every flaky, satisfying bite!
