Huevos with green chile sauce which was flavorful and had some heat. The beans are soooo good. Delicious!

Olllld school diner. Had the huevos rancheros with green chile sauce that was flavorful and had the perfect amount of heat. The beans were so good. Our server was really nice. The only negative is the neighborhood but the food is worth it.

Came in early on a Sunday, just after the restaurant opened for the day. The parking lot was nearly empty, and only the staff inside. I was greeted with a smile, and seated immediately. There were LOTS of choices on the breakfast menu, but the one I chose was the biscuit and gravy platter. I was not disappointed. The consistency and flavor were perfect on every point, and the prices couldn't be beaten. The old west decor, on old Route 66 marked a perfect breakfast experience, and one I hope to repeat on a future visit.

This place seems like a little hole in the wall. Once I sat down, I looked around and took it all in. Old school diner.. Ordered the sheriff special.. it was absolutely delicious. The amount of food I got was great for the price. If you're ever in the area and want some good cooking, this is the place to go.

enchiladas beef only came with 2 flat instead of 3 rolled like I requested. The menu says 3 flat or rolled.

We decided to give the Western View Steakhouse. another try. We ordered an enchilada plate and a meatloaf plate. The meatloaf plate was fine. The enchilada plate only had two enchiladas. and they were flat. I specifically asked for them to be three-rolled. The menu says that it comes with three rolled or three flat enchiladas. I guess they figured out a way how to save money. At this point, I don't know if it's worth going back if they are going to try cutting corners and still charge the same. My enchilada plate was supposed to come with a sopapilla but came with a store-bought tortilla instead. Very disappointing. We give it time before returning thinking maybe they were just having a rough day, but it seems they've been having a rough few years.

Dining in on a Saturday, it was slow, with only a few other diners. We parked in the front, pulling in from Central. It's like stepping back in time, giving diner vibes from decades ago. It was dimly lit and they had plenty of pastries to choose from on display. The food was tasty, and the prices are inexpensive. The only thing that I hated was couple sitting near us. The man was so loud and speaking so rudely to what seemed to be his partner...

"Honey" or "sweetheart" are terms rarely heard in modern restaurants today. But this is not a modern restaurant it is an anachronism. We pulled up and the exterior was dark, are they open - yes. We walked into a place that could have been set in the 50's. It looked old - but had character. Reminded me of a restaurant I'd frequent in South Texas at least every Friday. We found a booth and wet met by our waitress. Got drinks and menus started looking and found the chicken fried steak, it's hand breaded so that was easy. Add fries, carrots and Texas toast. Memories of Saturday nights. The wife ordered a Mexican Combo plate - taco, tamale, enchilada with rice & beans. Chicken fried steak was delicious, & tender, gravy needed a little pepper. The Combo had great taste and was well seasoned. Generous amounts of green chile and cheese - but not drenched in it.There was plenty of food and it was inexpensive! Can't believe it took us so long to stop.

I've been here once before. I had the biscuits and gravy I believe. The service is always good the food is solid and they are open till 9. The only reason I went tonight is because no one is open in this stupid town!! Haha

First, the food. 10/10! Made quickly and to order. They were willing to make substitutions for me, however they do not have Turkey bacon or Turkey sausage, so if you can't have pork, be sure to make sure their menu has something you want. Next, service! The waitress was kind and seemed happy to engage in friendly conversation with the people here. Seems like a lot of locals visit, she knew many of them by name. Third, ambiance! Don't be put off by the exterior. It may look a little run down, but inside is the nice cozy mom-and-pop diner feel you're craving. We will absolutely 100% be back.

Chips on the thicker sturdier side & salsa tasting of very fresh ingredients.

04/13/26 First of…read moreall, don't let the other reviews of a "sketchy" area deter you from visiting Vick's Vittles. The area looks old and poor, but near the restaurant, we didn't see anything sketchy. When we were leaving, we did see some homeless people at the main intersection, but we didn't see anything we'd describe as sketchy. We did notice there is a mobile home park behind the restaurant, but there is a wall between the mobile home park and the restaurant parking lot. Even if there were police surrounding the mobile home park, we'd still venture inside to eat. The food is that good. We shared the cowboy breakfast burrito and the Santa Fe pancakes. Both were filling and ridiculously good. The Santa Fe pancakes made with blue corn, roasted piñons, green chili, and cheddar jack cheese were different than anything else we've ever had. I'll admit I didn't love my first bite or two, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. The pancakes are dry, but if you drizzle some syrup, it's the perfect match. The accompanying eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cowboy breakfast burrito is massive, filling, and worth every calorie. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the peach with green chile turnover. We asked if the turnover is served warm and our waitress replied that she could warm it up for is. I'm not sure that it is normally served warm, but I highly recommend it. The turnover flaky, the glaze was silky once warmed up and the peach with green chile was unique and delicious. Five star service and food. I highly recommend Vick's Vittles and hope that I'm in the area again so I can try more of this delicious food.

All new staff that clearly don't understand the restraunt business. Went in today for breakfast, seated in the back. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. Took longer than normal to get waited on. Placed our order, had to correct the waitress several time on our order. Waited quite awhile, long enough to need more coffee. None was coming so had to call out to another waitress to get more. Our waitress did come back to bring the coffee. Before she got there we were discussing the fact that the entire staff was new. She must have overheard us and took it as some kind of slight to her. Two minutes later the manager came over to inform us that we were being rude to her server and that she would be taking over our service. After some discussion my wife said, "this is ridiculous, guess we won't be coming here again" the manager said "well I'll cancel your order and you can leave now". We said we didnt want her to cancel our order and she just said have a nice day. So we left. Sooo not the Vicks Vittles of the past.

The person who…read moreanswered was incredibly helpful and patiently explained that only the name had changed, which I appreciated. For our meal, we ordered two Chicken & Waffles plates, a Blue Corn Lavender Waffle, and a kids' plate. The Chicken & Waffles were the highlight of the meal, offering a satisfying balance of sweet and savory flavors. The Blue Corn Lavender Waffle was a unique touch and a fun way to try something distinctly New Mexican. Neither my wife nor I cared for the drip coffee, so we asked a staff member if we could swap it out for double espressos. They were happy to accommodate us, and the espresso was a significant improvement. The service was friendly, and the staff made a positive first impression from the phone call all the way through our visit. For our family, the total came to about $80, which felt a little steep. We ended up eating inside since the patio tables were either occupied or unavailable (due to a sleeping homeless person). The restaurant is housed in a renovated older home, and they've done a nice job making the most of the space. One of my favorite touches was the collection of retro waffle makers displayed along the walls, which added a fun, nostalgic charm to the atmosphere. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I'd happily return to explore more of the menu.

I had to pick between savory and sweet, and the menu is huge with lots of options plus build your own! I went for savory and got it with goat cheese and spinach (built my own). It was delightful. The blue corn is just a tinge sweet so was an interesting mix. The waffle is a decent size but is super filling and dense. I'll have to try some sweet waffles or some different waffle bases next time! That said there are lots of gluten free options as well, so if that's for you, then don't hesitate to come check it out you won't be disappointed. There is indoor and outdoor seating, though in general the place is small-ish and can get crowded during busy times. Parking is also a bit of an adventure, but so is anywhere in that area. The staff is super friendly as well. All in all a great experience and I will be back. I can't believe it took me so long to get here in the first place!
