Great spot!!! My second time here but for lunch instead of breakfast and it's a winner again. No need to post menu photos as there are plenty of. I had the NM Reuben that had the green chile and it was really good. The grilled ham and cheese was reportedly good too and a simple comfort food. Service by Jason was great. A definite MUST RETURN!

Quality wise, I believe this is the best of the Range cafes. Went yesterday after a hike. Service :excellent, Food: excellent, Interior: not our favorite but love the tin ceilings! Seriously, the food is consistently great at this one . Don't often come because it's not as close for us. Do not forget your dessert. You'll thank me later

My time in Bernalillo is limited, thus the historic (#1) Range Café was the only option I had considered while passing through town. The experience was so nice that I had 3 major realizations upon finishing my meal: 1) I'm extremely full. 2) I'm now a green chili convert 3) I'm definitely coming back here again. As I understand it, this is one of its oldest locations, in which this place opened shortly after the fire of its original flagship location experienced a fire in the early 90s. They've taken the term "ordinary food done extremely well" to new heights. It might not look like much from the outside, but the place is massive. There are chairs for days and no shortage of seating options for large to small groups. I'm told that there are long waits on the weekends, which goes to show how popular this place really is. There is even a large number of staffers onsite to accommodate. I started with a cup of their famous green chile stew. It was outstanding. There were hints of spice with every slurp, but a satisfying finish to the broth and a wonderfully simmered, fall-apart chicken meat inside. The best part of my chimichanga was the carne adovada meat, but the cabbage and accompanying sauce weren't my favorite. The combo meal of my green chile enchiladas with green chile rice was fabulous. It's a messy meal, but an intensely satisfying one and this is coming from someone who doesn't consider themselves a spice lord. The prices were probably expensive for the area ($45) but the service and quality of food made it far more tolerable. I realize the menu was so extensive that I'd make no hesitation in coming back. __________ (#1) Or touristy, whatever floats your boat.

Original location alert. I love the vibe of this place, if you don't already know the range cafe is a staple of the Southwest. They have an extensive menu, however I encourage While you're at, there's plenty of art to look at it. I love this place. Some of the pieces are for sale, so be sure not have too many mimosas. I absolutely adore the banana pudding! It's the best I've ever had period. If you spill a shot of espresso on top you'll take me to heaven. Cool spot, brunch lunch dinner whatever. Service is resourceful. Even thought there's not an ice coffee on the menu, the team at range cafe were able to make it happen.

Bernalillo, New Mexico January 31, 2026 So quaint! Quirky! Unique!! Delicious! Love this place. It is a fun place with a quirky vibe. Antique toy fridges displayed in the dining area where I ate. Up front there is a counter to eat some of their many desserts. Off to the left of the main entrance they have their gift shop. I did not enter the shop. Waited 20 minutes on a Saturday night at 5:30 pm for a table. Most certainly worth it. Service was efficient. I ordered a draft beer and made it just in time for the five dollar happy hour. Also ordered chips and salsa which during happy hour are 50% off. The chips were probably some of the best I have had. They were crunchy and tasted almost buttery, so smooth. There were white corn chips mixed with blue chips. The salsa was well consisted and had great substance. My husband ordered the chicken chimichanga and I ordered the chicken burrito. We could not decide between red and green sauce so we asked the waiter to give us one of each on the side. Glad I did this because both were delicious. There was a copious amount of chicken. It was shredded and wrapped in the tortilla with pinto beans on the side. I truly cannot believe the amount of chicken in my burrito. And it was so tender. We were visiting from out of town and I wish I had gone back to this restaurant for the next night dinner as it was so delicious. Please make the effort to visit this restaurant when you are in town, just north of Albuquerque.

Death by Lemon oh so good

Food was absolutely delicious and Erick our server was so sweet and helpful. The hostess was also super helpful in suggesting some delicious dessert! I can't wait to try the green chili apple pie We will make this a regular stop on our trip back to Dallas.

Burnt fries and little avocado pieces on my LOBO CLUB.
    Cari M.

We've eaten here many times in the past and never been disappointed, but there's a first for everything. Tonight we picked up a couple of Lobo club sandwiches with sweet potato fries. About a third of our fries were burnt. There was no bacon on the clubs, and just a couple very small slices of avocado, and tomato. OK, I thought, you're allowed to have a bad night. There was a very large catering order going out right before ours, so I know you were busy. Then things got really bad. I bit into one of the very hard burnt fries and broke my tooth. I know you guys can do better. I will say at least the turkey, bread, and what veggies there were on the sandwich were fresh. Edit: the manager, Kathy (?), really took care of us once this was brought to her attention. We will be back!

A lot of history and tradition are part of this restaurant. That is why we stopped for lunch on our way to a concert at Rio Rancho event Center. We arrived at the end of the lunch rush so that may have something to do with a low rating. We ordered the signature hamburger and blue corn enchiladas. The blue corn enchiladas were good but the signature hamburger was average with cold sweet potato fries. Keylime pie was better than average and if you order it prior to your meal, there's a discount. Excellent service from our server.

Breakfast was good. The plate we chose, Burgos rancheros, was a bit of a deconstructed dish with the chorizo on the side and the eggs smothered in red and green chili. I was expecting the chili to be a little more flavorful but nonetheless it was good. The coffee did have a different flavor I'm wondering if it's piñon coffee. The servers were attentive and took great care of their tables. the highlight of the visit was the cake... layers of chocolate cake, icing, cheesecake, flan, more icing, tres leches.. oh my ... it was so so good. They have fresh pastries, fresh cakes, you order desert first and get 10%off ;) And next door you get a nice gift shop with many local items and souvenirs to remind you of your time in NM.

Stopped in based on reviews and I'm so glad we did. The service was great and atmosphere was chill with beautiful artwork everywhere. I tried the tofu tacos and they were amazing! I don't even like tofu! Definitely recommend!

The taco meat had been sitting on the back burner most of the day. I walked in at 1:10 pm and they close at 2 pm. Horrible dried up ground beef. Can't believe I am paying for dried up tacos, and the cook served me just that, instead of making me fresh ground beef. Next the Spanish Rice was also very dry and cold. The cook could not at least get it warmed up, no because it was so dried up rice, warming it up would not work. Very nasty plate I was served. The beans were good, yet they were luke warm. The only thing that was fresh on my plate was the sopaipilla and the guacamole. Otherwise, what a freaking mess I was serviced. I guess I am done with Kap's. Sorry because you all have a wonderful up-front staff. This place looks like the coffee shops I remember going to as a kid--labs rock walls and a counter with seats. We also ordered French toast with eggs and bacon and a carne adovada omelet with hashbrowns and a pancake, and everyone enjoyed their very large breakfasts. This might be in a relatively unsavory part of town, but it's worth the visit for the good food and good service!

This is a pharmacy/store/diner with a very good local vibe. The pharmacy has a bit of everything, from books, jewelry, and toys, to clothing, decor, and kitchen stuff. And when we thought there was no space for a diner, we found where the magic takes place just around the corner, where we were welcomed and seated. People were friendly, kitchen staff were getting stuff out quickly, and our server was ok. Efficiency was a clear target for everyone and our food was on our table in no time. For food, our friends ordered the breakfast burritos (with red only and a Christmas version), , the hubs ordered the carne adobada, and I ordered the tamal plate with red and green, just like I like I like it . Everyone was pleased with their choices. The burritos were big and tasty. The carne adobada had a lot of deliciously marinated pork and the steamed potatoes were quite a good addition. The tortilla with butter was simple yet delicious, with a firm and thick tortilla. The tamal plate was almost perfect. The red and green sauces were amazing, but I was slightly partial to the spicier green chile sauce. The masa on the tamales was firm and good. If there was one change I would make, it would be for the tamales to have more filling. Overall, we had a good experience at a very unique place!
