We've been eating at The Raymond for awhile now and every instance was executed so well, from the food, the drinks, and the service. We recently just hosted our wedding dinner here on their beautiful patio and the staff could not have been more accommodating. They communicated with us promptly and clearly, while keeping it as stress-free as possible. All of our guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly and it will always remain an amazing memory for us. Kevin, Jeannette, and Amanda helped us the whole night and we couldn't have asked for kinder, more professional staff to let us enjoy our night. I have driven past this restaurant many times and never stopped. This Saturday I finally got to experience The Raymond! I ordered the Alien Pool Party Cocktail and could not stop laughing when it was served. The drink was the perfect combination of sweet, spice and had the right amount of liquor. Started off with the Burrata and Heirloom tomatoes and Caesar Salad. Both dishes were amazing. I ordered the half chicken limone and my mother got the Chilean Sea Bass. Dishes were so tasty. My mother mentioned that the bok choy served with fish needed more flavor lol. Of course my mother is hard to please. We ordered the puréed potatoes and broccolini. Potatoes were the broccolini was ok. The staff was very attentive and our water glasses always stood full and the dishes were cleared and not left sitting. I've visited this restaurant a few times, but on this occasion it was my birthday and I had high expectations. Thankfully I would say The Raymond 1886 delivered across the board. Despite being on the busy Fair Oaks, there is plenty of street parking and valet parking. We visited at 7pm on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was lively but not too busy. Since we had a reservation we were seated right away. There is plenty I could say but to keep it simple: the food is amazing, the drinks are amazing (my favorite was the Delfino), and the service is amazing. I did not have one thing I could complain about. They brought out a "special" menu for birthday and treated me with a small cake and champagne for myself and my husband. This review is long overdue. In November, my now husband and I had our intimate wedding ceremony and cocktail reception in the caucus garden and very cool bar area of The Raymond. From the beginning, Claudia, the on-site event coordinator, was incredibly helpful, accommodating, and responsive. We started planning only five months before, so we were a bit nervous about the timeframe. Claudia quickly calmed those nerves, and made something that could have been very stressful stress free. She answered every question, kept us on track, and even provided creative ideas based on our vision. She was a joy to work with! We had our wedding on Tuesday, but you would have mistaken it for a weekend seeing how much fun everyone was having. All of our guests had an awesome time! The ambiance of the space was unmatched. We received many compliments on the food, drinks and service. Shout out to Carlos, one of the servers, who really took care of our family and friends that day! If you're looking for a venue to host your wedding or any celebration, look no further. Everything about this place deserves 5 stars! The cutest, coziest, and most charming place ever! We made reservations the day of without any trouble and we were glad we did because they were packed when we got there. We opted to sit outside on the patio and the ambiance was amazing. Our server, Amanda, was the best! She checked on us and made sure we were good throughout. We loved and really enjoyed our food. We have enjoyed the Raymond since it first opened. Having not been for a couple of years I knew something had changed when I sat down and noticed high grade paper napkins, not cloth. Their Manhattan was one of the best I have ever had, but that too has changed. And, we had to ask for extra dressing for the Caesar Salad. The meal was okay, but the price seemed high. The service and ambience were great as is the charm of the beautiful facility but the bench seats really need an update. It is sad to see an exceptional restaurant change so much. read more

Made reservations here on a Saturday evening for a family dinner. The resy was made in OpenTable and also required a credit card to reserve. The restaurant itself is a little hidden and slightly off Fair Oaks Ave on a smaller ally-like entrance called Railroad St. Pretty hidden so be on the lookout! You can either valet for $8 or park on Fair Oaks facing north. The restaurant itself is a converted caretakers cottage (the full history is a pretty good read, on their website). I would suggest eating outdoors in their lovely front or back patio if you have a party size larger than 4 as the inside is on the smaller side. Ok, now for the good stuff: Drinks: -Alien Pool Party, spicy tequila based cocktail. 10/10 -Delfino, also tequila based on the sweeter side 9/10 Food: -Mary's Chicken, roasted and a great portion 10/10 -Filet of Ribeye, was perfectly cooked, had great flavor. However, I didn't care for the mushrooms it came topped with. 9/10 -Sea Bass, decent flavor, cooked and served skin-on 7/10 -Pasta Bolognese, was delicious, my nephew wouldn't stop raving about it, he said he'd give it a 10/10 lol -Crème Brûlée, it was everything I imagined. Absolutely delicious 10/10 -Peach Cake, awesome presentation, good flavor 9/10 Overall this place was great and so was the service. Our server Patrick was pleasant and provided a great experience. We worked with the Raymond to host a 70th birthday party for my Mom and it was amazing! Kevin and team were very helpful in getting us ready for the big day, and kind and supportive on the day of. The food was exquisite and the setting in the back patio was beautiful. Our family and friends had a wonderful time celebrating together. I absolutely recommend working with them for an event. My husband and I went to eat here for a brunch date. As soon as we walked in, I'm assuming the (manager) gave us a weird look as if he was annoyed that we said we didn't have a reservation. This was for brunch around 12pm today. First off, the waiter took a long time to ask if we wanted something to drink but with the other tables around us, he went multiple times asking if they're okay or checked in with them. (The busboy however, was very nice in filling us our water). Not once did the waiter do a simple check in with us throughout our dining experience. Not sure if it was because we were the only couple that was Latino, but all in all, it's safe to say, if you're Latino they won't pay any attention to you so save yourself and go somewhere else. Family and Friends in September attended a beautiful Milestone Birthday Celebration @ The Raymond 1886 in the Cactus Garden and enjoyed the Saturday Coordinated Brunch experience. It was lovely, intimate with elevated ambience, beautifully dressed and decorated for a party. The food was good, service was timely and considerate. My wife took me to the Raymond for date Friday evening and it was AMAZING. I grew up in Pasadena but never knew it existed. It really is a hidden gem in the south of the city with fantastic food, and great service. Our server Ginger knew everything on the menu and had recommendations that were on point. But honestly, everything we tried on the menu was freaking awesome. BTW, we ate on the patio and it was charming. Great spot if you're looking to have a date night. It reminded me of steakhouse in some kind of historic house (turns out the place is Raymond Hotel owner's caretaker's home). Food was extremely underwhelming and under-seasoned. Corn soup wasn't creamy and it was like from an instant pack and worse Kale salad was alright but hubby said he felt it wasn't fresh. Maybe he was looking for veggies' crunchiness and there was none. Steak - they didn't ask for temperature, so we asked. The server said it is cooked medium rare. For an old-school American restaurant to cook steak like this, it's a hard pass for us. Steak was worse for similar steak in Urban Plates and $45/pop on their regular menu. Very chewy and rubbery. Sauce had the weird mint? Food was decent and the ambiance was nice. However, we had really bad service. Took forever to get our initial drinks. After we were served a glass of water, those glasses weren't refilled for the rest of the night. Probably around 30 mins at the table before food orders were taken. Appetizers came, then main dishes arrived so soon after that the server was waiting for me to finish my last bite so he could swap the plates. We wanted to order a bottle of wine, but our waiter didn't turn up until several minutes after mains were dropped. By the time the bottle and glasses came, some of us were nearly finished eating. I booked The Raymond 1886 for my company's 2025 Holiday Party and was thoroughly impressed with everything from my initial call to the execution of our event. Working with Kevin, the Special Events Manager, was an absolute delight. Kevin worked very closely with me on all details of our event from the menu to the ambient staging of our space. Having never eaten at The Raymond 1886 prior to our event, I relied very heavily on Kevin's opinion to have a menu that had options that would appeal to an array of varying palettes. The cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer recommended were also incredible. Our event had 23 people and our head waiter and bus staff were attentive and never made anyone feel like they had to wait for their drink or food. Speaking of food.... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!! The food at this place was really well made and very tasty. They have a very balance menu for food and drinks and I really enjoyed it. The service was also amazing, we were a group of 10 of us so not an easy task at all. The ambiance was relaxed but also formal as the inside of this place is a real house set up with dim lighting and some nice nooks where groups can catch up and enjoy this place. A quaint restaurant in an old home, well organized to create a relaxing vibe no matter if you're dining indoor our outside in the patio. For minute you almost feel as though you're walking into someone home for dinner. Started out with the burrato & heirlooms tomatoes, love the lightly sweet & tangy balsamic glaze and the cheese on top. The sea bass on top of the lentils, just melts in your mouth. The Day boat scallops comes with 3 larges pieces of scallop accompanied with some sauteed kale, that is just as delicious, could almost eat twice the portion size. LOL We didn't get a chance to try the drinks here but hope to return for that next time. Outdoor has heaters & blankets to accommodate the cold evenings. Street parking and valet parking available. We came in with a party of 3 for brunch to celebrate Mother's Day. Mom had the waffles, my husband had the Benedict and I ordered the salmon toast. Everything was delicious! What really stood out though were our cocktails! Mom had the 1886 cosmo, I had the Ramos gin fizz and hubby had a Don something or other that was a bourbon drink with maple syrup. It was so smooth and delightful. Presentation on everything was wonderful, the Raymond knows how to make a stunning and tasty cocktail. Robert waited on us and he made excellent menu and drink recommendations and was so polite, attentive and lovely! We selected the patio outdoors for our reservation and it was magical. Hidden restaurant by the bridge! We found street parking to avoid the valet charge. What you see (fancy) is what you get (pricey) but it is delicious!! Came here for my birthday brunch treated by my aunt. It was definitely a treat and I felt special that she took me to such an elegant place! The ambiance is nice (didn't sit inside but it looked nice) and outside was perfect weather! It was slightly chilly but they had heaters so we were good. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful! Easter dinner at the Raymond!! Reserving a seat was super easy booking through open table. When you reserve you have to pick indoor or outdoor so choose wisely. Usually they select your seat before you come and account for all reservations unlike other places. So if you show up and ask for a different seat they have to make sure there is one still open. They have valet for $8 but street parking is right next to the building for free. We ordered the chicken, rib eye, and sea bass as well as a side of bread and butter. The chicken: they use chicken breast that is super juicy and soaked up all the flavor! I loved it so much. The ribeye: was a little over cooked from what was requested but still was super high quality. The Seabass: super moist super flavorful and matched the lentils and sauce perfectly! The bread and butter: one small baguette with ube honey butter and sour cream with onion butter. We also had two drinks and 3 desserts. In the end the total came out to be $200 with no gratuity. My husband and I went here for Valentines Day. They had a pre fixed menu. While the price was on the higher side per person it was so worth every penny. The service is amazing the food is fantastic and the ambiance is romantic, very traditional pasadena and just fun. You can sit indoors or outdoors. If you sit outdoors they have outdoor heaters so you don't have to worry about getting cold and umbrellas if it is too hot. This place also features an amazing brunch on the weekend so it is worth checking out. Again the food is always really good. This place has been a local favorite in Pasadena for a very long time. I haven't been to The Raymond for more than 10 years so it is great to revisit for Happy Hour now that I live nearby. I preferred the patio seating since it could feel a little claustrophobic and warm within the indoor dining space. The menu has definitely been modernized and I am so glad that they included one delicious and filling vegan entrée for someone like my husband who is vegan. Happy Hour (Tue - Fri; 4 to 5:30 PM) prices are still pretty steep but this is Pasadena after all - just know that you're paying for the price of ambiance, food, and service as well so it's worth it. Such a cozy, lovely place to spend a 7th anniversary. It was just perfect ambiance, the fireplace was warm and inviting. Alexandros was incredible, I'm not sure if he's a mind reader but he seemed to know exactly when a thought popped into our heads and anticipated our needs without a single word being spoken. His laugh was contagious and we very much enjoyed our visit even more with his presence. We ordered a mushroom tagliatelle and pesto pasta dish, Alexandros suggested pairing shrimp and chicken respectively and it was the right choice.
