Came to Raymond 1886 for Dine LA and overall had a really good experience. The restaurant is a little tucked away, but the service definitely stood out. Jeanette was very attentive, but I also loved how the entire staff worked together. Our drinks were constantly refilled, empty plates were cleared quickly, and our table stayed clean throughout the meal. I'd definitely give the service a 5/5. The food was about a 3.5/5 for me. The flavors were there, but the pasta and steak could have used a little more seasoning. The corn ribs were really flavorful and one of my favorites. I also had the daiquiri from the happy hour menu, which was strong and tasty. The peach sorbet was such a refreshing way to end the meal. It even had little bits of real peach in it, which was a nice surprise. Overall, great service, good atmosphere, and definitely worth trying.

Came here with a group of friends to try the Dine LA Dinner Menu for $65 per person. The Dine LA Dinner Menu includes an Appetizer, Main Entree, and a Dessert. For me, I selected the followings: Appetizer - Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice Entree - 1886 Steak Frites Dessert - Fosselman's Artisanal Ice Cream (Vanilla) All items were very delicious. Service was good despite some minor issues. Overall, had a great time here.

Great dinner menu offered Tuesday - Friday, Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. This restaurant is classy, yet casual. It has a rich history within the City of Pasadena. Originally, the property was part of a hotel, which is no longer in existence. The restaurant was developed and opened years later. I went with a foodie group for the DineLA Prix Fixe dinner. It is available through August 28th. Choose one item from the following categories listed below for $65 pp, plus an add-on option for Wine Pairing $35: APPETIZER - Shrimp Cocktail (jumbo grilled shrimp with cocktail sauce and pico de gallo). - Tuna on Crispy Rice Cake (Ahi Tuna, diced avocado and a dash of Sriracha) - Corn Ribs (roasted corn on the cob with aioli, queso cotija and tahin) ENTREE - Lobster Salad (lobster tail perched on mixed greens with a honey tarragon dressing) - Steak Frites (Hangar steak and seasoned French fries) - Truffle Mushroom Tagliatelle (pasta with a creamy garlic sauce and parmigiana reggiano cheese). DESSERT - Peach Galette (pastry crust topped with sliced peaches, drizzled with plum sauce and a scoop of ice cream) - Fosselmans Ice Cream Scoop Our server was Jeanette, she was very helpful, friendly and engaging with our group. We had a lot of questions, lol. At Mike W's suggestion, we placed the cocktail order before the food. The cocktails are hand-crafted and take time to create. Amongst us, we ordered EVERY item on the menu. The lobster salad made a great presentation. It caught my eye for a future visit to the Raymond. The food was served in a timely manner, dishes were cleared to make room for the next course. The flow from the kitchen to our table was seamless. We had a nice outdoor table in the corner of the patio, it was a good evening to dine al fresco. I highly recommend this restaurant for quality food and good customer service. Sincerely, Rosemary

The Raymond 1886 is always elegant and welcoming and delicious! We got reservations this weekend with friends to celebrate a retirement and two anniversaries. We decided to spring for valet parking for $8 but then realized there's 2 hour street parking for free just beyond the hedges in front of the restaurant afterwards. Oh well, it was a special occasion. We were seated right at 6 (the time of our reservation). The hostess also made sure we knew our server's name and brought us ice water. (You can choose bottled or tap). Our server's name Jennifer was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We ordered the horseradish crusted salmon and the steak frites and our friends ordered the truffle mushroom tagliatelle and the filet mignon. We were all extremely happy and satisfied with our entrees. The portions are perfect. No doggy bags needed and no room for dessert. I really enjoyed the broccolini that accompanied my salmon--it was cooked just enough to retain a little crunch. The savory sauce on the salmon was subtle and complimentary to the flaky fish. We sat in the bar room of this restaurant that used to be a house. The patio looked lovely too, especially on a summer evening so maybe we'll choose that next time. Because you can bet there'll be a next time!

The Raymond 1886 was such a pleasant experience. Not just by the food, but by our wonderful waitress, Jeanette. She was extremely kind and entertaining throughout the entire night. She took care of my family so well and checked in with us often. And she's extremely funny! You'll be lucky to have her as your waitress when coming here, she did a phenomenal job and would honestly request her when I come back here.   Tuna Crispy Rice (4/5) Great starter! Loved how the tuna had a small kick of spice from the jalapeno and sriracha. Generous amounts of fresh tuna, which is great! I just would have wished the rice was a bit crispier. Rice was a bit soft, but overall didn't take away from the dish and presentation   Bread & Butter (5/5) One thing that fascinated me about the bread and butter was the fact that there was pineapple in the butter. I know it sounds a bit off, but the sweetness of the butter really elevated the dish! It stands out so much and couldn't help but notice how unique it is compared to other standard butters. Would recommend trying it!   Steak Frites (5/5) Steak was medium rare and perfectly cooked. Fries were crispy and freshly topped with herbs. Solid dish.   Dynamite Tots (5/5) Just like it's name, the flavor was absolutely dynamite. I never had tater tots with ebi mayo or eel sauce, but that's how I want my tots from now on. Each tot was crisp to perfection and passed the crunch test for sure. Love the Asian flavor and touch that was brought to the dish, highly recommend.   Dulce de Leche Creme Brûlée (5/5)  The perfect way to end your meal here. Creamy, delicious and not too sweet! The crust on top was perfectly bruleed and the flavor profile had sweet notes of caramel. Would definitely get it again.

I've been to The Raymond twice now, and really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back again soon. First and foremost - 5/5 for the service and ambiance. The hostess and our server (both occasions we dined here) were extremely friendly and really made our dining experience very enjoyable. Very lovely ambience. First time we came here was for my wife's birthday. We came for brunch and it happened to be Mother's Day Weekend. We were a bit bummed because the only reason I made reservations to have brunch here was specifically because they had Crab Cake Benedicts on the menu (my wife's favorite). However, when we arrived I noticed it was not on the menu. I asked our server and he mentioned it was removed literally only for that day, and replaced with a "special" Smoked Salmon Benedict. I really wish they had just added the Smoked Salmon Benedict as a special, rather than replace the popular Crab Cake offering all together. Anyhow - frustrations aside, we ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict, and honestly it was still very very good. My wife was happy with it and that's all that mattered lol. The smoked salmon was tasty, and the eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and runny for both of us. The potatoes were amazing. Very crispy! For dessert, we got the chocolate cookie skillet with the ice cream. I can't remember the exact name of it, but it was really good. Tip: ask for extra ice cream. The scoop it comes with is a little small compared to the size of the cookie. We still felt unfulfilled though, and so we came back 2 weeks later for brunch a 2nd time, and this time we called ahead to make sure they had the crab cake Benedicts back on the menu. Couldn't risk it! LOL. The crab cake Benedict was good. Maybe I set my expectations too high haha, but it was still good. My wife and I both ordered it. This time, my eggs were unfortunately way over cooked. I didn't want to complain or anything, so I just ate it. Luckily my wife's eggs were runny and cooked perfectly. Also the potatoes were not as crispy this time. Conclusion - The food is good. First time we came here it was better than the 2nd time, and this was only 2 weeks apart, and ordering basically the same thing, eggs Benedicts. As mentioned, 2nd time my eggs were over cooked. We still really LOVED dining here and definitely will be back soon to try their dinner since both times we came here was for brunch only. The ambience was really amazing truly. We've only sat on the patio, but it was very peaceful, not too loud, and felt quite romantic. Parking: There is valet, but both times we came for brunch (around 10:30am) and found street parking very close by. I would imagine street parking could be harder at different times of the day, but for early brunch there was plenty of street parking available.

We had such a great experience at The Raymond! The food and service were both amazing, and Alessandro was an excellent server as he was very attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. We did the Dine LA menu, and everything was delicious. The grilled shrimp and crispy rice were both really good, and the steak frites definitely hit the spot. But the star of the meal was the truffle mushroom pasta. It was SO good! I would honestly go back just to order that again. I'll definitely be coming back to The Raymond. Great food, great service, and a wonderful overall experience!

Thank you, Ginger, and crew for making mine and my boyfriend's anniversary dinner one to remember! We initially arrived during social hour on the patio. We started with the Alien Pool Party and Charred Sunset, both were delish! Round 2 included the Stomazzi (perfectly refreshing) and 1886 Old Fashioned. You can tell how much thought went into each specialty cocktail, from the syrups to the ice (ask your server why!). The crudo and corn ribs caught our eye and the Brad & butter service was recommended to us; we opted to try all 3 and I'm glad we did. It was a great was to get a taste of the kitchen's range. The bread & butter service was the highlight of the appetizers, warm and fresh bread paired with a sweet and savory butter made fresh daily! Ended up staying through dinner service and I'm glad we did! I tried the chef's special of red snapper, served with a smile ;) My boyfriend got the steak frites, which was a great pairing with his whiskey drinks. To top off our celebration, we got dessert (do yourself a favor and try anything made by their pastry chef!!), an espresso, and glass of bubbly. SO, so happy we made our way to the Raymond, a true gem!

    A Sunday toast,
    Todd J.

Sunday afternoons at The Raymond 1886 feel like stepping into a slower, more intentional world and this one was especially memorable. We started with a beautiful glass of pinot, light and smooth, the kind that lingers just enough to match the mood. The sourdough arrived warm, perfectly crusted, with butter that melted on contact simple, but done right. Our shared chicken salad was fresh and balanced, with that subtle char on the chicken that adds just enough depth without overpowering the greens. But honestly, as lovely as the food and patio were the dappled sunlight, the quiet hum of a Pasadena afternoon it was her company that made everything taste better, feel softer, and linger a little longer. Some places set the scene. This one just lets the moment happen...

We hosted our ~70 person ceremony and reception at The Raymond in May and could not have been more thrilled with the service, food, and event planning leading up to the big day. Kevin was an amazing collaborator, going above and beyond to make our vision come to life. This was felt by our guests who raved about the food, cocktails, and kindness of everyone working the event. I couldn't recommend The Raymond more for anyone considering planning large events or buyouts. We're thrilled with our experience.

This is such a unique spot in a repurposed house. I attended a family party here and loved the space. It's great for small groups and were sat in a covered patio. The service was a bit slower on a weekend night. Drinks were amazing and the bread was enjoyed. I had the branzino and my partner the steak. Both were great. I loved the vibe and would return, especially with a small group.

Special event menu. We were too busy eating to take food pics

Was doing a small customer group meeting at The Raymond 1886. Really nice vibe to it. I had the Skirt Steak and really enjoyed it along with some great desserts and coffee afterwards. The meetings and events people were great and our waitress Sam did a great job. Will come back again sometime.

Came here for an intimate wedding reception and it's definitely a vibe! We were seated outdoors and the weather was perfect. It was a preset menu so I went with the Caesar salad (could've used a bit more dressing, the ahi tostada which was very yummy, and the hangar steak which was delicious as well. I ended the meal with the butter cake which is a must!! I also got the poolside afterglow to drink which was super good also! It was busy of course for a Saturday night but we still received great service. Would definitely come back for a date night.

How much is the corkage fee currently if we bring our own bottle of wine?

$35 corkage fee per bottle. Maximum 2 750ml bottles.

While we were there, the Manager suggested trying their Steakhouse across the parking lot. We forgot the name of that Steakhouse? We would like to try!?

    Is the patio pet friendly?

Yes, our main patio is pet friendly.

Do they do complementary birthday/candle desserts?

Yes, they provided a small dessert with candle.

Do they still hold happy hour?

    Yes! Right now, it's Tuesday-Friday from 4:00-5:30pm.

How is the parking situation here?

The parking situation is great. There’s street parking for free, they have two small lots and valet. I’ve never needed valet.

What's the corkage fee? $25 for ea bottle. 3 bottle max.

    Sorry. I don't know

I was gifted a gift certificate by someone who moved out of state. Is the gift certificate transferable since it's in the person who moved out of state name?

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

    What's the corkage cost?

    $15 to $25

Do you need reservations for lunch?

I would recommend it, as you never know how busy they will be and cannot guarantee you'll get a table especially weekends

What menu items are available for vegans?

The Impossible Burger. They have salads and steak fries. They make the taco vegan but it's plain.

Bar seating different from the main dining area? We plan on enjoying Happy Hour and transition to dinner.

    What time is happy hour?

    Happy Hour: Tuesday - Friday 4pm - 7pm

Would it be too cold to sit on the patio for dinner right now in December?

It's covered and pretty well insulated...in my opinion, it's an all year 'round patio!

Do they show the dodger game?

    They don't have TVs

Where is the designated parking area? Or is valet the only option?

If you drive up into the driveway, the only option is valet, which I believe is still $5. Otherwise, there's plenty of free street parking in the area.

Is the 1886 bar indoors or out? Since, Friday is suppose to be over 100*, outside would be too hot, but won't the inside be too warm as well?

She had the Pablo's Poison (Altos reposado tequila, strawberry, lime, jalapeno, elderflower, $17). The jalapeno flavor really stood out with strawberry and elderflower in the background. They have a good cocktail menu with almost twenty cocktails, as well as a food menu with ten items. Walk up to the bar to order your drinks. Jeremy, the manager, and the female bartender whose name who I didn't get were nice. We aren't in Pasadena very often, and while they have a good cocktail menu, I don't know if we would return. We were expecting more.

Can't speak to the food, but the couple of plates we saw come out certainly looked tasty. Our server wasn't the most personable, but that was okay with us. Service is really really slow. You may see 5 or 6 waiters on staff...but they aren't stopping at tables to check up on guests. Alot of them are just hanging around the bar or front desk chitchatting with friends. The food quality dropped tremendously. It tastes like bland bar food now. $19 for 2 meatballs laying in tomato paste....and they were not even room temperature. Felt like they had these already prepared and sitting somewhere, just waiting for the next guest to order them. Got a mojito that may have been mistaken for a "virgin" drink....cause no one at our table could taste any alcohol in it. They all said it was watered down mint with ice. I wish this place would go back 10 years and make it like "the spot you want to go to"....versus the spot you now avoid.

We had actually tried to get into the steakhouse first, but at 5:30 p.m. they were already booked until 8:00, so the Tap Room it was--and honestly, **I'm glad we ended up there!** The drinks were REALLY good, and the service was just as great. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and welcoming, and the whole atmosphere was exactly what we needed after our afternoon tea experience. Sometimes the backup plan ends up being the better plan! **High Tea may have disappointed, but the Tap Room definitely helped redeem the afternoon.** Great drinks, great service, and even better company. I'd absolutely come back for the Tap Room! And thank you to Francis and his excellent service

They do not take reservations and it gets pretty busy around 8ish so I recommend you show up around 7:30pm just before the live music starts. The ambience is moody and romantic, featuring deep hues and prohibition era decor, there are comfortable chairs with small cocktail tables and large leather couches for larger parties. The drinks were well poured and very tasty, highly recommend the Huntington for a bold drink that's ideal for the setting. This is a great place for a sexy and intimate date night. The live music was spectacular, some seriously good vocals, and the jazzy and soul selection was again impeccably matched for the ambiance. I enjoyed that all of the guests were dressed nicely, nothing I love more than an opportunity to slip on a sexy dress and heels while still staying local. This is the place if you want a reason to dress up. The food menu was limited and not my favorite but everything else was so unique and satisfying that I can overlook the food not being my favorite. The squash blossoms were very good but not very filling, the beet dip was a bit too sweet for my liking. This will definitely be a nice treat for date night, can't wait to come back.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including the buttermilk biscuits, yellowfin tuna tartare, BBQ chicken, calamari, and the fideos, and every single dish was delicious. My personal favorites were the buttermilk biscuits and the fideos. The biscuits were warm, buttery, and absolutely irresistible, while the fideos were packed with flavor and easily a standout dish. Everything else was just as enjoyable, the tuna tartare was fresh, the calamari was perfectly cooked, and the BBQ chicken was tender and flavorful. If you're dining with a group, I definitely recommend ordering a few dishes to share so you can try a little bit of everything. We'll definitely be back!

Our server was super friendly and attentive the whole night, gave us great advice on how much food to order, and checked in just enough. We had a couple of solid cocktails and kicked things off with the shaved celery salad and yellowfin tuna tartare. Both of those appetizers were 10/10. The mains (the trout and the chicken) were a little bit of a letdown by comparison, just feeling kind of average, but they were still fine. Just nothing to rave about. The spot has a really nice old-school vibe that felt right for a birthday dinner. Parking is a bit of a headache around there, but keep in mind there's a public parking garage right around the corner that's free on weekends and after noon on weekdays.
