Was visiting the Suncadia area and looking to check out the scene for some delicious food - The Red Bird Cafe popped up as an interesting option to try some local food! So we decided to swing by on a Saturday around noon for quick lunch stop. The Red Bird Cafe is located in the downtown area of Roslyn, and it may be busy and difficult to find parking in the area if you are visiting midday. Parking is situated along the streets of Roslyn and there is additional slots near the trailhead down the street from where the restaurant is located. There wasn't too many customers during the time we went, but service is fast - we were able to get our food about 10 minutes after we ordered. The ambiance of the restaurant is quaint - with tightly spaced tables arranged throughout the restaurant, and you can choose wherever you'd like to sit. I ordered the Classic Monte Cristo, as I haven't tried this sandwich before, and this sandwich, though looking not too large, was actually really filling! The cheese and ham/turkey were layered between I think three slices of bread - giving a pleasing tiered texture. The bread was fluffy and had a nice spongy texture as you chewed it. Though I wished I could have got more of the jam - it had a refreshing sweetness that you could interchange between the richness of the sandwich. In the end, I spent about $13 for this sandwich, and I thought this was a good deal given how much it fills you up! Without a doubt, hands down, absolutely the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. Usually places only have the gravy right or the biscuit right. But Red Bird Cafe has the best biscuits AND gravy. You must try it out for yourself. My group also had the eggs bennedict which was delicious, along with the breakfast sandwich. The When Pigs Fly nest stacker is absolutely delicious as well. Richie and the crew at the Red Bird Cafe are class! They do their best to treat everyone with with respect, and yet when u are a local it is clear they are very glad u are there. We have often been to restaurants in Cle Elum and Roslyn and been treated like we were not really welcome because the crocus was on the more affluent out of town, tourist folks! Today, even though they were very busy, Richie took the time to ask me my name! He joked with me that I have a great name! We had not been to the Red Bird for a while, due to many things. I DREAM OF THIS PLACE SINCE EATING HERE A MONTH AGO. They had sooooo many delicious sounding options on their menu that I had a very hard time deciding what to order. I ended up having a salad which was, quite possibly, the best salad I have ever eaten. It had burrata cheese and mandarin oranges and some nuts and I cant remember what else but I was actually sad when I ate the last piece of lettuce. My daughters both LOVED Their lunches and everyone around us was raving about their food as well. The server was just the nicest guy and answered our questions in a kind way. I wish they had a Red Bird Cafe in my town, because I would love to eat my way through their menu. Friendly owners, vintage hippie vibe (Patchouly soap in restroom!) with vintage chrome kitchen tables indoors, and sweet outdoor garden area. I had the Tuna Croissantwich with orange Fanta. Was in town for a birthday weekend and we initially head to Logan's for brunch but we got there late and didn't make it for brunch :( so we decided to take a walk and found this little gem not too far away! EVERYTHING about this shop is great! Stopped here for brunch/lunch on a gray day in June on our way to Chelan. Were able to get a table right away and order. Food took a little time to come out of the kitchen but the restaurant was pretty full. Awkward little side room for dining but adorable bathroom, even with baby changing supplies, which we used. Food was good but we would probably order something different next time. We tried the sweet potato pastrami hash which said it came with vegetables but the only vegetable I saw was onion (and I even asked the served what veggies came with this), the monte cristo, and the kids french toast sticks, that my daughter ate all of. I saw some other sandwiches and salads go out of the kitchen and had order envy for sure. We used to come here every time we come to Suncadia, their food is very reasonably priced and most of the items are pretty good! However it takes FOREVER, minimum 45 minutes so if you're hungry go somewhere else OR order ahead! On a farmers market Sunday we waited over an hour and a half for our food and they were very very rude (likely bc they were stressed and busy). Also the guy who works here is very nice but the lady at the front always has an attitude. Definitely not the best service but due to such limited breakfast options in the area we usually still come. read more

I was shocked to hear the price when I paid. Menu prices I got $32 worth of food. Which was average. The potatoe hash was a bit crunchy for my liking. But when I went to pay, I was told $62! I asked if the drink my wife had (a caned soda from their fridge) was $30. I was not given a receipt to show the cost breakdown, which sketched me out even more. This whole town is like this, though. This restaurant is the one that got us the worst, though. Every restaurant will add 4-20 percent to a bill and say it's for using a card. This was hilarious because I didn't use my card at a single place. And they always refused to remove the card charge. Then, many of them will add up to 20 percent for a forced tip. Idk if that's what happened here because I was refused a receipt, but I'm sure their doing the same thing as every other restaurant in this area. read more

OMG!! The best, hands down pastrami sandwich I've ever had... and I've had plenty. House made pastrami with caramelized onions and a house made horseradish mustard, on a hoagie bun... just too yummy!! And so huge!! I came in after a great hike in the cold and snow, starving, and I ended up taking half home.. darn! lol And the house made tomato basil soup, full of chunks of tomato and pieces of basil, hot n oh so good! Hot soup, hot pastrami sando, cold day = delicious! Service was great, tried one of the local breweries, and ended up walking there afterwards. Marionberry jam. Brought a couple of my friends for brunch and everyone ended up being very disappointed with their food and pretty much everything. The place was busy, and like so many places these days, short staffed.
