If I was rating just the food I'd give it 5 stars! My girlfriend and I walked around Roslyn to find the best breakfast to be had and ended choosing The Red Bird Cafe. Service wasn't really up to snuff as the hostess/cashier/waitperson(?) seemed to have difficulty understanding our easy off the menu order; my girlfriend and I received our hot food approximately 10 minutes apart from one another as well as our drinks. My friend received her food. Then I received my chai tea. Then I received my hot food (about ten minutes after my girlfriend got hers) and then she received her coffee. So that was odd, she certainly couldn't wait for me before beginning hers as it would have been cold. To be fair though, we did order on separate tickets. Despite this odd delivery the food was amazing and large portions and we left feeling very satisfied and happy. Would definitely return. She had the breakfast sandwich which was served with ham and lots of bacon (despite requesting only ham... it's okay we took the bacon back to the dog for a special treat.) I had the Bird's Nest Stacker (filled with ham and havarti cheese! super yummy!) Tons of meat on both our breakfasts (in response to Kaleb's review of skimpy on meat) ... not our experience at all It was glutonously wonderful! read more

Passing through and found this cafe through Yelp. The very best Monte Cristo I've ever had!! The butternut squash soup was delicious as well. Glad we only live 1 1/2 hours away. Will definitely be back soon!!! read more

Stopped in for breakfast on our way home from a girls weekend. Eclectic vibe with a great menu. Had the breakfast Sammie with sausage on an English muffin. It was super tasty. Warning - the sausage patty is huge! Bottomless drip coffee was hot and yummy (Batdorf & Bronson) and you serve yourself so no waiting for more! Our waitress was literally running her butt off taking orders ringing orders getting water and food. She was great! Be patient, it's a smallish cafe and they work hard on your food. Totally worth the wait! I will come back with my hubby. They make egg in toast so he will be happy! read more

Everything from scratch! We enjoyed the gluten free hot pastrami with melted Swiss and caramelized onions. A side of cascade potato chips and a Diet Coke made the meal remarkable. Visited on Saturday morning 9am after spending time in Suncadia. It took an hour to get served Chile Relleno. The menu incorrectly described it as "chilies" indicating more than one. They forgot the toast that came with my husbands meal. read more

Best tasting Monte Cristo sandwich ever, for me! I've had bigger, but not better! My husband enjoyed a pastrami hash & egg breakfast. Very different from anything I had seen previously. Good quality meat and robust flavor. The decor is homey & eclectic. The kitchen quite small. Only the owner was working when we were there. This is a new cafe that excels in their Coffee! Best coffee in the area, including Cle Elum (and I am a picky coffee snob). They also serve sandwiches, croissants, and baked goods. They are located in an old victorian house and have a small town/ cute atmosphere. read more

They were out of a lot on things. Half the menu was off limits. When we finally found something to order they came back 20 minutes later and told us they were out of something else. Not to mention, all we ordered were sandwiches and it took 35 minutes for us to get our food. The restaurant was not full and it was prime lunchtime hours, I expected more. read more

Besides having really yummy food, our server let us stay after she had closed and helped us find a locksmith in the area when our phones weren't working, (we locked our car keys in the trunk). She even pulled out her personal AAA card for us to use. We're from Seattle and it was so kind of her to share her resources with us. Can't speak highly enough of this place!! read more

A great cafe with delicious fresh food and a kids play area. A note about their biscuits and gravy- I don't usually order this at restaurants because I'm a snob about it and don't want to be disappointed. They totally rock the B&G. Loved this place. Great sandwiches on top-notch hoagie rolls. White or wheat. The bagna beef (yes, as in bagna cauda) is packed with great flavor, a unique dish. This is by far, the best place to eat in Roslyn. Really fresh, quality ingredients, and creative flavor combinations. I had the bacon apple butternut squash soup and the BLT. Husband had the bagna beef sandwich. Sampled a chili relleno they are considering as a new menu item. All delicious. Excellent really, and totally unexpected in this area. Good coffee (which is otherwise unavailable in this region). Picked up a cinnamon roll to go. Super friendly owners, great service. Cute place. Been to lots of places in the Roslyn/Cle Elum area, this is the best. If you're staying at the resort, skip the over priced boring resort food and head into town! Affordable, good variety. Worst coffee I've ever had. I asked for a iced vanilla coffee and the lady put half a shot of espresso, milk and no vanilla flavoring. It tasted like burnt milk and the white chocolate mocha was disgusting. Never going here again! read more

Here's the deal - when you don't want to feel like you are eating out in a restaurant that is just heating up ingredients go here. Amanda and her team make it clear that they care about the quality of your meal. Here are a few of my favorite things inside this cool cafe. The best biscuits and gravy! These flakey buttery biscuits are topped with one of the most delightful gravies' I have had outside of my mother's kitchen. They don't skimp on the sausage and it has just perfect amount of spice to wake your mouth up. The jam pots are delicious - they take the buttermilk biscuit and smoosh yummy jams in a variety of flavors (strawberry is my fav) for a perfect combination. We went for lunch during the very busy 4th of July weekend. The place was extremely busy so it took a bit longer for them to take our order. We ordered the Glondo and the Hot pastrami sandwiches and they were huge, even the 6" choice. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and their baked goods looked amazing but after the sandwiches there was no room for them! This is a must when in Roslyn. read more

The Red Bird is a really great cafe. My friend came over for coffee the other morning and brought scones and cinnamon rolls. They were super delicious:) I took a couple of friends in the other day and we had a very tasty lunch. We shared soup, salad, and sandwiches. They prices are reasonable and the ingredients are fresh. I really like that they always have a vegan soup offering. I would definitely recommend The Red Bird if you are in Roslyn:) ps. My friend stayed in the lodging upstairs. It's called The Spruce Moose. The food was super yummy. The only reason it doesn't get a five is because it took forever to get the delicious food! The service was slow but friendly and we were offered free pastries during the wait. Got right in and it didn't seem that busy! Saturday, mid-day, it was surprisingly unoccupied. Maybe 4 tables including ours were occupied at the time. Went here and three of us all ordered different things. We were seated outside, in very windy weather. The "owner" or manager, was rather short in responses and lacking any emotion besides annoyance, and said she'd have someone meet us outside. The tables are also so rickety, and bend under weight. We ordered lavender lemonades, which were very good! However, TWO tables had been seated and served after us, and one of the two had already finished, paid, and left. At one of those tables, the "manager" had complained about wrapping up a sandwich for someone, saying "Yeah, I guess, but I'm handling money so I don't want to touch it" Both the customer and the manager fumbled with the sandwich, where she increasingly became frustrated and said "Well, I just touched it." And continued wrapping the sandwich. I'm assuming she didn't feel like saying "Sure, I'll wrap it, let me go wash my hands." Because customer service sure is difficult! After about forty five minutes of waiting, with a confused waitress that would every so often refill our barely touched waters, our lemonade long gone, we finally got our food. I wish I had thought to take a picture at the time, but we had been so hungry I think that was our last thought in mind. I had the biscuits and gravy, which was exactly as it's named. Served in a bowl, it was rather similar to a canned meal for a cat. It was warm, not hot, and the bacon was so floppy and wet (I did not request any specific bacon orders, though). Two friends had had a breakfast sandwich that looked pretty alright, but were small and lacking fresh quality for the price being charged. We were abandoned from there on. We waited another 15 minutes after we had stopped eating and the waitress had collected some of our plates (at this point we did start timing it) before we had to stop the waitress during one of her many water rounds and ask if we pay inside. She told us "Oh, yeah." and we paid and left. For the quality, amount, and service, it was way overpriced and not worth it. I HONESTLY have had better at diners like Dennys and IHOP. And that's saying a lot. Will not return. read more
