Was really excited to eat here because reviews were good for the most part. We ordered the Tuscan Sun pizza and the Gorgonzola salad with added grilled shrimps. My review is strictly based on these two items. The Gorgonzola Salad was just ok, but for over $10 it was not worth it for the portion we got. The added grilled shrimps for the salad was a joke! They brought them on a separate plate and had probably ten little grilled shrimps on it. What was worse was they were not fresh! This is obvious because the shrimps were chewy like tough rubber and meat was translucent. They were clearly from poor quality frozen bag of little shrimps. For a place known for pizzas, our Tuscan Sun was so dry because there were barely any sauce or cheese on it. Other toppings were generously however. How can they get it so wrong! I'm guessing because it's July 4 weekend and they were extremely busy, the quality suffered? You might wonder why we didn't bring this up to the waitress...well, she didn't come by to check on us. The fact that we were tired and hungry, we didn't want to deal with the hassle. One more thing...there were a lot of flies in the restaurant and a nuisance since we constantly had to wave them off. Great varieties of pizza with fresh ingredients. Why 3 stars? Pizza came out a bit lukewarm and service was mediocre. Oddly small glasses water leave you wanting more water as you enjoy the pizza and the staff didn't come by very frequently. We also had the watermelon gezpacho...great flavor, refreshing on a hot day. Restaurant was clean, but had some flies inside at our table for our party of 8. Let me start out by saying that I haven't always had a four star worthy experience here, sometimes it's been more like a three, but my last experience there a week ago prompted me to write this review. It was the best experience I've had there! The food was excellent. We got the soup/salad combo to share as a starter. My boyfriend had the clam chowder, which had large clams and fresh dill and was delicious. My caeser was also great. Crispy romaine and just enough garlic. I really liked it, though people who like a lot of anchovy in their caeser might not, as it was very light on the anchovy. We got the Italiano pizza as our second course. It has pepperoni, salami, pepperoncini, black olives and red onions. It was hot, crispy, and perfect. It's important to note that they serve "New Haven Style" pizza, which has a very thin crust, so if you prefer thick crust pizza, this might not be the place for you. Another one of my favorite places to eat in Sonoma! If your craving pasta, pizza or a great salad - you need to come here. The first time I came I had their chicken sandwich; the second time I tried their margarita pizza - AMAZING! And the last time I was there I had the south west chicken salad. If you think you can't get full off of salad (which is what I thought) so wrong! I was amazed at their generous portion. The salad was delicious; not too over the top with dressing (I usually ask for the dressing on the side) but everything about this dish was well proportioned. Excellent food and good service! We arrived just before the big dinner crowd, and got seated right away. The menu looked interesting with the variety of food and the wide choice of pizzas. Burrata was excellent! Innovative take with apples (the fruit can change with the season) and very spreadable on the crostini. Tomato basil soup is also good - and not the usual version either! This is truly one of the best pizza restaurants North of the Golden Gate. I live in Sonoma and believe me when I say, the owner Sam Morphy has gone above & beyond to create a very warm and friendly environment with the very best food! Being a Philly girl and living just minutes from Tacconelli's, it's VERY hard to impress me with good thin crust. RUN TO GET THIS PIZZA. it was AMAZING. I know what I'm talking about. This establishment is so warm and inviting. And the menu looked awesome. Had a glass of Riesling which was nice and cold and fruit forward. We started with the beet salad - this dish was ok. I wasn't a big fan of the greens they used but the beets were tasty. Next we had the mushroom pizza. What an utter disappointment. I am not a fan of the cracker crust - I prefer a bit of puff to mine. The sauce was non existent. And the pizza was overwhelmed by the mushrooms. I guess if you are a huge mushroom fan then go for it, but I like a pizza to have a balance. Where you can taste the sauce, cheese, and mushroom. Not a fan of one overwhelming component. A Very homey/local pizza place without seeming too pretentious (not that pizza joints commonly are). The pizza's are mainly thin crust style, amongst some of the best thin crust pizza i've ever had. They also serve a wide assortment of preconceived combinations, and if you can't find one you like on there, create your own. Price's aren't as cheap as say round table or domino's, but then again, this is no fast food chain either. I would recommend anyone who wants a good pizza to stop by. read more

My Husband and I came in a week ago and had the best time. The food was amazing! I got a Cesar Salad, he got the Butternut Squash soup. It was an amazing start! We also split a pizza, half clams and half mushroom... That was amazing! We shared a bottle of wine and a dessert at the end. From start to finish our food was excellent. As far as service goes.. It was amazing one of the best experiences I have ever had. Our server, whose name is Megan, was new but I wouldn't have guessed it for anything. She was very attentive and helpful throughout the entire meal. She was very out going and easy to talk to. She made our experience. I will definitely be back and when I do I will ask for Megan. I was on a wine tasting trip and I was really excited about eating pizza at this place because it was around the corner from my hotel and when i got there I was told by an employee that the restaurant closed at a varied time which is bad business ethic. We were guests for dinner at the delightful Red Grape Pizzeria on Saturday night. Locally owned, Red Grape is family restaurant serving a variety of pizzas (about 20 different ones) and pastas as well as salads. We had a large group, and we were able to make a reservation, so we were immediately seated. The servers, waiters and bus staff were all attentive and helpful. We had a variety of pizzas and salads at the table. The Caesar salad was an ordinary rendition of the classic - chopped crisp romaine tossed in Caesar dressing with parmesan cheese and some crostini. The spinach salad was delicious and more interesting - tender baby spinach tossed in a vinaigrette with some onions, pecans and blue cheese. Delicious. I tasted only white pizzas, and I definitely had my favs. The thin crispy crust was excellent on every pizza, but I did not like some of the toppings. I was not a fan of the clam pizza. The pear-gorgonzola pizza was okay, but the smokiness of the bacon on top of it overwhelmed the pear and the other cheeses masked the gorgonzola. The spinach-housemade sausage pizza was tasty, but it was a little boring. I should have tossed some red pepper flake on it. The thick cut prosciutto with tangy goat cheese and pepper-y arugula were a perfect match - I would get that again. The best pizza was the mediterranean with loads of roasted veggies, pesto and feta. We came here based just on proximity to where we parked... We didn't do much research because we were hungry and figured it would probably be fine. We opted to sit inside, however there were a lot of flies in the dining room and we kept having to shoo them away from ourselves and our food. The server did not ask if we were ready to place our order and seemed to be in a big hurry and just kept saying "next" even though half of our party wasn't sure what to get yet. I am only giving 2 stars because they advertise "New Haven Style Pizza" It's NOT. Crust too thin, no chew, not black on bottom NOT like anything on Wooster St. or anywhere else in NH for that matter. Red Grape is right off the main plaza in Sonoma. This place is great in atmosphere and food and service. We ate outside in the patio - had about a 15 minute wait to be seated outdoors, but would have had immediate seating to eat inside. Definitely worth the wait for the lovely patio dining experience. I had the Radiatore and Sundried Tomato Pesto dish - yummy (but a little too oily/greasy), and hubby had the Sonoma special pizza. Super thin crust and he loved it. The house Cabernet was delicious. This wasn't bad, but I had a disappointing experience when I ordered the southwest salad and they were out of avocado. I ended up with the gorgonzola salad, which was actually our favorite item we tried. We got half Tuscan sun and half Mediterranean pizza- the Tuscan sun was better, but the crust was disappointing. This is more of an extremely thin, cracker thin and crunchy crust- I'm a fan of thin crust like Neapolitan pizza but this didn't really feel like a pizza to me. This should be called flat bread pizza maybe? We also tried the truffles onion rings at the recommendation of the server and they were good onion rings but I don't know why they called them truffled. I tasted hardly any truffle flavor- apparently the salt is truffle salt. Don't expect it to be in the oil as it is with fries. Oh yeah! We happened on this resto (with the help of our iPhone mobile app :) and we were not disappointed! It is located just off the Sonoma Plaza on 1st St. West. We were there without reservations for a late lunch (around 1:30p) and without delay my family of three was seated at a quiet table in a little alcove off the main restaurant. The ambiance of this spacious restaurant was accented with red and lovely j-u-s-t in season red tulips on each table. The service is prompt, friendly and efficient. We had a pizza, a pasta dish, and a sandwich preceded with sweet potato fries as an appetizer. The sweet potato fries were some of the best anywhere! Skinny, served with white sauce (didn't try it, so I could maximize my sweet potato experience) looked good. If you are a thin crust pizza fan, this is the place to be! The crust was potato chip thin (not salty like a chip, though), so it was not so doughy you got stuffed after the first piece. It made the pizza, really! So good! My pasta was good and just the right portion (butternut squash raviolis). The last dish was the delectable pork with brie sandwich with a VERY good cole slaw (you can also choose to have a green salad if you wish. We loved our experience! Our last minute day trip to Sonoma really turned into a nice trip with a filling lunch and great service! You can bet we will stop by again the next time we are in Sonoma! read more

We stumbled upon the Red Grape today while shopping around Sonoma. We usually go to the Mexican Restaurant, Maya, but they had a "flue fire" and are temporarily closed. I hear they will be reopening in a month. Anyway, the Red Grape was really good. While not 5 stars, they earned a good 4! We sat outside at a bistro table and were immediately greeted by our waiter, who was excellent. My boyfriend had the meatloaf special that came with a wedge salad and a dessert. I had the Tuscan Sun pizza that came with artichokes, sundried tomatoes, spinach, basil, olives, and cheese/tomato sauce. Absolutely FANTASTIC!! The pizza is very thin crust so don't expect thick crusts here. This was a good thing because you don't get that "too much bread" bloat. My boyfriend's dinner was awesome too with his meatloaf coming in a puff pastry over whipped potatoes and gravy. He loved it. We split an ice cream sandwich with 2 chocolate cookies and ice cream in the middle (this came with his dinner special) and it was so yummy. Never had an empty soda glass either. After a day of wine-touring, we stumbled upon the red grape and decided to give it a try, not knowing what to expect. While we were perusing the menu, we noticed a picture of Pepe's Pizzeria in Connecticut. Being from new england, and having once been to pepe's at the urging of a friend from CT, i immediately knew that we were either in for some very good pizza, or a terrible imitation. Luckily it was the former - the pizza was a very yummy take on the conn. style classic, but with a few california twists thrown in. The service was very friendly, and we had a delightful conversation with the folks sitting at the table next to us. Food: They have thin (kind of cracker-ish, but not quite that crispy) crust pizza that my husband loved (he let me have a taste and, for pepperoni pizza, I thought it was decent.) I ordered the shrimp linguini and almost finished the whole bowl! There were quite a few shrimp and the pasta tasted homemade (though I'm sure it wasn't, but it was still tasty.) Very good thin crust pizza in downtown Napa. We went with a party of 12 for our reservation and were promptly seated. Quick, friendly service, a nice dining room (outdoor patio was closed) and some really good food. We shared many pizzasa along with some salads. Everything was really good and not much left on the table! They model the pizza after New Haven ,CT style. While it is not nearly as good as Pepe's or Sallys in New Haven, I have no compliants. Ingredients were fresh and crust was perfect. I prefer the bottom a bit more charred and crispy...but all good! Salads were delicious (we had the mixed and the caesar). They have really fabulous pizza, actually they just have fabulous everything! Honestly when I go I usually end up with the gorgonzola salad because its so darn good I can't stay away from it. But my husband(and pretty much everyone else I know) loves their pizza. So do I! They have great indoor and outdoor seating, with a bar. Friendly service, and I see the owner there often so you know the business is important to them. My favorite pizzas are the pear and gorgonzola, Prosciutto and Goat Cheese, and Margherita. My husband is a huge fan of the BBQ Chicken, Bacon and Caramelized Onion, and Buffalo Chicken. First off, let me say, thin crust pizzas are my weakness. We came here for a post wedding rehearsal lunch, and they did a really nice job accommodating our group. We were in kind of an odd t-shape, but at least we had a somewhat private area blocked off. Spinach salad (with bacon!) and Cesar salads were well seasoned but not too overdressed. For pizzas, the crusts were all nice and thin, not greasy or soggy... 1. BBQ chicken - my favorite - with big chunks of pulled bbq chicken breast, bacon, lots of sauce. 2. Margherita - fresh tomatoes, basil, needed a bit more salt 3. Funghi - awesomely mushroomy, and garlic chips really make the dish 4. Sonoma - pepperoni, sausage, tomato sauce base - better for meat lovers They were able to keep up pretty well with the beer and drink orders for our party of 30. FOOD: My friend had some stuffed shells that she was not pleased with, but my husband and her husband had some burgers they loved with some pretty amazing fries! If you rated this place on their fries, it would be a 5. I had the feed store pizza which was a great concept, but just needed a bit more of the cheese. AMBIANCE: So interesting, there are nice menu item choices in a quaint downtown Sonoma, but the restaurant kind of gives you a high end chain type restaurant. Nice looking place but rent must be high as the portions are extremely small. Taquitos appetizer were four thumb size tacos for 12.95. Pizza, one size fits all was a small pizza for 18.95. Caesar salad was 6.25 for a small. It was good and decent size. Pizza was tasty but not for size and price. The waitress did ask how the appetizer was so I told her how disappointing it was. The place was busy so it took a little while for the pizza to arrive, but it was understandable and I didn't mind. The sausage was a little sweet, not too spicy, and juicy too. And there was plenty of it on the pizza! The mushrooms added a nice earthiness that balanced out the sausage. Service was pretty attentive. Red Grape is a local favorite if you want thin crust pizza. There are several pizza places in Sonoma, but this one has the best thin crust. The dinner salads are served family style so they are meant to be shared (ie, large) and very good, fresh ingredients. This is a kid-friendly establishment so if you are looking for a quiet dinner, this is not your place. Also, if you are looking for a cheap pizza night, this is not your place. The quality of the pizza is definitely worth the price, in my opinion. Faves of our's are the Pear and Gorgonzola pizza and the Thai chicken pizza. You can also get whole wheat crust if you'd like! Super friendly staff! That was honestly the best part of the restaurant. We had three people stopping by frequently to refill beverages, clear plates and just check in on us. They were so nice that I didn't have the heart to voice any complaints because they did nothing wrong. The execution of the actual food was the issue. There was a dead fly in my salad which was quite unappealing. Make sure to rinse the lettuce well! I also got the capellini which was not great either. I had a large congealed clump of pasta that was quite chewy, while the rest of the noodles were slightly over cooked. They kept breaking when I tried to twirl. The other dishes were better but not by much. Pizza was the highlight of the meal. Pretty good.
