Had dinner here with my mother and sister a few days ago. It was not too crowded when we arrived and we were able to sit outside. Once we were seated, the bad service began. Our waitress took a looong time to get to us - this is always a pet peeve of mine. At least stop by just to get the drink order! By the time she did get to us, she didn't even ask for our drink order - she just said she would be right back. Five minutes or more later, she returns and takes our order. We got our drinks and the appetizers did not take too long to come out. Though once we got the plates, our waitress quickly runs off before I even have time to tell her that one of the appetizer plates is dirty. We had the squash blossoms as an appetizer, which were completely overwhelmed by the amount of cheese. Our pizzas took a long time to come out and once they did, our waitress once again ran off and did not even offer to bring us clean plates. The prosciutto on our pizza was also not fresh - my mom picked it off. Our waitress was basically non-existent throughout our dinner, while I saw all the other tables getting attended - maybe this is just the fault of one waitress. Once we were about to leave, my sister decided to use the restroom - they have a single stall by the kitchen and many stalls outside, to be shared with the other businesses. You need a key to get to the one outside, but since the one by the kitchen had a line, my sister asked for the key to use the other. When she finished, she noticed about 4 girls standing outside the bathroom, when only one of the stalls was being used within the room (they couldn't get in without the key that my sister had). As my sister lets everyone in and starts walking towards me, she comments that this procedure is very silly and inefficient. Then a sassy waitress walks by and decides to address her comment (even though my sister was NOT talking to her) and starts defending their stance in a very rude way, saying that the owner of the place won't let them have another key. I honestly do not care what the restaurant's issue is with the bathroom, but do NOT get an attitude with a customer just for making a comment about it! If you feel compelled to say something, as someone in the service industry, then I would go with something more like "I know, I'm really sorry. We are really working on trying to get an extra key... etc". But clearly this restaurant does not know how to treat their customers. The manager of this establishment really needs to give the staff some talking to. I will not be returning. read more

Excellent thin crust pizza margherita, tasty fresh toppings and an amazing tender but thin crust. Pork & brie pannini was excellent, if not just a tad too rich! Needed a spicy mustard to cut the buttery richness of the brie. Caesar salad was very good, ice tea was very good. Tiramisu for dessert I would probably not get again - after seeing the HUGE slice of carrot cake the next table over got. Ambiance was very casual, crowd was pretty varied from couples to groups of mommies and babies. Interesting decor with wall murals echoed in the etched glass along the windows. And windows - lots of them! So much natural light, high ceilings, skylights, clean lines and very comfortable booths. Probably one of the most comfy booths we've sat in - very nice plus. Service was VERY efficient, if just a little more impersonal than I usually like. I think that falls on the personality of the server, though, as he was on the spot with everything. I think the Margherita Pizza is a good test of a pizzerias mettle and the Red Grape made one that was heavenly. I highly recommend The Red Grape Pizzeria for lovers of thin crust pizza. Everyone in our party of four (and a toddler) loved everything about our meals here. Really great thin crust pizza, about as fresh as it gets. While staying in Napa, we headed over to Sonoma for the evening and stopped for dinner. Menu wasn't too extensive, but offered a good variety of options, all of which I'm sure are great. I got a pizza with Sausage, Mushrooms, and Olives on it. Everything was so fresh, and the consistency of the crust of the pizza reminded me much like when I went to Italy. My brother got the salmon, which was very artfully presented. Been here twice in 3 weeks. The service is always great. They are great about letting you try the wine before settling and are very accommodating even when it's busy. Have had a few of the pizzas. All were good but I felt they were lacking a little something... just a little more flavor. The crust was great and crispy on the edges and held up under the toppings. Caesar salad was fresh, but again I felt it just needed a little something. The octopus appetizer was good. Good compilation of the smokey grilled octopus and the fruit and the crisp earthy greens. There wasn't a ton of octopus in it. I think we each got about 4 bite sized pieces. I will be back because I wanna try something other than their pizza! I'd visited here before and wasn't all that impressed the first time however my second visit today was totally different! I ordered the Sonoma Pizza and a caesar salad and they both turned out delicious! I'm a little picky about my caesar's and not a huge fan of super thin crust pizza but they were excellent! My boyfriend ordered the linguini and shrimp pasta and it definitely needed more flavor. I'd stick to the pizza and salads if your looking for a moderately priced good food with a relaxed atmosphere. Lots of pizza choices, both red and white selections. Lots of interesting combinations of ingredients. I also really like the salmon nicoise salad -- nice piece of salmon, hard cooked egg, kalamata olives, green beans, potato wedges -- very filling. There are always a few monthly specials as well. Staff is friendly and efficient and the food arrives in a timely manner. The kitchen is accommodating as well -- I enjoy the Southwestern chicken salad, but ask for a hard cooked egg instead of chicken -- no problem. Prices are reasonable. Reasonably decent menu, but nothing to write home about. The staff are very professional, and made up for our being seated by the entrance to the bathrooms. Don't order the grilled salmon with cous-cous. The salmon is either undercooked, or, after it has been returned to the kitchen, burned. First, As we walked in the ambiance was friendly and the restaurant was very clean, which I appreciated. We started of with two Arnold Palmers,now, my boyfriend works at a coffee shop and he makes this drink for a living.However, he had to admit that these particular ones were the best he's EVER had. They're just simply refreshing and delicious. The service was quick and very friendly. We enjoyed watching the staff socializing with each other in a respectful manner. The Red Grape has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a kid. It is the best spot in Sonoma to go for great food and professional service. The food is phenomenal! Their thin crust pizzas are divine and keeps you wanting more and more! I can only vouch for their salads and pizzas. They have several options available including gluten free options. We ordered the pan fried Brussel sprouts as well as the margarita pizza. Both were amazing!! The pizza crust is the perfect thickness and has a wonderful crunch. Had lunch here about a week ago. Told the server we were in a hurry because we were running late (our own fault) and food came out fast and delicious! I had their new Porchetta sandwich and it was delicious! Expect it to be rich, but what else WOULD you expect? My fiancé (such a fancy title) had the gorgonzola salad which she also enjoyed. 4 stars is an appropriate rating for my visit today for lunch to the Red Grape. Food was delicious, a cup of chicken coconut curry soup and quiche with a green side salad. 5 star ratings all the way on the food. Service however is a 4! What I like best about the RG is the consistency of delicious food and off the chart salads but I'm equally always giving the service 3-4 star rating. Cute little pizza place in downtown Sonoma. It was easy to get a table for two around 7pm on a Thursday night and we were seated right away. My friend and I ordered the Primavera pizza to share. It comes with mushrooms, roasted red and yellow peppers, sweet red onion, broccoli, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, and parmesan. The Red Grape features 'New Haven" style pizza. Unlike Chicago style pizza, New Haven pizza is not an American invention, but a borrowing from a style popular in Rome and other parts of northern Italy. Lacking any kind of crown, the crust is almost cracker like. Evidently, sought after by many including an Italian teacher friend of ours who works in Oakland and summers in her family home in Rome. She makes a special trip to Sonoma just for this pizza. I personally like thick crust; however, the Red Grape pizza can be very tasty. Depending on the toppings it can also be very dry. However with judicious meat selections it is quite satisfying. My four star rating is for the pizza only, the remainder of the menu is just so so. read more
