I really enjoy the Red Hut Salad with the Poppy Seed dressing. One of the best salads around.

I expected more to be honest. Chicken and waffles is pre-made chicken tenders and a waffle. The hut salad is totally not worth the price of $14. Save you and your family money and eat at costco down the street or somewhere else. Sorry Red hut. read more

The food is good. The service is ok. Kind of like a Dennys or a ihop. I had a burger , also ate part of my sons grilled cheese. The ice cream is really good. Little loud from oldies juke box near us. The owners of the building should remove the old gas pumps outside. They look unsightly. read more

This establishment was a great disappointment, My wife and I have had breakfast here before ,when in town, but this was lunch time and maybe that made the difference. My egg salad sandwich was supposed to have crumbled Bacon and it came with sliced bacon,Hard to eat,lots of mustard and very watery, the lettuce on the sandwich was kale and it was brown from being cut days before. very unappetizing. My wife ordered a cheese ,tomato,avocado sandwich and after biting into sandwich she found out the Avocado was decayed, totally un acceptable . after informing kitchen we didnt even get as much as an apology, I should send along a picture so they could see the image of a customer they will never see again. if you eat here tear your sandwich apart and look at the ingredients ,they may be unacceptable. read more

The service was ok.I think I saw the bus person more than I seen our waitress. Food came out super fast . I had the best pumpkin pancakes I had ever had before .The coffee wasn't great and the chorizo patties were to salty. I'm a huge fan of chorizo. I make chorizo and eggs all the time . The food at Redhut has always been good But I've never done food for pick up before. Ordered a side of bacon with the usual and paid over five dollars for three pieces of bacon. That's not OK. If the food wasn't good they would only be getting one star. read more

Have always had breakfast here and was never disappointed, but came in for lunch last Monday and didn't much care for it. My husband ordered the turkey/cranberry sandwich and I asked for the egg salad sandwich. His order arrived without the sandwich cut completely and everything on it was mounded in the center of the bread. My egg salad had so much mustard in it that it was actually mustard yellow...couldn't finish it. I will stick to breakfasts only from now on. read more

Nice little spot for a quick lunch in Tahoe. Our grilled cheese and BLT sandwiches were delicious. Service was quick and very friendly. Cute little gift shop in cafe. Ice cream counter on the other side of cafe. We had the rocky road sundae. Hot fudge was the best ever! read more

Very disappointed. Returned this morning because it has always been good previously. I got a waffle, which was just that, only a waffle , for $9.50. Husband got a patty melt. Very blah in appearance, colorless, and the patty itself was grey and tasted like it had been cooked with sausage. Plate had a scant handful of fries on it. I am a usual in Tahoe and was super disappointed with the service in Carson City!!! Estimated time for a to go pick up tripled while I was waiting, No explanation, no apology, not a single word during a 45 minute wait for to go... Being excited to finally get my food, I leave after paying,and miles down the road realize they left out an entire "usual"... So I call and come back to pick it up and when I arrive there was not a single apology, not a single word or even a response to me when I told them they left out one of my usual's... I've never had an experience like this out of 15 years of coming to Red Hut. It hurts me to leave such a negative review for a favorite spot... I think I'll stick to my local spot in Tahoe. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here today. Food was overpriced and just BAD. His burger tasted frozen. My fries were inedible. The food had no flavor. I could have made my sandwich at home for a fraction of the cost. The ranch was disgusting. And all the server did was take our order and bring us our food. She didn't offer us anything or ask us how the food tasted. When she put our check on the counter, she didn't even say "have a nice day". We both left with our plates still half full and very disapppointed. Oh, and we're both sitting on the couch right now with gnarly stomach aches! Pretty low on the breakfast totem pole of life. My "well-done" hashbrowns soaked in "butter-flavored" griddle grease. Just cook the hashbrowns longer, I'll wait, don't soak them into submission and move them to the hot side of the griddle. I'm no Jeffrey Steingarden but you have to breakfast with some semblance of caring. This was classic trucker crap from a restaurant which I thought took pride in the breakfast trade. Certainly the Tahoe Red Huts do, so what's a little mountain pass got to do with it? Quality should be the same, not 10 times worse! My biscuits and gravy were the saddest milky spackle of a goo ever and unseasoned to boot. You'd think if you were going to fuck something up, it wouldn't be this but oh yeah it was nasty. Tasted like the gravy had once begun as powder, just like the biscuits. Rising from powder to be an attempt at food. Sorry, Red Hut, you left me bitter, with a metallic taste in my mouth, which bugged me all day! what the hell was in that breakfast. When I need to take revenge against a mortal enemy, I will gladly send them to your sad semblance of a breakfast house. I hope you get the message and improve your dismal foodservice. read more

Went there yesterday, looking forward to a nice breakfast ... Food is always good, and was yesterday as well....however, isn't it always that much more enjoyable when the service shines as well as the meal??? Our waitress Jess, ( which we have had b4 ) was terrible ... She has to be the laziest waitress I have ever seen. Zero coffee refills, asked for to go box, never got them (from her ) , never ever once came back to check on us, or ask how anything was!!!! Really??? Why am I tipping you again?????? Get off your butt & do your job! Thank god for the other lovely waitress that helped us with everything JESS did not. I requested my tip be given to her , when the hostess notified me that they pool there tips. Well no wonder you don't do anything when the other one will do it for you, & you still get half the money???? It is a shame I won't be going back due to the service, because I like the place & the food... The food is average. The service is pretty terrible. This is my second time visiting this location and the service was lackadaisical both times. We tried to eat a late breakfast there today, but the waitstaff simply sat us and forgot us. After 10 minutes, we left. read more

Finishing up our vacation in Lake Tahoe and stopped by here. Food is great. Just like the other ones we've eaten at. Best waffles ever. The rest of the food was also great. We had a group of ten and were seated right away. This is the biggest difference than the other ones. Plenty of parking and seating. Love this place. read more

Took my wife and three kids to try out the Red Hut. Service was decent and the kids really enjoyed the ice cream counter. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and was really disappointed. You get a low-quality fast food type beef patty that was obviously frozen. For the price I paid I would have expected something a little fresher instead of walmart quality frozen patty. Wife had a decent salad, no complaints from her. Will have to try their breakfast, but won't be having lunch there again. read more

It was a busy Saturday morning and we were pleased to be seated right away. The service was quick but the food was a serious disappointment. My wife's breakfast was unremarkable and bland except for a good chicken-apple sausage. The blackened pork sausages stood out on my plate. The skinless links were burned on the outside, but the pancakes looked good. When I had to use a knife to cut them I found that the bottoms of both were burned. The waitress didn't question why the mound of blackened and uneaten food remained. Plenty of employees bustling around the place, but maybe not enough of them in the kitchen to see that the food is right. read more

I had the worse experience at this restaurant on Monday. The service was terrible! No extra coffee brought by wait staff completely ignored us the whole time! Food was cold, hash browns were undercooked, bacon completely greasy and not cooked! When I brought it to the manager's attention she said "Well if you don't like it don't come back!" Well we were minus one kid for the afternoon so we figured we would pop in here. My hubby took one look at the menu and they had him at Bacon Waffle. He basically floated into the restaurant at this point with his nose directing him :). It was almost closing time and yet they seated and served us. The bacon waffle was divine - next time I'm having the coconut waffle... We also split a chocolate milkshake and they made a little itty bitty one for my toddler - with whipped cream and a cherry on top. He was so excited! It was very good. The reason for 4 stars is although the burger was good, it wasn't 5 star worthy or really 4 for that matter...my heart belongs to Firkin Fox when it comes to burgers... But the place is worthy of 5 stars for their fantastic and friendly service and super yummy waffles... We will be back :) read more

This place has a good vibe when you go in, but for us the magic ended. The service was mediocre at best, no one seemed to really care a whole lot about getting anywhere quickly. Our server didnt know what salad dressings they had and never bothered to find out for me. The food was okay, but my husband kept saying that he had hoped this would have been a lot better. The salad dressing i did end up getting was gross and the 5 bucks for a tiny little salad was rediculous. The fries were good. But for 40 bucks we can definitely do soooo much better. Ok this place has gotten sad. My husband and I was seated by a girl who made snide comments about our 2 year old and kept rolling her eyes at him. Our waitress was nice by let didn't check on our drinks until we were done with our food. The prices are ridiculous in comparison to the food. Charges an arm and a leg to put an extra ingredient in the omelet. Our waitress miss added our ticket then when we went to pay it was another 5 dollars more....... I'm very disappointed. read more

Terrible service. I went in for lunch and have 1 hour. The place was not full yet I sat at a bar stool expecting service. Three employees including what looked like the owner were standing 2 feet in front of me visiting. I sat at least 10 minutes, then left. Avoid this place. They don't give a hoot about service. They will be broke soon at this rate. I would hate to be there bankers as their lender will be looking to foreclose soon. I know this place is a local favorite but it just did not do it for me. The food honestly is average cafe food. Nothing extraordinary going on here. Portions are like most restaurants over-sized. The big downside for me was this, we were seated in a weird back room area with a cement floor in Nevada winter. So cold by the time we left my feed and legs were numb from the cold. I asked four times if they could turn up some heat but nope guess not. Also the table was so uneven that if you put your weight on it food slid down towards that end of the table. We ended up having to move tables ourselves as no employee was around despite us waiting. Service was average, our waitress was personable. I wouldn't choose to eat here again. Also very very limited on vegan fare. Not sure the waitress understood what I was asking in regards to vegan options. read more

Went for breakfast, busy as expected so there was a 15 minute wait. They did a nice job remodeling the old Woody's Diner. Typical diner breakfast but more expensive. Hash browns were perfect, eggs were cooked as ordered service was OK, but waitress seemed confused and wound up getting ticket wrong. All staff were friendly. Didn't wow me but I'd go back, and will try lunch. I'd give four stars based on food, but it was too expensive for a family breakfast. read more

All the wait staff help out each other and float tables, for the guy who said he never saw his waitress but saw all the other wait staff. THATS HOW THEY DO IT THERE.! The food is always the same.
