We took our 6 year old and 4 year old kids and the atmosphere was too notch! The servers were incredibly friendly to us and my kids. They brought the kids' food out before the adults (because let's face it, that's the smartest dining experience with hungry kids). The food was fantastic. We choose this place based on all the reviews. It has a nice energy to it. Good tunes playing in the background. The menu is limited, but I think they executed what was on it well. I enjoyed the smash burger. The fries had a really good flavor. My husband had the Octoberfest burger. He said it was good, but the brat in it could have work. The cheese curds were hot and very spicy! I really didn't care for the margarita. The flavor combination for me just wasn't appealing and I really didn't think it was a strong drink. Great smash burgers! Would absolutely eat again. Also they do takeout. Fast and friendly service. Local dive kind of place in a strip mall. Wings are supposed to be great here. Saw several eating but we all had the burgers. Be sure to check out the burger of the month on the board. It was really good. Table behind us said flatbreads were good. We asked for the fries without Cajun seasoning and they were very good. Perfectly crisp. Onion rings were too done. Nothing special/not worth the the upcharge. read more

Go to The Reef for the smash burger. You can't go wrong there. The cajun fries on the side are also awesome. The service was fast and the food was awesome. It's a small place, but has a great interior and pool tables. I also got the cheesecake for dessert, but honestly, had to take it home and put it in the fridge for later. It was just huge and covered in chocolate. But after that awesome meal, I just didn't have the room. And did I mention that the beers are ice-cold? :) I will definitely be going back when I am back in town. read more

We are staying for 3 nights in Pensacola Beach and found this place on Yelp. We decided to have dinner here tonight and we are glad we did. It is a small locally owned place in a strip mall right across from several well known Hotel chains. We had the Brussels sprouts, shared 8 wings and Margaritas. Everything was great, reasonably priced and the service was very friendly. We can only recommend. read more

We were so lucky today the special was homemade corn dogs that were delicious . We got it as an appetizer for 4 and split it. Then we had teriyaki wings and the smash burger all excellent. First off, a restaurant called the reef, what type of food do you think it would serve? seafood? WRONG! They serve a specifically non sea food blend of american foods, i.e. beers, burgers, pizza. The room was small with not a lot of seating, but the service was good. A plus was how great the diet coke was, and with constant refills. The name could use some work though. I just cant understand why youd name a place on the beach the reef and not serve anything from the sea. A question for the philosophers perhaps, not a simple foodie such as myself. With very little notice, I needed to put together lunch for 16 people out at the beach. A friend recommended The Reef and I am so glad they did. The staff was able to get me accommodated in less than 24 hours, they even let me come in before opening to pick up lunch- excellent customer service. We had wings, garden salad, potato salad and corn nuggets- and it was perfect. The salad and sides were all solid standards but the wings are FANTASTIC!! We went twice in 48 hours! Our daughter rated their smash burger the "best restaurant burger ever." The special Summer Picnic burger tastes like summer at the ballpark! We've also tried their patty melt, chicken salad, and wings - all delicious. On our second visit, we ordered the homemade chocolate cake. We didn't have high expectations for cake at a burger spot but it was amazing and tastes just like something our grandmother made! Went here for lunch on a Sunday and was able to get a table immediately. There are 8 or so tables around the outside and a bar height counter down the middle with another 12-14 seats around it so not a huge spot. We sat ourselves in one of the free tables and our server came over fairly promptly. The burger of the month was a buffalo bleu burger, and the dessert of the month was a coconut ice cream. Both sounded pretty good, but were not the reason that I had come here. I came here for the wings. "The Breaks famous wings" to be exact. 10 large naked fried jumbo wings. I am a wings connoisseur, and these were some pretty good ones. I got them hot, and I do wish there had been more heat to it, but the flavor was really good. They come with some carrots and celery, as good wings should. The kiddos both got the chicken tender basket. One got honey bbq sauce and the other got no sauce. I wound up eating a couple of the tenders and fries and they were really good. I do believe that the tenders came from a frozen bag, but liked them none the less. Wife got the flynn's steak and cheese sub sandwich. I had her order the "whole" sub and it was quite large. The amount of meat included was also a decently large portion for the cost. One thing she did note is that whatever seasoning they use on her fries made her lips tingle. I was going to ask what they used but was instructed not to. We wound up taking half of the sandwich back to the hotel for a late night snack. Food was really good. Service was really good. I am wondering if we should try and go here again on the trip I was enjoyed it so much. Really good wings! read more

I'm cheating to four stars as a benefit of the doubt based on other reviews. I went planning to get the standard burger but they had a special. Can't remember what they called it, but it was balsamic, mozzarella, tomato, pesto on the smash burger. Sounded great so I tried it. It wasn't bad, but the problem is that the pesto and mozzarella are just too nuanced to standup to the big beef flavor of the burger so it all gets lost. All you really taste is a one dimensional beef flavor. Props to them for thinking outside the box though. Fries were awesome. I'll come back next time in PCola for the standard burger and probably at least once more for the wings read more

This is one of the best burgers I have ever had on God's green earth. I have known for years about the amazing bar next door, The Break, but I had never tried the newer Reef restaurant next door. This is a hidden gem. With a long bar heigh counter with seating for 10 and maybe 6 4-top tables, this is not a huge place but the food comes out quickly and the staff are so incredibly nice and welcoming. We wandered in here after being told of a 2 hour wait at Peg Leg Pete's. I am SO glad we did. We wound up coming back here 4 more times over our 10 day visit to Pensacola, and everything I tried on the menu here is top notch. The specialty is the double patty smash-style cheese burger (only $11 and comes with fries!). But don't discount the delicious chef's favorite italian sub sandwich, their awesome crab cakes, their incredible delectable wings with a variety of dry rub and sauce options (lemon pepper and garlic parmesan were our favorites, but all look amazing), their great fried okra...the list goes on. If it's on the menu here, I bet it's exceptional. My 10 year old daughter styles herself a burger conniseur and tries to eat at least one per day. She proclaimed ( and maintains) that The Reef has the best burger on earth, and I agree with her. The chef even came out to meet and talk with us. Do yourself a favor and visit The Reef early and often for the best burger around. We will definitely be back! read more

We've been staying in Pensacola Beach all week, and this was the best food we had all week. Service was very good also. We headed to The Reef on a beach day after everyone was getting hungry. We got there around 2:30pm and we were lucky to find a table! We ordered some beer and investigated the menu. It has been awhile since I have been here. The last time was when I was in the middle of the Pensacola Beach Burger Battle ( PBBB) and The Reef's burger came in second only to Paradise but it tied with Sidelines for the number two spot. I was planning to get another Paradise and Reef burger, but I dumped my social media after watching The Social Delima. Anyways.........back to lunch. I had heard that the wings here were great, maybe the best on the beach from multiple sources and read it from more than that. I am not going to be getting into the best wings on the beach at this time, but I might in the future. Let's talk about these. They are super crispy, like glass, in spite of being sauced well. The sauce was pretty typical buffalo sauce. It was very good but not really different from any other buffalo sauce. Tasty wings for sure and well cooked. I ordered Fried Okra for the table and everyone liked it. There was no way to know if they were breaded in house, or came frozen from Sysco. I ordered "The Best Burger On The Island" which is a double patty smash burger. The first one I ate during the PBBB was significantly better than this one, but it was still tasty. What was the difference? The char, or lack of it this time. This is still a solid burger, but if this is the norm now, Sidelines takes second place and The Reef gets third. Lastly I ordered onion rings with my burger and they were solid and well cooked. Once again, nothing to set them apart from Sysco's offerings. There was no way to tell. The Reef is a welcome Pensacola Beach restaurant and it is very good. It is just what it is. It's a great place to grab a great lunch. read more
