Love love love this bar! Anytime I need to unwind or I am having a bad day I go to see my favorite bartender Amber, who makes the most amazing shots ever! We came here after work one day because they were the only bar open and we have been coming back every Tuesday or Sunday ever since. Drinks are inexpensive and the atmosphere is great, nothing crazy just chill. If you love amazing tasting drinks go on a Friday, Sunday, or Tuesday and see Amber. Good little dive bar! A little cramped inside, but much more room outside. My wife & I came here for a couple drinks after eating at Bo Beau's a few doors down. She ordered us a couple cosmopolitans... the bartender wasn't quite sure how to make it, checked with the other bartender & then made an awesome cosmo! Best thing, he poured the vodka straight from the bottle rather than a shot glass & poured for a good 5 seconds or so... enough so, you could definitely taste the alcohol in the drink & not just some fruity thing where you mostly taste just the mix. Also nice he filled it to the top where it was spilling over & I got to sip them each down before taking them out to my wife... a little extra for me! The inside was a little noisy for us, so we headed to the patio out back which was a nice hang out. Luckily we got the table all the way in the back for a little added privacy. There were 2 people at the table near us who were on their first date & having a blast... definitely a fun environment. After 2 Cosmo's each, we walked outta there a little sloshed & wandered over to the Farmer's Table for desert (& one more drink each... lemon drop this time which was also awesome). read more

Really surprised by the customer service. The bartenders are attentive and effecient even with a packed bar. Live music sounded great, and in between sets we went out back to take in the fireplace and a casual game of pool. and the waiter even went out of his way to unstick several pool balls for us because my date and I were no pool sharks lol. Came here last night after Oktoberfest. I actually was here last year after Oktoberfest too. It brings a good crowd in here. It's one of the few bars I know of in La Mesa. Te drinks are decent and cheap. I got 4 vodka tonics and a beer for $29. Not too shabby. They have an outdoor patio in case you need a smoke or come out for some air. They don't have a DJ but they have a juke box. The fancy ones you can sync to your smart phone. A lot of girls including me wanted to dance but the song selection wasn't very danceable. Bathroom lines can get pretty long when it's crowded. There's just 1 men and 1 women's restroom. read more

I have been frequenting The Regal for a while now so I figured it was time to write a review. Hmmm where to start well the staff here is awesome extremely attentive and on point all the time even when they are busy. I have been at various hours of the day from happy hour to late night. Pricing is great especially since I work in the club scene downtown and I know how much they charge for drinks down there. My husband and I went to Regal one day for a drink and ran across the RUDEST bartender we have ever met! He literally said "What do you want?! I love the bar, especially considering what it used to be. It's got great potential and the remodel is gorgeous. Cool place. Bartenders are great. Mixture of people both old and young. Outside patio is great bring your dog!!!. Fire pit and all. Great spot to watch a game. They have an outdoor patio at the back with a projector and a fire pit. I came here during the big and nerve wracking niner and charger game. And was it packed. Easy going bar with attentive bartenders and lots of seating. Decent priced drinks as well. People here are all friendly and all want to have a good time. This place is fun - the AC is usually on - the popcorn machine is great. I'd of given it a 5 but they do put their mixed drinks in plastic cups which just feels cheap. A jack n coke deserves a cold glass, not fake plastic read more

Inexpensive drinks, cool and casual, kareoke Fridays, and great staff, what else could you want in your local bar? I hear people also go here to watch games and such during the day, but I've only been to Regal at night....many many times. When the super duper nice owner John comes up to you and hugs you when you arrive, you know you probably go there too much, but he's such a nice guy, I know he greets many customers with a warm smile and hello! And even when you sing horribly (ahem, I wouldn't know anything about that), they still don't kick you out. Ive been going to this bar for years. But recently this bad attitude bar tender LUPITA had attitude with a lot of the consumers. This place was packed with a great band Sat night! Awesome mix of people. Was pleasantly surprised to see one of my favorite bartenders Jonathan working behind the bar. They also have a decent wine selection which I totally didn't expect from a dive bar in East County. Inside was a little loud and packed but they have a huge back patio with a fire pit. Very nice! Free popcorn, free pool (weekdays), Karaoke Fridays with my man KJ Mike, Comic stand-up nights and colorful banter and clientele make the Regal my favorite bar in La Mesa. Always a dependable stop along the row of often antique-centric business on La Mesa blvd. I have grown to appreciate having a bar like this nearby. Reasonable drink prices and a very easy to talk to staff makes this place a must-hangout if you are in the area. read more

Having the Regal Bar within stumbling distance from my house is among the many reasons I love living in the neighborhood. The staff is great, the drinks are delicious and reasonably priced, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and if you need something to soak up all the booze, they have pizza to do the trick. As for entertainment, the Regal Bar has a couple pool tables, a dart board, many tvs that dont just play sports (Yay!), a juke box, and I believe they still have karaoke on fridays. The fireplace on the patio is pretty awesome and theres even another bathroom out there, gotta love that! read more

I went here Thursday the 10th with a friend to watch a Chargers game. The bar was very crowded and noisy, and there was only one bartender, but he was amazing! Even with a non-stop rush of sports fans shouting for his attention, he stayed friendly and never looked flustered or annoyed. He was always on the ball, getting orders in a timely fashion, and attentive to his surroundings. This great service alone was enough to make me want to go back. Other than that, the ambiance is very nice. It's new and modern in appearance compared to most other bars in the area. In other words, The Regal is a real sports bar, the other places are just dives. There's also a rad out door area with a fire pit. It's a very classy, open and inviting atmosphere. read more

I have been here before and usually never had any issues and its overall a nice place and cool spot for beers but last night that completely changed as I was denied service because my California driver license wasn't clear enough on the expiration date but was still valid and i never really had any problems with it . its just seen better days and could use a new one but it was good enough to get into Pete's place just fine . so i patiently waited and basically felt like humiliated as the bartender started to pester me about my i.d . He was such a douche bag and i asked for it back so I can go elsewhere but he insisted in not giving it back and making me look stupid in front of everyone so overall I left and took my business elsewhere like Pete's place . We came in on a Monday night not expecting a crowd, and I'm assuming the scheduling manager assumed the same. This place was packed! And there, working his ass off was Noah. The only person working the bar. Literally no bouncers, no bussers, and nobody else behind the bar. There were at least 30-40 people in this bar at one time, and Noah handled it like a boss. Highly recommend this bar if you're looking to unwind. And if Noah is your bar tender, tip him well. read more
