    Drinky time

What a great spot for a drink and a bite slopeside! The deck is large with lots of tables. My friend and I stopped in to give our legs a rest and have a drink. The drink selection is great, I can't wait to try the food next time!

    Bomb dog

The atmosphere is great and they often have live music. Everything on the menu is outstanding but I highly recommend the bomb dog.

I came because I heard prices were more reasonable here than the other restaurants. There is also a big banner with $3 beer all day. But after looking at the menu, I was disappointed that a cheeseburger is $21 and the cheapest item is fries for $8. It is even more expensive than Vail-operated restaurants. I know there is a Kirkwood premium because of the remoteness. But I sure would love to eat a nice hot juicy burger once in a while without breaking the bank.

Nathan's Bacon Wrapped Chili Cheese Dog and a $3 beer.

Everything you can expect from this establishment... good drinks, better food than across the way, great service and a welcoming environment.

This place on the ski slopes has $3 Modelo, a decent chicken sandwich on a terrific bun and kind servers. There is not enough seating, the fries are lacking, my bloody.mary was an inch short of reaching the top of the glass and the kitchen kept closing and reopening...blame the last bit on Covid.

This grill is a good place to get some food after skiing and relax. People drink here. I had some snacks like pretzels, wings(with the other people we were with). I got mac and cheese and didn't finish it. The next day we came back after skiing Chair 11 and Chair 1. I got tomato bisque. It's a good hut to hang out. However, the service is a bit rushed and too busy. They don't give u too much time to order and they will look away and walk away...and act too busy and it was a pain to get service. They said they closed the kitchen for 20 minutes. They are too rushed. I guess u could hire 1-3 more waiters.

    Old Fashioned.

Solid two-star dive bar, but giving them 3 stars for effort. Food is mediocre, but they tend to pour stiff drinks...cost effective at 7800' altitude. Waitress and bartenders have been great despite not having enough people. Only option on the mountain for dinner time food near the base at Kirkwood since everything else is closed.

So glad to warm up inside the bar or sit outside. BUT the pretzels, OMFG, they are better than sex. So dang good. And they give you plenty of beer cheese to dip. Wow. Now I'm ready to hit the backside. Thanks!

Is this a seasonal place? Because we stop by in October and it was pretty desolate over here in Kirkwood. No signage for this business so it was nowhere to be found. Phone was disconnected too in Oct.

Uhh it's Kirkwood. Yes it's seasonal.

When Caples got a little too expensive and Stonefly was closed and a little too far we decided to look at Kit Carson again and wow, are we happy that we did. The restaurant here has always been very beautiful, but the food's been hit and miss and sometimes expensive for what it was. The new people running Kit Carson named it Aroma and it has a wonderful menu. The serving sizes are large, the food is super tasty the service is good although timing can be a little bit off. We had to wait quite a while for the tuna dish, which was one of our parties main dish. Also, it was kind of offputting to be served the bruschetta with three pieces when we had four people and then asked if we wanted a fourth one and we were super happy to say yes but then we got served a complete another $14 plate of three which was not our intention. The server should've made that more clear also I wrongfully assumed that they were refills on ice tea since I don't recall having a regular iced tea where there wasn't. However, When asked if I wanted another one. I said yes, and was charged another four dollars which did not make me happy if I was told that I was gonna get charged four dollars for a refill I certainly would not have got one. I chalk these up to an experience server and will not hold it against the restaurant when issuing the five stars that it deserves. I would certainly order the chicken marsala again. It was absolutely delicious and super flavorful, and the Mary's chicken is high-quality. Would I have loved to have it served on mashed potatoes instead of spaghetti? Yes, but still I have a very, very lovely dish and a large serving. The shrimp provincial was creamy and lemonade, not too heavy, but reaching enough to satisfy. It comes with four medium size, shrimp, and nice mushrooms. The burger was absolutely delicious cooked to order the fries or some of the best I've ever had. I don't even know how they make them. They're so good. The tuneup starter, which was ordered as a main course was incredibly large and so good highly highly recommend. Another plus is that they have several types of nonalcoholic beer and IPA Heineken, and another one which made us super happy. I will always come here for lunch on a good day and sit outside and for dinner sitting inside their cozy dining room! Five stars all the way!

It was okay, although the buns were a bit mushy and parts of the chicken were dry. The fries weren't crispy and didn't really taste like anything. We were seated almost immediately and had a very friendly hostess and server. As a group we ordered: Nachos with beef: 5/5 yes I'm sure they get the guac and cheese premade somewhere but the portion was generous, the spice level was decent, and nachos were flavorful. Pesto chicken sliders: 5/5 best thing we ordered. Fish and chips: 4/5 run of the mill fish and chips. The breading was a little thick and the fish wasn't particularly tender but it was alright. I usually feel like places don't provide enough tartar sauce but here I had sauce left over Bloody Mary: 5/5 I don't like blood Marys and I enjoyed this one which might indicate that it wasn't good but I really liked it. My husband said it was "more vegetal than usual" and I think I don't like the overwhelming tomato taste of a usual Bloody Mary so his observation makes sense Mulled wine: 4/5 pleasantly warm and interesting in flavor. Felt comforting after skiing If this was a random restaurant in the Bay Area this review would look very different but I'm comparing it to usual fare at ski resorts; to sit down to such a nice, filling, hot meal while wearing my ski boots was such a happy time, all three of us were thrilled.

The restaurant had a 40 minute wait if you didn't have a reservation so we walked over to Monte's Wolfe's Mountain Kitchen for a quick bite. At the door, they check for your vaccination card, a picture is enough, and to be honest, they should really be checking IDs alongside the vaccination card because I could've just shown them ANY picture of a vaccination card and they gave me a sticker on my Epic Pass. So do I trust that the people in here are vaccinated? There were slim pickings on what to eat so we just grabbed chicken fingers with fries and a fried chicken sandwich which both were quite expensive, but what isn't at any resort? People seemed to be crowding at tables, luckily we found a spot far from folks but a couple people asked if they could be on the further end, so we said sure. All of a sudden they were joined for 3 more people. Thank goodness the table next to us freed up and we just moved over since we were clearly over taken by this group. The food itself was ok though the chicken fingers more tender and moist than the chicken sandwich. They ran out of ketchup from the pumping machine but they did have packets. I did appreciate the ranch cups. They had some hand sanitizers around. We got free water from the bar. It was fine, but I just didn't feel super comfortable with all the people inside. They had a private bathroom inside which was fine that had 2 stalls for the women. Probably won't be coming back here or making sure to bring our own food so we can dine al fresco.

I ordered the deluxe eggs benedict, which they kindly added chorizo to in lieu of Canadian bacon; my boyfriend ordered the sausage, biscuits and gravy; and we shared the coconut french toast because we just really wanted to try it! The servings are large but we ate nearly everything, and needless to say we were stuffed! I absolutely loved the chorizo--might be my favorite from a restaurant. The French toast was nearly perfect too, as it was thick and soft / moist but not soggy. I loved the coconut but feel the normal French toast would've been great too. Everything tasted fresh and house-made, as they say it is. The staff was incredibly nice and I believe the owner was at the front hosting people, which goes to show the service, thought and effort that goes into this place! The poached eggs were done perfectly and the English muffins were not burnt. (I have, unfortunately, experienced that before at another location.) My sister's breakfast was the corn beef hash, which really did look homemade, (unlike another restaurant in the area that served me what I believed was canned corn beef hash with almost soup texture.) her fruit was ripe. I do believe she very much enjoyed the breakfast. I may not be 100% correct on this, but I was rather disappointed in the hollandaise, it was a bit 'flat'. As far as I can tell, it was not true hollandaise. Most probably it was an egg Béchamel. It had a very creamy texture, a small tendency to congeal on the top, and lacked the bright zing of lemon and buttery texture and flavor of true hollandaise. Indicators, its lack of a slightly translucent and glossy finish, the lack of the acidity of lemon juice or vinegar, and did not weep butter, but instead seem to thicken and form a slight crust as I finished the Benedicts. The egg, Benedict were very tasty, but the hollandaise sauce with disappointing. (I really do like a good hollandaise.)
