Love this place! Everytime we're on a roadtrip towards nevada we stop at this place for breakfast and it never disappoints! The views are very pretty and the staff are very nice!

Let's start off by saying, this place is almost like a hidden gem. Although it sits inside the casino, it's actually really good. We were driving back home from Lake Tahoe and needed food, there were big signs on the billboards that entertained the idea of having a great breakfast/lunch prior to our long drive home. We decided to stop here. The service was excellent, they were prompt , reliable and fast. Our waitress was very nice, she was able to provide us with answers to all our orders and even assisted with recommendations. The diner had sufficient room for large and small parties. As the tables sits along the edge of the building, the glass window opens out to an astonishing view of the lake. This diner does feel nice, it felt very cozy and romantic. Highly recommend bringing a date for dinner if you want a lake view seating and good food. I will definitely return next time .

Beautiful view of the lake and snowy mountains from our booth

We stopped here for lunch on the way to Tahoe, the food was delicious!!! They were understaffed since it's a holiday but our server told us this as soon as we were seated. The views of the lake and mountains were amazing. We only waited a few minutes for her the take our orders and the food came out quick! Our server was attentive and personable, the food was amazing. Would definitely stop here again. Clean bathrooms as well

Well let me tell ya sumpthin! This restaurant has a beautiful lake view and is cozy inside ! We rolled in at around 7:00...luck was thats what time this joint opens...lucky fact #1! I ordered coffee while I looked at the menu...it came to me fast, hot and with an amazing smile!!...lucky fact #2 Our server's name is Mary...she greets everyone who enters with a fierce amount of energy and a smile that shines brighter than the sun!!! EXTREMELY LUCKY FACT #3 Now I am sooooo not a morning person...however this morning between Mary, my delish food and the mix of soft rock (the music that is playing has an intoxicating narcotic effect)...I feel so happy and thankful that I pulled over to eat breakfast here!! Over the years traveling up the 395 many times I have always wanted to stop here...but never did...because of Mary...I will make it a habit...she is a gold mine!!! She treats her customers like they are family and long time friends...please treat her well!!! WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Food, service and Ambiance were all incredible! My favorite is the All you can eat Spaghetti It's FAR BETTER than any Italian restaurant I've been too! Breakfast is outstanding (I recommend the chicken fried steak). My wife's favorite is the pastrami Ruben A must try! If you come through this area DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! ATTENTIVE SERVICE, AND BEAUTIFUL LAKE VIEWS! Also rustic "Lodge" style decorating!

It's been a long time since my family has driven to Topaz but I saw a flyer advertising Thanksgiving dinner here and we decided we didn't want to cook dinner at home. We got sat right away and had a view of Topaz lake from the table. The soups and salad came quickly. The meals came soon after. It was all very delicious. The service was very good. The waitress came to check on us multiple times. We'll definitely come back for more dinners in the future.

Haylee our server was bright and cheery, great start to our breakfast. Dining area has a breathtaking view of the lake. The place was sparkling clean & spotless. I had the French toast and it was delightful. Thick and perfectly crispy. Bacon & Eggs were cooked to perfection as well. Mimosa was bubbly and yummy, coffee was hot & fresh. We were just passing through, it was our first time here, but we will definitely be back to make more great memories!! Thank you!!

I almost did not come here due to some of the reviews but I am glad we did. Apart from the fact that there is not much to stop by on the way back from Lake Tahoe, this place is great place to stop at. It has a nice view and the breakfast was great. My family and I enjoyed it. Waiters were attentive and very nice.

This picture doesn't do the real view justice, but you get the idea.

Maybe all meals should be eaten by lakes. Beautiful scenery makes everything taste better. The food is good. Not life changing, but you'd have a hard time finding a more perfect spot to sit and enjoy a meal. Great service adds to the experience. I had the cherry bomb burger, which was a solid choice. Enjoyed the smothering of peppers over the top. The fries were excellent. Lightly battered and crunchy on the outside, they were the perfect side. You need to walk through the small casino to the back to go here. Try your luck at the slots before you cross into California. Unless you just drove from California. In that case, it's time to start losing your money!

The commanding lake view! This is good food, NOT fast food. Classic dishes worthy of real diner status. Got the fried steak with luscious thick gravy. Crispy. Came with 2 eggs, toast and hashbrown. **Got the 99 cent pancake. Huge, delicious and perfect. Best 99 cents one can spend. Covid standards adhered here.

While ownership has changed at one point, the bakery has stayed in the family. Locals absolutely depend on this jewel. Locals also order donuts for their different clubs, acitivities and gatherings. Tourism is also a big part of the bakery clientelle. The bakery has extended hours during peak summer time. It's essential to get to the bakery early during these times to be able to have many variety choices. While the bakery must close for the winter, you can depend on them usually beginning in April into October. It has been a long time, but we have ordered birthday cakes in the past. Everything here is consistent. The apple fritters are a big hit, and I say big hit because they are HUGE. The bakery also has sandwiches on the menu, but I think they are usually not available until after 11. There is plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables outside. Parking is available on the street and it is within walking distance from all local motels.

So their loss was our gain because I really enjoyed the High Sierra Bakery. I ordered up a delicious Sierra Haystack, A MUST DO when you go here. The bag was tempting, but they also have single haystacks for sale. My wife ordered up the Hulk and shared a bite of her sandwich with me. Perfectly made, in my opinion. Nice flavors and not too much of anything. They did have to sub pepperoni for salami but that didn't make much of a difference. For my sandwich I decided on a simple PBj because I wasn't super hungry. It was a good choice. Great bread and simple ingredients. The space is big enough for most groups that are coming through town and it really did feel very small town vibe. The service was good too! So many times I hesitate to get anything really unique in small towns because they just don't have the turnover, but High Sierra was pleasant surprise when it came to the quality of everything we had. I will definitely head there next time I am driving through from Reno.

Inside this refurbished old grammar school is an amazing little cafe operated by YTA. I used to come to the cafe when I lived in Yerington and it was under different management. I am so happy to see that the Cafe has been revived under the capable management of Roy Enochson, the Executive Director of YTA. A friend and I decided to have lunch here recently. The Cafe is in the lobby area of the Theater and serves as a place to eat, an art gallery and a boutique for all sorts of arts and crafts most of which are locally made. The space is a bit like being in a favorite Auntie's parlor with little tables, comfy chairs and a visual cornucopia of treasures. My friend ordered the lunch special - butternut squash ravioli with a side salad. I ordered the Cafe Signature Salad - a lovely fresh blend of baby greens, apples, cheese, cranberries, candied walnuts all lightly dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette. I also had a blood orange Italian Soda. The food was all tasty and fresh. Service was vey friendly, but the food was slow coming out. It was worth the wait. Our total bill for the two of us was under $20. While the portions were not huge, the meal was satisfying and the quality was excellent. This is a definite place to stop if you are in the area. Super glad that we finally did, I got a peppermint latte and the wife got a toffee latte. They even have locally made ice cream and the kids enjoyed chocolate brownie, and cookies and cream. The lattes were both great flavored and really well made with beans brewed from Old World Coffee (Reno) beans. Which is our favorite roaster in the area. Honestly with our travels out of state and internationally, we found that Old World has the best roasted beans around. There's plenty of space in the main part of the coffee shop and a side room with a community table and even an area for kids to play and read books. To make the experience even better, the owner, Diane, actually came by our table to introduce herself. It's always really nice to see an owner who is that attentive to her customers and invested in the dining experience. For my meal, I ordered the breakfast burrito which, as you can see from the photo, comes wrapped in a great spinach tortilla and served with sour cream, and salsa. It was loaded with egg, chorizo, green and red peppers, onions, and pepper jack cheese. I was a bit surprised, though, because even with so many distinct, flavorful ingredients packed inside, those flavors didn't quite come through. The pepper jack cheese was just a little too heavy-handed and ended up overpowering everything else in the burrito. The other minor issue was that I had specifically ordered hashbrowns with my meal, but I was served the breakfast potatoes instead. They were still perfectly crisp and seasoned well, but just wasn't exactly what I asked for. Overall, the atmosphere and the service made it a great experience, but I just wish the burrito had a better balance with less cheese, and that the sides hadn't gotten mixed up. I'd definitely give them another shot, though!
