It was a glorious bounty of bbq and smoked tri tip, chicken, baby back ribs, pulled pork, brisket and a hot link. It comes with 3 sides, which were unremarkable. A good piece of barbeque starts with the quality and cut of the meats and ends with the preparation. You can taste the time and thoughtfulness put into producing a tender Central Texas style bbq, bursting with flavor whether or not you decide to use one of the 2 house sauces. The baby back ribs are fabulous, they have 3 sauces to choose from, our favorite is the sweet. Their potato salad, macaroni and cheese and cowboy beans are great sides and you can't beat the peach cobbler for dessert. Service is friendly and usually quick, although sometimes they do get a bit overwhelmed because they're just so good. We love this place! read more

The food here is so so good. I love the tri-tip and their macaroni and cheese is just a bowl of happiness! The cashier (I wish I could remember her name) was really bubbly and her energy is infectious. I was really worn out from a long busy day and left there feeling upbeat, only to end my day with a great meal and enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Not that good. Really expensive, they forgot my sides x2. I had to go back, they didn't make up for it in any way. The guy was like "uh my bad. Ooops." Second time in. The 4 stars is because I grew up with amazing Midwest barbecue and almost nothing in the Land of Fruits and Nuts can compare. Rib Shack does a great job. I eat there whenever I can as my travels take me past there regularly. This last time I had the ribs and brisket. The ribs had too much dry rub left after the final smoke for my taste. My opinion is that most of the rub should cook off with juice leaving behind the flavor without the grit. I think maybe they boil the ribs and then rub and smoke, which is fine, but they need to fire off some of that rub. Brisket was moist, tender and delish. The sides are just ok for the most part. This trip I got the cowboy beans (excellent) and the coleslaw (average at best with too much dressing and a hair too sweet). If you want sweet slaw, stick to KFC. It's awesome that there are two great BBQ joints in that area (the other is When Pigs Fly). read more

Here's how it started... "We are out of everything except beef ribs, baby back ribs and pulled pork". What does this tell me? I missed out on something - and the food must be good. Know what I learned? Food IS good. The baby back ribs were awesome. The beef ribs Flintstone size and meaty. As far as the side, have to vote pass on the coleslaw - it just lacked flavor, be it a touch more sugar or a touch more vinegar this slaw needed something STAT! Fries, potato salad, rolls and beans were all good. Services was down home, nice and friendly. He was very apologetic for our wait/lack of variety. read more

My wife and I had a craving for BBQ today, and asking some of the locals in Fallbrook we we're pointed to The Rib Shack. So we took the 20 minutes to ride our scooter over here and we were glad we did. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, and a tri tip sandwich along with coleslaw and the beans... They have two bbq sauces that I saw. A sweet sauce and a smokey sauce. My wife and I preferred the smokey sauce, and it went very well with the moist, smokey sandwiches. They were big, and we couldn't finish them for lunch, so we are going to eat the other half for dinner. We will be back! read more

Seems as though they are definitely trying to get their business up and running. I tried the pulled pork barbecue sandwich with beans and slaw. Had the barbecue sauce on the side to try both of them. One was a bit saltier than the other but that's not saying much since I don't eat so in my diet. Probably would taste great to someone who eats salt regularly. I vote everyone gives it a try. I prefer my pulled pork sandwich shredded but that's just a preference. Also, they do not give a paper receipt with your credit card. They use square. I have heard great things about this place. Called to confirm they have beef ribs When I arrived I was told they had one let ( Saturday at 4:30). I ordered the beef rib wit French fries and Mac and cheese. In 56 years of eating beef ribs I've never finished the side dishes because I was busy finishing the ribs. That changed. The French fries were great. The Mac & cheese was delicious. The BBQ Beef rib I did not like it. Did not finish it. It came on a plate the bone clean no meat on it and the meat on a plate looked like and tasted like pulled beef. I ordered, paid for and wanted a beef rib not pulled beef. Great American BBQ tucked away off the 15, check it out if you're in the area! The first thing I notice when coming here is the amazing smell as you approach the restaurant. The smoker is often going outside and gets your mouth watering for what's next. I've had the brisket and tri-tip sandwiches here and both were delicious. I prefer the tri-tip because it has a little more fat, but you can't go wrong. The sandwich bread is fluffy and sweet, perfect to pair with BBQ sauce. Their sides are typical barbecue fair, but they are good. I especially like the beans and coleslaw. The best part is their homemade barbecue sauce, which comes in two varieties. Each one has a slightly different flavor, and I think that barbecue fans will find something to like with either one. I've had their food catered once before as well, and it didn't disappoint. Ok so this place is amazing. My husband and I were driving home from San Diego and accidentally found this place. It was some of the best BBQ I have had since well idk maybe my life. They give to so much food it's crazy and everything is good. We had the ribs, brisket, and the chicken and my husband is not a big chicken eater but he loved the chicken. The sids were all fresh and you could tell they were all homemade I loved the potato salad and the Mac and cheese was good too.
