I had a $75 massage and left a $15 tip afterward, which is a 20% tip and generally considered reasonable. However, the therapist then pointed at a tipping suggestion sign and explicitly asked me to tip $35 instead, which would be 46.6% of the service price. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and pressured. Tipping should always be voluntary, not demanded. The past few times I've been back to Jai Dee Thai Massage have unfortunately been super disappointing. All good if it's a one-off bad experience, but it looks like there have been unfortunate changes in the past few months. I couldn't seem to get a therapist with strong pressure even when requested and during the last time, one of the therapists explained what I needed to my therapist to no luck. I tried to politely end the massage from 60 to 30 minutes and the therapist walked into my room while getting dressed and threw the money on the massage table at the end of it. Explaining the situation to the front desk proved futile and after one too many bad experiences, I'm super sad to walk away from Jai Dee Thai Massage. The Mist Spa is a new affordable massage place one mile away that has consistently strong and excellent massages, so folks may have better luck there. read more

Stay close by/driven by before and my usual sports massage place unavailable today to treat my sore neck. My experience was not good. My boundaries were infringed. And it was not professional. So I ran away half way through without paying as panicked. Going to stick to my usual place that wife and I go too. Places like these seem risky. Maybe it was a one off. Turned my smile upside down :( After 4+ years of coming here I won't be going back. I used to come here regularly before covid for many years. I loved it. Good relaxing massages and very calming most of the time and the price is nice. Depending on the girl I could get an amazing massage or at least a descent one. Went back last week after nearly 2 years away and wished I didn't go. They're must be new owners because I noticed the phone # changed. They have a fella working the front desk now and he talks at a normal volume which, for me, is not calming when your getting your massage. You hear him talking to customers about how to pay etc... Maybe it's me but I like a peaceful massage experience. I've been in different massage parlors and you hear talking but it's typically kept to a whisper so as to not disturb the customers. As far as my actual massage it was lack luster. kind of rough. None of the girls that used to be here were there that day. They were older which is another downer for me. I like to be massaged by girls that are easy on the eyes. My girl was heavy and I'm not so keen on a big girl being on top of me giving a massage. When I was done I didn't want to give a tip actually because I didn't enjoy the experience. I figured I would tip her 10 bucks though seeing that I know these ladies don't make much. All I had was a 20 on me so I gave her 20 and said can I get 10 back? She held up a sign that said 1 hour .. tip 20. I think it said suggested but I wasn't gonna argue with her I thought her pointing to the sign showed a lack of taste and professionalism. I wasn't planning on returning before she pulled that move. Dearest Jai Dee, I've been here a handful of times and the massages have been great! I was training for a triathlon at the time and needed recovery therapy regularly. Jai Dee hit the spot. Unfortunately, on the last couple visits, things were not so great. My masseuse kept leaving the room. Fine, grab a hot towel, but don't leave me on the table multiple times for minutes. Also, the other time when i went for a couples massage, she would be whispering - talking on the phone answering calls. I get that a business can be short handed, no one to man the front desk. I get that it's a family business and you want to take as many clients as possible. But if the level of service suffers, then is it worth it? Do us all a favor, please. It is not easy giving a bad review for something that is such a first world luxury but I supposed within context it's fine. I can't even get myself to give a 1 star because a person still spent an hour working on me, although I not only did not enjoy it but it was painful and unpleasant. Maybe 10% of the whole thing was pleasant or at least not unpleasant. It was that bad. I am puzzled at the number of 5 stars I see here. I asked for a combo swedish and thai and ask for soft to medium. The entire thing was very painful and perhaps I am at fault for not speaking out during but the pain groans and clenching are usually plenty of signs at other place. But I just kept thinking that just this current segment is painful but when she moves on it would be fine, but no. At the end I ask to leave a $5 tip which I know is not much but again, when someone works hard even if they didn't do a good job (the whole thing was unpleasant and painful) I still can't get myself to not tip at all. I was then guilted into tipping more as she said they only work on tips. Which if is really true is unethical to them or damn right illegal (or should be). I left with a very bad feeling and today I actually have back pain, probably from her standing and bouncing on my back (I've never had pain a day after a massage). Maybe this is just not the place for me any everyone else loves it for a good reason. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. But I can't imagine going back there. read more

Yes it's affordable but after the crappiest massage I've ever had, the therapist demanded a 20% gratuity saying it's a mandatory service charge (they have no signed posted of this rule which is a violation). Furthermore, Gratuity is based on your performance and when you are talking to your coworker and checking your phone throughout the entire massage, this is not only unprofessional but not worthy of any gratuity! Future customers, I suggest you ask to see valid massage licenses before dropping any money in this joint, which they also require you to pay before the massage starts. Please beware!! read more

Other people would've probably given this a one star from the experience I had here during my second visit a few days ago. I was really hoping this would be my new go to massage place since the last lady I went to that was already a bit far away moved to a new place even further. First visit was fine, massage was good, I like mine very very hard and it was not as hard as I'd like but for most it's intense. The second one was def better than the first for me but I could've still used some more pressure. I did a two hour massage my second time and tipped the lady $20. The massage was $100 so I usually tip $10/hr or 20% whichever is greater. She basically said that the tip was not enough and to give her $30 total tip since she gave me really hard pressure. I walked out awkward smiling and saying thank you. I'm not the most generous tipper so I googled it to see if I'm being a cheapo and based on what I read I am above average for massages. Anyways, take this review with a grain of salt. The massage was actually good but the attitude of that lady rubbed me the wrong and it was a really awkward situation to put me in. I will give her kudos for having no chill and telling me I need to give her more money. read more

This place is FANTASTIC and I have had a lot of massages in the LA area from extreme budget spots to very high end spas. I'm a runner and I was having a lot of trouble with muscle soreness especially in the IT Band area. I was looking for a deep tissue massage. I asked for Phattharin and she literally CURED me. I almost couldn't believe it. I had been limping for weeks and after one session I felt so much better. Her technique was great. Very deep tissue but also relaxing at the same time. The place itself is very convenient, easy parking. Inside is spotless, nice music, good products (I have very sensitive skin) and whatever she used was great. Prices are super reasonable. Had a great deep tissue massage here. Clean and relaxing atmosphere. My only gripe was with the spine twisting movements, which left me with an achy back for a day. (I don't have back issues.) I surf, play hoops and coach football and my body is constantly getting bumped and bruised. This is the best massage in West LA/Santa Monica at any price. Period. I'm a swimmer and suffer from cramping and stiffness in my legs when I'm in the water. I've been going to see Loc at Jai Dee about once a week, usually immediately after I swim. She uses her fingers, elbows and forearms to get deep into the muscle, but it is never painful. She clearly takes a lot of pride in what she does -- which is very different than what I've found at other places. Trust me. This place is a gem. read more
