We had key lime, Belgium chocolate, and chocolate coconut macaroon pies and then for dinner we had mashed potato and chicken pie, broccoli and cheddar, and classic chicken pot pies. Awesome pie, we came here twice in one week. We tried the coconut custard and the macadamia nut pies the first time, both excellent. We also had the mango lilikoi, the lemon, and the chocolate coconut macaroon. The lemon pie was very tart and had the consistency of a key lime pie, it was my husband's favorite. The pies have a homemade taste to them instead of that made-in-bulk taste that high volume bakeries usually have. They used to be located in the industrial part of Lihue but they've moved nearer to the coast in this shopping center with other random shops like a nail salon, phone repair, bar/restaurant are located in. Parking is shared for all the shops in the shopping center and free after 5 or I think some other hour in the late afternoon. Their pie flavors are unique. Mango lilikoi pie, lilikoi cheesecake, chocolate coconut macaroon, blueberry pina colada. They even have variations like no added sugar or gluten free (gluten free pie what? I know, it's crazy.) I've only tried mango lilikoi pie and I liked it. Super fruity, not too too sweet, and with that homemade bite to it that I was talking about earlier. They also have cute mini "menehune" pie. I do wish they had the run of the mill island flavor pies such as lilikoi chiffon pie or chocolate haupia pie. The only flavor they have that's in that category is macadamia nut. read more

The downside to getting a pie from a vending machine is that they don't heat it up for you. I personally like my pies heated up but unfortunately we didn't have a microwave in the place we were staying so we ate the pie cold. My mom took a day trip to Kauai for work so I did a little search on what kinds of omiyage she can buy on Kauai. Found a recommendation online for this pie shop. She brought back two types of fruit pies and a frozen chicken pot pie. Haven't tried the pot pie yet but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. The woman with the short black hair and nice smile was very helpful and provided excellent customer service. YES! It's $5.25 per slice. When I came into the bakery I too was caught off guard by the price. However, throughout the course of our trip we tried many different treats and most were not satisfactory. These pies are beyond. I'd rather spend a little more money for a great product than less money for a crappy product with the same amount of calories. If I'm going to eat highly caloric foods they better be worth the extra time I have to spend at the gym to work them off. Now to discuss the slices! Off top, the crust was perfection. Some of the best pie crust I've ever tasted. My favorite was the lemon. The curd was zesty and refreshing. It wasn't too sweet and had a twangy twist. Super light and luscious. I also really enjoyed the blueberry piña colada. It had a nice island taste to it. The slice carried an abundance of lump, ripe blueberries. The cherry coconut was similar to the blueberry but a tad different. Equally delicious, but the cherry had more of a cobbler topping rather than a traditional topping. The cherries were plump and tart which supremely complimented the sweet coconut. The chocolate coconut macaroon blew me away. It's a caramelized coconut macaroon topping with a silky chocolate interior. It was divine! It was also the most memorable of all the pies. Thank you, Right Slice! Seeing what is called a "Brazilian Shrimp" pot pie and loving seafood, I thought I'd be different and give that a try. The others LOVED their chicken pot pies. However, my Brazilian Shrimp pie was a disappointment! There was virtually no visual or taste evidence of shrimp in my pie. Not sure if that is the intent. Dessert pies were so good I had to come back twice on our vacation. First we had the lilikoi cheesecake and tropical banana which was so bomb. The tropical banana was like a warm apple pie. This place was kind of difficult to find, but I was so happy that I finally did! As a bit of an introvert, I was unusually happy to find out that this place is basically a vending machine hub for pies! Don't be overwhelmed by the system. All of the instructions are right there. Granted, I was a little nervous about it not correctly charging my credit card, as it kept saying it would charge me $24 each time (I was only getting 2 slices). But when I checked my account, the correct amount was refunded. And I left happily with 2 slices of pie: one lilikoi cheesecake, and one chocolate coconut macaroon.
