I think I'm not a shaved ice girly as much as I wanted to be! It was good, but didn't have me craving more and I attribute it to just personal taste. Service was quick and the food truck is located in front of an indoor market. I got the mango and passion fruit syrup with vanilla macadamia ice cream. Yummy flavors that didn't taste suuuuuper sugary. They stand out bc they use all natural syrups with no artificial colors/flavors! Ice cream was a nice touch at the bottom of the cup. Probably one of the "healthier" shaved ice options, but this was my singular shaved ice experience during our whole trip to Kauai, so I'm not super reputable in this dessert department. Definitely give them a try for fellow shaved ice lovers! read more

I enjoyed the shave ice here, loved the natural flavors and the honey and pineapple bits on top were great. This is next to a small shopping area and parking spots are there but sometimes can be full. If you are in the area, it's worth the stop. Definitely not worth driving to if you aren't close. As most places in Kauai, cash is preferred and using credit cards comes with a 3% surcharge on the bill. read more

As a family, we are always curating and adding to our favorite foods lists and one of them is the best shave ice places in Hawaii. Waikomo makes the list for sure. They serve a very delicious version with natural ingredients creating a unique flavor profile. It veers on the healthy side of shave ice desserts. We shared a guava and passion fruit with a coconut cream topping with fresh bits of fruit (pineapple pieces). We added the option of Mac nut ice cream which made it extra delicious. Service was friendly and speedy despite the line. And the tables in the jungle setting was super unique. Would go again and highly recommend! read more

Having 4 of the shaved ice spots thus far on the trip, Waikomo shave ice takes the crown! (I wil update if anything changes in the next three days . Located in front of the warehouse shopping center. Ordered mango and calamansi (contrasting flavors ). With Mac nut ice cream of course. Condensed milk and toppings Syrup flavors tasted like real fruit and delicious. Neither overly sweet , nor artificial sweeteners. Definitely a winner . Highly recommend it read more

Horrible wait! Took almost an hour to get to just order. It's shaved ice, so it's similar to all the others. Only 1 person working and she only takes a few orders and takes forever to work on each order. Would never recommend to anyone. read more

Best shaved ice in the area. Definitely not a tourist trap. They use all homemade fresh ingredients so you're not getting some fake syrup. The ice cream they use is top-quality. And they add really nice. Free toppings on each order. May not be huge, but it is delicious and very authentic. Service is wonderful and you sit outside to eat right next-door to a really cool warehouse where they sell locally made stuff. read more

Such a great, little side trip down the road from Poipu. The flavors are amazing and all natural. Highly recommend the calamansi and coconut combo. I've put this as my top shave ice of the trip to Kauai. Plus there's a sweet little shopping area adjacent to the truck with very local gifts, clothing and artwork. read more

Dynamite! Every island has a special shave ice located on it and I believe this is kuaui's! A sweet lady runs this out of a food truck and it may not be fast but it is definitely worth the wait!! All of the shave ice are topped with a coconut cream, honey and fresh fruit! The flavors were soooo good!! No bare ice anywhere! read more

Absolutely stellar work out of this little truck. If you sold this on the street in New York, it would be $25 a cone and the line would be down the block. After finishing my vacation in Kauai, this is where you get your shaved ice. I had shaved ice almost every night while in Kauai, and I not just ordered one shaved ice, but I got a second one after the first one, which was so good. You get a max of two topping flavors, and the price was reasonable (~$9). The syrup they used was a lot less sugary than other places I have tried, and upon reading their website, they used cane sugar instead of fructose for the sweetening. The home coconut sauce with some honey on the top made the flavors more in-depth. The service was super quick, and the ambiance was nice, as there was a lot of outdoor seating. Hands down, I would go to this again. I will also drive across the island to get this shaved ice. read more

Located by the warehouse shopping center, this adorable place has a great outdoor seating in the back. I had my sights set on trying the LocoCoco bowl, and they recommended the popular mango-strawberry flavor. It turned out to be the most delicious shave ice I've ever had! The flavors were incredibly rich, and the bowl contained real fruit pieces. I loved that I I could take the coco bowl and wooden spoon home as a souvenir. The service is amazing and they offered to rinse of the bowl and spoon so we can take them with us I can't wait to return when I'm in Kauai again read more

STILL my FAVORITE... STILL the BEST. No trip back to the island is complete without at least visiting Waikomo once or twice. We are blessed to stay at least 2 weeks each time we've gone and if I could have Waikomo every day, I would. For me, it's that good... Like I've said before, shave ice on Kaua'i is on a different level. The use of all natural juices and ingredients are what sets shave ice on this island above all the other islands IMO. And Waikomo, to me, is the BEST of them all. You would be smart to stop by whenever in Koloa town because you won't regret it. Our last trip back in late August/early September 2023, we stopped in for the perfect cool treat on a late Summer day. I got my typical lychee and strawberry regular shave ice. Waikomo tops theirs with fresh fruit, coconut cream and a honey drizzy. It's so good. I love it. Simply the BEST.... Visually, Waikomo's shave ice does not look like the others. The fruit and drizzy on top make it unique looking and taste even better.... The lady also got a regular with passion fruit and pineapple. She loved hers as usual. I always say I'm gonna try the blood orange but I just love lychee or haupia and strawberry or mango, maybe pineapple. Thomas was there and it was real good to see him. We chatted a little bit despite how typically busy they are. I appreciated his time. I didnt realize the Vegas location was no longer around and I told him I was bummed that I never got to try it... There really is no legit Hawaiian shave ice on the mainland. Believe me, I know... I've driven to countless places in Greater Los Angeles County and North San Diego trying all the options. Even when I go home to San Francisco, I try the latest attempts at it... None of them can touch what Waikomo does. Not a one. Try for yourself. I know I speak the truth... Show the people working there Aloha, they're working hard back there for you. Bring patience if there's a long line. You're on Kaua'i, best place to be stuck in a line. Don't forget to tip them... I will ALWAYS support this local owned business for as long as I'm able and as long as I'm welcome on this island we love so much... Mahalos for the sticker, Thomas... This is the best shave ice we had on Kauai. We liked Ulelani in Maui. Now, the mango strawberry can taste the juice. I only wished that there were mochi toppings. At least they had bits of fruits on top. The ice was soft as well. It melts quicjly so be ready to slurp it up. read more

3.5 stars. This was my second choice for shave ice. The truck is located in a lot with 2 others. The ice isn't fluffy as another I had the day before but it wasn't as icy chunky as others. I tried the calamasi with coconut and added vanilla Mac ice cream for $2 extra charge. The calamasi flavor isn't as strong as I'd prefer. There's a couple picnic type tables to sit and enjoy. If you use a credit card instead of cash, there's a surcharge about 40 cents. read more

Shaved ice: 4.5. This is from my visit on Feb 22. My cousin brought me here. This is a small place with limited parking and seating. I ordered the blueberry and mango shaved ice. It has been awhile since I've had shaved ice. Dessert came out after some time but looked amazing and appetizing. Ice was so soft and melt-in-your-mouth tasty. Flavor was robust and addicting. They offer fruit smoothies that are much bigger than those across the street - $8 for 20 oz of fresh fruit smoothies instead of $9 for like 10 ounces across the street. They also offer other desserts like boba teas and halo halo, which we found to be very delicious and very reasonably priced. This would be great place to stop by before or after your hike at Waimea for baked goods, trail mix/chips, sandwiches and/or teas and dessert. I would highly consider ordering sandwiches and snacks to-go and then having them on my hike. I also ordered a malasadas and bought some trail mix for the road - all packaged by 4tea. I think the price points are great and the owners are very kind. However, I noticed the downside of this store is the small signage, which I couldn't even see eating at Island Taco. But what we did was park near Island Taco (since they do not have their own lot but instead they share the lot with a private homeowner). So I would park on the street or nearby and walk over. Alongside the trail mix, they also have fruit candies, chips, bakery items, and sandwiches of all kinds - all very reasonably priced. It's hard because this place does not have seating, but you can easily grab this food to go and enjoy it at a beach nearby like Salt Pond Park. I hope this business does well and that they get more foot traffic, which is why I'm writing this thorough review, noticing that they aren't on Yelp yet - Hope this local business does well!

Absolutely fantastic . My buddy and I approached the shave ice truck hoping for something new, something maybe different, but still some local flavors. We simply told Thomas "you have full artistic liberty . Just make us what you would have in a coconut bowl " . He replied "I'll hook it up". It was simply amazing . We have had plenty of shave ice experiences across the different islands . Most go for a massive quantity of ice and they taste okay. Thomas and his Loco coco style goes for new depth of flavor And with a playful style to tease the sweet craving pleasure centers of your brain . I recommend it to the highest degree . We were on the island the week of Fourth of July. On our first day we headed to the grocery store and saw this place on our way back. So very glad we stopped for a shave ice. Thomas is super nice and fun to talk to. He had only been at this location for a short time and I am sure by now word has spread about how delicious his shave ice is. The Best Shave Ice in Hawaii!!!! Tried shave ice on Oahu, Big Island, Maui and Kauai and Loco Coco on Kauai is by far the best! Fresh fruit juices, fresh fruit toppings and NO artificial anything! The ice is SO fine, it melts in your mouth! Trust me, Matsumoto's, Waiiloa's, and Ululani's doesn't even come close!!!! Can't wait to go back to Kauai and have more! Loco Coco is absolutely amazing! So fresh and tasty. All week my wife and I had been going to a place that uses syrup flavoring and we thought it was so delicious...We have been missing out all week on Loco Coco and we leave tomorrow. Hands down Loco Coco makes the best shave ice on the island! We tried a few different shave ice places but none came close to Loco Coco's fresh fruit and natural ingredients. My daughter loved having it served in a coconut and being able to eat it afterwards. The owner was very friendly and passionate about what he's doing. We found out from our local friend, after we had basic overpriced shave ice here earlier, that the owner of this shave ice place is very ANTI VAXX and has a reputation for being crazy! So we will not be coming back to support this place. The best shave ice anywhere out of anywhere!! I am super no-artificial, and if you are too, this is the place to go!! A large amount of shave ice made with organically squeezed fruit juices, fresh cut fruit in the top, glazed with coconut cream and all natural honey. Very small place, but a big deal!! (Tied) North Shore Bowls in Kilauea - very enjoyable and creative pre-designed flavor combos, nice fluffy ice, good ice cream, flavorful syrups 1. (Tied) Wailua Shave Ice - very enjoyable and creative pre-designed flavor combos, delicious toppings, very good ice texture and ice cream; too light on the syrup for one of our two trips 3. Wishing Well in Hanalei - good fluffy ice and really flavorful natural syrups; downside is it's very crowded (always!) and pretty basic 4. JoJo's in Hanalei - this is a standard shave ice place; ice was a bit compact and icy, but the syrup was plentiful (maybe too much, if you can believe that, for our one visit) and the ice cream was both generous and good 5.
