As a small business owner I understand the importance of 5 star reviews, but also appreciate feedback. We had such high hopes for this place but were very disappointed. My wife and I were "greeted" with "just find a place and we will figure it out." No mention as to where we can find a high chair for our 1 year old, but we figured it out, not a big deal. Our first mistake was waiting for 15 minutes before anyone even came to check on us thinking the rest of the night would be quicker...it wasn't. Once we ordered it took 20 minutes to get our beers and then 20 minutes on top of that to get our food. Over 30 minutes from the time we sat down to getting a simple beer, and nearly an hour from the time we sat down to getting our food. We made a "happy mistake" today. We tried to visit the Klean Eatz Bakery to find that it was closed and the Ripon Taphouse had taken over, using the bakery as a kitchen to serve up some really savory food. On the menu, I really wanted to try the Poutine, that Canadian dish of French fries, cheese curds and gravy. Sounds a bit weird but it tastes great, something really savory. Their braised rib sandwich had a flavorful coleslaw and their Reuben had sauerkraut, both combined for that flavorful bite and made it delicious. Offering alternative sides, we opted for a garden salad with balsamic vinegar and broccolini as a healthier option. The finish was a nice chocolate stout cake made with that famous Irish brew, Guinness. A medium cake with a dark chocolate finish, it was a nice finish and not overly sweet. My personal rating is 4.5 stars. The Poutine as a 5, with the rest coming in at 4.5. A nice surprise and with other items on their menu, something we are going to keep in mind for future visits. read more

Hate to write a bad review for a new business but here we go....Checked out The Ripon Tap House as recommended by friends and unfortunately was not very pleased. The burger was very undercooked, ordered it medium and came near raw. We informed the waitress and her offer to reolve the issue was a few beers on the house. Not to have the food corrected. Another waitress stopped by and told us that was the second burger that came out raw. Beer selection is not large, nothing amazing to speak about. Chicken sandwich ordered was not cooked either, the breading was doughy and we didn't waste out time discussing that with the waitress. We wanted to pay for whatever and leave. I would love to meet the manager or owner and give this business another go. I will update review if offered the chance. I grabbed a menu while waiting so we could browse the offerings and when the table was ready the hostesses rudely took it from my wife. So we get our table . We ordered poutine , burger , salad and grilled cheese ( kids plate ) and 2 beers . Beer selection was good. They offer a modest but diverse beer selection. That was nice to see The poutine was off . Fries were fine , gravy had a strong nutmeg spice that threw it off plus the curds ( not many) were old . Burger was ordered med rare . How the hell is it dry ?? Flavorless beef but you can taste the char . Salad was wilted but we liked the ranch dressing. Grilled cheese was ok and the grapes that it came with were the highlight. Atmosphere was fine . So happy we decided to try this place out. We went on a busy Friday night. We did sit outside but the cold wasn't bad since they have these huge outside heaters. There was live entertainment which I really enjoyed. We ordered the Gojuchang wings which are a spicy thai style wing (Delicious), the Bacon nachos (reminded us of ball park nachos), and the Aranchinis which we dipped in marinara. The food did take a hot minute to come out but it was Friday night so that's to be expected. The beer selection was good for my husband. He REALLY enjoyed Yojo. I had the Chardonnay that tasted like butter. They did have two local ciders which is lovely to see both supporting local! and because I typically only see beer. My daughter had the chicken sandwich it was huge and super tasty with garlic waffle fries and the I had the Braised Rib which was good. Our friend ordered the Reuben (made with corn beef!) and the fish and chips which he loved. The service was good and the staff was attentive and kind. I would love to recommend this place because it looks great. I tried to eat here on two separate occasions. The first time I got there 30 min before my group to try and get a table. I stood there for at least 10 min before an employee even talked to me. I told them that I had 8 people, they told me they didn't have room as their only large table was full. I asked if they could move the two 4 person tables that were empty together and they said no. There was no one else waiting. The staff was super rude and did not want to help. The second time it was just my wife and I . Again we waited at least 10 min for anyone to acknowledged. An employee walked past us and didn't say a thing. When we asked if we could be seated he said I'll find someone and walked away not talking to anyone. After a couple minutes a lady came out and asked if we put our name on the list. We told her it was the two of us and we were just trying to see how long. She then just walked away. The worst part is both times it wasn't super busy and there were open tables. Wait staff appeared to be just hanging out with their friends. I won't try to go back. It's sad I wanted to try this place but service sucks! read more

Tried this new place this evening and it didn't disappoint. Got there early and it was a 30 minute wait. Not bad considering it's new in town. The young lady at the hostess stand was very friendly, and quite busy! She checked in people. Constantly circled around the floor clearing tables and cleaning them up to seat new customers. Huge shoutout to her!! Great work ethics. Ambience was a bit loud, but tolerable. Our waitress was very friendly and gave great recommendations on beer and cider. We ordered the poke tower as a starter, delish!! Wish it had some sort of chips or something to put it on for sharing. Meal was as followed, ordered chicken sandwich, husband ordered a side of BBQ sauce to complete the meal. Son ordered the braised rib sandwich and I ordered the surf and turf with the chimichurri on the side. It was really good. Honestly I hate to be the one to write negative reviews or reviews at all. But I can't really overlook exactly what happened this sunday on Father's Day. My husband and I are regulars, we are Ripon locals and have been for years. When we started coming here we loved everything about it, the food, the vibe,the music, the service. On Fathers day we decided to take our son and have some good beers and just have a good time overall. We sat outside a few feet away from a family that had been seated previously. The girl at the entrance did not bother to get us a waitress. We waited 15 mins before my husband decided to walk in and ask what was going on and the girl acted like we werent sitting right in front of her eyes. Our waitress (blonde girl) was nice and seemed new so we understood why she couldve had a hard time getting our order right as both me and my husband got the build your own burger. The waitress who came to bring our food to the table (red hair girl with glasses) was bringing the peoples next to us food before and she was overall very nice and cordial toward these people. Total contrast to when she came to our table. Both me and my husband had asked for Grilled Onions and we both got raw. She took both of our food and when she came back mine still had the raw onion, which means she literally took my food back for no reason the first time around. When I told her I wanted Grilled Onions for the second time and the bacon I had asked was missing she got very upset and took my plate off the table in such a rude way, it made ME apologize to her. She brought my burger out the last time and my burger still was missing the bacon and had ketchup and mustard in it with pickles which I specifically didn't ask for and told them I didnt want three times. My husband kept asking why I kept apologizing to her as I was not doing anything wrong other than ask for what I initially wanted. We thought about some similar encounter we had with this same waitress a while back when she was working behind the desk and my husband and I asked to be seated in the beer garden which we had to wait for a few minutes. Time went by and she kept seating multiple families coming in and looking at us like we weren't there waiting to be seated, when my husband asked if it was okay to sit at the beer garden since it was empty and it had been cleaned, she literally responded "if you guys want". It almost felt racially motivated which I really hope it wasnt, but like I said, my husband is a filipino brown man and i am a latin brown woman, the people sitting next to us were clearly caucasian and the treatment she gave them compared to us was a total contrast, like I said previously. Thankfully another nice waitress came out and she was able to fix my order and took it off our tab as courtesy. Needless to say, the experience this time was awful especially because we did not need this kind of treatment and experience on Father's Day. Will we come back? Of course, absolutely , but I hope we never encounter with this kind of service again. read more

I have been to the TapHouse many times since it opened. AMAZING BEER. AMAZING FOOD. AMAZING STAFF. The Fish and Chips are AMAZING and Nachos with pulled pork ROCK. With regards to the staff, Kiley is one of the servers that stands out the most... with her attention to the guest and her great spunk and attitude. Five Stars in my opinion. The only recommendation I have is that the owner/ management pays the cable bill. With the NHL and NBA playoffs going on, plus MLB season..... there should be NO REASON why on both TV screens, one has motocross and the other a blank ESPN+ template..... having only one restroom, you can get past....but having to ask the bartender to look for Game 7 of the NHL Playoffs should not happen. We came here with a group of 6 including two kids and loved it. The service was quick and attentive. It was Friday night and they had great live music but we could still easily have conversation. The beer list isn't huge but they had a great variety and we appreciated the local choices. Best part was definitely the food.
