Biscuts and gravy were the best I have ever had!

Top notch service - super friendly. Great food and bring your pets, killer outside seating. Definitely coming back

The Canvas Cafe, Virginia City NV

Breakfast choices in Virginia City on an early weekday morning were limited but the Canvas Cafe got 'er done. I was not the only person in here but it didn't get very busy during my time. The same young lady was making coffee, taking orders, cooking and running food. She also ran the register. Not a problem as it didn't really get too busy. I had an omelet which was a little over done. Not great but good enough. This isn't a fancy restaurant and I didn't need fancy today. After clearing plates, I sat with laptops for an hour or so while Virginia City woke up so I could look around. My waitress kept coffee refilled and didn't mind me sitting in the corner and using their Internet for a while. [Round number review 17700 overall - 46 in Nevada - 1221 of 2022.]

Brats & Eggs at The Canvas Cafe

We were meeting out-of-town family in VC on Friday, and we arrived early. Hungry. We stumbled upon The Canvas Cafe. Open tables were available, despite an event going on in the city, so we stopped in for breakfast. OMG I'm So glad we did! The food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Look at the pics. This may well be one of the best spinach (veggie) Benedict's that I've ever had. The English muffin was perfect (not soggy) and the hollandaise sauce was homemade, light and just amazingly tasty. Seriously, check out the pics. It all tasted just as good as it looks. The restaurant is cute and vc funky. Definitely worth a trip up the hill, from wherever you're coming from.

Quirky little local spot..... Food is good but not great. Atmosphere is nutty as nutty can be, but I love that type of thing. Have to say I became obsessed with their little piggy salt and petter shaker. The food.... Less obsessed not still filled my belly. Services was good. Being new to this town, o can't wait to checked out all the local spots.

Ordered the blank canvas and wish I had gotten an empty canvas. Cooked grapes, undercooked potatoes and extremely tough beef with arugula... I'm not sure what the idea was but this was a fail. Positive notes... the server was kind and the atmosphere is fun and quirky

As far as esthetics and atmosphere... I love this place! It's got a fun and funky vibe. The service is friendly but not very attentive. I ordered eggs Benedict with my eggs over hard... the whole meal was barely cooked. It had soft English muffins, running eggs and barely cooked bacon instead of ham! My husband ordered an omelet and it somehow got missed on the order, so it came out appropriately 30 min later! The waitress only offered 10% off the bill which was basically nothing for the bad meal and the other meal being so much later! On a positive note a band was playing which helped the overall experience.

Beware!!!! We went for breakfast on Sunday. The Server that we had was very nice, they didn't have a table when we walked in so she took our number, and said it would be about 40 min and she'd text when the table was ready. She did send a text, and it was much sooner than she had said. This part was lovely. We ordered the Classic Benedict's, Bloody Mary, and Corned beef Hash and Eggs. The food was mediocre at best, the Hollandaise sauce was really thin almost translucent and not creamy looking, the eggs were hard, and potatoes on the side were under cooked. But this was not the alarming part..., it was the fact that someone came out of the back... maybe a cook not really sure. She had a jar of Mayonnaise that she was dipping a spoon into eating spoon fulls and re-dipping that spoon in the jar! Do they use this for food they prepare for guests? And the other server that was there, had a bottle of vodka and she was drinking it straight from the bottle, again do they use this to make drinks for guests.. literally made my stomach turn.. since we had already eaten. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Their website pricing is WAY off. Website ordering said $23 when we went to pick up, it was $38 per-tip. French fries and salad. They gave homestyle potatoes and it was literally 5 pieces.

On my first visit, I saw that the Iced Brew special was Carrot Cake. Um? Only my favorite cake! I had the best timing and hit the jackpot! Of course that's what I ordered. It was delicious! The decor is absolutely adorable. It's like a beautiful Victorian feel to it. It has beautiful furniture, pictures on the wall, and they have coffee, jewelry for sale and other items. Additionally, they roast their coffee beans on-site with a large vintage roasting machine towards the back of the shop. The place definitely has an elegant, antique-like ambience that fits perfectly with VC. They also serve various baked goods, bagel sandwiches and other breakfast items. You will have a great start to your day by coming here first. Service is impeccable and the staff is super friendly. As you go towards the rear of the shop, there is a beautiful patio that overlooks Virginia city and the streets below C Street. It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast item. It's very peaceful with beautiful scenery and they've added some rustic patio furniture. I've been back a couple times and the prices are really good. I'm from the Bay Area and compared to where I'm from the prices are more than reasonable for coffee. This is a place not to be missed when you visit Virginia City!

The food left lots to be desired. To start, we had the macaroni wedges. These were fried perfectly but only had the macaroni inside-no cheese. The platter was basic and had no seasoning. The fish was cooked correctly but the shrimp was very undercooked. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger. The burger came out very burned, dry, and without bacon. A side of bacon to add to his burger came to the table when he was about 1/2 way done eating. I had the BLT. The bread was soggy and soft.
