Best coffee I've had so far in Port Townsend! This was my 4th try this morning. 1) Room coffee…read morereally bad. 2) Lobby coffee bad but better than room's coffee maker. Restaurant where I had breakfast was OK. Did not take any of the refills offered as there had to something better. AFTER 3 bad drip coffees taken black, I ordered a delicious latte from Better Living Through Coffee. My vegan latte made with macadamia alternative milk was near nirvana. Plan to go again before I leave town.

This is more of a 4.4 star, very good, but can't quite round up to a 5…read more This cafe is located in a corner of a building with beautiful views of the water, both inside and on their little patio outside near the entrance. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. However, the shape of the cafe doesn't help to make a streamlined queue... it's crowded and a bit confusing as to who's standing to order and who's waiting to pick theirs up. Nonetheless, I was excited to see the options in their pastry case and on their menu. The bigger case had mostly a bunch of quiche and savory options, while a smaller one had sweets. I ordered the salmon quiche because I've never seen that anywhere else so hello, gotta try it! I also got the Arancia (basically an orange mocha) because I love the combination of chocolate and citrus. I appreciated that the worker communicated well and told us the quiche would take 10 minutes to warm up. My husband got an Ethiopian light roast pour over, which was cool to see being made on an apparatus that looked like it had space for about five pour overs at once. Opinions on what we got: Ethiopian Light Roast- Flavorful, just a bit lighter than others I've tried, and it didn't go sour with time. Very good! Arancia- Holy cow this was delicious and I would definitely get it again. Keep in mind, the orange peel was actually in my cup and I was surprised when all of a sudden I was chewing on something and pulled it out of my mouth! But it does say "orange peel" in the description on the menu, so I should've known. Salmon Quiche- A bit pricy but wonderful! The quiche itself was well seasoned, & the salmon was evenly distributed. My only complaint is that the crust was quite difficult to cut with a plastic knife. We were on their patio, so we had to go back inside to grab a metal butterknife (of course we returned it). Tamale Pie- Oh yeah! We left to walk around town then decided we were way too curious about a tamale pie in the case that we were eyeing earlier, so we returned to get that to go. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. First off, this was the same price as the salmon quiche but the quality seemed so much worse. It didn't taste good, was unevenly cooked (mostly dry), and the crust was hard as rock. I even put taco sauce on top from a pack we had in the car. It helped to make it taste a little better. Would never get this again, though. Overall, I really enjoyed Better Living Through Coffee and will be sure to return on my next visit to try other quiches and drinks.

Pictured is how long the young lady who answered the phone placed me on hold, then I decided to hang up. Next photo is I decided to cancel our high tea reservations right after I hung up. It was for my daughter's 41st birthday. And all I called for was to let them know about allergies, and what kind of tea menu they have. Her reasoning for placing me on hold or calling me back was because she said she had a long line of people. As I waited I heard all the conversations going on. Honestly I think she forgot about me. I opted to wait on hold because it's difficult to get a hold of me, and I had appts to get to. When she said place me on hold I didn't think it would take over 20 minutes. At least have someone else you work with take care of the phone call if you're that busy. It's unfortunate I canceled because my friends and I have traveled different states, countries, even all around Seattle proper to have high tea or even afternoon tea. My family and I were willing to drive the almost two hours to try Cafe Tenby because none of us have even heard of this place. So I don't think we will give this place our business. As an elite all star yelper, I don't think anyone I know will also.

I really liked the chips they were some of the best I've had. I would like to see pico de gallo available. I think we will be coming back frequently. The view from the patio was fabulous.

That's pretty much what we got here though not overwhelmingly good. First I'll say that other recent reviews pointing out differences in this cuisine vs traditional Mexican American or authentic Mexican dining and the very nice staff are not far off. Of course it's all personal taste and expectations. So here we were only moderately pleased with the food and drinks but it was a marvelous place to spend a little time near the water in nice outside tables with light blankets folded over the backs of seats for chilly times on the deck. The margaritas (hers spicy and mine standard) were good enough though served in a chimney glass which is different. The tacos we ordered were pretty good though not the best ever by any means. The hot sauce was "house made habanero " I guess in generic bottles after asking for Cholula. It was ok but not my preferred sauce. And the chips and salsa I asked if they were included and brought to the table but later found that they charged us for them???? Not a fan of that from an expense and a transparency standpoint!! The chips are house made and not uniformly made with thick chewy parts and a lot of crumbs. House made salsa reminded me of a house made version of jarred salsa. The staff was very nice and accommodating and two cute sisters dominate the service scene which was fun to watch. So I don't know that we will go again but glad we tried it. Wish I could give this a better review but it was just OK.
