Burrito - Good and Filling - get this!
    Julian G.

TL;DR: Better than the hyped spot, this is where you go for coffee in Port Townsend. Food: Everything we had was fresh and well thought out. The spinach and cheese pastry hit exactly how it should, and the burrito was warm, cheesy, eggy perfection. Even the hot sauce slapped. Vibe: Chill and low-key. Not overly busy like the other spot people line up for. What could be better: Honestly, not much maybe just wish we found it sooner.

High Tea at Cafe Tenby is a treat. This local independent cafe has a very special selection of different teas and pastries. The high tea (by appointment only) is very much worth the price. I had a robust Earl Grey Crème that had a lovely subtle vanilla twist. I'm all about the scone ms and clotted cream with jam. Yum! It can get a little warm in the summer. Don't be shy and tell the staff you are a bit flushed and they will accommodate. Warm relaxed ambiance inside makes for a pleasant tea experience.

A local recommended this place when we asked about where to grab breakfast before our whale watching tour. Cafe Tenby is a cute cafe with lovely staff and delicious food. We enjoyed our breakfast with tea... he was getting a sore throat, so they recommended a ginger turmeric tea that he envied so much that we bought a bag to bring home. We also grabbed sandwiches for our tour.

Took a short day trip to PT to have high tea! What a great place. It's clean, friendly, and yummy. The experience is great. They sit you down, you pick out your tea from a list, but if you want something that's not on the list, you are free to. One of the people in my party did so, and they were happy to do so. The tower came out quickly and they explained what each item was. It was all delicious. We opted for royal tea (Prosecco) in addition to our tea. Another person in our party was a vegetarian and they had already asked in advance when they called a few days before to verify the reservation. There's an 18% gratuity they add on top of the charge, however they are upfront about it when they call to confirm your reservation. I had no issue with this since I typically tip 18-22%. Bottom line: it's a great place for high tea, but it's also a local favorite just for tea and food (it was suggested by a shop owner, and we said, we already had reservations for high tea).

The wife and I stopped here for a small sweet treat and some tea. They only had seating for reservations but that was ok because we planned to walk around the neighborhood. This place was great and while I have no idea what the little treat I had was called it was two round thin pastries with some sort of thin filling in the middle... SPECTACULAR! I have to note that the customer service was phenomenal! They were patient and kind and so engaging. I will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town.

Nice little place. The pastries look and taste good. We stopped by early for some breakfast sandwiches. The food taste good. Too bad this place do not sell espresso type coffee drinks. However, it sells many kind of teas. It's nice to stop by and check this place out.

Ordered coffee to go with my Toffee Thumbprint @11:23am. Went out front to sit at the bistro tables to allow safe social distancing. Was told coffee should be ready in 4-5 minutes and they will bring it outside to me. 11:59am and still no coffee. Cookie $2.75 Coffee $3.75 Tip $2 Experience - Priceless....

Food is great. Coffee is really good. We had the Moroccan soup and shared a turkey sandwich - both were delicious.

Didn't greet us, seemed annoyed when we put in an order. My salted toffee latte tasted like straight milk.

Best coffee I've had so far in Port Townsend! This was my 4th try this morning. 1) Room coffee…read morereally bad. 2) Lobby coffee bad but better than room's coffee maker. Restaurant where I had breakfast was OK. Did not take any of the refills offered as there had to something better. AFTER 3 bad drip coffees taken black, I ordered a delicious latte from Better Living Through Coffee. My vegan latte made with macadamia alternative milk was near nirvana. Plan to go again before I leave town.

This is more of a 4.4 star, very good, but can't quite round up to a 5…read more This cafe is located in a corner of a building with beautiful views of the water, both inside and on their little patio outside near the entrance. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. However, the shape of the cafe doesn't help to make a streamlined queue... it's crowded and a bit confusing as to who's standing to order and who's waiting to pick theirs up. Nonetheless, I was excited to see the options in their pastry case and on their menu. The bigger case had mostly a bunch of quiche and savory options, while a smaller one had sweets. I ordered the salmon quiche because I've never seen that anywhere else so hello, gotta try it! I also got the Arancia (basically an orange mocha) because I love the combination of chocolate and citrus. I appreciated that the worker communicated well and told us the quiche would take 10 minutes to warm up. My husband got an Ethiopian light roast pour over, which was cool to see being made on an apparatus that looked like it had space for about five pour overs at once. Opinions on what we got: Ethiopian Light Roast- Flavorful, just a bit lighter than others I've tried, and it didn't go sour with time. Very good! Arancia- Holy cow this was delicious and I would definitely get it again. Keep in mind, the orange peel was actually in my cup and I was surprised when all of a sudden I was chewing on something and pulled it out of my mouth! But it does say "orange peel" in the description on the menu, so I should've known. Salmon Quiche- A bit pricy but wonderful! The quiche itself was well seasoned, & the salmon was evenly distributed. My only complaint is that the crust was quite difficult to cut with a plastic knife. We were on their patio, so we had to go back inside to grab a metal butterknife (of course we returned it). Tamale Pie- Oh yeah! We left to walk around town then decided we were way too curious about a tamale pie in the case that we were eyeing earlier, so we returned to get that to go. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. First off, this was the same price as the salmon quiche but the quality seemed so much worse. It didn't taste good, was unevenly cooked (mostly dry), and the crust was hard as rock. I even put taco sauce on top from a pack we had in the car. It helped to make it taste a little better. Would never get this again, though. Overall, I really enjoyed Better Living Through Coffee and will be sure to return on my next visit to try other quiches and drinks.

That's pretty much what we got here though not overwhelmingly good. First I'll say that other recent reviews pointing out differences in this cuisine vs traditional Mexican American or authentic Mexican dining and the very nice staff are not far off. Of course it's all personal taste and expectations. So here we were only moderately pleased with the food and drinks but it was a marvelous place to spend a little time near the water in nice outside tables with light blankets folded over the backs of seats for chilly times on the deck. The margaritas (hers spicy and mine standard) were good enough though served in a chimney glass which is different. The tacos we ordered were pretty good though not the best ever by any means. The hot sauce was "house made habanero " I guess in generic bottles after asking for Cholula. It was ok but not my preferred sauce. And the chips and salsa I asked if they were included and brought to the table but later found that they charged us for them???? Not a fan of that from an expense and a transparency standpoint!! The chips are house made and not uniformly made with thick chewy parts and a lot of crumbs. House made salsa reminded me of a house made version of jarred salsa. The staff was very nice and accommodating and two cute sisters dominate the service scene which was fun to watch. So I don't know that we will go again but glad we tried it. Wish I could give this a better review but it was just OK.
