Ambience - very nice and open dining room with a small bar and lots of flat screen tvs. The decor is mostly dark colors like red and black but give a good homey vibe. The store looked very clean and has some great natural lighting from the windows. The radio was playing nice soulful R&B that give it that little extra southern kick. Nice little store. Menu - chicken and waffles baby. Thats the main bread and butter but they also have fried fish, pork chops and some sandwiches as well. They also serve the normal sides like hush-puppies, mac and cheese, collard greens and so on. They have 2 kinds of chicken which are tenders and then some nice large sized wings. The waffles can also come in either buttermilk or red velvet, nice touch. Menu basically is what kind of combination of these items you want. You can either get all of one or some of all. The menu looks larger but it is mostly just different assortment of the main items. Overall thou this is a fried chicken and fish joint. Sticking to what they do best. Service - service was good, but there was definitely some improvement that could have be made. I walk in and greeted by a nice African American lady who asks if im here for pickup or dining in. I am then sat by my waitress who was an ok waitress but she was clearly engaged in her conversation she was having on her phone via bluetooth. She was nice and friendly when taking my order but as the meal went on she lost interest in the Caucasian male in middle of the dining room. When she dropped the check, without even asking if i needed anything else, she dropped it and then immediately without even looking at me started talking to a different table of her ethnic background. Thats breaking a cardinal rule of serving, never drop the check without being asked for. It just makes it look like you want me to leave. I also asked for a togo box and she totally forgot about it until after i paid and just kinda stared at her for a second. But overall the service was good. Food - so i went with the 2 wing, 2 fish and waffle combo that way i could try a little bit of everything. The food came out without any real decent looking presentation but then again it is just fried food. I also opted to have one of my waffles to be red velvet, and i was glad i did. So first of the waffles were really good. Had a wonderful flavor and very fluffy but still cooked completely. The red velvet was great, lots of red velvet flavor and also very fluffy. The fish was breaded perfectly and came out smoldering hot. Heck yeah. The seasoning on the fish was also very flavorful and well seasoned. I only had one bite that was like nothing but seasoning that made my face pucker for bit but overall that was damn good fish. Fried perfectly, great flavor and cooked completely. The wings were very surprising to me as i thought i would be getting smaller pieces but they were actually very decent sized wings. Score! These deep fried chicken wings were amazing. They were fried perfectly, nice and crispy. The wings were also breaded and seasoned very well. They had a great flavor and were also cooked well. This was a very amazing meal. Good ole chicken and waffles. These were some of the better chicken waffles i have had as well. Everything was cooked perfectly and all sported some great flavor. Nice and juicy, seasoned well and fried amazingly. I left a very happy camper. Overall - originally about halfway through my meal i knew i was going to do a great review. This was almost a 5 star review but the one thing that perturbed me was the last few minutes i was there. Breaking the cardinal rule is bad, yeah. But to break it and not even make eye contact with me to say thank you left me rubbed the wrong way. Then also forgetting, or not caring, to get my togo box was disappointing. I get it that i as soon as i walk in i get the stares of "omg, is that a white boy" but that doesnt bother me. What bothered me was the blatant disrespect at the end. She was friendly yeah in the beginning but at the end it felt like she just wanted me gone. I still tipped her very well because i dont believe in tipping poorly no matter what the situation. But i still give 4 great stars for the wonderfully deep fried dead animal goodness that i got to experience. This was some serious chicken and fish. Ok. Everyone know I am picky and a great cook in my own right. The Rolling Rooster made me smile. Yes it is an unassuming joint for food and drinks but oh so good. We were just swinging through on a visit but this was the best food on our 2 days in town. The wings were greatly seasoned and piping hot. Ordered here many times before using the yelp grubhub. Food is delicious. Food gets prepped slow but it does get ready. Until today. It's been 1 hour and 17 minutes and I finally got the food for a pickup. The guy from the restaurant who seemed like a manager claimed that the grubhub doesn't work for them. But they received payment. With no food ready. Seriously? Checked my email, took my order on a piece of paper. Remind you this was after 40 minutes of placing my initial order. I've been here a couple times and the food is good but the service is HORRIBLE. The servers are nice but we waited for over 40 minutes for our food. We got up and left after 45 minutes and went somewhere else because we were starving. No one came to check on us or tell us the status of our food. There was a table that got there 20 minutes after us and they got their food first and they had more people at the table than we did. Many people came in and ordered Togo and also got their food before us. They only serve chicken and fish so it shouldn't be that hard to have the food out in 20 minutes or less. Wow! Man that was some good catfish at a great price ($9.50 for 3 pieces + a side!!) and the greens were off the hook! I heard about this place from folks at the Ashes Cigar Lounge nearby. I called in my order and it was ready in about 20min. I picked it up and drove it home 25 min and it was still crispy and hot. I added some Louisiana hot sauce and went...to..town. Let me preface this by saying the food we received was very good, but that being said... my friends and I ordered 3 meals via DoorDash, and upon arrival several items were missing. One of my sides, and half of my friends entire order was missing. We arrived at the restaurant to rectify the issue and we were told that our order was actually prepared correctly and "the guy who picked up the food" actually rifled through our bags and picked and chose what he wanted....except I interacted with the WOMAN that dropped off our order. When presented with that information the cashiers shut us down and told us they remembered so we were wrong. During our time waiting for food that had to be completely reordered, several other people came back in because items in their order was missing as well.
