Rolling rooster has amazing comfort-soul food! When you walk in R&B is usually playing and it's a cozy vibe inside. I'm not out this way often, so when I am I indulge. I ordered the 3 piece, 2 sides and cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy, well seasoned and very fresh! I also ordered a side of greens which weren't as good as the last time I had them but tasted fine. I also ordered cornbread which was fluffy with a hint of sweetness. Service was standard and friendly! They usually have teens working the register or serving and they did forget one of my sides. I got my order to go so I didn't realize until I got home. I'd love to try the oxtails next time I come! The RED VELVET waffles are a must!!!!

I ordered through Uber Eats. My taste buds are dancing. Idky it took me so long to try rolling rooster. I got the 4 piece fish with 2 sides. The fish was well seasoned and still crispy even after it being delivered. It wasn't too salty but also not bland/plain. I was also pleased with the size of each piece. (In the picture, I held up some ketchup next to it to show the size) For sides I got sweet potato's and collard greens. The sweet potatoes were the right amount of sweetness and the greens were flavorful and also not bland. I didn't even need to add salt and pepper. I will definitely be ordering again!

I went with my wife and youngest son. We really wanted to try the chicken and waffles and were able to sample the chicken wing, chicken tender and fish by ordering one of each as a 3pc & waffle. They were just flat out awesome! We went for a late lunch so there wasn't a crowd at all. Inside was clean and well maintained. The server was attentive.

Food was great, employees were very friendly and attentive. Drinks were really good. Nice place inside as well.

Pork chops, collard greens and Mac and chesse

The atmosphere was a decent vibe. The fried chicken which was bland, candy yams that tasted like the came out of a can with no sauce and you can't for the Mac and Cheese that had 5% chesse and 95% Mac. The Service was decent at first when we came in but after we decided to pack up our food and finish it at home after barely touching the food because it was that bad, the waitress then became rude to us when I asked for the check and to go box's. I don't recommend coming here.

My wife and I came in on a Saturday around 4 PM. The restaurant wasn't super busy or anything and we were able to get seated right away. Loved the throwback R&B music that was playing in the background throughout our dining experience. Definitely added to the vibe. The restaurant felt "older" inside. The restroom sticks out to me because of how dirty it was during our visit. It was pretty disgusting. Our server was very nice and attentive during our visit. I decided to order Chicken and Waffles with a side of Baked Mac & Cheese. The Mac & cheese was cheesy & delicious, and the chicken also came out with great flavor and crisp. The waffle was just okay. It tasted like it may have been laying out longer before it was topped off with chicken. It was cold and flimsy when I received it in front of me, which was disappointing. Overall we had an okay experience!

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and I'm so glad I finally got to try this place out. Everything that we ordered was so so good! I got the fried fish with baked mac and cheese for my side and it was really good. The breads on the fish was super crispy! The Mac and cheese was pretty good but it came out and wasn't very hot but still good. The fried pickles here are perfect! Had a good crunch to them without the pickle being limp. They also came out super hot which I loved and the ranch was great. I tried my boyfriend's chicken and waffles and they were super good as well. Only critiques I have was that there was only one server so service was a little lacking. Otherwise I think this spot is great!

We are visiting from California and stop by accident and surprise surprise the best cat fish and fried chicken I've ever had moist in the inside crispy on the outside. The potato yams were bomb. The service was great, thee was a young girl going through training and she was very pleasant. The ambiance was casual but very clean which is huge for my husband and I. I recommend this place 109% don't miss out guys give it a chance. If I loved it believe me you are in great hands.

Small location but very tasty food. We were told to sit wherever we like but it took about 10 mins for a server to come take drink/food orders. Despite that the food came out relatively quickly after ordering and it was hot and delicious. It's not a fancy spot by any means but worth the visit for well seasoned chicken/fish/shrimp.

Rolling Rooster has a laid-back vibe, and the staff are friendly. They were multitasking, training someone while taking my order, which slowed things down a bit. I tried their 6-piece fried chicken which was about $20 (with fries and a tea), which felt pricey. But I have to admit, it was crispy and flavorful, with nice seasoning. Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a bit too expensive for what it was. The place itself was cool, with plenty of seating and a bar. Their seasoned French fries were a highlight, they were super tasty. Overall, The Rolling Rooster has good food and a chill atmosphere, but the high prices might not be worth it for everyone.

Got the Chicken & Waffles tossed in Hot Honey and it was super good! Chicken fell right off the bone and flavor was perfect. The staff was also really friendly, attentive, and helpful.

I ordered takeout via Uber Eats. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so I was really excited to finally order from here. I also paid extra for delivery so that I'd be the first stop. I ordered the "3 fish two sides" with mac&cheese and collard greens, and the "zesty fries". The fries were all hard as rocks and tasted like old grease. They were so dried out, I honestly believe they'd been sitting out all day. I added a video where I'm tapping the fries on my plate and it makes a hard knocking sound. The catfish was well seasoned, although a bit too salty. I was most excited for the Mac and cheese, but sadly it was bland. Boxed Mac and cheese is better than this. The collard greens were extremely salty and inedible. I don't know if this was an off night, but this was some truly awful food and I don't understand why there are so many 5 star reviews.

Even tho I didn't try the food, there were a couple things that looked really good (eg the pork belly Benedict!) and the ambiance inside is really light and airy - I do think this place would be great for brunch. They do have free 1 hr visitor parking at the San Jacinto building which forthright is just inside of (so parking right out front), but bear in mind since it's only an hour you can't dwell too long unless you park elsewhere. Last note - the staff were friendly, quick, and helpful with the drink! No issues there. Bathroom is shared inside the building and very clean/nice as well. Overall will be back eventually, even if just for drinks again. Just wish they were open a little later :)

So we thought we would make a whole night of it. Tiffany did make reservations for us for 7pm and even though this is a bar hopping neighborhood, even at 7pm it was pretty busy. Streets were full of people. Anthem had a vibe. I felt the energy as soon as I waked in. The cozy booths with the U shaped seating with plush green velvet fabric. Wait staff wore Hawaiian shirts. Sitting up behind me on a ledge was the Easter Island statue. Insert (Night At The Museum) here, dumb dumb give me gum gum. Anthem was our first stop tonight. Just drinks and a dinner. I ordered the Peach Fuzzy drink. Not too sweet, refreshing, peachy, and beautiful garnish of a flower. I ordered the Yummy Fries which looked like a salad. Gorgeous presentation. Fries were actually waffle sweet potatoes. Pickled ginger, sesame seeds, furikake, aïoli and a few other wonderful ingredients. Could not get over how beautiful everything looked. But the other two were just engaged in conversation and didn't seem to want to be bothered with a customer. Finally when we were addressed, they did bring us to a table and going forward, the server was quite attentive. My biggest disappointment is with the food. I have seen so many photos and I just wish my food would have come out as appetizing as the food I have seen in the photos. I think this place has a stronger emphasis on drinks I guess in hopes you won't notice the poor quality of the food. The menu was surprisingly very limited. I was just hoping for some eggs and toast but you don't have any option to create your own; I seemed limited to having eggs with fennel or feta and pesto and others that I have no interest in. I ended up ordering the "Big Brekky" and ordered the eggs fried. It comes with roasted tomato which I did not want and asked if I could do the roasted mushrooms instead. The meal comes with "sourdough" toast and their "Two Hands" hash browns. They put far too many herbs in the hash; I had a bite and the herb flavors were so overwhelming, I couldn't even taste the potato. I only had the one bit and didn't eat anymore. It didn't taste fresh; it seemed more like something they have it prepared long ahead of time and just warm it up. The bread while good... is NOT sourdough. If they think this is sourdough, someone needs to go back to school. And the eggs... I did order them fried, but these were beyond fried. The yolk was completely hard and I've never had a fried egg this overly cooked. And the meal came with a side of something they call "jam". I don't know what berries these are, but they are just in a pool of some type of syrup. Not sure what they think "jam" is, but this isn't. Overall, I ate the toast, had a bite of the hash browns and the eggs are so dried out, they were tasteless. And the "roasted mushrooms" were more mush than anything. Again, had a bite but couldn't eat more than that. This is one of those places where it's more about drinking than the food. There are too many other amazing breakfast places nearby to frequent this establishment. Again, don't be fooled by all the photos. Lastly, very expensive. I expect much more when spending $25 per person for breakfast. Again, too many other great options for really delicious food. Last thing, the music in this place is far too loud to have a decent conversation.

The waitress was pleasant and helpful in suggesting add ons with my meal. But being a purist, I wanted to try it as intended. The food arrived in the normal amount of time. When I first saw my mozzarella omelette I was a little surprised! It didn't look anything like what it was described as! Oh well! I thought. Let's give it a try! My taste buds were happily amazed! Could this omelette smothered in mushroom gravy, green "pesto" and bread crumbs be the best omelette I've ever had?! The mushroom tomato gravy was so smooth! Along with the cilantro avocado topping. That tasted more like pesto, gave it the perfect zing! I had wished I the had ordered some toast to dip in the sauce. I could have done without the bread crumbs. But they were easily swept to the side. The amount of mozzarella cheese in this omelette led me to believe it was more of an omelette lasagna than a plain old omelette. More than ten minutes later, when he checked again, the assistant manager was openly rude and dismissive. He told the driver he could not make the kitchen move any faster and then said, "Why don't you leave and come back then if you're in such a hurry." That interaction was bad enough that we canceled our food order, paid for our drinks, and left. When asked why, I explained exactly what we had witnessed.
