I was hungry and this spot seemed to draw me in. I was hoping for some good food at the minimum. My significant other and I walked inside. I looked at the menu on the wall and then we proceeded to the counter underneath the Order sign. From the Pizzas section, we got a 12" Medium Cheese for $12.50. From the Apps section, they had Shoe Bites (garlic or cinnamon) for $4.99 and we chose garlic. From the same section, we got Onion Rings for $4.99. I ordered a diet pepsi for $2.89. We got to choose our table, so that was convenient. They started to bring out our order fairly fast. The diet pepsi was smooth and so was the free refill. The Onion Rings were crispy and full of flavor. I loved them. The Shoe Bites had a nice flow of garlic everywhere. I liked them. The 12" Medium Cheese came to the table looking fabulous. I was excited to grab a slice. The sauce and the cheese played together nicely. I was a fan of this pizza. The service was friendly and fast throughout my visit. I was impressed by that. Pizza is really good and the shoe bites which are small pieces of dough served with marinara. Service is friendly and good. My daughter now lives in Valparaiso, IN. I came over to take my grandson out to lunch and this is the place he suggested: a locally-owned pizzeria just down the street with ample seating and parking. He likes the pepperoni pizza. I parked in the shade and we went in to order. Since I prefer no meats on my pizza, I just a $6.99 lunch special of a slice of cheese pizza, a large salad with Ranch dressing, and a soda for myself, and breadsticks and a medium pepperoni for him to take out for later as well. We didn't have to wait too long despite the counter personnel taking a lot of phone-in requests. The interior is a large rectangular room with college memorabilia from Purdue, IU and Syracuse. There's a small game room near the restroom. There are TVs mounted high on the wall for sports games. The place offers sliced pizza during lunch until 2pm. You get your choice of cheese, pepperoni or sausage. Pizzas come in mediums and large only. The crust is dense and doughy, but the sauce adds the spice. We are from NY and have always enjoyed Shoes pizza. Tastes very much like LI pies. We stopped in recently for a meatball parm and Italian hero. The bread was stale. Meatballs too salty and did not taste that way previously. The Italian sub also had the same stale bread and mayo but no Italian dressing either included in the bag or on the sub. It was said the dressing would be included on the side. I never had an Italian sub (hero) with mayo but since it was an option I thought I would try and scrape it off if it was weird. The wings are awesome and the pizza is good. I don't like that they are screaming out names of people who ordered, it ruins the experience. We loved all the TV's. We would order more beer but no one came around to ask us and it's not clear how to get the beer otherwise. It would be nice if there was something on the table that would indicate the need for the server to come by the table. The workers are young and tend to have tunnel vision. I think the pizza is pretty good. I usually don't order sausage pizza, but I like it here. If you want to tip your server you have to bring cash, otherwise the owner keeps it all and your server will never see the tip. So wrong!! I give it one star for the owner keeping the tips. read more

I admit I wasn't even eating here but I drive a large utility truck, and their parking lot was completely empty so I was going to park and walk to where I was going. As soon as I got out of my truck, the owner came running out, claiming that I could not park there because he had a large party coming. I stopped by Shoe's this evening with a bit of an abnormal request -- to purchase a ball of dough, for an online cooking class I was partaking in this evening. The young girl at the counter simply asked Mr Shoe how much to charge, and he, without hesitation grabbed a ball of dough and said "no charge." I was 100% expecting to pay, but was extremely grateful for the generosity of a small business owner to kindly give this to me, free of charge. Delicious pizza!!! The crust is perfect and the toppings were delectable!!!!! It was hot and cheesy and had the just the perfect amount of grease from the spicy sausage to dip the crust in and be delighted. Already I could smell the wonderful aroma of pizza and wings being prepared by the very beautiful men in the kitchen and of course, Mr.Shoe. While I was making my order I couldn't help but stare at the man, the myth, the legend himself, Mr.Shoe. The sweat from his forehead glistened in the light.
